Really its fantastic and awesome feeling. Apollo15 and Mars space launcher kit. Demo video playing how play station people inside space station more than six months staying there in USA and Russian and Japan standalone space station video experience excellent how they sleeping working day today activities carrying out complete details in video. Got some ideas. Really super. Then sample Mars space suite helmets gravity floating suits weight 150lbs gravity floating.sample stone Mars. Gift shop getting some items logo with NASA and Parking free photos you take as much and water.super computer Apollo and. Mars.much more items. You have to visited this place.
You are allowed to enter as long as you show ID at the gate. There is an air museum towards the back of the park just next to Hangar One, the big metal grid structure. I visited when the museum was closed, but there were plenty of planes outside to view, see the vastness of Hangar One, and visit the SpaceBar for a beer.
Very disappointed with NASA, drove from LA because I read online that have a visitor area there, unfortunately that day was closed,...the problem start when the security guy approaches us, and with very bad face ask us to leave, so I asked him in a very polite way if he can give me some advice on how it work.. and in a very rude way and the worse face he said ..”this is not public and I already told you to leave!.. I was trying to find out if make sense for me to wait one more day at the hotel, and I was in the impression that there is a visitor area there.. I felt so disappointed that I drove back to LA same day, the worse part is the Kids have a high expectations of NASA, and now they perceptions are made base on that experience.. they don’t even want to come back because they feel intimidated for the people that NASA have in the entrance. They are 10 and 11 and the reason of my trip was because one of them chose NASA as a school project. Now he doesn’t want to do it anymore. GOOD JOB NASA!
I wouldnt really consider this a gift shop because I didnt see anything where to buy. But if you want to look at some pretty cool photos and projects, additional works on Stop by. Its not the best. Its actually very generic but its worth a look if youre in the area.
This is a nice exhibition of various projects of NASA including the moon landings. Has a ton of information about space, solar system planets like Mars, rockets NASA launched, etc. Visiting is free. The staff are very friendly and try to answer your questions as well!
I did not expect a lot when I went to Ames. But I was stunned with how much research is done here. I was able to do an inside tour with friends who work in Ames. I was able to see the Artemis moon lander simulator. A lot of wind tunnels. Many lunar research. Amazing place! Oh yeah, the visitor center is now just a gift shop.
I visited this place as a student last February (2019) and absolutely loved the visit. They took us to a fluid dynamics lab and another where they messed with stuff like the mars rovers... Pretty interestingId definitely visit it again and Id probably be blown away again. The tour was so inspiring!Hope you can get the same experience
You will need a picture ID to get in the gate, but once in the parking is good, and the gift shop is very cool. Well worth a visit.
Visited here after the visit to Computer History Museum. Too many clothes based memorabilia here. Finally found some interesting colour changing pencils, mugs and some kids stuff. Most of the tshirt had prints which felt rough and of middling quality. If the tshirt had better print, probably would have bought one.
Awesome gift shop with most NASA merch. Really nice staff and good prices.
This is only a gift shop. No research. No useful exhibits. Total waste of time, except if you want to buy stuff with the NASA brand. Doesn’t NASA have anything better than this? I hope that taxpayer money has not been wasted on this. At least they should change to name to “NASA children’s gift shop. “
Nice place
Good place to visit. The entrance and parking for the visitor center is free. You must do a reservation online if there is group of 10+ visitors. The merchandise is so cool as well. Make sure that you take a selfie with the space suit!
I have no idea why this is tagged as the NASA Ames Research Center. It should be updated to NASA Gift Shop. I was incredibly underwhelmed; they only have a capsule, a few model satellites, a wind tunnel blade and some other small items. Otherwise it’s a straight up gift shop. Not worth your time unless you want a NASA sweatshirt
I put a banjo up into the sky🌟🌠🌟🌠🌟🌠🌟It keeps us moving,Keeps us moving,The strumbellasIt aint worth living if you dont get hurt.♥️
Looks like it was cool at one point but it is closed now.
Sad place. Used to come here at least once a year to see the exhibits. It slowly transformed into just a gift shop with 4-5 exhibits only and a moving on a projector. Should be simply called AMES Gift Shop.
Very nice selection. Better than ours at Glenn!
