I love this place! The food is fresh and a ton of Asian ingredients. I get my duck eggs and other fun ingredients from here. A little small but big enough that its a real supermarket.
Best place in the area to get fresh seafood and the produce is always top notch. The employees are always so friendly and pack the bags perfectly. Grocery shopping can feel like a chore; HMart makes it a delight.
This is the best place to find specialty food products from Asia. Also, the selection of veggies and meat is fantastic. The store is always clean, organized, and stocked.
I like everything about this store except for this short non-Asian girl who works at the cashier. All the other cashiers and security guards are friendly with great service. But she never says hi or thank you. If you have a bag, other cashiers take the bag and put your items in the bag for you. You tell her you have a bag and try to give it to her, she ignores you and expects you to put them in the bag yourself. But she doesn’t tell you that though, she expects you to figure it out yourself. She says one thing well though. She yells Next! She always ruins otherwise a great shopping experience with great service. This needed to be said.
This is a chain store, but each seems different. This is the one by my apartment and the one I go to most often. They offer a variety of Korean foods. Many you will recognize while others are foreign to me. Many kinds of Korean noodles to boil and add to soups. Many kinds of ramens, sauces, toiletry items for men and women. Prepared items of foods and some American items, but not many. Employees could be a little friendlier.
Disappointed multiple times after buying meat products here. Packaging of the meats are done such a way that you can only see nice outer layering but once you open it, you would see a junk of fat covering the majority of the product. Marinated pork belly is another disappointment. You have such a random sized pieces of meat from different part of pork as if the package was collecting all the left over meat after packaging other products. If you want to buy proper korean bbq meat, i advise you to visit other H-mart locations.
Wonderful store. Great selection of snacks and pantry items and frozen goods and excellent, high quality produce. Also a small but nice section with household items.
Great hot deli, pickled side dishes, and fresh produce selection. Good variety of seafood and meat as well, including hot pot meat. Lots of houseware and beauty supplies as well. Love this store.
Love this place. It’s a shame the guards follow me around the store the entire time. I understand theft is an issue but please just watch the cameras or something. It’s so bad that I’ve considered just…. Not returning. I just pretend it’s not happening but it hurts to be treated like a thief for no reason. Security acts like you’re in a jewelers. God forbid you have a tattoo and walk in here 🙃
Love this place! Anyone looking for ingredients for almost all kinds of Asian foods, this is your go to place. The owner and the staffs are also kind and friendly.
I’m disappointed with the wait time to check out on weeknights, especially today on 9/14. It shouldn’t take 20-30 mins to check out a few items. They have a tendency of scanning items rather slowly to begin with and this created an incredibly long line in the store and outside as well. Perhaps for the evenings only, they should consider an express check out line.
Very impressive variety of super fresh Asian and western produce, spices, dried foods. Large fish area, very fresh, exotic Asian mollusks, etc plus good frozen fillets. The butcher counter has meats already prepared in the very thin shabu-shabu cuts. We went for some ethnic meal ingredients and discovered we could buy all of our groceries there. H Mart is well priced, spotless, a fun shopping experience.
Great selection of produce and Asian groceries. They even have a lot of keto snacks!
Kinda expensive, but great place to go for Asian groceries in the area. Try the Samyang 2x Spicy noodles or the Ghost Pepper noodles if you want something really spicy.
The best grocery in NYC for everything not just Korean foods, but the Korean stuff is really amazing. So much interesting and delicious foods.
Always happy whenever I do shopping at H-mart. I appreciate the imported cooking ingredients available that dont carry as many chemical preservatives as some products have produced here in the states. Its helped expand my cooking options with more choices. Oh also their Korean sweet cakes are out of this world. Would definitely recommend.
Convenient Asian goods, fresh meat, seafood, vegetables and fruit. You will find sauces, spices, dumplings, household goods, snacks, fried chicken, soups, kimchi, etc.
It very well might be a great supermarket, but I saw maybe 1 thing Id buy. Otherwise theres nothing, for me.
Theyve got Asian snacks drinks and vegetables. Great sushi and prepared food. I even got some gifts for my mom. The only thing I wish they had that they dont is a dining area
Very good selection of East Asian foods and products - better than I’ve seen at other h-marts. But no Hispanic section and it is a little more pricey than other branches.
I absolutely love this place. Its kind of small and very narrow but they have good amount of items and goods. They also have pans, pots, and other kitchen supplies. The staffs are not bad.
