Liz at the sales counter was beyond wonderful.. she was patient.. attentive and most helpful. She took the time to find the best part for my vehicle and at the best price!! They got me in for same day service and my vehicle was ready at the time they said it would be. They also give a great warranty on their work.. this will definitely be my new auto shop to use for my vehicles.

To say that B&L is nice and honest is an understatement. I felt like Liz was my best friend after talking to her one time. She did everything to make sure my car was taken care of and I was comfortable with everything that was being done. I literally hate taking my car anywhere because you have no idea how much everything is going to cost or if you’re getting an honest opinion. Everyone here is just amazing. You feel like you’re are getting the best service and they are really looking out for you. Please if you need anything done on your car take it here I promise you won’t regret it.

Highly recommend this quality service. Absolutely you can find cheaper rates for services performed. But, you will not get same peace of mind.This company not only did the repairs in the time and amount stated, they went above and beyond. They inspected every aspect of the vehicle, to include front back and side photographs. A detailed report of the vehicle was sent to me via email. As they found no issue with the vehicle, other than my initial need… I will testify to the honesty of this company and have no reserve in recommending them to the highest degree. From initial service call to vehicle pickup top notch all the way around.

Brian and the team, was professional, courteous, and informative from initial contact to paying the bill. My F150 would not start, plenty of battery, but no response from the car. I described to Brain the issues in detail and they were able to pinpoint the problem and fix it with a new starter same day. I was expecting to have to wait for parts, or that the diagnose would take longer, but they pulled through. They also looked at everything else to make sure another issue would not pop up when I left.

My experience here was wonderful. The young lady at the front desk named Liz was so sweet and helpful. She helped through this process and was so genuine. And Shawn the mechanic was excellent. He pinpointed the issue and fixed it....this was so necessary as we were out of town...Please do business here. They are excellent and they care!!!

Popped a tire right nearby and barely made it into the parking lot. While they didnt have anything in stock for my tire, they helped put on the spare and called around to find places that could help immediately. I would give them ten stars if I could. And Ill definitely be back whenever I need it. Such great people!

If I could give 0 stars at this point I would. I brought my husband and my vehicle in to B&L auto the first week of May because he was coming home from deployment and I was 7 months pregnant. Our cars (2015 & 2016 models) needed their routine maintenance along with maintenance for 70-80k miles. The gal on the phone was super accommodating and helped me take things off the maintenance list that could be done at a later time. $1400 later we felt like we’d gotten our stuff done by a trusted professional and we’d be back. 400 miles later my husbands batteries in his vehicle went bad randomly. Like broke down on the side of the road bad. Multipoint inspection didn’t pick up on an issue with the batteries? Or they didn’t connect things correctly and messed up the batteries? We called B&L and they stated “we don’t deal with hybrid batteries period so any issue with your batteries doesn’t have to do with the maintenance we performed.” $800 later and it wasn’t his hybrid battery it was his normal batteries conveniently past his warranty. Fast forward to the last two weeks and my oil light comes on. Mind you, I have not put that many miles on my car since the maintenance was done and this light has NEVER come on before. My husband checked the oil. BONE dry! Not once did I say when negotiating maintenance that I didn’t want my oil changed and it’s my fault when I paid that I didn’t notice it wasn’t done. They supposedly did a multi point inspection and didn’t notice my low/dirty oil, didn’t check it, or emptied it and didn’t replace it. However, when we called to investigate the situation the gal who’d previously been accommodating was now belligerent, argumentative, and hung up on my husband. Okay whatever we’ll get an oil change, hope to god my car doesn’t break down due to not having one done in a long time, November 2020 to be exact (which they said they have no record doing and I have a bank statement saying otherwise). Now, my husbands car has been acting funny…took it to Subaru today and the throttle body cleaning we paid for back in May wasn’t done or wasn’t done correctly. So essentially we’ve had to pay for our maintenance twice at this point. 100% will not return to B&L auto and will caution anyone and everyone from seeking maintenance here.

I was able to make an appointment mid-week for the upcoming Saturday with no issues. The oil change was straightforward and my car was ready within two hours after having dropped it off. The technician also performed a quick multi-point inspection and did not try to upsell any unnecessary services.

They informed me of what was great with the car, what could wait to be acknowledged, and what we needed to address sooner rather than later. The first visit was due to my tire light coming on. I have been driving from Charlottesville to Virginia Beach for the last 3 months & didn’t want any issues in the tunnel. They took me right in and patched the tire. The employees were very friendly & the shop, reception area, & waiting room were clean. Such a positive experience, 2 weeks later, I made an appointment online on Thursday evening to have front & rear brakes replaced on Friday. Came in & they got it done! Great price & warranty!This is my go-to place! Thanks guys (& Liz 😊)!

