I was in NO from out of town for my birthday weekend. I got a commemorative tattoo 4/23 Fri evening for my b-day. I have over 20 total. Most of them are in color and many use green. I have never had one lose color like this one did, ever. This did not last 3 days before it started to deteriorate. I did not realize most of it was not outlined as I did not get a peek when done (no, I did not ask for one, either) and did not notice that till later that night changing out the saran-wrap stuck over it. Pic one is the night of. Pic two is 6 days later. Pic 3 is 8 days later. Yes, it gets worse by the day and I will have to pay to have it repaired as its too big to want to cover. I went here due to the reviews and walk-in availability. You got me..... and my money. Too bad cant post 0 stars.*UPDATE* from one star. The owner reached out to me last week and it seems the artist that did the work should not have and offered what felt like a sincere explanation and apology. Regardless, it will have to be covered or redone but the owner did make partial amends and while the outcome could have been much better, Ill take what was offered since its not feasible to return to NO to have it reworked for no additional cost. Thanks for reaching out.

Dusty did the fastest most painless ear piercing for me Ive ever had-I spent less than a minute on the chair. These guys were super chill and you should definitely support their business.

Me and my wife came here back in June 2019 to get tattoos after a concert at the Howling Wolf. We walked here from our hotel around midnight. It was my first tattoo so I was a little unsure about what to expect. I dont remember the guys name, but he was cool as hell. We gave him some ideas, and with the help of a lady that worked there he came up with a great design on his iPad. He was so chill and laid back and talked a lot which made me more comfortable getting my first tat. We ended up being here a couple hours which was fine with us just all of us chatting about different things. We didnt feel rushed at all. Cleanliness was very important to him and that showed during his prep work. It was a great experience that I still talk to my friends about when thinking about new tattoos. And it still looks great to this day. He ended up giving my wife a nose piercing as well before we left. All in all a great experience.

Went to get a finger tattoo, was looking for the guy “bones” but they stated he no longer works their anymore. Sooo I allowed “power ranger” to proceed with the tattoo it was fine getting the the tattoo but as a group of customers walked in she rushed to get up to assist them after finishing. I asked her can she wrap my tattoo or put some ointment “lube” on it, she stated that it was no need to and said it’ll be fine. Today I’m waiting 5 days for the healing process and my tattoo is cracking!! Looks soo thick and nasty. Very disappointed.

Was looking to get a tattoo was passing by here and was convinced by one of the artist to allow power ranger to sketch me a tattoo. I went in and talked to power ranger but felt she had an attitude and she wasn’t really trying to include me on my tattoo design. Another artist I believe dusty came n to try to assist her and they began to argue in front of us as they were sketching the tattoo. I left them with my name and number and what I wanted and asked if a sketch of the tattoo could be sent to me when done I’ve been waiting two days now and have yet to receive a thing. This was a complete waste of an hour of my vacation

I got a helix piercing and it literally took less than 30 seconds. The longest part was the conversation with the piercer. I would definitely think before getting this type of piercing because of the whole mask thing. It hurts like hell when the loop gets caught on the back of the stud and it you wear glasses thats a double whammy 😭Update: After having the piercing for 3 weeks that kept hurting Iike crazy, I went to a piercer back home. It turns out the back of the earring was on too tight causing a huge hole to be in my ear. My ear was extremely sensitive, and I couldnt even have it accidentally bumped-- let alone have my hair touch it without sending a shock through it. The new piercer took the earring out, and I almost screamed. He replaced it with a loop instead of a stud, and I felt instant relief. It bled some from pulling out the original earring, but the healing process started that same day. Its been 4 days now, and my ear has gotten much better. The hole has gone down significantly. If you go here I would definitely make sure that you have room to actually turn the earring before you leave and that there is actual space for the earring to move forward. The back of the earring is not supposed to be poking out far at all.

