Very relaxing and welcoming ambience. Came here for a birthday lunch and treat for myself and was glad to have a seat inside. Staff was very kind and attentive to ensure patrons received their orders and tables were clean. Ordered a power bowl salad, all ingredients from the spinach to the tomato and avocado were fresh. The scrambled eggs served with the salad were very fluffy and well seasoned. I ordered the chocolate cloud with molten milk. It reminds me of an old fashion non heavy milkshake. Made with cacao chocolate it was very subtle yet flavorful without an over indulgence of chocolate. I will definitely order it once again in the future. Come here for lunch, coffee or a nice treat for yourself.
Definitely a must go place to any chocolate lover and anyone who values good food and amazing service.I cant speak enough about both the servers behind the counter who were super kind and did everything in their power to make everyone in the restaurant happy and pleased. The chocolate over there is simply incredible.
THE BEST COFFEE IN GREENWICH VILLAGE!Blue Stripes is by far the best place to go for Espresso and Cappuccino. I have surveyed the entire area and this coffee shop turns out to be the best, HANDS DOWN. Incredible service and atmosphere! The coffee baristas are very polite, skilled, and are equipped with very high quality machines and ingredients. Not to mention this place also has many superb chocolate products was well! Its a really nice place to sit down in- they even have a little library in the back. I just keep going back several days a week. I am a fan!
Slow service, excellent drinks and food! I would.visit again, the Nutella latte is exquisite!
I had a delicious apple turnover from here today! The woman who served me is the sweetest thing! Best type of customer service!
Best Cacao Coconut Bowl! This place has a homey environment, friendly staff, and delicious food! Highly, highly recommend. I just got back from there and had to rate them right away because of how amazing my experience was!
The place is a chocolate lovers paradise! 🍫 Every single dessert on the menu is a must-try and makes upscale twists on classic desserts (like the Chocolate Clouds drink that makes chocolate mousse drinkable). Definitely try the Perfect Slice, Memories Cake, and the Chocolate Dipped Pretzel! 🥨 The service is impeccable and the ambience is fantastic. I wish they had more spots around NYC! 🗽
Service was a bit slow (waited almost 10 min for a slice of cake that was sitting on the counter). The atmosphere is so nice though. The cake was too sweet but cacao shake with coconut had a great kick with shredded coconuts in it!! Worth a visit, but unless you have a huge sweet tooth, no need for a second visit
New food finds♥️ I love it when I bumped to a place and get surprised with great food! Well, this place has more to offer than what’s on the menu. Has very intimate ambience:). They have a small sitting area with books and comfy chairs. The tap chocolate mouse is worth trying. By way it is FREE with generous serving too-so try it out! They have excellent selections of drinks as well. I tried their hotChocolate and it is absolutely amazing! For one the sweetness is just right. The temperature is perfect. The cashier was very friendly. Great place to hang out. I would definitely come back and bring friends to this place.Happy eating everyone and be well♥️.
Super nice employees, gave me a student discount i didn’t know they had, good food too :)
If you love chocolate this is the place to be!Blue stripes had a great variety of creamy hot chocolates, 100% dark hot chocolates down to all sorts of baked goods including waffles with fruits and a shot of hot chocolate on to mini doughnuts with a chocolate dipping sauce. There are white chocolate options too!The prices are around $10-12 for one of the food dishes and the hot chocolates are $5. Worth every penny, since weve been back 3 times already. Service is of average speed but its worth the wait. There is a restroom at the back and also free tap water too.Make sure to be patient to get a seat to enjoy the experience.
This place is amazing. Honestly, it deserves one more star. They are doing things here that no one else is doing. We tried the cacao pulp juice. Incredible. Our favorite was the wild hot chocolate which is basically ground cocoa nibs and steamed condensed milk (or coconut milk). Amazing. The guy that took our order was named David and he was incredibly helpful and so nice. If you stop in ask for him. We also saw the owner (Oded Brenner himself!) working to make the place better, bussing tables and working on display cases. It’s awesome to see THE guy taking care of the place. Go here. Get the chocolate. Get a pretzel. Get the babka (oh yes it’s good). You won’t be disappointed and seriously there is no better place for hot chocolate in the city.
Dare you not to love this place. Tons of delicious choices. The Turtle Kreamz is amazing. It’s huge and taste like heaven. We also had the black Forrest shake with cake. OMG! Kids loved it. We loved it. The staff was friendly and obviously love their job. The manager/owner was passing out “clouds” - chocolate mousse on draft. Need I say more.
