You walk inside this small store and see a ton of hardware and equipment along the walls and even across rows on the ceiling. They have done a good job of stuffing the place to the brim. I found exactly what I was looking for without too much trouble.
I bought a window AC unit this past weekend and had a WONDERFUL experience. This is my first time going to Beacon after the new management took over, and they did not disappoint -- just as good as the old management (which was always excellent). I live on the first floor of an apartment building so my windows have bars over them with no AC cutout, so I didnt know if a window AC would fit. I stopped by Beacon to ask a question about it, and Angel, a great guy, immediately said he would come to my apartment to look at the window and see what he could do. He measured everything and then told me about an AC unit that would fit, and then immediately delivered and installed the unit, even getting special plexiglass to fit my unusual window. I would recommend Beacon Hardware (and especially Angel, if you need help with installation or other handyman services) to anyone and everyone.
Terrible store. I bought a drill that was recommended by the manager, and it turned out to cost TWICE what it costs online. On top of it, it was defective. When I tried to return it, all the sudden this item was final sale, even though it was not on sale and nowhere does it say it was final sale.Avoid this store if you dont like to be ripped off and deal with terrible customer service.
This place is great. They have everything, from nuts and bolts to blenders, and everything in between. Just like an old-fashioned hardware store! Staff was constantly asking if we needed help and jumped in with expert help when needed.
They are always super nice and professional and great paint prices. They will give you advice and are very accommodating
I wish it were the hardware store in my neighborhood. I needed bread and cake pans and they had them at a good price. Very satisfied.
Great hardware store! The people are super helpful and nice! It has everything I could need from a hardware store!
This store has so many things that we needed and the staff was VERY helpful! They are a true asset to the neighborhood!
Couldnt be any easier that ... simply walk right in I get whats needed..
Clean, helpful, fully stocked. Great service. They also have kitchen supplies and small appliances. Definitely stop by here before deciding you have to buy some little thing on amazon.
No disrespect to prior owners but the 2020 Beacon Hardware is AWESOME. Large assortment and inventory of tools, fasteners, cleaning and other household items. Pricing and 7 day return policy is totally fair for what they offer: a chance to inspect items IRL, ask for help, not have to open and break down shipping boxes or buy more than you need! Thrilled to have this retail convenience and neighbor.
I went in for the first time last week and was amazed by how well the place is layed out. Everything is crystal clear, staff was helpful, and prices were excellent. Definitely a step up
Great selection!
Walked in for the first time tonight and was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help. I explained that I needed screws for “the thing in my bathtub, not the drain, the other thing” (which I now know is an “overflow drain”. Without a moment of hesitation, the employee nodded, walked to a different section, and came back with a tiny packet with two screws costing about $2. The screws looked too thick, and I was almost certain they wouldn’t fit, but the employee seemed like he knew what he was talking about, so I went for it. Sure enough, the screws were exactly right. This is the perfect neighborhood spot. Highly recommend!
Buy items with caution. They do not follow their own return policy. Go to Home Depot instead
Great neighborhood hardware store
Steve was terrific! I popped in on Sunday afternoon to purchase some new light bulbs for my apartment. Steve knew his products well and offered to test out the bulbs so that I could see their intensity before purchasing. Great service, great products, and great to shop local! Thanks!
How could you not LOVE Beacon paint? it is a neighborhood store with everything including the coolest staff. They love dogs. They are fun and their prices are fair. i swear on my life I am not related to any of them and I truly believe that any bad reviews come from people who are inherently angry and would not like anything. Also they deliver and if they close I would leave the Upper West Side!
Great shop. Ive come in here a few times for this and that and they never disappoint. Tell them what you need and they find it in two seconds. Done! On with your project, no wandering off into the aisles and coming back like its 40 years later and now youre the royalty of Narnia. Theyre always nice to me no matter how cheap or expensive or ridiculous (...you need how much sand?) the thing Im asking for is. Prices are fair for the area youre in. Theyll even help you make sure youve got all the pieces you need and that you know how to work the thing youre buying. Thanks to the convenience and good service its just a higher level of hardware store.