This review is for the Exploration Center, which rates a solid meh. Its a small exhibit space with a few interesting displays and a replica of part of a space station you can walk inside. A fair bit of the space is occupied by a theatre with some documentaries playing, which seemed pretty interesting.I wouldnt send visitors here unless they were really really really bored, or had a strong interest in space exploration. I took young kids there, and it entertained them for all of 30 minutes (mostly running up and down a ramp).
Amazing place to visit . If i get a chance to work here then it would be a great for me . Its a great place with wow things which make us shock. Great faculty too. Means everything is too good and best to it.
I went to la nasa has so many museum there and all we have is this little mesuem they should just destory this one and build a new with more stuff
It doesnt sound like touristic activity when comes to San Fran although it is definitely worth to get inside. I really enjoyed my time hanging around inside, checking space craft materials and it was a free entry. I would suggest you to check.
Amazing tours, I really enjoyed seeing the wind tunnels and aerodynamics lab. I would definitely go again.
I went here to visit a friend that works at NASA and was surprised to find there was a museum! It was cool to see the history of the space program and NASA as well as the exhibits of the planets...reminded me of a planetarium. My friend gave me a tour around campus and I enjoyed seeing the old buildings and airplanes up close for the first time.
After viewing a short video of it on YouTube, we were excited to drive from Livermore to visit. Walked inside and it was nothing like the video of the same place in 2017. Very disappointed and was a waste of time and gas. Would not recommend.
I have been here twice, once for the Airship ventures and another time for the shuttle endeavor sighting. Overall this place is awesome, love the hangars and the vast space they have. Im glad they are set up so close to where I work that it makes it so easy to spot them from my building and we get to see flights test routes going in and around. If you have not been here make a visit and check it out.
They had a cute museum before. Now they made it an overpriced gift shop with nothing to see.
The visitors center and the gift shop are a disgrace. I was embarrassed to see how neglected the museum is and how little the so-called gift shop had to offer. The is the Silicon Valley, after all. The the museum should be a spot of light and energy for youth in the area. Instead, it is a sad and forlorn space. As an American, and especially now as the grandmother of a gifted 9yr old who loves science, I want things to change in this pivotal environment. An opportunity wasted it is, not only for my grandson but for all the children here in the SF Bay Area. Our youth and the future will be better served if there was a close examination of contract covering who has the authority over the museum and gift shot.
If you re going for a tour, dont go to visitors office, its not for you. Go to hangar on the right side of the parking. The tour is free and there is nice gift shop there.
Not fun at all! They do not allow public to visit at all, the guard’s attitude is bad and the visitor center was closed until January, nothing interesting outside, I do not know how other people get into this center previously, a very disappointed visit!
Awesome research facility. Ive toured it and years ago served as a research Guinea pig. They do great stuff here.
Received a remarkable tour through the NASA Ames Research Center! So much technology and the exploration of space at our fingertips! Super cool!
There used to be plenty of stuff, from walkable replica of the space station to moon rocks. Theres nothing left, just t-shirt and plastic toys :(
Was expecting quite a lot more, but the place looks quite dated and in need of renovation. However, that saying, it is free entry. If you are looking to pick up some NASA merchs and not really to experience anything much, this might be the place for you.The staff there are very friendly and helpful.
Various books of magick spells in gift shop. Specialize in thaumaturgy. Reasonably priced.
Okay, so THIS IS NOTHING LIKE JPL in Pasdena. I and my girlfriend where badly disapointed that there are no tours of facilities, the jarhead security gaurds are unfriendly. Overpriced giftshop with some cool patches, but other than that, not worth a visit! Only if your looking for a few souvenirs.
NASA is a very good agency that keep doind new reaserches every day
Not as exciting as expected. Its a tent with some exhibit made from cardboard, with a few dated equipments. Extra star goes to the guide staff. Only worth going if you are in mountain view for other business already and have an hour to kill.
It seems very impressive. It is my dream place.I only want to work here bcz all sites of its liked by me....
I want to work in your office for any work,, because cosmic my life adventure part and Im sure my questions are solve if I do your work
Interesting to visit if you like NASA, of course its nothing compare to the Houston Nasa tour.
While small, the exhibits were authentic. Good information on supercomputing and the Kepler mission. Free entrance was also nice.
A bit underwhelming for nasa standards thought it would be more exciting... It kinda leaves me with more questions than answers in a not good way, But again it was free; so cant complain too much.