Im rating to support those who have shared their experience regarding being racially profiled. Surprisingly I did not have an encounter with security but I did start to feel suspiciously curious and uncomfortable about being followed and watched by employees. I brushed it off as me just shopping too long. the aisles are narrow and I do take waaay to long to shop, reading labels and all. Plus I was unsure and in awe of all the items so not only was I spending way too much time in there but I didnt have much in my basket to show for the time I spent there. So I didnt think much of it. And felt perhaps I was being suspicious myself. However, when I got to the register, the check out woman was nasty to me and when I went to use my Platinum Visa Card to pay she replied Oh- I thought that was an EBT (foodstamp) card. For those who dont know, EBT cards are blue and white and looks nothing like a Visa Card that has a chip in it. I replied, no, its a visa card. And the woman just went on about her job without even apologizing for labeling me with a stereotype. It goes to show that stereotypes arent proven correct due to peoples actions. Instead stereotypes are considered true well before the encounter and people use select situations to support their stereotypical beliefs.I apologize to all the WOC who had to deal with profiling from this store. You deserve better.
Cramped but has a good, dense selection of Asian goods. Just enough produce, focused on specifically Asian things: you can get everything else at a normal grocery store or bodega. But plenty of teas, noodles, frozen foods etc.
Ive realized that the past few weeks Ive been going to Hmart maybe every other day. Sometimes Im picking up a meal for that day, and sometimes I am picking up a meal for the week. I always end up at the store though. I really love getting the sushi in the front, definitely recommend people going early as possible so that they have more options available to them. A very clean store, extremely friendly, definitely recommend to everyone that they should visit.
BEWARE - prices on the shelf *do not* always match at the register. I found it suspicious but as i was price checking my item, another woman checking out right next to me had the same issue while she was paying (her item ended up more expensive at the cash register). Other than the shady business, great products and market.
Transported me back to living in Seoul and my grocery shopping experiences living there. Excellent fish market and meat section. Aisles are rather narrow so go early on a Monday morning to shop in peace.
Excellent kimchi and banchan!!
Love this place they have the best vegetables and a great selection of seafood including live crawfish in summer
Great selection of Asian(Japanese and Korean) food stuff.
1. Great selection of products 2. Clean and organized 3. Great central location 4. Very accessible to public transportation 5. Reasonable prices considering the good quality of food 6. Friendly and courteous staff
Great variety of produce, wish it wasnt wrapped in plastic.
Pretty overpriced and small selection. Id rather make the hike to Chinatown proper.
Such a amazing place i love asian food so i love going there to get my snacks and food amazing 10/10
Has most everything you would need, but Asian. Cooking utensils, drinks, seafood.
Good store with a great selection of products. It is pretty expensive though for the type of products they sell.
Clean store with remarkably fresh veggies and a solid selection of Korean + asian essentials. I like it better than the HMart in ktown (around 34th)
I lived in Korea and Japan for several years, and this place has every product from Korea (and a bunch from Japan) that you could want. Their hot food bar is worthwhile too, with decent bowls and snacks to go. Fresh fish selection is also solid, the best in the neighborhood.
It is always a good experience. The place is clean. I usually arrive when its not crowded so I cant speak on social distancing protocols. I saw a container of disinfecting wipes by the front door so there is the assumption that they are utilized by the store or by the customers at some point. The four stars is more about expectations versus reality moreso than an indication of poor upkeep or service. My expectations was for there to be a variety of Asian items that I couldnt find anywhere else. The reality was there were a lot of American brands which I get because people want variety. However my expectations was to find items that I was told I would find in an Asian market but they werent there.Perhaps it was to cater to the neighborhood and provide a one stop shop for people. I dont know. I just wish it had a wider variety of Asian products. That doesnt mean that it is a bad thing. Again it was just my expectations differed from reality.
A lot to various things of all kind of foods and delicious dessert and snack you can spend a lot of time searching for yummy food
I have been living in this neighborhood for a couple of years and this hmart is a blessing. This is a soft open, according to the flyer on the door and they generally close ~ 10.30 in the nights. Overall the location is amazing as its right next to the subway and they have pretty all manner of things. But the size is not that large and the layout is not the most intuitive. You enter on the right, the left door is for the exit. The doors are automatic. On entering you see the veggies section, go past it for the small dairy and juices section. This leads to a space with household items for all manner of things from cheap China to shower curtains to cookers. Go past this to see Multiple ailes with specialized foods, like one for noodles, one for instant noodles, one for condiments etc ( Hurrah for roasted seaweed ). The meat section is all the way to your right. Go straight past the aisle to find the frozen section with all manner of frozen foods from dumplings to microwave dishes. The line for the counters usually start in here and they already seem to be growing in size. You pay for the items and exit. Only things I didnt like were that all items were not labelled with price, the aisles did not have any signs near them and the layout was not very intuitive. Nevertheless amazing we have a hmart here now. Keep up the good work guys.