I got a really nice piece done on my thigh and decided to take my niece back to get her first piercing from the same place and ended up wanting another tattoo to represent me becoming a mother. I was asked out by the tattoo artist to go hang at the casino and was like sure cool. We ended up going eat instead and he was going to go back to the shop and do my tattoo after. I wanted splashes of colors around my outline and ended up with nothing but scars and I’m so hurt.... I reached out to the guy and he didn’t even want to respond to my text or even give me a call back about his horrible job he did on my arm

Got a tattoo here 2 years ago and had a great experience. Planned on getting another on this visit and this was the first place I thought of. Walked in and showed the artist what I wanted and he was incredibly high. Acted like he did not want me there. He also priced much higher than a few other places I checked with after I left. Dont know how a place can have such a significant change in service. I wont be back here. I get a tattoo everywhere I visit and my wife and I come to New Orleans at least 3 times a year with a tattoo almost every time.

Blair and Louie are some of the nicest and greatest tattoo artist around. I have several and no one compares to the care and easy hand that these two have. I got my tragus pierced here. The piercer gave me no information about the healing process. They also used this cheap jewelry that rusted up and did not have secure backing.

I come in from CT to get Dusty to add to my tattoos, and got 3 small-ish pieces done this trip.

This place is so ghetto and unprofessional. I brought my sister to get her nose pierced. She was seated but had to wait for the tattoo artist to finish someone’s tattoo. While we waited they bickered back and forth. After waiting 15 minutes or so, the tattoo artist and a young man walked to the side of the establishment and began FIGHTING. A grown man fighting a little boy. So embarrassing and was such a waste of time.

The piercing process itself was fine, but the customer service around it by the piercer was very questionable. When I asked for an indication of where exactly the piercing was gonna be, I was told there is only one place anyways and instead of worrying about this I should really smoke some weed to relax (okay...), and when I asked about treatment of the piercing I was told it was obviously not the piercers business to tell me about it + that this question made me the whitest experience the piercer has had all day. It seemed very unprofessional to me, as I would expect to receive this kind of information from a professional place. Would not go there again because of this rude behavior towards customers.

I was looking for a tattoo shop late one night and came across Forbidden Arts Tattoo. The services and price were great. The building was extra clean. I would recommend them to anyone.

I was told my a local friend to come to this place. Plus Forbidden is in the name what rebel wouldnt be attracted to that! Lol. I got there right when they opened and like an Erykah Badu concert was waited an hour. The artist was great. He talked the entire time with interesting real shizz. This is the kind if experience you want. I felt comfortable, the place was clean. Very happy with the work. Highly recommend this place.

I wanted a tattoo but the person at the front desk never looked up to welcome me so I walked out after about 10 minutes.

Was visiting New Orleans from Chicago and on my last day there on 3/20/21 i wanted a tattoo.. Went into the shop and Pan was very nice and provided good customer service.. The Guy with the 2 braids on the other hand was rude, and was irritated with everyone and everything maybe it was too early and hes not a morning person. He talked about his coworkers when they stepped away and rushed the entire process. I got 2 small tattoos in which i was charged $100 for. A small ankh behind my ear and the infinity symbol on my middle finger.. Both tatts was done within 5mins top .. And the outcome of my infinity tatt is 2 days later the ink is completely gone. Now i have to find a reliable artist who actually enjoys their job to correct his work.

Loved them! Went for matching tattoos on a girl trip. I loved that Dusty told me to be quiet when I kept going on and on with questions, made suggestions on different placement on our ankles and talked us into black and white shading over color. He even gave us a thorough history lesson on the area and Creole and Cajun people and backgrounds. Raven Bones provided a really great first experience getting a tattoo for me. He is a very professional artist who is dedicated to being very transparent about his work ethic. Bones made sure I saw him opening new sterile packages of equipment pieces he would use for working on my ankle, providing advice on what health and safety signs to watch out for if I was to ever go to other tattoo parlors. I really appreciated that. He was very accommodating in adjusting any particular traits of the tattoo design that we wanted. His coworkers are really nice and fun to be around as well. I’m very happy with my tattoo, my very first one, and glad that Raven Bones was my tattoo artist. He’s a really cool guy, a lifelong New Orleans resident, who is very down-to-earth and kind. I hope to go back one day if I want another tattoo in the future.

So its been a week since I got my tattoo and all I have to say is I love it. Dusty gave good directions to follow for aftercare.The atmosphere was so relaxed not to mention Dusty had me laughing the whole time. I will definitely be a returning customer.

