This is a great shop. I always recommend them to my friends. They are super friendly and always give fair prices. They definitely had opportunities to get more money and take advantage of me but they have always been honest about my car issues. One time I was ready to get an alternator replaced and they showed me it was just a dead battery.

I had initially taken my car to Pep Boys where they had given me an estimate of over $500 to replace the master cylinder. We were so excited to find an honest mechanic at a fair price. But how do you know a mechanic is good beyond how he talks about his work? Youll never know unless you follow up. My sons car was making a noise, we took it in, was told it was the clutch going bad. Odd as the car didnt have even 50K on it. So we were told the entire clutch needed to be replaced. We did. Car still making the noise. Now were told the transmission is going bad. I was a bit skeptical. We took it to a transmission guy who did rebuild the transmission, but found in doing so that not all of the clutch had been replaced. I have a written report stating such. So to fix this we had another clutch installed. So Im done with veterans. Theres not much recourse as he did not give us a receipt for work done and told us we had to pay in cash (I assume to avoid taxes) A problem with my husbands car: he had the timing belt replaced and soon after the check engine light was on. Took car to dealer and found that in one place he had used silicone caulk instead of the needed gasket. Seemed like a cheapo way to fix this and we wouldve never known. Unfortunately, our hopes of finding an honest mechanic was dashed. If I had this to do again, Id pay with a credit card so there could be recourse, Id make sure I got a receipt and had my parts returned. I called him to discuss this and he hung up on me. Buyer beware, we feel taken.

I just moved to Nashville and had hauled all of my familys belongings in our cargo van. When we finished moving in and we were going shopping for furniture, the vans alternator died on the off-ramp of a highway. After looking at reviews on the side of the road I chose Veterans, called a tow truck, and had them drop me off. Veterans said that it was going to take a few days to fix, and gave my wife and I a lift home. Veterans fixed my van within 2 days for a fair price, and even held it for an additional day while I was still moving. They gave a fair price, let me know about an oil seal crack and were polite and professional the entire time. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for an honest and good-priced mechanic.

RIP OFF!! NOT WELL EDUCATED ON REPAIRS ! BROKE MY AXLE!! I was sold on all the fake 5 stars in here so I called in for a wheel bearing job on my car one day, I went in to talk to supposedly the owner named Robert . He said it is a easy fix so I waited . They said they fixed it as I was driving home and stoped on the brakes I heard a cracking noise like my wheel is about to fall off!! It came from the wheel they had repaired . Went home to only figure out my axle had been smashed in half !! The bolt holding it was cracked also !! And on top of the that the wheel bearing noise is still there! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY !! FIND A BETTER MECHANIC, I DO NOT RECOMMEND !! NO WARRANTY ON REPAIRS!

Veterans Auto service is about the best that i have ever visited, fast service and most importantly, they are very honest, and its difficult to really find a honest auto repair, i would recommend veterans auto any day!