As others have noted, expect to be racially profiled and followed around & challenged by security and employees. At my most recent visit, I was only in the store for 10-15 minutes and was approached by TWO security guards and watched by a store employee as I placed my items on the counter to checkout. Unfortunately, the great selection isnt worth this kind of treatment.
Great selection but 2 of the cashiers were extremely rude for no reason.
Keep your hand on your wallet in this place. Advertised “specials” (signs on the shelf, often handwritten) may not end up as advertised at the register. A sign for “premium” coconut milk for $2.49 was $3.99 on my receipt. Happened once before when I was charged regular price for “sale” on dried mushrooms. Didn’t notice until I reached home. Called the store about my receipt and Asst Manager said it was a coconut milk not marked “premium” that was on sale. But sign said Premium. He said he took a picture. Probably changed the sign.
OH MY GOD THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!! DEALS DEALS DEALS!!! GREAT PRODUCTS...wait why was i yelling lol
Great selection but security is rude and invasive.
Its a 15 minute walk from where I live but Im happy to spend a little extra time to swing by H-Mart once in a while, they have very good fish, the vegetables are fresh and I love Asian food
Super nasty security guard there. I was shopping there earlier today was taking an entertainment video for a friend with a stuffed animal I happen to carry. All of a sudden this security came to me telling me I cannot take a video, I don’t want to use the word harassing easily, but he was in such a nasty tone and kept a bit too close to my distance. He almost took me to see the manager, however I requested let the manager come to see me instead. Came the manager, not sure what to do, came another one, asked me how long is the video going to be… I said a few seconds, is it ok? Finally I got an OK. None of these people here are professional nor know what they are doing. I would be really curious if by law I can not take a video of my own stuff in public, and has to be under certain time? This is no way to grow business/to treat a customer, especially with so many online platforms. I really hope fire that nasty security guard !
I loved it so much. They have many delicious and unique products. Totally recommend!!
This makes my 3rd visit to this store from one year ago, and my experience this time was way more pleasurable and I enjoyed this:Being left alone to browse the aisles at my own pace, helpful, noticed and appreciated because you will immediately see all the choice and itll relax you for a spell... My advice is if you begin to feel overwhelmed, just go to the register to pay for what you came for initially & thats cool, because theres always a next time, its probably just ramen, right? Maybe?
Good selection. Amazing meat and seafood section.
Largest select of veggies, seldom seen in supermarkets and bodega in manhattan
Gavino Helped me find all the items to make a drunken noodle recipe. He took his time and googled the correct noodles and walked me over to each item I needed. I will definitely be a return shopper because of this.
Hmart is always awesome no matter the location.
Nice to have an Asian market in the area. However, be prepared to pay city prices for the convenience.
Not a super big store. Generally a little more pricy than other places, but has so many nice Asian food/desserts etc. Theres a lot of ingredients for hotpot such as fishballs and meat slices. Good seafood selection as well. Reasonable priced sea urchin, salmon and sashimi. Cooked food is 30% off after 8pm.
Terrific place to shop for Asian meats, spices and various delights. The quality is top-tier and the staff is friendly. No long lines. Highly recommended if making beef and lamb shabu shabu. Razor thin cuts that is great for a light sear with vegetables and soups.
I love going into Hmart!! Im always finding new cookies/cakes and chips and just treats galore. I spend 20 minutes alone picking out a new ramen flavor to try. I also love going in here because some times when I want to make hot pot the ingredients I want arent always available at near by grocery stores so its a perfect stop for all my needs.
I came in carrying my board like a brief case by my side to buy some Ramen, I was told I wasnt allowed to bring my board inside the store. I guess Ill just order my Ramen online.Took the time to browse their other reviews, quite a lot of reviews pointing out the security guards racially profile their customers. If you have brown skin be prepared to be treated like a criminal. This place is aching to have large loud gatherings of protestors.
Its smaller than the one I usually go to, but it has just about everything. I love this store.
The security guard shadowed me for the first 10 minutes of my shopping experience. He then met me at the exit and stared me down. Im a WOC and that doesnt feel to good. I browsed got some snacks and left. I felt a little uncomfortable 😕.
Have a lot of Products but very high price very clean an neat.
Spotlessly clean, efficient, and well-managed. A comprehensive selection of high-quality Asian and domestic products. Not really the place to go for western fare, but their peanutbutter selection is surprisingly on point.
They have great Korean fried chicken.
Great selection of vegetables, asian foods, meat and seafood. Nice store.
Good prices. Great variety of chinese, korean, japanese, and western goods.
Great asain food store. A little expensive but all the pre-made food is delicious and made fresh.
