Went to have 4 valve stems replaced. Price $110.00. Only replaced one. How does that work? Didnt want to talk about it, the kid made a mistake. Must be he couldnt read or was trying to put one over on me. Dont care which but when you do have something done make sure you inspect the. Work and the old parts they removed with the new part boxes.

I had some issues going on with my check engine light and after going to a larger dealership with no resolution, I came across a mailer from Monticello Auto Service that advertised a check engine light diagnostics etc.Making the appt was super easy. I just put in the website what dates and times I preferred and within minutes got an email confirmation.The only challenge was trying to find where they were located so maybe larger signage would be helpful- but I figured the witty oil change sign out front of a church was pointing in the right direction.The staff was courteous and attentive with my energetic 4 year old. They had toys and Netflix to occupy kids. A complimentary coffee area and vending machines. They got the part in faster than expected and I didn’t pay an arm and a leg for the work.I am very satisfied and will definitely refer friends and family members to this business.

My car sat for several months over the winter, so it needed a new battery and an overall double check to make sure everything else was working. When I took it in the guys who helped me were all super friendly, very chill and never once spoke to me like I didnt know what I was talking about (I dont!). They made me feel very comfortable from the first moment. They didnt try to upsell me or give me any pitches for things I wouldnt need. The repairs were done very quickly the next day, I had dropped my car off the previous evening (even asked if I would need a ride home!), and they called to talk me through everything in advance. When I went to pick up my car he ran through most of it again and made sure I had no questions. Scott even texted me the day after to make sure everything was going well and I hadnt had any issues!! Its been rare for me to find a mechanic who makes me feel like they care about me and not just business, who also doesnt take advantage of me because Im a female - and very obviously know only the basics about cars. 10/10 will definitely recommend this shop to anyone I know!!

These guys are the best, period! They can get you in right away, they are very professional, I feel very comfortable having my wife bring her car there because they will not try to up sell her on anything we don’t need and they will check back with you to make sure everything is good with your vehicle, who does that? Well to be the best it starts with customer service.

I went in to have my car looked at due to a burning smell and they did a free 15 minute inspection (it ended up being longer than 15 minutes - still free) to figure out the problem. We scheduled a time to have it fixed and it ended up being a different problem, thankfully a cheaper problem. They are good at communicating by text or email!

We just moved here and it can be very hard finding a new, reliable and honest auto shop. These guys are extremely kind and take the time to explain and SHOW you what needs to get done on our car. The auto shop is CLEAN and has a friendly seating area too. All around, wonderful experience.

We recently visited this shop after attempting to replace parts on an engine job. I should note that were a mechanically savvy family, but this particular job proved to be a little challenging. When dropping off our car, we were told by the technician that they wouldnt replace new parts we installed. However, when picking up the car we found out that all the parts we had installed were taken out and replaced with their parts. The cost of the shops parts were four times the price of the quality parts we purchased (same parts; $120 for us, $417 for them). They also replaced a plastic cover which cost an additional $377 ($115 for the part) Apparently, they had to purchase a special tool to work on our car which we highly suspect was charged back to us in reviewing our excessively large bill. The car runs fine, and it appears they did a good job. The problem we have with this shop is their unwillingness to work with us in not replacing parts that were new and didnt need to be replaced and excessively charging us overall. Save yourself some money and go somewhere else!From owner: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. I can understand that this was a frustrating situation all around. We were definitely aware that you had purchased some parts and installed those parts before coming to us. We were also hoping that we wouldn’t have to change those out, but as we discussed with you before doing the work, with issues that are going to compromise the safety of the vehicle or the longevity of the engine, we have an obligation to do the repairs well. Unfortunately the quality parts that your car needed were more expensive than the budget ones you originally found on the internet. We do hope that you’ll come back to us, and please remember that if there are any issues with the quality work or parts that we installed, they are covered with a fantastic 3 year/ 36k mile warranty that we stand behind.Our response: We rarely leave negative reviews but this has been an exception. Your technician never talked about a warranty or the need to replace the parts we installed which were quality parts. There was no discussion with your shop or an opportunity to weigh in on the replacement process before it happened. Instead your shop took the liberty to replace everything and gouge us!! No, we wont be coming back and encourage others to reconsider this shop!!

Scott was great, he pointed out a knocking sound I had and did a diagnostic for me! He also explained what the code possibly meant,(as some codes can be from not just one issue) and told me he could resolve it.

Great experience at the shop. They were helpful when there. They called me when they found a couple more issues wrong with my truck, explained the repairs clearly, and even offered to come pick me up so they could show me what their talking about. Work was done in time frame.A couple days after picking up truck, I received a text from Scott ( Service Manager) checking in making sure everything is satisfactory. I recommend them after 1 experience.

I brought in my car to have my exhaust replaced and was quoted $200 less than another Auto service in town. I was quite pleased! When I picked up my car the next day, the total was still what I was quoted! My 3 year old son, who loves cars, was also shown around and given a little car of his own! Had a RV with break problems. They took the RV and noticed a rusted line, the replaced what was needed and charged a fair price. Finding a good mechanic is a difficult problem I certainly found a positive experience here at Monticello auto service. Thanks for all.

I called around town to get a set of loose wheels and tires mounted and balanced. Monticello Auto Service was by far the cheapest. The work was done quick on a Friday afternoon. The shop is clean, and all the staff I dealt with were nice people. Ryan was great to talk to, and really seems to know his stuff.I usually turn my own wrenches, but if I dont feel like dealing with it or dont have the time, Monticello Auto Service has my business.