Mark up on OEM factory parts was over 300%, although they claimed otherwise. They were professional and did a good job. Also said they warrant service for 3 years and provide 1 year roadside assistance. Will do good work but they rob you for it. Difficult to find honest mechanic shop with fair pricing. It seems greed is the norm. We wont return here.

I came to you because a friend said that did a job for them. I brought my car to check the failed issues from my state inspection. I bought my car own Monday afternoon I was told that they would not be able to get to it until Wednesday. I get a call Thursday evening that I need to pickup my car before Monday or I will have to pay storage fees. I go Friday afternoon and pick my car up. Friday evening I get a call about my car and if I dont call and come pickup my car I will be charged storage fee. I not getting a call about how you can help me get my vehicle back on the road .Saturday I get the same call.So I am not happy with the way your company handled this. If you have so many vehicles in your lot that you cant keep track of whats there and whats not how can repair anything in a timely manner.

Hey, Bradley.Heres what happened...My Ford F150 have a seized thermostat on HWY 64 N. I called AAA and asked for a recommendation from the AAA driver. He said I should go to B and L.So I did.I left my truck from Thursday A.M. till Saturday P.M.On Friday, your female worker called me to tell me the Truck was fixed. She mistakenly called the wrong number. But she also said my truck was ready, too.We drove up to get it on Saturday. It was not ready because the mechanic had not completed the work.I asked the dude with the goatee if he could possibly ask another mechanic to finish the 20 minute thermostat job since I had driven 40 miles to get to your shop. He gave me attitude and sarcastic responses....so. I called the Police then He agreed to release my truck with a waiver....We pushed truck out of your garage. I tightened the radiator hose...the install had already been completed....then I paid and left.I believe all of the nonsense could/should have been avoided if the desk guy wouldve had better customer skills and a little empathy for a stranded motorist.My low rating is based solely on the front desks shotty customer service.Thank you,Nathan Barnette

Burn your money instead! I had to give a star they don’t deserve that! You’ll have to repair your repairs, call the BBB and the AG and Commonwealth because B&L automotive has no shame. We took our car to them for one issue and they addressed everything but that. When they “repaired “ it for more than a thousand dollars, taking a 19 year olds hard earned money, it left the shop and not ten minutes later it overheated. B&L’s servicer Brian confused this car with another and stated we declined service that they never suggested. Calling later, Liz, the manager stated she would address it and fix the radiator that was POURING fluid after its stay at their facility. A day later Brian states that the owner refuses to fix it . They couldn’t have driven the car nor has any of the paperwork given have any diagnostic on the radiator which they claim was not “that bad” upon arrival. Do not send your sister, mother, wife or woman you care about to B&L. They have refused to do anything about this after fixing tie rod ends for 1000 but the radiator is dead now because of their deceit and negligence. They have in turn refused to post this review on their website.Disgusting.

It has been a hit and miss, some of the guys that work there did an amazing job and some they had my car longer then planed and I still had problems. Someone who dose not work there anymore but when he was there he updated information on my car with wrong information in the system like mileage and installed wrong coil packs in my car back, Had my oil pan drain plug stripped and been leaking oil.

The service was great and friendly, however I dont think you should be charged a diagnostic fee if they cant repair the problem, it should be complementary, because I still have to pay for another diagnostic fee at the dealer to have the repair done. It supposed to go towards the repair cost if done at that location.

I needed air in my tires before a 10 hour drive to RI and was going to fill them at the 7-11 or Exxon up the street from this business. The rude and dismissive women at 7-11 refused to provide me with quarters for the air machine, noting that the air machine did not belong to 7-11 and the Exxon air machine was out of order. When driving away in shock of the horrible customer service at both gas stations, I pulled in the B & L automotive to share my story and my frustration. I was promptly greeted by two service technicians who were eager to assist me and understood my frustration. They added the air to my tires and refused to take any payment! Its good to know that there are still gentlemen out there who possess a great work ethic and display wonderful customer service! If I were a local to Newport News, VA and not just passing through, I would absolutely be a patron of this local business! Thank you guys for making my day and saving me!

The people working there were all very friendly and helpful. They caught an issue with my belt, and showed me what was wrong and explained it to me before they did anything, which I really appreciated. It took a few hours for everything to get done, but I’d rather it took a while and it get done right, which it was. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is just that I wish the people working there were a bit more consistent with wearing their masks. That was the only part of my experience I had any issue with. I’ll probably be going back if I need any other work done on my car

The level of customer service is unmatched in my experience. I brought my Chevy Equinox in for routine maintenance. Not only did they tell me what’s wrong with the car but they provide photos in the invoice. The recommended service invoice had links that provided a more in-depth look at what needed to be repaired and videos of what the part does. Liz the front desk clerk, is also knowledgeable and worked with me to get a good price for repair. I will definitely use these guys for the future services and will recommend anybody with car repairs to consider them.

