A really awesome place for metaphysical and New Age supplies. The staff is really helpful and friendly. Ive been here a few times, and enjoyed my visit every time.

Looking for a spiritual “book” store with jewelry, clothes, healing tools, instruments, and more… This is it! I absolutely love this shops and the people working there are lovely. Visiting is always a delightful experience and over the years I have purchased many items that have tremendously improved my life - Tigers Eye and White Jade Mala bead necklaces, beautiful earrings, clothes, scarves, candles, chimes, etc… they really have so much to offer. I usually visit this shop first anytime I’m look for a unique gift for a friend or family member. I was just there yesterday and found the most amazing Ayurvedic cookbook, 100% Cotton Mexican blanket, and a great neck and back massage tool. If you can’t tell already, I highly recommend this shop. Also, supporting our local small businesses is huge right now (& always)! I travel from Walnut Creek just to go to this shop. So if you’re in the area you should check it out!

This is the most eclectic store!! You walk in the door and Immediately feel tranquil and peaceful. you hear the waterfall in the back the beautiful peaceful music and all the objects that are so delicate and so beautiful. All the books that are about Self Help and peace and tranquillity and so many lovely scarves, handbags, candles and jewellery. Its one of the most unique stores Ive ever been to! and Ive been around the world and even around the country. I just hope this store always stays in business and never closes. I spent 2 hours in this store I love it!

This is my go to metaphysical shop, and I often come here for the peace and beauty that can be found here. The crystal museam is stunning and I come here just to bask in the energy. Of course I never leave empty handed either! Recently Ive gotten into tarot cards and Ive noticed theyve really stepped up their tarot and oracle card game here, with lots of diverse decks, which I really appreciate. I love how open and bright the shop is too. Ive never had to wait to get in during the pandemic and there is plenty of room to browse. In addition to mystical and magical things, they have amazing gifts here too. East West is a gem and Im so grateful to have it close to me on the peninsula!

Lovely bookstore, great selection of books (obviously) journals, candles, awesome gifts. I found a perfect hat recently to protect against the blazing hot sun.

This is a great place to be if you need your chakras aligned or you want to trade money for voodoo. But its just a novelty store for me. They do have some nice crystal specimens, but the prices are unreasonable. They must think these stones are magical.

Very nice mystical magical shop. Beautiful serene fountain inside with the ascetic Parahanmsa Yogananda statue where if you close your eyes and try to medidate you will be transported to another world. The ambience of this shop is awesome. You will find here all kinds of spiritual books, statues, incenses, Budhha and other Indian gods and godesses statues. Please make it a point to visit this store. It is just not a visit but a different experience

Easily agree with anybody else that says you can spend several hours here! And I don’t mean shamelessly reading books before you pay for them, but simply being in awe of the most beautiful natural things here! The stones and geodes they have here are breathtaking and the items from the far east like the high-pitched Buddhist meditation bowls are very grounding and an experience you have to try to believe. But the staff is so kind and friendly, might as well be old friends! I look forward to coming to some of their community events in the new year!

Usually early evening is the time to catch a great presentation or even musical performers.You can make an evening out of your visit. Castro Street is overflowing with quite the diverse selection of restaurants. Warm weather, friendly people, overall a very relaxing atmosphere.Check it out. Cal Train will even get you there. Walk west from the Castro Station. You cant miss it.

What an awesome experience! This store has some amazing treasures and beautiful gifts. You can spend hours in there: browsing around, trying their sound healing bowls, finding inspiring reads, meditating by the fountain or looking up specific speakers and sessions.

East West is more than a bookshop. They carry such a large variety of other things such as incense, crystals, and jewelry that it creates a soothing yet curiously exciting experience every time I visit this shop. If you or someone you care about are pursuing a path of self enlightenment, awareness, religion, or existential peace, I would recommend this shop. Even just a walk around will provide you with relaxation with its soothing music and welcoming ambiance. I havent been here in a few year and, while Ive been to places that offer something similar, this places tops them all.

A favorite place to kick back and browse alternative religious books and items. Love the fountain which is too serene to be tense in this place. They are very community oriented as they have seminars and workshops listed on their calendar. Very nice book shop, the best I seen or been in of its kind.

Great little bookstore/one stop shop for all things related to eastern and western spirituality and located in the middle of mountain views downtown. it has anything and everything related to spirituality, consciousness, religion, and the self such as gems/crystals, tarot cards, incense, clothes, greeting cards, and art. and of course with bookstore in its name it has books across all spiritual belief systems (arranged by topic) and from a wide range of eastern authors. definitely recommend checking this place out even if youre not interested in eastern philosophy because theres something cool youll discover here! and the employees are definitely helpful and kind.