Cute little coffee shop just a block away from Union square! Came here on a Sunday evening after dinner for a nice place to catch up with some friends. The environment wasnt too loud and there was ample seating for my group of four. Got the lava cake, chocolate babka and a dark hot chocolate. The lava cake was drizzled with chocolate syrup. I loved it because the cake was warm and moist but yet not too sweet. The babka was a little sweeter but it was baked to flakey perfection and topped with a drizzle of milk and dark chocolate syrup. On top of being a cafe that serves all types of chocolatey goods, theres also a section of the store that sells cacao related merchandise. I would definitely be back to try out some other food items. Overall, I will definitely drop by again if Im in the area. This is a chocolate lovers dream come true.
Im a loyal customer, I love coming here to get my cappucino, cocoacino and mental brew to go 😋
One of my favourite chocolate shops in manhattan. It’s not easy to find a place where they prepare dark hot chocolate. Their 70% dark hot chocolate is my favourite drink. Rich in flavour and not overly sweetened. Definitely a step above Starbucks, DD and some other big chains in Manhattan. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to try a high quality hot cocoa drink.
Wonderful bourekas, sandwiches and grain bowls recently added to menu. Kudos to Alon Kazdan for bringing new items to the menu and transforming the cafe to more than a chocolate place! Chocolate confections abound but the draw of the cafe will be more widespread to people looking for more than a snack
Im giving this place a 5 star review because Im hoping they will do well and thrive. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff are nice. The fare is delicious so beware! The nutella roll is really good. I would recommend however that they serve the hot chocolate a little more hot.Update: I tried the chocolate tea and it was alright. Mostly just strange. Not the best item on the menu.
Blue stripes cacao shop is started by the same ppl of Max Brenner (mentioned outside store), the ambience is unique in here like a classic coffee shop serving desserts. They have a unique collection of chocolate and you could try their shots before purchase. Overall great place for chocolate lovers. They also offer well decorated take-outs.
The ultimate hot chocolate! The Nutella hot chocolate is my favorite hot chocolate in all of nyc. I recommend this place as the staff is super friendly and the interior of Blue Stripes is amazingly cozy. The food labels aren’t always the clearest when it comes to their desserts as they’re so close together but their drinks and foods to not disappoint!
This place looked amazing from the pics and reviews I saw. I got a couple of things to try, the chocolate covered pretzel (milk chocolate) and a Nutella Foam Cloud drink. The pretzel was amazingly chocolatey and absolutely scrumptious with the right amount of salt to offset the sweetness. However, the Nutella drink was not to my liking, or of the liking of anyone else in my party, it had a weird taste that just didnt sit right with any of us. I think this is the first time Ive ever had anything at all to negatively say anything about a Nutella infused product.Overall, the place was a great find and I would definitely go back and try other chocolatey goodness. The ambiance was quietish, with people sitting towards the front doing some work and others carrying on low-volume conversations. Id recommend checking it out, if you need some more chocolate in your life.
Amazing place with such a great attitude from all the stuff!!Definitely my morning spot!
A comfortable and charming little shop with some interesting items. I tried the hot chocolate (just okay), the hazelnut chocolate striped cake, and the chocolate dipped nyc-street-style pretzel. The cake was alright, very sweet, with a crunchy layers rather than mousse or soft ganache layers. The pretzel was really yummy, with the salt adding a nice counterpoint to sweet melted chocolate. Pretty messy to eat though. The cafe staff were kind and friendly, but the items are served on flat cardboard plates with wooden spoons that were really unpleasant to eat with. If I go back, Ill bring my own cutlery! If you like chocolate but dont like things too sweet, stay away from the milk chocolate. 🍫❤️🍫
Great place with a unique vibe and delicious bites!
Ive been here several times since it opened. There are several things I love about this place. First of all, it is owned by Max Brenner. The quality of the desserts is amazing, and I believe there is even more variety. The chocolate really tastes like chocolate and everything is rich and decadant. The second thing is, it is casual. Unlike Max Brenner, it is smaller and more like a cute cozy cafe than a restaurant. So if you feel like stopping in for a dessert and a coffee, this is the place! You dont have to wait on a waitress or feel bad for not ordering a full meal. No negative things to say about this place. If you love chocolate, go here!!
When i visited before the pandemic, my family and i were treated by friendly staff and the coolest atmosphere. the desserts themselves were awesome and their products were also cool. i’ve been here around 3 times because we liked it so much!
