I brought my 944 into this shop hearing it was the best Porsche shop in the Bay Area. My car sat in their shop for 9 months. Not only was the communication very poor (I always had to reach out and call) they actually broke my windshield (refused to admit it was them) and could never figure out what was wrong with the car. The car was able to start and run before bringing it in but after they began to make repairs the car failed to start on its own. They never fixed their mistake and charged my thousands for the service. Worst experience and terrible to deal with. I do not recommend.

I was gifted a non-running Porsche 944 and without any previous automotive knowledge I decided to dive in and see if I could get it back on the road. I first visited Modderman in 2015 after my 2001 996 developed an odd intermittent squeaking sound. I had already taken my car to a local dealer and two independent shops where I paid a lot of money for them to replace parts that werent broken. At my wits end, a friend recommended I try Modderman. Dave made it his personal mission to get to the bottom of my issue. A week later, he had solved my issue and I was shocked to learn that his total bill was less than Id paid any of the other shops who failed to fix the problem. Modderman changed the timing belt on our 944, replaced the clutch hydraulic slave cylinder and as a bonus solved an issue with the complex sunroof that didnt want to latch. Dave showed me the removed parts and made sure I was happy with the work performed. The car has been great to drive since then. I plan to bring in my 911 next- very happy to have such an experienced and helpful shop team in the bay area.

Dave and his team at Modderman fixed a very tricky Check Engine light problem on my 98 993 that multiple shops (including a dealer) in the Bay Area couldnt resolve. One Porsche shop wouldnt even take on the problem - too difficult to solve. Off and on I spent two years having shops take a stab at resolving the problem. When they couldnt accurately troubleshoot the problem the proposal was to start replacing expensive parts in the hopes of permanently clearing the problematic load sensing code. Just costly guesswork. I finally found Modderman through their excellent Google reviews. They nailed the problem and fixed it in an efficient and inexpensive way! I couldnt be happier with my experience with Dave and Modderman Services. If youve got a tricky issue with an older Porsche I highly recommend Modderman. They truly know what theyre doing!

Every time I have taken my 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo to Moddermans it comes back in tip-top condition, running like new. Dave and the guys did an engine swap last year and did a great job. I own a 89 944 NA with 150K miles on it and when it came time to replace the clutch I knew I could trust Dave and his crew. They previously replaced the water pump and timing belt and had me back on the road in no time. In the 3 years I have been in the Bay Area they have always taken great care of my car. Dave and staff performed an extensive and complicated air-conditioning retro-fit on my 82 911. I was very impressed with the professional and courteous treatment from start to finish. Its obvious that Dave cares not only that the job is done well but also that the customer is treated well. Im an airline employee and customer service is frequently lacking in my world. It was nice to deal with someone who is kinda old school and gets it with regard to kindness toward people he comes into contact with. Good Job! The new A/C is fantastic..first time that little beauty has seen really cold air!

Im glad I learned about Modderman Service when we bought our used Boxster. Dave and his staff really know Porsches and do expert work at reasonable prices. Our Boxster has been very reliable but when it needs service we take it to Modderman.

Ive taken my 2005 997 to Moddermanns shop ever since the factory warranty expired. They always diagnosed problems (e.g. water pump, wheel bearings, exhaust) right the first time, and fixed them at a fair price.
