Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service was recommended numerous times by family members. Today, I finally made the switch from dealership automotive service to Foreign Car Service.I am impressed with the level of transparency and interaction which the team expressed on this April 9, 2021. Bob greeted me as the doors opened at 0730 PDT. Being the first customer on site, I took the opportunity to inquire about my upcoming service and Bob patiently answered all my questions. While waiting for the service to complete, Bob dropped by a couple of times to provide status updates. He went out of his way to explain the different types of oil, climate and other conditions to consider. The service was completed in less than an hour, and I felt assured that quality work was performed. This is my key requirement. I am looking for a mechanic and service shop which is trustworthy and transparent. Their garage is spotless and so bright that Im sure the mechanics have no trouble seeing anything theyd need to see.I brought in a Hyundai which randomly wouldnt start at times (no sound, just nothing), they diagnosed and repaired it efficiently.They may charge slightly higher but the experience was too notch, I would not hesitate to recommend them for anyone who values peace of mind more than a few bucks.

They dont suggest unnecessary work, and stay within their estimates. Weve never had anything go wrong with their service and they are easy to work with. And, weve save a lot of money compared to what the dealership charges. Top marks!

We started taking our Mazda here because its the only local shop that lists Mazdas on their site. The staff was very good and they broke down costs very transparently. Having new cars worked on is expensive, so its nice to know you are dealing with honest folks.

I recently brought in my car after reading the great reviews that other customers had posted in regard to the work theyve had done at Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service. As my car is just hitting the 150K mile mark, things do go wrong from time to time, and I was looking for a shop I could trust to keep the car running for as long as possible as I dont want to get rid of it if I dont have to (I love the car, even with its quirks). Matt and Tom were personable, professional, and very honest up front about the cost of the work and what they could do to help me (The driver seat frame in my G35 coupe had cracked and needed replacement). I cant stress enough how excellent the customer service and communication was. At most other shops Ive found a need to call to follow up because of a lack of communication, but I was pleasantly surprised that Tom and Matt would call me with updates, and if they told me theyd call me back on a certain day, they would. They definitely under promised and over delivered on the turnaround time for the car, which I was really happy about. In all, the car was back with me two days after I dropped it off. Tom and Matt took the time to show me the part that was replaced when I picked it up while taking a final look and making sure the car was good to go. Service here is the full package. Though this was a costly repair, I felt good about trusting the car to them. Im extremely happy with the service this shop provided to me, and though its never fun when your car has a problem, Id look forward to bringing the car back in and having Tom, Matt and their skilled team take a look at my car for regular preventative maintenance or any issues that may arise in future. Ive had our 2 beater cars serviced by Matt and Tom for nearly 10 years now and its high time to give them a rating! I am not going to list all the times that theyve helped us out in ways quite beyond what could be expected of the most helpful mechanics - thats between us and them - but want to put on record that they have never been anything but 100% reliable, on time and super friendly.If great service and a good relationship with your mechanic is a priority then youd have to look very hard indeed for a better place.

If you want detailed diagnostics and quality service, this is a place where to go. They took a deep dive in an issue that another workshop considered as safe without really diagnosing it. However, the problem became more apparent and without Foreign Car Service the car would likely break down in the middle of a road trip that the other shop knew we are planning to take.

I have been so impressed with Sunnyvale Foreign Car Service for the past four years that theyve serviced my Subaru. Not only are they honest, professional, and great at what they do, but they are positive, friendly, good people and every visit is a pleasant experience. When I was selling my car and had a couple minor things I needed help with, they gladly helped me with a smile when I walked in on two separate occasions, and didnt charge me a dime. Great mechanic, great people.

Friendly and professional service. Family business for 60 years. The mechanic I chatted with said hes with them for more than 20 years now and was visibly happy to work there - thats impressive. I was also impressed by the attention my otherwise unimpressive Camry got - I had the feeling the car was in the hands of caring auto doctors and not some salesmen.

Their work is good but their prices are not. I was charged $600 for a window regulator replacement, something that should take a skilled mechanic less than an hour and a part that costs about $150 (or less). I know this because I replaced another one myself in just about an hour with no prior experience. Was also quoted over $1200 to install a suspension kit (labor only, parts were provided by me), which I ended up having done at another shop for less than half of that. If youve got the money they will take good care of your car but you can get the same work done elsewhere for less

Very friendly, provided me with lots of helpful information. I came in for a tune-up, and they inspected the tires and alerted me to a potential problem. No hard-selling or anything like that, just Oh by the way your tires are wearing down off-center, you should go check the warranty on them. They were interested in keeping my car running perfectly, not in making a buck. Ive been several times and they always put in extra effort.