Vehicle broke down unexpectedly. With the proximity and high reviews, this was the place to call. After good instructions on what to do, I was told I would be contacted once someone took a look at it. That was on a Thursday.Friday came and went. Called Friday evening and asked about an update as I work full time and needed to iron out if I needed to rent something, get a new car entirely, etc. Was told someone had just started to take a look at it and that I would get a call with an update.Saturday and Sunday came and went. Found out they arent open on the weekends which is fine, even a message on my phone Friday night saying were still ironing out what to do would have been nice, or an eta on a diagnosis.Contacted Monday and was told it was time for a new engine.Last little thing, GPS to get you to the place is not good. Youll be taken to an electrical place every time across the street where a road leading to where you need to go has been blocked off.These are knowledable friendly people who genuinely want to help you make informed decisions regarding your options; parts and replacement with a warranty, without one, what they suggest based on experience, etc.Overall experience was a good one.

After getting screwed over by the Cornerstone dealership in town one too many times, I was very thankful to have found these guys! Great crew, great customer service, and great work. Don’t try to cheat you like (unfortunately) many other shops and dealerships seem to do and do reliable work. Highly recommend them to anyone needing a shop they can count on!

Absolutely fantastic place! Took my car in right away, they have done that a few times for me. Other places I would have to wait a day. They have plenty of loaners which is key for me and my family. Willing to help me get a loaner that was perfect for my daughter that needed to take her driving test the next day.

I brought my car in to get some work done on the lower ball joint. Everyone there was friendly and the work was done quickly. It was nice because I was actually able to get my vehicle in only an hour after calling to set up an appointment. Everything is back in normal working condition and I dont have to worry about my wheel falling off anymore . I recommend these guys for a fast, good repair, and a friendly experience.

I had a few misfires recently and one particular day my car had a lot of hesitation upon accelerating and was running rough, so I made an appointment to get it checked out. I also needed new tires before winter and they were able to provide me with a reasonable quote. They spent a couple days trying to figure out why my car was acting up, but couldn’t diagnose it with a specific problem. Nothing major to fix at this time anyway. They explained a couple of things I could try and do myself at home and weren’t pushing me to have them do the maintenance work. I’m grateful for their honesty and excellent customer service.

My windshield fluid dispenser cracked during the polar vortex. I was able to get in right away, was provided with a free loaner and was back in my own car the next morning. Efficient and courteous service. Special thanks to Scott who went out of his way to fetch the part on an already challenging drive to work. I will be taking my vehicle back as needed.

Nice and friendly staff, great prices and didn’t try to up sell on work that didn’t need to be done. Showed me a few problems with my car and addressed how urgent the problem was (or was not). I believe these problems were accurately diagnosed because they are problems that had previously been brought to my attention by my boyfriend who used to fix cars at a dealership. I would trust them with all future care repairs and highly recommend them!

While driving back to ND on Christmas day my car lost power and was stalled on the Interstate just a few miles from Monticello MN. I had the vehicle towed to the parking lot of Monticello Auto Service. The next morning I called and explained to them what happened and that it was crucial the car be fixed asap as there was a winter storm arriving in ND and I needed to get home before it hit. I had car trouble on my trip home from North Dakota to Iowa. The people at Monticello Auto Service not only fixed a major issue quickly, they explained everything they were doing before they did it, talked to me about other issues that I needed to take care of, and got me back on the road fast. Their customer service is superior! I have three boys under the age of 8 and we had to wait an hour for repairs - they let us watch TV and were so kind! This place is amazing and I know if I have an issue again on my way home I’m coming here!!

I thought it was pretty cool that they brought me back into the shop and showed me what needed to be done. For example, a dirty filter needing to be replaced. Also, I didn’t have the usual feeling that comes with auto maintenance/repair when I paid. You know, the one that feels like you’ve been punched in the gut. I’ll be back.

I had my windshield replaced and it was starting to get cold out so they allowed me to park my vehicle overnight inside so it could get done the next day. The service is amazing and the follow up from the staff was unexpected but very refreshing to see that the service did not stop when I walked out the door. I will definitely be going back for more service and will reccomend them as well.

I like that the people here talk to you like a real person and not just a customer they are going to up-charge for unnecessary maintenance.I had/have a small oil leak and instead of giving me a doomsday scenario about why I NEED to perform major maintenance right away, these guys were honest and told me if I closely monitor it I can get it fixed when my schedule and finances allow.Other mech shops may try guilt and persuade customers to spend extra money on small issues that arent necessarily time sensitive. You wont have to worry about that at Monticello Auto Service. It seems like they know honesty leads to repeat business and word of mouth advertisement.I highly recommend this very personable shop and hope to see them succeed.

My family was traveling West for a wedding when we experienced a near catastrophe of our tire flying off our pick up truck while towing our 23 wakeboard boat. We had no idea where we could bring our truck to get fixed. My husband Google searched and found Monticello Auto Service. What an absolute Blessing to have found Monticello Auto Sevice!! Scott and everyone working there were amazing. They were able to get our truck fixed and have me and my family back on the road safely to finish our trip to our Alexandria MN family wedding.

Had a sensor fail along with a faulty alternator. These guys got everything fixed up in no time at all. Travis kept me informed through the entire process and let me know exactly what was being worked on. Will definitely bring my car here again if something goes wrong!

The guys here are super friendly and helpful, as well as provide quality service. They were more than happy to take us back into the shop and lift up our vehicle to directly explain and show us the various points of potential concern, helping us actually understand more about our vehichle, and allowing us to pick and choose what to work on now vs what to wait on. Theyve even a a system set up where theyll text you pictures of the various problems and give you updates on their progress. Theyre a bit on the pricey side, so use those coupons if youve got them, but these guys do some quality work.