I was lied to for a tape sale. I asked for 2 painters tape. The salesman, albeit friendly and helpful, pulls out his measuring tape measures the width of the tape and hands it to me, Two inches! This is after I repeatedly express to him that 1.88 etc. would not work for me. I get it home to discover it was 1 7/8.
Ok always seems to be closed. i think they close too early. and for a store that size they seem to be be low on inventory. i usually end up going to janovic or basic plus or gartners
Great store. Been around from ages. They have what you need and at fair prices. Great guys in the shop that are a neighborhood fixture
All paint cans purchased have dents in them which didnt bother me until i saw 1 of them was punctured and leaking a bit slowly. Ill have to ask them how they managed to fill it up with a hole in the middle. Thats some next level wizard shyt. It couldve been worse 4/5 stars.
Staff nice but prices can be high.Benjamin Moore Regal gallon - List price: $50-$55; Beacon $59.Scotch Blue painters tape 1x60 yds - Home Depot: $6.90; Beacon charged me $11.99. No prices posted on many items.Convenient for the UWS, but pricey.
Real neighborhood hardware store. Helpful, friendly staff. The city needs more of these kinds of shops.
I walked in today with my 8 year old son looking for some paint for my apartment. After standing there for like 10 minutes making eye contact with several staff members and they just went about their business. I asked a middle aged man can I get some help with the paint section. He then walked over to me and said..... the paints you are looking at are 69 dollars a can maybe you should look at those over there...they are cheaper...Wow.....talk about racial discrimination ......he then had another customer walk through the door and say I bought this paint and I dont need it....he then turned around and walked away with the customer who just walked in and left me standing there to help him....I stood there a few minutes more till I finally walked out and went to Home Depot....I needed 10 cans of grey paint.....I thought going to my neighborhood hardware store would be better service than a big store but ....WRONG....they treated me poorly and assumed maybe I couldnt afford the paint....Thats why these large stores and pitting the smaller ones out of business.....CUSTOMER SERVICE....
The reviews from before February 2020 are for my familys business.BEACON PAINT & HARDWARE. We were there for 120 years. Beacon Hardware is not connected to Beacon Paint & Hardware in any shape or form.
A tiny hardware store on the Upper West Side, Beacon Pain and Hardware exists for the convenience it offers. A tiny cramped store, common household basics can be found here: ACs, extension cords, lightbulbs, even tile spacers. Staff is friendly and helpful. A decent option when you need something for your apartment and a run to a larger hardware store isnt necessary.
Got everything for my apartment!
Friendly service, ready to help with ideas, alternative solutions or an alternative supplier if they do not have in stock what you are looking for.
Bruce Stark outright lied -This place flat-out stinks and I will never make the mistake of doing business with them again. Bruce Stark outright lied to me about my order and when I brought this to his attention, he lied yet again. This kind of condescending behavior is unacceptable. There is no good reason to trust this merchant. Take care of the customer, or else someone else will. Thank God for Home Depot!
Has always had what i needed. Plus that dog is cute.
My new neighborhood go-to! Surprisingly better selection than Lowe’s for smaller hardware needs and much more accessible.
Always personable and willing to help :)
This is so bad attitude. They have man who hate everyone. Playing smart guy. I bring the things with paint on it. Im asking can you scann the collor he make so much problems to do that. On the and I wating for ever to get this paint. I ask fo name of this color, he talking to me the nane of the collor your name. Im contractor how I should explain to the owner the color we used. Never come back. Highly recommend it if you want ruine your day. Hope they will closed forever.
Great spot with great people.
Called, asked for a specific product. Confirmed they had it over the phone. Showed up, didnt have it at all. Waste of 2 subway rides.
Amazing costumer service!!
