Zero stars. Their negligent repair work caused me to almost have my engine blow out on me TWICE. The Subaru dealership suggested I file a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repairs because the repairs to my engine were done so poorly. The owner Thuan refused to give me a refund for the $3k in repairs that he did, and the dealership is quoting me at 5k to do the job correctly. The owner offered to repair the car for the THIRD TIME at no cost, but at this point I cannot trust anyone at that shop to complete the work correctly. The first time he repaired my oil leak it started smoking on the freeway and I had to get it towed from Monterey to Sacramento for him to fix it. I am lucky my engine did not blow up because of these people. Then in March 2021 I took the car because I told him there was an oil leak, he claimed there werent any, so I got a second opinion from the dealership. Thank god I did, otherwise my car would be a ticking time bomb, leaking oil all over town.Im attaching photos that the dealership took of all the leaks they found that T& T claimed I didnt have. I am a single mom and rely on my car to get my daughter and I around. This shop is unscrupulous and now I am stuck without a car and costly repairs due to their shoddy work. I will have to go to small claims court because this guy thinks he can just take advantage of me, I would be crazy to trust him for the third time to repair my oil leak correctly. STAY FAR AWAY.*UPDATE- I gave the owner a THIRD chance in order to avoid taking the legal route since he supposedly guarantees his work for two years. I had the car towed (at my expense) on May 3 and asked Thuan to give me a summary of proposed repairs before starting work. It is now two weeks later, he has my car in his possession and wont return my messages.

The technicians were so helpful and literally dropped what they were doing to help us out so we could still make our travel schedule back home. I was a loyal customer to T and T auto until they made a mistake fixing my brakes it breaks. The next day my brakes failed resulting in an accident. T and T covered up cheek hovered up their mistake even though I told them not to touch my car until the adjuster got there. The accident went down as my fault

Very efficient and helpful smog testing facility. If you need to go to a Star certified tester this is the only place in the Monterey area as I understand. Many others but this is thr only Star.

I came late in the day for an oil change & smog I did not even have proper paperwork for smog . I had no appointment and they were extremely busy . The mechanic got me in quickly . They did a great job . My car runs better now. It cost under $100 for both . Very happy with my experience. I will return again to this shop . I highly recommend this shop

I needed my car to be checked before heading out on a long trip. The technician did a thorough job and cleaned up my breaks and replaced my front struts. There was a slight hiccup with the repair, I took the car back and it was promptly fixed. The owner may be a man of few words but the techs are friendly and the work is high quality. I would recommend this place to everyone. I wish I would have used them sooner as I will no longer be in the area. If you are looking for a no-nonsense shop that gets it done and does honest work then take your car to them. Big thanks to T&T Auto for a job well done and peace of mind.

Good prices, rotated my tires, changed filters, and changed oil for 70.00 I had similar confusion with communication, they didn’t call me when it was ready or answer their phone. When I walked back, my car was ready outside but it was difficult to get someone to help me check out. Close to my home so I will probably return.

My check engine turned on and I wanted to take it to TYT auto and the only thing they told me that they are busy without telling me anything else, they did not tell me you can make an appointment for this day or anything, the man just turned his back on me and was It was, my recommendation for TYT auto is that they look for a customer service staff if they are very busy.

To all the people complaining about Thuan being rude? Get over yourselves. Does he have the social graces of Carey Grant? No, he doesnt. I moved out of town and I still drive an hour to make sure he services my car. Thuan is a very honest mechanic with solid prices and if you value social finesse more than that, then you dont even value a good mechanic so please stop complaining.

Tried swinging by T&T for a smog check/tune up. Walking up to the garage I was asked by an employee what I needed and was told “No, too many already”, no follow up questions, no “hey come back later” or amplifying info. Luckily It lead me to a great spot in seaside w/ great customer service.

I only went there for a smog check there was a hispanic guy and a asian guy as soon as i walked in i told them i need a smog check and the asian guy ignored me and told the other guy to tell me that i need to wait I asked him directly how long was the wait and he just walked out to the office I waited for like ten minutes and he never came out the office so i just left

I needed help with misaligned headlights to minor faucet leak and only received 2 word response over the phone. Too Bad ... my money is as Green as the Next...