Many people Dream to Work here just one word Its Awesome
Love the tour open to public. let u walk under the historic space building
Great Place. Great Work. Great People :)
I definitely want to visit and maybe WORK here if nescesary after i graduated.
It was a cool quick visit, parking nearby, restrooms inside, giftshop, moonrocks ?
Its alright. The center is really small and theres not much to see. I wish they would do more with it since it has so much potential.
This is the review of the little visitor center right in front of the air base. The admission is free and you get to see a lot of interesting stuff if you are into space travel and all that things. I talked to a nice old lady, she is volunteering here and explains everything to visitors. We had a nice conversation over about an hour. It was really amazing to get an inside peak of NASA. They have a small stage, where they show movies and also it was pretty cool to try the space shuttle simulator. There are also some model modules of the ISS here. You can walk inside and get a peak of what it looks llike up there.I really can recommend to go here and visit. Its nice, for free, kid friendly and plente of parking nearby. Also make sure you talk to one of the people there, they have amazing stories to tell and can give you more detailed information on all the exhibits.
Nice place to know about air crafts and space station
I dont think i got the full experiance but the small dome is really really really boring with very little to space and science. i guess i already know to much about space to actully be amazed by the facts. i should come back.
Really nice staff.
Very small exhibition, most impressive was a model of the space station...couldnt even get real space lunch food, just ice cream and fruits ;(
Small center not much to see. it is free parking and free entrance. souvenir store have alot item for sales
Its nice to work here and they have more parking nearby
On December 20, 1939, The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) founded NASA Ames (named after Joseph Sweetman Ames on December 20, 1939) Research Center as an aircraft research laboratory and in 1958; it became part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).Ames was originally founded to engage in wind-tunnel research on the aerodynamics of propeller-driven aircraft; however its role has developed to encompass spaceflight and information technology.Ames plays a critical role in many of todays NASA missions in support of Americas space and aeronautics programs and Moffett Field is one of 10 NASA field installations.Ames is a leader in information technology research with a focus on super computing, networking, intelligent systems, and conducts the critical research and development that make NASA missions possible. It leads in nanotechnology, fundamental space biology, biotechnology, aerospace and thermal protection systems, and human factors research.Their research in astrobiology focuses on the effects of gravity on living things, and the nature and distribution of stars, planets and life in the universe. In addition, Ames works collaboratively with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), conducting research in air traffic management to make safer, cheaper and more efficient air travel a reality.Ames engages in information and education outreach, forms collaborative partnerships, and fosters commercial application of NASA technologies. Ames is developing the NASA Research Park, an integrated, dynamic research and education community created to cultivate diverse partnerships with academia, industry and non-profit organizations in support of NASAs mission.Ames operates one of the worlds fastest supercomputers, Pleiades, which will be further enhanced and is scheduled to reach 10 petaflops of processing power by 2012.Although Ames is a NASA Research Center, and not a flight center, it has nevertheless been closely involved in a number of astronomy and space missions. From 1965 to 1978, the Pioneer space programs eight successful space missions were managed by Charles Hall at Ames, initially aimed at the inner solar system. In 1972, Ames supported the bold flyby missions to Jupiter and Saturn with Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11. Those two missions were trail blazers (radiation environment, new moons, gravity-assist flybys) for the planners of the more complex Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 missions, launched five years later. In 1978, the end of the program saw a return to the inner solar system, with the Pioneer Venus Orbiter and Multiprobe, this time using orbital insertion rather than flyby missions. On September 28, 2005, both Google and Ames Research Center went into a long-term research partnership. The Planetary Content Project seeks to integrate and improve the data that Google uses for its Google Moon and Google Mars projects. Our visit:So my son was doing a school project on space and one of the requirements was to visit the NASAs Ames Research Center in Moffett Field to obtain further information on space exploration.Moffett Field used to be a thriving military base but thanks our governments 1991 reorganization which included base closures, NAS Moffett Field was closed! The gift shop was set up in such a way that it looked like you were walking into another museum, at least, thats my thought. The gift shop had planes hanging from the ceiling with maps and paintings on the wall and other items that was fun to look and a lot of material relating to the space program.Overall, it was a good place to tour NASAs space program but theres not much else to do on this base.Construction of the new Google project which is near Googles Googleplex headquarters began in 2013 and has a target opening date of 2015.Its called Bay View as it overlooks San Francisco Bay (Review pending!).