This company is exceptional. There is almost a cult following given the personal care they take knowing/servicing their customers - it is easy to become a regular in no time.Liz is perhaps the secret sauce for this phenomenon. She has the ability to make you feel, that you are not only going to get the best service for the price but that every possible discount has been included on your bill. She is also quite lovable, fun to be around and loquacious in a good way. The company is lucky to have her as their front-line automotive ambassador.Matt, the mechanic who worked of my car, was very knowledgeable of my model car and accommodating. He has an easy-going manner that makes him trustworthy along with an aura of reassurance that he will fix it the right way.Brian, the new kid on the block, working in tandem with Liz, appears to have fallen right in line with this personal care approach. He actually has a storied automotive history prior to coming here, which explains his signature service line of, I dont see why not a coda for any time-management anxiety you may have. It is also indicative of this companys focus on excellence in customer service, as well as, their technical expertise. If you use them once - you will be back, because they treat you like family. First I want to note that I am giving them a one star not because their bad at servicing vehicles. I am giving them one star because of the social curiosity of the technician is awful. I personally was a Industrial Mechanical Technician for 7 years, note I did not say Automotive Technician. That being said I do understand vehicle engineering etc. Along with services and what needs to be done and how things need to be done. When I went in to talk to the technician about getting a service done the way he talked to me was extremely demeaning. When I talk cars with another technician I do not expect to be verbally belittled because I might be saying something incorrectly, etc. I would not give this business my money as long as they continue to treat their customers as if they are idiots.

B&L Automotive was amazing and I highly recommend using their services!My daughter and I was driving a 86 Ford Winnebago down 64 and a belt broke loose and I lost power steering and radiator fluid was leaking out. I pulled off the next exit and B&L was the first place I seen. So I pulled in and boy am I happy I did! Everyone there was super friendly and very helpful. The lady and gentleman working the front desk was super accommodating to my daughter and I.I am sure Ford Winnebagos arent the normal vehicle that people bring in but they took it on and within a few hours we were back on the road. I really wish they were closer to my hometown because I would be a forever customer! Thanks again B&L for your outstanding service.

The experience that me and my wife had here was incredible! I highly recommend BL Automotive if you want to save money and get professional quality work done to your vehicle. They work very fast and the staff is all very friendly and helpful. They are focused on what they can do to help you instead of charge you a lot of money like most other shops try to do. They did not let me walk away unsatisfied and will make sure they do everything they can for you. The mechanic Sean was the person who worked on my car and it was like he worked magic on it. My car had a full list of repairs needed including new brakes and a valve gasket leak and it was all done the day before the estimated time! These guys really went above and beyond and deserve a raise for the extra effort they put in, along with the lady at the counter. She was able to help me and my wife understand what was going on and what we needed to do to help us with our car moving forward and made sure we got the best prices possible. They squeezed me in for a quick pre purchase inspection on the day I had called. They were quick, helpful and couteous. Unfortunately they had some system issues in getting some of the paperwork sent over, but they rectified the situation professionally and made everything right. Highly recommend! Honest mechanics are hard to come by, especially when youre doing a last minute request out of town. Thanks for the help, Liz!Edit: I was promised the paperwork and they said theyd give a refund since this wasnt their usual process. Havent received either yet. I came here because the return line on the power steering system was damaged, from a oil change I had done a valvoline. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful at first. I brought my car here on a Saturday, and was supposed to get it back no later than that following Tuesday. I didn’t get my car back until a week later. Guess they had issues getting the part, but that isn’t my issue. My issue is, they wasn’t keeping me informed of anything. I had to call every day, in order to get an update. Also the young lady at the front desk told me they would provide pictures and a write up of what they found. So I would be able to take that information back to valvoline. She also stated she would look into my manufactures warranty but I never heard anything back.

The staff here are very professional and extremely knowledgeable. I came by to get my commuter car inspected and they told me everything I needed to fix and gave me a great deal on the service. I declined for all the fixes because the total was a little out of my budget for this beat up commuter, and Liz at the front desk was still polite, professional and encouraged me to come back when I could. I had a leaky tire that went flat on me on 64 and pulled off on the Ft. Eustis exit. B&L was right there off the exit in the perfect spot for me to pull in. Now, I arrived at 5pm on a Friday evening and they close at 5:30, but you know what? They immediately took me in and took care of me by fixing my tire. Best $35 I ever spent to get me back on the road in less than 1/2 hour. I was able to get to my Nephew’s Birthday party and keep a weekend appointment to help a friend of mine with their house. All made possible by the wonderful and competent people at B&L auto. You all have a great team there. Thank you!!