No Integrity! Bad Service! Untrained Technicians! = No RefundsI brought my vehicle with 43,000 miles on it to Veterans Auto because of all the “5-star” reviews. My problem was my steering wheel shook above 70mph. I also let them do a 50,000 mile service (oil, filters, tire balance and rotation). They had my vehicle for two days, replaced the front wheel bearings – called me said it was fixed and ready but “the ABS light is on, it won’t go off, but their mechanic checked it out and it’s nothing to worry about”. So I picked it up after hours, started driving and my dash started sounding error bells. My dash started flashing between error messages of an ABS breaking system malfunction and a 4-wheel lock malfunction and my speedometer would stop working… and the original problem of shaking was not fixed.They let me drive off with NO ABS braking system or 4-wheel locking before the snow season. I called and explained what was happening and they said bring it back in. I did, and 2 more days at their shop, Robert called me and said “there was nothing wrong with the work they did and if I wanted to start replacing parts we could, but it will get expensive”.He then went on to tell me the ABS sensors were probably bad due to how bad he claimed the bearings were (43,000 miles probably not) then suggested I take it to the dealership. That’s right, Robert recommend I take it to the dealership. Then he gives a fantastic reason that “they have a recall on the speed sensors, and they will probably replace them for free”. No such recall, and definitely not “free”. I said to Robert this didn’t happen until VA worked on my vehicle. He continued to blame the old bearings that they must have broken the speed sensors. Then I asked why the shaking was not fixed. He again blamed the old bearings must have caused the problem. But that is why I took my vehicle to a mechanic… to fix the shaking.I called VA several times after talking with the dealership and I left voice messages explaining there was no recall and another service at another dealership would cost even more money. They would not answer my calls the rest of the day and have never returned my calls since. At the end of the day, a technician finally answered and I asked him to just put my keys in the car and I’ll pick it up after hours. (Left it unlocked at that)I did take it to the dealership. The dealership diagnosed the ABS, 4-wheel lock, and speedometer problems as “the bearings were installed backwards”. That’s right, VA installed the bearings backwards. I have sent VA a certified letter asking for a refund for only the bearings and the service associated with the bearings. The letter included the dealership’s invoice stating the bearings were installed backwards. No response and no refund as of yet. VA has no integrity to rightfully refund the amount I paid when they performed a very bad service in which I had to take it to a dealership to fix their work which cost me an additional $700. That is an unethical business practice.Oh and the shaking… it was my tire. Not only did I not need new bearings because the problem was my tire, but I paid VA for a tire balance and rotation ($50.00) with the service. That means they didn’t even rotate the tires or the shaking would have went to the rear.

I had been looking for a long time for an honest, skilled and reasonably priced mechanic in the south Nashville area when I came upon M&B Auto Service. I absolutely found what I was looking for. It was a pleasant and professional experience from beginning to end.Ben and Mena, the owners and mechanics for the shop, are honest and transparent about the work they are doing and the related costs. They demonstrated to me that they will not take advantage of anyones ignorance about auto repairs. In my case, they fixed an intake leak and and an exhaust leak (which required replacing the catalytic converter) and did excellent work. In the initial assessment for the repair, Ben and Mena started by listening very attentively as I explained what was happening with the car. Ben took the time to sit down with me and talk about repairs options to ensure I was clear up front what to expect.With the intake leak, it required removing and replacing a broken bolt in the intake manifold, in which they could have had the perfect opportunity to charge more for labor than the time it actually took. But Ben was honest with me and said it he was able to easily remove the broken bolt shaft with pliers rather than having to drill it out and extract it, which would have taken much more time.And M&Bs labor cost is very reasonable. Ben also worked with me on finding an affordable route in replacing the catalytic converter. The work was not only high quality, it was done quickly, and the price was just as stated in the original estimate. I look forward to doing future business with Ben and Mena, and Im so glad theyre right down the street from my house!

My overnight trip to the Music City for some R&R was (unexpectedly) extended by a blown transmission in the 99 Suburban on I-440. When I called the shop, Rob (owner) answered, addressed the Im from GA and this is TN: can I trust you? concerns to my satisfaction and then met the tow truck at the stop to start the work himself on a Saturday afternoon.Why was I ok with shelling out for a new Jasper transmission after all was said and done?Maybe because the price was fair, the repairs were done right in a reasonable amount of time, the fact that he offered a loaner vehicle day one and the day I came to pick it up based on nothing more than a handshake (my truck as collateral, I suppose), the vet to vet dialogue and brass tacks discussion of issues, but I think the real reason was the impromptu waiting room/conversion van that I watched the rest of the UGA/UK game with my buddy before our trans arrived from back home that came replete with reclining chairs, climate control, and curtained windows.Rob might not get repeat business from me since Im not local but I would have been remiss if I didnt say I got the kind of service I expect from a fellow veteran: No frills/sales-pitch service delivered in a straight-forward, personable manner.I may have to send Rob a coffee maker for the van/waiting room, though...seems a shame to not have the total package.