Lots of neat stuff.
Well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
Fascinating museum where you can see parts of the ISS, a moon rock and the guides are former employees of NASA.
Its simply a gift shop
The research center is one of the best places to visit, especially if you are a space enthusiast.
When arriving the visitors place seems small, but its awesome. At first time there we got luck to have a tour with Margareth, one of the docents. She is amazing, knows lots of information and great facts. Best visit ever!Remember to spend some time at the gift store, cool stuff and the money goes to Nasa researchs.
A remarkable facility as the NASA Ames Research Center offer insightful innovations to reflect upon. On our visit back in February Dad and I witnessed the Blue - G mirror film and we simply could not stop beaming about this NEW technology application. Developed independently by Google entrepreneurs Blue-G is best described as an index refraction character index system. Its based on the notion that letters have an order that fall upon the eye and that the hue of characters offer rank. Blue-G was glued on two mirrored pillars, the first one in Bosnia and the second in the Czech Republic by Military Intelligence (MI) - Cyber Lieutenants from Germany and Italy who only spoke their native language, Lieutenant Reich Spiegel and Lieutenant Ricco Specchio respectively. The film consisted of a beryllium gel (atomic number 4) that reacted as such to become what the Lieutenants saw as wingtips of an Bugle Angel Bel, an logarithmic unit of sound intensity equal to 10 decibels. Incredible as Blue-G acted as a lube to their sight which in turn allowed their eyes to bulge & hear! The secret to this Military Intelligence comes from the transfer of the mirror itself as two key particles go in, ići the Bos and Jít the one who checks his work. Take for example the Google logo brand itself, its a multi color cam assembly in which the double oo elements are red - yellow. And both letter, G & g are blue mirrored of each other. It was there between the oo a gap that when parted revealed the [go word ogledalo] to the Lieutenants, in other [words - google ミラdalo] or mirror could.Could this be true? A mirror that looks at itself, a mirror of Information Technology that reveals a True Image. I myself saw the e.fects of Blue-G and for me the experience was like that of novel experience of X-Ray glasses where when I looked into the mirror seven of my upper ribs on each side of my chest were visible and the five ribs underneath bot sets of seven were not. Top to it all off each of those true ribs were exactly 1,852 meters apart, a (MI) unit of length used in navigation based on the distance spanned by one minute of arc in latitude. Blue G (TM) is a miracle that is gel Patent Pending and is now introduced to the World Wide Web as a (MI) EL LEU bug from our mirror station in Chesterfield Missouri. Mark your calendar for February 4th-7th, I hope that you will like what you see Virtual Reality enriched.
If youre interested in science in mountain view, NASA is probably worth checking out. Not a ton of access for the general public, but what they have is interesting...
They sell freeze dried space ice cream. Dont bother, nothing to see here, move along.
Small and boring exhibition, almost all interactive parts are broken. The models are very primitive. No access to the research center itself, e.g. the hangar will be far away from your eyes
I love NASA and Space 🗺🚀🛰📺
I brought people here because some reviews said we could visit the center, but the security guard said we couldn’t. The only thing we could visit was just the rundown gift shop outside of the gate.
Great to see some real Nasa gear.
Boi y dont u guys just use a plane to fly to the moon, like dude.
Would happily pay to see something more impressive. Was very dated and small.
Small place, but educational and inspiring!
NOT GOOD. BUT VERY GOOD, YES.
The place looks outdated. I was hoping to see more current information and a look into the future
@the new way to Galaxy best wishes to ☆MMXVI☆
World good service nasa
This is a very nice and aducational place
Open House event was awesome!
Is this a real research center or just visitor center...?? 🤔
Just want to visit nasa
I got to work there for a lil while. I think they wanted to see if I was an ass or not.
Excited about working here.
Special place :) nice for a visit
LOVE IT! One of the best places in the world!
No museum currently- just a gift shop.
I thought NASA should build something big....
Such a shame that the tour is a shadow of its former self. As is NASA, I guess.
Bad security service and disrespectful police man
Very interesting place.
The public visitors center was really disappointing. Really outdated nd no real organization inside. Just a number of random exhibits. Took us 20 minutes max to go through.
It is very important for students