Lazy. Brought my car in for an inspection as it was obviously having some serious issues. Spent about all of 2 minutes under the hood and sent me on my way with a clean bill of health. Well turned out I was right and I bent a rod about 5 miles later. Now currently searching for a new engine. Do not go here.

I wasnt sure what was wrong, but I suspected my brakes or something needed replacing. It was my brakes and rotors. He got me in on Saturday at my request and he didnt have my car all day despite being very busy! He did great work and has very reasonable prices. He seems very reliable and I am just thrilled to have found a good mechanic. Im a happy girl.

Nasty! Disgusting! I have no idea why this place has high rating. Extremely rude. I was there for 10 minutes yelling hello hello. I didnt know where the office was but then I realized he is in the office and not responding! When I politely asked if he can do smog check for me he said he doesnt have time for me! There is NO ONE in his shop. Its very sad that people like him are in business. Take your business somewhere else and save your day from this nasty guy.UPDATE:I then went to Mikes Auto and got my smog done. Nice, super quick firendly and cheap.

Car broke down and had steam coming out of the hood, dropped it off right before close and in two days knew what was wrong and was originally quoted 1,100$ but final bill came out to around 800$. In its early years, T&T Auto Repair was the best around with a team of great mechanics who knew what they were doing and would spot issues before they became problems, saving money and time - which made Thuan’s lack of verbal communication skills (mutters; doesn’t explain the problem well; and rarely calling with updates) tolerable. More recently, the turn around of mechanics have been many and the service has suffered, which makes Thuan’s communication skills really maddening! Brought in the car for an arranged fix (a week in advance to order part), but on the date he had no clue about the part, left the car because he told me he would call…no call, not fix that day as the part arrived late in the day! For the occasional lube job or smog check, its an ok auto shop, but wouldn’t trust it for any major work!!

I came in to get my belts replaced and oil changed about 3 months ago. You guys had me in and out in less than an hour. I know you guys are constantly busy. I just wanted to come on here and thank you for the fantastic service. Cheers.

I made a phone call to T & T auto repair to make an appointment for a smog, brake, and lamp inspection, I was aware it took two hours to do all three inspections so he suggested I bring in car first thing 8am two days from our phone call as we both new the procedure was time consuming, I came in for appointment and told him I had appt. for Smog, brake, and lamp inspection, the glare and angered looked on his face just stopped me in my tracks, I was warned by a fellow coworker that his personality was rather harsh but through my eyes it was rather extreme, the mechanic told me he was only expecting a smog, and not a smog, brake, and lamp inspection as well. He was very disgruntle and really was bad about communication the problem or any solution, so I felt very uncomfortable and said forget it I will go elsewhere and I left with a truly bad experience. Maybe he is honest and a good mechanic from other reviews Ive read but the way he treats and communicates to his customers is extremely uncomfortable.

Tran tried to charge me $750 for a part that was not needed. Its been 6 mos and i had my car repaired for $110 by another repair shop. Also charged me $300 for general maintenance oul change etc. I found out he didnt even change the fuel filter!

It is the grace of the Almighty that I found this repair shop. My son had noticed that the engine area had made a loud noise. He thought that there was something wrong with the timing belt period throughout the cars 5-year history that Kia dealer had told me that the car does not routinely need to have the timing belt change. But of course they want somebody to do the whatever Thousand Miles check up. my son investigated and found that it didnt have a belt it had a chain. now we have been through repair places in King City Coalinga and Salinas with poor service. They tell nonsense stuff that me as a lay person no better. I was skeptical because my son find the shop on the internet. My son was impressed that he knew about Kia cars and he was straightforward. He was also glad that he had fix the tension on the serpentine belt. I had this belt replaced last year in King City because its squeaked. Rossi put a new belt on and when I complained its still squeak then they told me oh you probably need tensioner pulleys and who knows what else. Well T & T found the issue which was that the belt tension was too tight and no more squeaks. My son was so impressed with his level of professionalism, his integrity, and skill that he wants to go to Automotive school now. Two snaps up for TNT in Monterey.
