If you call their listed phone number, a recorded voice loops telling you how great their customer service is. It doesn’t give options to actually speak to someone. It’s just a phone call to a PR advertisement. I’ve been to the store twice with mediocre customer service and the last time IS my last time going. I googled a particular rosé and it said the store carried it. I tried to call to confirm but, again, it doesn’t seem to call anyone. It just plays a looped advertisement. When i asked a woman who worked there but couldn’t bother to look at me she said they were out of stock. That’s fine. I asked if she knew of any nearby wine and spirit stores and she had no idea. I suppose I can understand that attitude towards competition. She told me to “google it.” I can understand that response. However, when i googled beforehand, they were the only place to show carried it. I called. No one picks up. Just the advertisement. The first experience raised an eyebrow. Maybe it was just that on top of the most recent. I will definitely never set foot in this store again.
This wine shop is certainly one of the best when it comes to wine selections. This place was very relaxing, and it is good for people who love to hang out or chill. You can always stay here or take some wine on the go, and Im thankful because the prices were okay. I will highly recommend this shop to everyone! Very amazing!

Meeting Liam was a pleasure and a privilege. He is passionate about his profession and he lives to make people happy and entertain them. I think in our two hours with him, we tried various wines. It was a little different, and if we had split it into two sessions, we would have enjoyed it more. All the wines were fantastic, and in the end, it was hard to choose our favorites.
I bought $250 gift certs for Xmas, only to learn months later from friends that they did not receive, even though I had confirmations and was charged. One friend went to the store, we called, & emailed, and no help. Completely ignored.
So far, nothing beats to this wine shop for their services, wine selections, and foods. This is a great place to have a romantic date with someone you love. Love the view from above. Great food and ambiance. A little bit pricey, but worth the money. I highly recommend this wine shop to everyone I know.

Good luck reaching them either by phone or email? Phone just plays out going message. Placed an order 12/18, still hasnt shipped. Hoped to have it by Christmas or maybe New Year. No chance, now. Maybe if you can walk in but forget their shipping practices.
My worst future wine purchase experience.Please do not order future wines from this store.I ordered a case on wine in December 2017, and still waiting for it in 2021.They never provided follow-ups, and said it would arrive in a few months every time I called since 2019. Ive received all other future Bordeaux 2016 from other stores without any problem except for this one from Sherry-Lehmann. It is such a pain to deal with this store.
I placed an expensive order of ~$900 as a gift on Nov 21st, 2020 (before Thanksgiving), with a promised delivery of Dec 1st, 2020. The order never showed up, my credit card is charged in full, and no refund has been issued with 2 emails and 2 phone calls since Dec 3rd. This is terrible customer service and I hope to take the complain to BBB if I do not see a refund in next 2 days. Needless to add the store has lost me as a customer. There are other reviews here that share similar predicament with their orders.Update: They did refund me and it took another phone call but they took their usual 10 business days after cancellation to issue a refund.

My sister sent us a bottle of champagne for our anniversary using Sherry-Lehman. On the first delivery, the bottle was smashed. However, SL replied almost instantly to our email and sent a replacement bottle the next day. I really appreciated the quick and easy customer service. Also, they try to use as little plastic as possible in their packaging. This is a big plus for me. The first delivery had just a little brown paper padding out the package (which may have been the issue leading to the breakage!). The second was packed much more securely, with an carton surrounding the bottle itself and lots more paper packaging than in the delivery before. I think this is a good touch and a sign of a company that is making steps towards sustainability
Ordered online. Website said delivery in 1 week. Have heard nothing from SL. Called and was told they had not gotten what I ordered from the distributor. No email, text, call....no communication. This is unacceptable. Reaponse from rep was Im sorry....Perhaps in person is ok but online ordering appears to be horrible (read other reviews too). Beware when ordering online.

Ive been to Sherry-Lehmann only a couple of times and theyve been helped me choose some great wines on each occasion.
I think we caught them on a bad day. The selection was good and our wines were pulled promptly considering how they were moderately busy. The person helping us must have been new as when he told us the total we asked if that was correct and another person, probably manager or supervisor nearly jumped out of their skin half way across the store yelling stop, thats not right. Eventually with the managers help our purchase was entered correctly and at the correct price. All just a bit unprofessional for this price point.

Sherry Lehmann is historic. No one liquor store in New York City can bring you better service than them. Be it they wide selection of affordable or top of the line spirits or their endless knowledge of their product and how is made you will amazed. I learn something new every time I go not to mention go home with something I love every time especially when its a gift for someone. Must go.

This is a great wine store where you can purchase almost everything you can think of. Very often they have 10% or 20%off promotions. What I like most about this store is their tastings of very high quality wines and the fact that they invite very interesting guests to present and to talk about those wines.
One of the best wine stores. Good selection. But all wines very high priced. No medium or low priced wines here. Great store for the wine connoisseur and rich.

