I’ve been coming to this location since March only due to it being conveniently close to my home. One thing I can promise anyone looking to shop here is when shopping for produce you will find mole. Usually one the strawberries and the scotch bonnet peppers. The lettuce, spinach and bagged mixed vegetables are always passed the expiration date you have to dig and if you are lucky you will find a bag maybe two days short of expiration. The meat isn’t too fresh sometimes they are discolored(dark blue/ purple) They have a decent selection in the frozen isle if that’s what you are into. My biggest issue with this location is the customer service. I’ve never had a issue personally which the prices but I’ve seen them not honor a display sign due to their error on multiple occasions. What I have experienced is the cashiers not being polite they do not great you and at times I have to say “hello” multiple times before they find the strength to utter a “hey” today cashier MARELIN Scanned my items and didn’t bag them usually they do but honestly it wouldn’t be a issue if I didn’t have my infant child with me. She stood there blank face leaning on the counter next to the register and watched me bagged 29 items struggling and didn’t even flinch, just lazy. Lucky my husband came in to help after I texted him. I suggest anyone who has another option to shop elsewhere.

I really dislike going to this particular supermarket but as its in the neighborhood, I frequent it. Decent selection of most things. I often take the train into the city to head to a Trader Joes or Whole Foods over this. Fruit from this store often is on the brink of death and the salad bags are always brown and gooey. Not impressed.

Ive been going to this market for over 20 plus years. It use to be C-Town. For Harlem, the prices arent too bad. The store is clean, well stocked and the meats + produce are pretty fresh. Nice presentation of fruits + veggies on display. The staff is pleasant as well. Dont forget to use your store card for the weekly discounts.

After going to the one on 163rd, I went here for the first time in about 15 years to see that the whole store had been renovated. Their selection is just as good as 163rd, but the only downside was that inventory is stack very high with no extension grippers in sight to get these 8 feet high items. You will have to be 62-64 in height to reach some items, I used a unattended mop to get one of my purchase items. Other than that, one of the better supermarkets in the area. You will find a good variety of products you wont find on Broadway in this area

This is a great place to get any products that you want. Clean, but cashiers never know prices on sale.

Ive always had a pleasant experience while i shopped at this supermarket location. People are respectful and lines may be long at times, but its always moving. I would only say at closing time they might close 5 to 10 minutes earlier then expected online and the hours on the front door arent valid. I only know because i saw some residence trying to get in 5 minutes before closing asking the door man if they can enter to grab something real fast and they got very upset, because they denied entry and stated their manager said its closed already. So if you need to pick something up real quick dont try 5-10 minutes before closing try maybe 15 minutes before so you wont get denied access to enter.

The Supermarket is much better than it was before. They have fresh vegetables, brighter lights so you can see what you are purchasing, more organized foods, a variety of foods, vegan, soy, etc. The only thing I wish they could work on is their aisle size, the aisle are very narrow, its hard for two people to pass. It also would be good if they had some cashiers that spoke English, as everyone does not speak Spanish. Overall a very nice Supermarket.

An organized store which uses its limited space wisely. Its quite easy to navigate and find the necessary items. Social distancing is not possible due to the square footage, so they should limit the number of people inside. Unfortunately, its not a covid safe business. Another terrible issue is that they sell bags that are basically single use as reusable for dirt cheap. It actually takes more resources to produce these bags, so they worked around the single use plastic ban in such a way that increases CO2 footprint. Unacceptable.

Foodtown doesnt stock enough specialty food items, ie; tahini paste, truffle cheese, etc.

I gave the place a four star because the staff were willing to go out of their way to get you what you needed if it wasnt stocked. However the place can try to stock as fast as the items run out. Yet it all the staff were nice and its location off of the train is very convenient for locals.

Always love going to Foodtown on St. Nicholas Ave. Best people and the best selection. Unfortunately I moved to the Bronx 2 weeks ago so I dont shop there anymore and I desperately miss it.

I hate leaving places and feeling like I took an L... but then I realized, it’s Foodtown & not SuperFoodtown. Furthermore, If y’all are going to do 2 for $1 bags, then putting me on to the “sale” would’ve been nice.

This place is much improved over the “bad old days” from before the big remodel. Selection is good, although what they carry can change randomly. What is really annoying is that they restock the store during open hours, clogging the aisles blocking the shelves with walls of boxes. If they did stock work after hours, I’d give them 4 stars.

Good variety of food, but everytime I visit theres only 1 or 2 cashiers so the lines are long and slow.

Tried going here Saturday night 5 minutes before close to pick up one thing, knew right where it was in the store and they wouldnt let me in, went back on another day, went to a register that had the open light lit only to discover no one was there, I asked I was ignored...when someone finally came they told me to wait while they walked around talking to someone then acted like them ringing me up for my two cartons of oat milk was a favor...the employees at this store need to understand they are working a job in a customer service industry not sitting around their apartment ignoring people at their leisure

Last night was my first time within any foodtown franchise. I am impressed, good food goes along way towards making and breaking a persons day. So the better the food.... Well you know the rest, but do you know about Foodtown fresh food regular resupply deliveries, great selection of varietyfoods both in brands and choices of edibles. Prices range from moderate to chic. So if your the type to care and splurge on your palette 🤗 stomach...,try fodtown youll enjoy.

Ive been to Foodtown of St. Nicholas Ave twice since moving into the neighborhood and have gotten a better feel of the store layout the 2nd time. The staff is polite and helpful. I guess the more you shop there you will get use to it.

Found everything. The space is a bit small but they pack a bunch of stuff in there. I had to shovel my car out and they very nicely let me borrow a shovel for a little bit :)

Pros: it is a decent store, has all the basics and a bit more.Cons: sometimes the line is too long and their conditioning is too high

Great customer service and selection of items

If you’re looking for fish sauce, beyond burgers, & decent produce— this one is your bet between the five stores I tried in the area. Feels clean & fairly modern, though it’s a bit wee. That said, they manage the social distancing and crowds well.