For those who are truly interested in cultures, religions, philosophies, beliefs, and rituals from around the world- but are not interested in getting converted rhetoric shoved down your throat- this is your place! A very peaceful, most interesting, non-judgmental place ever.

I love! I love! this bookstore... every time I come in here I feel like a kid in a candy store. They have a great selection of urban art books which I cant get enough of.. they even have a cat to keep you company. Its just a really cozy feeling being in there!

East West is fantastic for what they do, which includes their focus on bringing Eastern-influenced New Age and alternative spirituality to the West. Their range for Western spirituality is comparatively limited, but still much better than regular bookstores, or any nearby options I know of. The place is big, clean, well-lit, and peaceful to visit, especially if you take a moment to sit by the fountain and meditate a while.

Kinda thought this would be warmer and more welcoming, not so very commercial. Smell of incense was so strong we had to leave. Very nice display of huge quartz specimens and spheres.

I purchased a plain long sleeve t-shirt with a Japanese symbol on front and it was $48.00 My wife purchased a purse for $69.00They have all sorts of one on one sessions for $100 + some Budda teaching, Yoga, stuff like that.*A great place to pick up an unusual item for one of your more enlightened friends, but Ill stick with Amazon.

Really love this shop. They have such amazing spirituality items, classes, lectures, individual readings, art work and some amazing crystal formations. They have added a new area specifically for more high end mineral deposits. Its beyond my price range but not beyond my range of appreciation. Definitely check it out, even if you arent a spiritual person, it may change your mind.

Unfortunately, just experienced the worst customer service ever. The woman behind the counter, an older Caucasian female with blonde hair, was very dismissive and showed utterly no desire to provide any assistance.I was within earshot and observed my wife waiting patiently and seeing if this workers attitude would change. After noticing that the employees attitude was becoming more condescending, I told my wife that we will spend our monies elsewhere.Albeit, we are novices in the crystal scene, but I dont think its asking too much for some general information.Heres some advice to you, the disgruntled employee, practice some Aloha. Maybe you were having a bad day, but that is no excuse for your total lack of respect you showed us today.

This is the place you must visit while strolling on Castro Street. It has a very spiritual appeal to it. Wonderful books on the book store, a peaceful place to read with a peace water fountain, lots of good stuff like herbal oils, stress relieving perfumes, cotton clothes, organic soaps etc. Very nice place to spend time looking around and shopping too. My wife and I come here from time to time, it really is a joy and Im pleased that it has remained here at least for the timing being (Id heard that it had gone up for sale and changed ownership a few years back). Recently the selection of things in the store has become more sparse, not sure whats going on there?? In any case, I have some great treasures from this store, my singing bowl, my meditation benches, and more. But what I enjoy the most is coming to the fountain in the center where Yogananadajis picture is perched, sitting there listening to the water and meditating or praying for a time. It is peaceful here.

An inspiring place. I am a book person, but dont necessarily come for the books. There is always something interesting we pick up. A CD, some bells for the kids or a quote from something on the wall.

Ill be honest and say that the subject matter of this shop just doesnt do it for me but it has been in Mountain View longer than I have and is well maintained. They have a variety of new age and spiritual book offerings along with trinkets, crystals, and more. Its definitely worth taking a look around if your downtown in Mountain View and perusing the shops.

Also an amazing place to get beautiful gifts (so its not only a bookstore) You can get one-of-a-kind gifts like dreamcatchers and more conventional gifts like jewellery with semi-precious stones. East West also has an amazing events room with events going on every week (this is all online now because of Covid) -- I have been to events by authors, musicians and more here. There are several headline acts every year as well. I attended an online event with Deepak Chopra recently which was wonderful! This is one of my favorite places here in the Bay Area. Highly recommend!

This place has a wonderful mystic vibe. And the collection of books here is fantastic!

As with too many booksellers, the bookshelves have been getting further apart while the knickknack displays get larger these last few years. But East West still has good selections of religious and new age occult books and an exceptional collection for Eastern religions, especially Buddhism. And the shrinking bookshelves have made room for an unparalleled collection of oracles, Lenormands and Tarots, many with demos on display. If you are looking for anything religious, spiritual or occult (the new age version) this is the place. And the fountain in the reading area in the back is wonderful.