Horrible service!! very poor form of delivery!! they send me a bottle in a cheep Styrofoam container- wrapped in tape:-(((( when i called to complain feeling sorry for receiving this present sent with love from my sister over seas was so poorly packaged and i felt impressed to show my coworker! they said it was fedex fault taking no responsibility at all!!! they want to credit just $ 9. dollar for the missing wrap service, i said they should at least have honor at least 20% of the order, to compensate for the poor service - costumer service very uncooperative and rude:-(( clearly they do not care about the costumers!i will give a less than 0 start if that was on option
Great selection and helpful purchase guidance via phone, BUT their delivery service is an abomination. I ordered several bottles of wine to be delivered as a birthday gift at a specific time and day. They no-showed - no call, no delivery. After I emailed and called (and was passed around among 3 employees), they finally apologized and made claims of “misunderstanding;” and they agreed (and guaranteed) delivery for another specific day and time with an associated guarantee of calling the recipient directly and ahead of time to ensure she was home to receive the order. Once again, they no-showed - no call, no delivery, no explanation. I emailed and called again - no response to email, but at least this time I only had to speak with one employee - and I cancelled the order as well as asked, and received, a full refund. The whole delivery process with Sherry-Lehmann turned out to be an extraordinary hassle and disappointment as well as a significant display of incompetence.
I just browsed the shop and bought a third wine from Bordeaux for about $50. First impressions are of a strong selection of very expensive wines as you would expect on Park Avenue. They have great maisons and great years.
After a salesman said he was holding a bottle of wine for me at 6:30 PM and I showed up at 7:23 PM, the woman working in the store was so unbelievably mean and gave me a scathing we. are. closed. our. registers. are. CLOSED huge attitude for not showing up earlier. The man on the phone said nothing about timing. Ive never experienced such a king in my own castle attitude and dont know if id attribute it to snobbery or a bad day but Id literally go anywhere else in New York City to pick up a bottle of wine.
There are 3 processes to get wine but no explanation. Also, its not certain first come first served. Finally, although they missed our order, they just keep saying wait. We found that our order was missed after waiting 20 mins. Clerk said Happy holiday instead of sorry. It was chaos. Very impressive!
I will never use Sherry-Lehmann again. After buying a case of futures in 2017 I was told delivery would happen in Autumn 2018...which moved to winter 2018...which move to winter 2019...which moved to spring 2019. Money back please, dont waste my time. Millesime is a fantastic service with links to the major Chateaus and wine regions with super support. S-L has seen the last of my wine business. Pathetic service and support

Very good selection for higher end bottles. I was looking for a specific Meursault on the web which they had in store !Store feels a little snobby with super expensive bottles on display. But the (French) staff I talked to was very helpful picking French reds in my budget and shifting me from a well-known more expensive first wine to a less known second label.
Hasnt been easy to find somewhere to get a good bottle of average priced wine in NYC. Sherry-Lehmann was a complete life saver. Not over priced like other liquor/wine shops near Times Square. Very heplful staff and the offer of delivery to the hotel. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good bottle of wine at the right price! Not over inflated tourist prices. Might be back for some wine tasting.

Ive been shopping here for over 2 1/2 years and theyre the best. Dont pay attention to the bad reviews. I chalk it up to these ppl being idiots and they would complain about anything! I mean, have you even looked at these people? I hope they never return so they dont take up valuable space in aisles.Ask for Hollywood, he knows his wine and champagne and never steers you in the wrong direction. My wife has asked him to choose a case of assorted roses for us and were always pleased.Prices on Dom, Laurent Perrier Rose and the magnums are excellent. Plus they deliver same day which is great!!!
One star for Great Wine Class from Kevin Zraly and Big Name Wines. Get ripped off my the cashier. I order 2 bottles of Bordeaux costing $48. They will not print the receipt for you if you gave them the e-mail. I was charge with 2 bottles of Burgundy for $83. Contacted customer service, but never get a response.

Very poor service. I have used Sherry Lehmann for many years and order wine for usage at our cottage in upstate NY. I put in my order Tuesday the 11th so that I could get wine for the weekend as we had a lot of guests. The order was acknowledged and supposedly filled Wednesday. I did get a call Thursday saying they were short 4 bottles on one of the cases and told the delivery would be Saturday, a bit late but not too late. It was never shipped and the tracking number they gave didnt work, obviously as the wine never let the warehouse. I called this morning and the order was still in the warehouse. It has been promised to ship today (Monday ) and arrive Tuesday, missing the entire weekend and reason to order.
Dont come here looking for service to assist you with bourbon or whiskey. Staff is quite dismissive and not knowledgable for bottles that are behind the counter. I just wasted 10 minutes waking over here from the hotel.

They could and should be so snobby. It should intimidate me with the rack of ten thousand dollars wines. But the service is so good even if you buy one bottle of ten dollar wine.
I ordered a case of wine on Sat. 12/16 as Christmas gifts for my work colleagues. Our office is a 22-min. walk from the Sherry-Lehman store, according to Google Maps. I received a delivery estimate of EOD Wed., 12/20. When it didnt arrive, I spoke with a customer service rep, who said it is now scheduled for delivery Fri. 12/23. She blamed the delay on FedEx, explaining that my order could not be delivered on a S-L truck because it was under a certain dollar threshold ($350). In any event, half my team has now left for their holiday vacations. And the rest of us will likely be gone by the time the wine gets here. Im very disappointed by Sherry-Lehmanns service and will not shop there again.

Honestly I think I should start looking for a different liquor store around my work when I need to pick up something for home.Have been going there for a few years as I have worked around the area for many. Ive always thought that they have good selection of cognacs, scotches and wines but as of late Ive started to get rather disappointed. After careful reflection Ive found that Ive only came there because I was too lazy to look for other places that sell my favorite Cognac (Hine, both H and VSOP) and when I came there on Friday to try and get a Scotch Ive found myself with a single shelf (ok fine) of Scotches most from well recognizable brands or some very old but with very little representation of various producing regions. After reflecting on the shelves that held the wines Ive come to the conclusion that instead of focusing on some of the quality producers that may not necessarily have established brands the store focuses on well established old brands that have consistently produced there stuff and that cost a lot of money because their clientele is ready willing and able to spend it and the imagination and variety isnt necessarily king...This is so disappointing of a realization.... One breath of fresh air was a representative of Champagne Lanson tasting their Rose...
Received a bottle of Veuve Cliquot as a present. When it arrived the box was already opened (see photos) and the packaging was ripped. When I called they immediately agreed to send me another bottle but it was an unnecessary hassle. It should never have sent a used product anyway.