I got my first tattoo at Forbidden Art while on vacation in New Orleans. Trey was welcoming and professional. We hit it off right away. I felt comfortable throughout the experience, feeling like I was in good hands. He did a great job on my tattoo, the lines were tight, bold and solid, just the way I wanted. It looks fantastic. Beginning of the year I got a small, simple tattoo. It has uneven, wonky lines which wouldve been helped if they had put more effort into the stencil - they didnt want to walk down the road for new printer toner so drew it out by hand - shouldve said something but as it was my first tattoo I placed absolute faith in them. 2 star for the shop cleanliness and otherwise good time

My other half and I went to New Orleans for Halloween. We decided to get tattoos while we were there. Apparently so did everyone else. Lol. We were looking for a studio that could take us on short notice. We went to several with no luck because most were closing early for the holiday. The universe pointed us to Forbidden Art. Bravo Universe! We called and they said come on over. Blair was our artist. She was amazing. She drew up our ideas and got us started right away. She was a pleasure to work with. I have never had a better experience anywhere. ( and Im covered in art) She made sure we were happy with the art before she started. This girl got mad skills! I would highly recommend her to anyone going to New Orleans. I gotta say when my boyfriend picked out our tattoos I was skeptical of getting a zombie lady on me for life.....but with Blairs skill....she made it look amazing. Its now my favorite piece of art. Looking forward to going back to her for more on future trips. She is an amazing artist. Best kept secret in New Orleans. Her use of color and shading is outta this world. I’ve been twice and I like the atmosphere, but the first time Dustin did a super simple piece on my wrist that came out pretty bad, wiggly lines, cloudy saturation, etc, and then I came back and got a small piece from Raven and it was a great experience. He’s super personable, lines look great, and he touched up the piece on my wrist for me. Totally changed my perception of the whole place and I’m sure I’ll be back.

Came in randomly on a trip just thinking about something simple. Dusty asked what we had interest in and after showing him some concepts he asked if he could also touch up some older work. Not only did he call out exactly what I was looking for, he made recommendations for the style so it flowed with my other pieces. My boyfriend got a piece he had been thinking about for ages and not only was it well designed he executed perfect circles, a cover up and a band around the arm in no time. Love this spot!

First off thanks for the save Dusty. I started off at hell or high water that must be a reference to their prices. Then they was so one dimensional in my drawing. I wanted realism they said I can only get traditional in their shop. I went to Dusty who not only did what I wanted he exceeded all my dreams. I had an upfront reasonable price. Love this guy. Came to New Orleans for the Essences Music Festival. At 1:00 my friends and I decided to go get tattoos and piercings. We walked in and Blair was very welcoming! She helped us to pick out tattoos and was very patient with helping us pick out font styles while also easing our nerves. The shop was very clean and the small tattoos that we got we were in and out in 20 minutes! I would highly recommend this place!!

I was in vacation in NOLA and wanted to get my first tattoo. While riding a streetcar, I saw Forbidden Art. I did my research and called to see if an appointment was necessary. Not only was I able to come right in, but Ryan took very good care of me. I was so nervous and the experience was much better than I ever thought it could have been. Everyone in the shop made sure I was at ease and they did a great job talking me through the whole experience. I highly recommend Forbidden Art!!!

I went 2 days ago to get my nipples pierced. The guy was sleeping when I came in. When I left I had to ask about care instructions cause they didn’t give me any info. They just said to clean it. No care instruction sheet or anything. When I got home I realized it wasnt plain bars, they had words in them virgin f*** me lick me Today I woke up and they were swollen. I went to a shop in town to check it out and they told me I was pierced through the areola, not the nipple, one was crooked, and that he used tongue rings. I would NEVER recommend going to this place. I paid $70 for 2 days of piercings. Now they are healing before I can get them done again in the correct spot and with the correct type of jewelry.

Stumbled across this shop because it was close to my hotel. Went in to get some pricing at 11:30 pm and loved the staff and their work. My party of 4 left after 2:30AM with 2 new tattoos, 1 color touch up, and a sketch. We were very happy with our artist Eric Quinn and our front desk helper T. Nothing like New Orleans hospitality! Was thrilled to see all of the melanin poppin!