I shop here on occasions to get Japanese snacks and their delicious Korean fried chicken everythings a bit pricey but its pretty much worth it having a very large selection of items instead of a limited one I get new types of ramen everytime I go there
I went on Saturday with my daughters and omg they have such a great variety of food beauty products and housewares!!! I will definitely be a regular now. Thanks H Mart for a great experience friendly staff and quality merchandise
Great store. Large variety. Lots of items I dont see anywhere else. Very efficient check out system.
When you need some Asian ingredients and NJ and Chinatown are too far, youll likely find everything you need here! The aisles are a bit tight. You might have to sweep aisles multiple times to find where things are. The staff is nice and will try to help.
The prepared foods are the star of this market. Tofu, soups, chicken, all beautiful at great prices. Packaged items are very pricey though. Incredibly nice staff.
This place has become a godsend during the time of what-shall-not-be-named. When I couldnt find toilet paper, I came here. When I saw the imported Kit Kats, different types of ramen and even their abundant produce department; I stayed!I swear by their grapefruits and their fresh produce. Its a bit pricey in here - Im sure importing matcha green tea Kit Kats isnt cheap - but I usually will spend $9 to try a Flavor you cant readily get here.I also recommend them over other basically glorified bodegas in the hood. You get for regular every day items (think: eggs, milk, cheese) for a decent price. And their ramen is the Bomb..en (sorry had to rhyme).Check it out - its worth the trip!
Very happy they put an H mart in this area because of the large asian population here. the aisles are a little narrow, and it can get crowded after 2pm. but overall its a great establishment
Security guards here discriminate POC. Must be taught at training because they had security following us literally the entire time. I might as well have had them carry my items that I paid in full at the end of my visit.
The Korean fried chicken was good the Onigiri was wack though. The inari is too sweet and needs a bit of sesame oil and sesame seeds to make it more tasty. It is very expensive but hey its an H-mart.
I am from Korea but I try not to shop here too often. Because I am not so sure if they are ethical. There are security guards who walks around and stare at you all the time. Its very aggressive that I never experienced from any other store in NY. But what they do at the counter is often(it has happened to me more than twice), they scan an item twice, so if I dont pay attention, I end up paying the item for doubled price. Who is a thief here? Its very unpleasant shopping time and I definitely wont go to shop daily items here.
They do not enforce capacity limits or social distancing---it is unsafely crowded most of the time. Cashiers dont accept coupons. Its a shame because I used to shop here a lot pre-Covid--they have a great selection! but no more.
Their boss helped me out to repair my old pot. They only charge me $20 for cleaning and looking the inside of machine. I highly recommend this place to who is wanting to try oriental foods in their dish! Try it.
There are two weird things about Hmart:1/ as others have noted, the security guards are AGGRESSIVE. They will literally follow you around the shop. I think anyone that wears a backpack and/or bring and uses their own bag. Ive had this happen on multiple occasions and it is very uncomfortable. They treat you like a criminal if you care about the environment and dont want to touch their dirty shopping baskets (it is a PANDEMIC after all...)!2/ MOLDY PRODUCTS! Yes, I think theres an issue with their refrigerator in the front. I bought two packages of fried tofu (two different brands) and they both molded within two days of purchase (even if expiration date is a month away). I think their refrigerator in the fried tofu / produce section isnt cold enough, which causes the food to spoil.
A very popular place for for fruits, vegetables and shopping thats leans towards Asian foods and treats . I find it to be a very lively place and busy during some parts of the day. A great place to visit on the UWS
Great grocery store, very convenient, and usually not too busy
As an Asian living in the US I do enjoy the food and convenience brought by Hmart. But I have to point out that the cashiers they hired are either sent by my math teacher to make sure I practice my math by re-calculate my receipt or abandoned by their math teacher since they simply can’t type the number correct. The price tag and scanner do wrong calculations as they designed for. And the cashier magically makes your paid item disappear. Don’t worry they will secretly add item to your bag, they only do subtraction at this part. The addition is saved for your bill.So basically, after you have the receipt and you have to go over the math and account the items one by one by yourself. This makes me wondering who’s the real cashier.
Well organized and stocked H Mart, great variery for the space, as it is not very spacious. I was able to find some ramen noodles on sale. Love that they have fresh fruits, Bento boxes and hot food right by the check out
This store has wonderful potential and love all the fresh products. I have asked that there be some signs for various products, ideas on how to use some of the ingredients. I often want to try things but dont buy them because I wouldnt know how to use them.
A little pricey, but, I can find things I cant at the standard markets. I like the premade food cuz I dont always have the ingredients, but, really Im just too damn lazy. High quality fresh items above my local not soFine Fair (i.e. meat, fruit, veggies, etc.)All the staff Ive run into in this location have been extremely nice and helpful.
Clean, great variety. Well curated.A treasure!