Great service ! Very nice staff.I have been helped really well with my Mazda today.I had a simple (i thought) problem: a nail in the tire. The team at SFCS explained me how patching a tire works, when it is possible and when not. (depending on the position of the nail)The team gave me a ride back to downtown Mountain View which was really convenient.I will definitely go back to this place, as it feels trustworthy and very professional.

Friendly and efficient service. Everything went smoothly, from making the phone call to set up an appointment to bring my car in for service, to bringing my car in and picking it up later in the day. The staff communicated clearly about what needed to be done in the vehicle, gave an accurate estimate and performed the service in a timely manner.

These guys are awesome. I unfortunately had to do a very expensive repair, which is always painful, but Matthew explained everything to us in a way we could understand, and was very communicative during the whole process. The car works great now. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Id been to multiple places to get a similar repair done on my Audi A4. From dealership to the boutique Audi shops. This was, by far, the best experience. Matthew is a great guy and doesnt try to upsell anything. The quote he gave me for the repair was $1000 less than the other places.

They offer a personal, friendly service, and are very efficient even when they have a lot of work to do on my car. They have kept really detail notes about my car since I started coming in a year and a half ago, and always take the time to explain exactly what they are doing, and recap when I come to pick up my car. They always do a great job, and they explain whats going on with your car in great detail. You can tell they love their jobs, and Ive never had to have anything redone after they worked on it in the several years that Ive been exclusively bringing my car here.

I had a 2001 Audi A4 that I had brought in a few times for servicing. It was not the cheapest rates in town, but I felt like they were very personable and honest with what was wrong. At a certain point I was looking at several thousand dollars of repairs (engine mounts, CV boots, brakes, etc.) and Tom told me up front that it probably wasnt worth the expense to repair the car but Id be better off getting a new one. He did the minimal service (~$100) to get me back on the road for a few months while I could start looking for a new vehicle.

I trust them completely, and thats the most important part. Matt and Tom have cared for both my beloved yet dysfunctional BMWs for several years now, and their team always correctly diagnoses problems, offers prompt solutions, and treats me and my car with respect. They give me advice in clear terms, like this needs to be done now and this should be done in a few months, but never try to sell me something I dont need or want. They take the time to explain their work upfront so I completely understand what they intend to do. They also communicate well during the repair process. Their pricing is reasonable and Ive never had any repair failures. Because its a local family shop, theyll remember who you are and give a damn about your car. I like that. You will too!

Excellent service and advice. Brought a car in for a smog issue, they recommended a reasonable fix to try first, which cleared the problem. Not only did they fix it but they took the car to the local test station for the retest. First class!

I called for an estimate just for an oil change, they quoted and scheduled me I show up and wasnt there five minutes before the guy tried to more than double how much money I was already set to spend. No thanks they wanted 98 bucks for a visual inspection. Lol so you want 100 dollars to look at stuff. No. Then they just hop in my car and drive away. No warning, no reason why before they do so. I have to go ask where is my car going? They say its standard procedure to drive the car before changing the oil. Ive been driving it two hours already and I didnt authorize that, I couldnt they never even asked. So I went to Jiffy lube where they not only gave me the service I wanted but they rushed to get it done, vacuumed it out, topped off all fluids and tire pressure and didnt try to sell me anything extra... I was so happy with my service I bought their lunch at Jiffy Lube.

Outstanding Repair Shop - the team at SFCS does phenomenal work repairing cars. They have worked in the last month on my BMW, Honda and Nissan vehicles, providing the correct diagnosis and offering a range of options as to whether something needed to repaired or could wait. One of the big issues for me is trustworthiness and the guys have it.

These guys are just great. Super friendly and helpful, and really responsive. I took my car in to get four new tires mounted that I had ordered online and had delivered to the shop. Through a mix-up, Id been sent the wrong set of tires. Matt and Tom helped me get the tires returned to the retailer, and get a new set mounted. Thanks guys!

Very happy with my experience here in two visits, 2015 and 2017.

SFCS is a great shop. They are not always the cheapest way to get a job done (although sometimes they are!), but they are good, they are fast, and above all they are HONEST!To be more specific, theyve been super helpful on every car Ive brought to them: a Mini Cooper, an Acura CL, an Acura RL, and a Nissan LEAF. I almost always buy cars used, and they give a great pre-purchase inspection.They are willing to work with your style of maintenance. Sometimes I want to do the minimum to get me back on the road, and sometimes I want to keep the car in mint condition, depending on where it is in its life, and they are happy either way. Just today they pushed me towards not fixing something, because it was minor, would have been expensive to fix, and wasnt really affecting anything.Take your car to SFCS. You wont regret it.