Soooooo good. In the beginning. After drinking a cup of hot chocolate (with chocolate on top) and a chocolate croissant and a chocolate on the side... then you will feel like throwing up hahaha. But it was very good. And a fun experience. Everything looked amazing and everything was prepared like art. Mmm 🍫🤤
Blue Stripes has absolutely earned its stripes via friendly service, brilliant ambiance, and delicious dessert. A partner to the nearby Max Brenner Chocolate Bar, I cant imagine you miss out on anything by opting for Blue Stripes - and you can even get a seat here! Ill definitely come back the next time I find myself around Union Square.
The croissants sandwiches are so scrumptious! It was the best iced late Ive had, and the staff was so friendly and answered my million questions!!
This site has very interesting and yummy selection of products.
It was almost perfect but for a few let downs. The good- the perfect slice with bananas and caramel was indeed perfect. Just sweet enough and combined with the salty peanuts and gooey banana it was heaven. The cloud drink was equally enjoyable again balancing the chocolate goodness with a texture and a sweetness that is just right. The bad - the chocolate pizza was disappointing. It was extremely messy to eat but mostly way too sweet. After two bites i couldnt eat any more. But my main problem was with the single use plastic. I dont see why reusable utensils can not be supplied in a restaurant that has many sit down options. Cutting that messy pizza with a plastic knife would have been impossible to say nothing about the environmental impact of single use utensils.
I have gone here to get a cup a coffee before work or class. And every time it takes about 10-15 minutes. And for the last four times I have come in they have messed up my order. A hot dark chocolate mocha with oat milk. Today they gave me an iced milk chocolate with whole milk. They should really be focusing on what customers order. Especially since we are spending $5-8 on a single drink and waiting for 10-15 minutes. But the other times that I have gotten my drink it’s been very good, I recommend the egg croissant sandwich.
Wonderful cacao creations. So delicious. Stop by and pick up a warm beverage or an iced hot chocolate. They let you choose your level of chocolate from white to very dark.
The most magical experience. Delicious desserts, chocolate, coffee, even healthy smoothies, and breakfast bowls. A welcoming environment to catch up with a friend at the single tables, or co-work for the day at the shared table. The attention to detail and enthusiasm of the founder (the man behind the iconic Max Brenner chain!) show through in the entire experience, from the high-quality ingredients and delicious creations to the ambiance. This is a place with soul and roots.
Wish there had been more variety and disappointed that they didnt keep track of customers. was kept waiting after paying while new customers walked in and got out before me.
Amazing place great vibe! Try and get the wild hot chocolate with coconut condensed milk! The best! And for dessert my favorite one is the warm melting cake with ice cream 🤤 the best!
Typical New York style coffee shop yet very unique in its own way. About the place, it is very well lit, with books, tiny computer stations, wall decor, small indoor plants and the seating area is small but very comfortable for small group of ppl. I ordered the Black Forest cake and shake and it blew my mind. It’s pretty huge in quantity and very yummy. The place serves a variety of chocolate shakes, coffee and cakes. I shared it with my friend and still I was full. Prices are a bit higher when compared to others but I think it’s okay for one time. Overall a very good coffee shop.
Amazing cafe. Cozy and warm. Chocolate mousse is TO DIE FOR. Excellent chocolate milk too. Must must visit
Ive never seen such diversity of cacao based offerings. Every wall looked instagramable, with inspiring art and design covering the surfaces. The baristas were friendly and engaging, helping navigate the menu and offering samples before committing to beverages. Is fast becoming one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood.
Awesome place for a chocolate lover. They have free strawberry water and a tiny library in a cafe. Good vibes. Definitely one of my favorite chocolate places in the city after my first visit.
Delicious babka and pure cocoa-based drinks. A lot of choice, though a bit expensive. Cozy place to read or work, nice neighborhood.
This is one of my favorite spots for chocolate treats in New York. Be ready for decadent options and not being able to make up your kind about what you want. You can take some goodies home and I always bring presents from here, it never disappoints.
Some of the most unique coffee and desserts youll find in the city.
Liked it! Good service and really extensive menu. Glad to see chocolate Shops using more and more cacao.Still mostly sweet and traditional dessert flavors so If youre into that
The hot mocha here (they have dark, milk and white chocolate) is incredible. Think but not overwhelming, the chocolate is prominent and bold. They also serve an array of pastries and prepare chocolate-unrelated foods here too.
Overpriced, wait 30 minutes for my order and they’ve just forgotten part of it, so I have to remind them. Milkshake cost 10$ And Is too sweet and made from cheapest gmo’s milk. And food isn’t tasty at all.