Being a female I’ve always had the fear of taking my car into a mechanics shop due to the stereotype that sometimes women get taken advantage of. Which happened at a different shop but after seeing the reviews at B and L, I decided to give it a shot. Liz was very knowledgeable, pleasant, personable, and kind. Brian was informative and very honest which helped my anxiety. I’m very glad I stumbled across B and L Automotive. I will be using their services from here on out! Thank you guys so very much!!

I had a great experience with B & L Automotive. Took my 2006 Honda Accord in because it kept cutting off. Brad and Liz were very professional and honest and told me a few possibilities that could be wrong but promised me they would get it right. Got my car back in a day and half it it is running great. Will definitely recommend to others and I may even go back just for oil changes.

Our 2007 Chrysler Town & Country air conditioning had been down for awhile. The good folks at B&L assessed and repaired it. It was very involved because a number of components needed to be replaced.They got the parts and put us in rental car and did the repair.The staff is very personable and nice, they made substantial adjustments to the pricing that put a smile on our faces.Thanks guys,The Wells Family

We have had to take our RV (Mercedes) to B&L twice for repairs in recent weeks. While the prognosis was going to be a pricey repair, B&L continued to troubleshoot and found that the initial diagnosis was not the cause of the problem. They dug deep and found another issue, the actual cause of the problem, which saved us over $1000! I have dealt with repair shops for years and this is not the norm. They could have done the initial repair, billed us and made more money, but they were honest and this made us customers for life!Liz was fantastic to work with! I am forward deployed and called several times to get the status since B & L could not call me. She gave me a no-nonsense synopsis of the problem and the billing and I was confident they had fixed the problem. On our second, unrelated visit, the problem required specialized electrical work and B & L was quick to identify this and worked with my wife find a suitable repair shop for our issue. B & L was awesome and I would recommend their repair services to anyone!!

The team and staff at B&L were amazing and very courteous with my needs during these difficult times. They were 100% professional in handling my car and interacting with me and other customers. Very straightforward and made sure my vehicle was in tip top shape. I would definitely recommend friends and family to bring in their vehicle for any car needs even though I live an hour and a half away. DO NOT COME HERE. First of all, I was told my car would only take an hour at most and it ended up taking 5 hours so already off to a bad start. I took my car in for an inspection and was failed for my tie rods being too loose. They estimated the fix at almost $400. Something didn’t sound right since I just had the car fully looked at no more than a month ago and there was nothing noted about my tie rods.Took my car to another inspection station the next morning and they said the tie rods were fine and I passed the inspection with flying colors.I do not appreciate being taken advantage of because I’m a young female. Do better and stop trying to rip people off.

I made a appointment for Tuesday morning for a state inspection (maybe a 30 min procedure) and dropped my car the night before. I called at the end of the day Tuesday and after being placed on hold for over 10 minutes was told no they had not completed the work and by the way my truck is so old there must be some additional work I need done. I said no thanks, just the state inspection, and they said it would be completed early the next day. I called at the end of the day Wednesday and was placed on hold for over 15 minutes so I just went over to pick it up. When I arrived they had just pulled it in and failed the inspection for rusty brakes, bad ball joint, and a bad tie rod end (they werent sure which one). They sent me a vague writeup that was not descriptive enough to complete the repairs. When I called for clarification they added multiple items (wheel bearings and pitman arm) that they would require me to replace. I got a second opinion and passed with no issues. I do not recommend this shop.

B&L is excellent and the staff is super helpful. I had my truck suspension diagnosed but no work done on it as I did the work myself. The crew let me walk the bay and see what needed to be done and walked me through how to do it, tools needed, etc. Also made recommendations on potential repairs/fixes for the future, they answered all my questions throughly and took the time to help the customer, even though they were clearly busy. All this and only charged a small fee of $20.00. Definitely recommend B&L to anyone who reads this.

I have taken both my cars to B&L for many, many years, and always been treated wonderfully, always have been pleased with repairs! I am very disappointed now because my check engine light has been coming on intermittently for months; sensors. Belts have been replaced, still light comes on. Well finally it was diagnosed as my converter. And oxygen sensors! Price quoted was $1600. I could not believe it, I took to Amazon, & I could get both parts for under $200. I had just spent $1000 a month ago for my cars. I just felt B&L was trying to recoup money lost during Corvid. I understand labor. Etc, but I just refused to pay that much!

I told them to perform a tune up and to make sure use Motorcraft spark plugs, well the car actually had autolite plugs, in very poor condition, either they went against my request and installed the wrong plugs or they never did replaced them and charged me for it. Either way, they are not a good shop, they thought they can get away. Not recommended