The supermarket is small but with a great variety of things. Very neat and clean! No complaints about that but just make sure you check your receipt before you leave or just pay attention on the cash register at what you being charged to make sure the prices on your purchase match the sale prices they advertise on the Flyers or the products for the day. It happens to me many times that when Im back home I realized that Ive been charged the full price when the item was advertised on sale for much less. Just be aware of that!! Its a matter of principle!!

Crowding is an issue...employees constantly moving deliveries & leaving them in overcrowded aisles! Lotto issues seem to be more of a priority, which causes longer line/time issues!

This place has become a go to for us. The food is now excellent and always something new and fun. Very reasonably priced and you wont leave hungry.Then do your shopping for great produce and anything else you need (the alcohol section rocks -lol).

Love this place for its location. Anytime Im at my friends place and we need food, I just walk downstairs and its not even 50 steps away. The prices are about average for NYC grocery stores, so dont expect to find a steal. The store is clean and correct which means it gets pretty tight when its busy, so try to avoid peak hours. And of course my favorite thing, they take Google Pay!

I shop here because it right around the corner from where I live, but I personally don’t care for it. It’s over priced, and even when you sign up for a club card and have it scanned when you check it, you don’t always get the discounts. Idk if the sales are always updated in the system or what but if you don’t pay attention at check out, you aren’t saving money. For example there was a sale on the Natures Own bread. It was 2 for $5 with the club card. I bought 2 loafs of wheat and 2 loafs white. I didn’t realize until I got home and checked my receipt that I didn’t get the discount. I paid what ever they are at regular price. There was also a sale on Wishbone Blue Cheese dressing for $1.99. That I paid full price. I didn’t bother to go back because it always a hot mess in that store busy and always a line for customer service. I just pay attention every time I check out. I don’t care if the cashier checking me out or the customers in line waiting get irritated! I work hard for my money and I refuse to be taken advantage of by the store!I’m not writing this review to bad mouth the store, but I hope they read this and look into this, it’s not fair to the customers. It shouldn’t be our responsibility to remember ever sale item we have so we know we are getting those discounts at check out! They should be updated in the system and taken off at check out.*please customers just make sure your checking your receipts and pay attention a check out. Unless you like paying full price, I’m telling you pay attention!

Family owned, good selection. They dont have something you want, ask them to order it.My one complaint and this really is annoying...the aisle are stacked with boxes and workers stocking shelves during the entire time its open. Its convenient and has some of the items I like. Only problem is whenever items are on sale, the sale prices dont come up at register which then makes convenience a hassle and timely. On a few occasions, I didnt check my receipt until I arrived home and I found I was over charged. When I come back to store, the manger always rectify the difference. Now I check my receipt and watch the prices at the register. They should make sure all sale items are in the system for better customer service & quicker process.

Foodtown Supermarket is only two blocks away from where I live. Its a large supermarket and carry most of the items I use in my kitchen. They have a large variety of items you dont fine anywhere else. For me is very convenient.

As previous reviews stated, this place is overpriced and the customer services skills are lacking. I am tired of going to Foodtown and being overcharged for items the signs and fliers say are on sale. I wanted to make tacos for dinner one night, and somehow my total came out to be $26 to make them. How does that happen?? Because Im purchasing items that say theyre on sale and actually arent reflecting the register.I called and they acted they were unaware of this problem. Apparently, according to previous reviews, they arent. They offered me to come back for my money. Why continue to overcharge people in the first place?I am no longer going to this place. I went to it because its right where I live, but I will take the extra trip to a place like Trader Joes where I can expect the total Im spending.

The biggest problem with this supermarket is its small. The second is what little space they have, has been packed with a bunch of standing add on displays. Add ons are little items you pick up at the last minute. The store is nice, the customer service is nice. However, the store is way too small for everything they try to fit in it.Dont shop here if you dont like long lines and crowded isles.

Food town on St. Nicholas Ave is great. It is small,but there is a fairly good selection of items and the staff is always courteous and polite. I am glad to have them in the neighborhood.

A whole lot better than it was, still not good enough. Produce is bad, everything else is about two dollars more per item than what youll pay at Fairway. Basically C Town quality at Whole Food prices. It doesnt make any sense. I guess its just in business because of the lack of competition. Dont ask for help trying to find something, theyll be very annoyed with that —and show it!

This store is very convenient and has a lot of organic products. Actually, I cut my trips to whole foods by half since I started shopping at this particular store. The staff is SO FRIENDLY and helpful. I love this store.

We love this store and have shopped here for years. Its newly renovated after a big fire. The store is very clean, wwell-organized and well-stocked. The price of meat is a bit high. However, most other items are reasonably priced .

For this area of town, probably the best of grocery stores: good quality and selection of fresh produce; nice choice of some of the better cheeses, meats, breads and specialty items. Sadly, again - for this area of New York - prices are high, so I would still recommend making the trip to the new Trader Joes on the upper UWS.

My favorite Neighborhood Place. Burnt down and they rebuilt it. A bit cramped but fairly diverse products. Prices are okay especially if you use their membership card. Staff sometimes dont have a clue about their own products. But regular staff working very hard to keep the place neat and stocked.Good stock of Latino products. Meat section ok. No custom butcher.

The store is small but has a great selection of basic household needs, great produce selection, and a wonderful deli counter featuring store prepared food and cooked meats. You can also find quality items like sprouted bread, gourmet hummus, and specialty teas here.

People seems friendly. We found some organic vegetable (but not enough !) and some first necessary products. All is quite expensive and I dont really trust their meat (seems old and not fresh)
