Wow, excellent service from phone call, AAA drop off, shuttle service, to vehicle repair!!!!My vehicle breakdown on vacation in Monterey. So blessed we broke down on Thursday because Rory and Beatrice were able to get me in same day, diagnose the problem, replace my alternator, belt and battery next day so I could resume my vacation.Blessed by the quick turnaround, above and beyond professional customer service and excellent mechanical repair. Not only did they take excellent care with my Mazda, they also went the extra step to show me exactly what was going wrong and explain how they were going to fix it. Incredibly professional and informative from the moment they answered the phone. I’ve never felt more taken care of in an auto shop. Beatrice was patient and took such care in answer Ming all my questions. No pressure sales or service. They let me leave me vehicle over the weekend to take time before I decided to get the work done needed on my 2004 Range Rover HSE. My only issue is there isn’t a Pacific Motor Service in every town.

My car suddenly had some serious trouble with the front brake that prevented me from driving. Being on a very tight budget and not having a regular mechanic I wanted to do research first. I also have a job that requires me to drive a LOT. So I was very anxious to get it fixed quickly and well while also finding somewhere that wouldnt overcharge. It didnt take long to find that Pacific Motor Service is recommended all over the place. I went in with all the knowledge I could and I totally made the right choice. The guy at the front desk was super helpful and nice! He explained each part of the problem to me so I could understand. He helped me really feel at ease that they know what theyre doing and they had my best interests in mind. It was also great to have someone who actually walked me through the problem and exactly what they needed to do and why the price was what it was. I did have to leave it overnight, understandably, but they still got in done in a very timely manner. It was a very positive experience. Will definitely go back in the future.

(especially Rory and Jim)I was having a short stay in Monterey on my road trip when I found there was somethings wrong with one of the tires.Rory and Jim ran a free inspection and inflated the tire for me. They are professional and kind.

I took my car to this shop after being quoted $8,200+tax at the Subaru dealership for a new transmission because the fluid had supposedly turned to “sludge” and would not drain from the transmission. However, I knew that wasn’t the case because my transmission had never given me and signs of failing (slippage, hard shifting, etc..). Upon starting the diagnosis at pacific motor service, they updated me immediately and told my the transmission fluid had not transformed into this so called “sludge” and was completely full and also that there was no need to replace the entire transmission. The issue was the valve body (the brain of the transmission), a much cheaper fix than the dealership quoted me. They ordered the parts and had my car fixed the next day.I’m not a local to the area and that’s why I went to the dealership first. But upon receiving the poor service and the lack of explanation at the dealer I highly recommend this shop over the Subaru department. Thanks for the amazing work guys!!

I was towed here by AAA. I couldn’t steer the car. My power steering fluid ran out because a rodent chewed through the line. The reception people were very friendly. They were able to fix the car the same day. HOWEVER they were way out of line in charging over $1000 for replacing the fluid and a new line!!! Typical charges are almost half of that!!!DO NOT RECOMMEND unless you have no time or choice like me.

I truly can’t say enough about Kyle and this time. From the start to the finish, their professionalism, expertise, and level of service were top notch. I was towed into their parking lot as they were closing one night. They let me keep my car there over night and worked with me throughout the repair process until I left feeling not only fully fixed up, but also like I (and my car Betty) were cared for. They did a great and fast job replacing my air conditioning compressor! Kyle was very professional, and communication was excellent with no surprises. I will be taking another vehicle in for brake work before I go home!

Pacific Motor Service was extremely polite and professional and I can trust that the work was done right the first time.If I were to nit-pick, the only issues were:-The representative pushed a little too hard to replace parts(spark plugs and ignition coils) that didnt need replacing because I would save money on labor.-Representative also made a valve cover gasket replacement seem more complicated than it should be for an experienced tech. I have a BMW but for any inline engine the steps are generally the same. Im confident that this repair was very doable for their auto tech.-This business will charge you for diagnostics even after they perform the repairs. Im used to that being free if you let the business perform the repairs.-I dont know what the labor rate is here and its not on the reciept. I can only assume around $200 and hour based on $941 to replace a valve gasket when the Chilton Auto Library manual states the job should take 4 to 4.5 hours. (941/4.5= 209).-They did give me a free brake light bulb so that was niceI am new to the area, I needed the job done quick and this is the first place I came to so I will be shopping around for my next repair. I think they will do anything you need them to perfectly fine, but for you more savy shoppers out there; maybe look somewhere else.

The front office staff is very friendly and communicate all details of the service thoroughly. They contacted me several times to explain the service and get approval before moving forward with any changes. Not the fastest oil change in town, but the best! They do a very thorough inspection, and often catch problems I havent noticed. Last time they noticed that the bulbs on my back licence plate were burned out. They did a good job of wiping down the surfaces of my vehicle that they touched. They recently put a bench outside so there was a place to sit and wait for work to be completed ( its 2020). I also like that their ideal location is near the beach, bike trail, good restaurants and the sports center. It is much easier to wait for the repair to be completed when there are so many nearby diversions.

When I pulled in a technician named Miles greeted me cordially, offered to help, asked me what I needed, then filled all four of my tires to the required pressure, then thanked me for stopping in!!NOW THAT’S CUSTOMER SERVICE AT IT’S BEST!!!

I went to pacific motor service with major anxiety after finding a few codes from my check engine light. I was thinking I would need a transmission rebuild, and a new catalytic converter.A few hours after dropping off my car, I got a call from Rory saying they wanted to change my transmission oil.So..... I have heard a lot of people tell me a transmission flush would do more damage than good and I was a bit concerned. I had so many questions for them and they took the time to answer all of them on the phone for 20+ minutes.After Rory answered all of my questions and explained the whole process, I gave them the okay to start the job. Once they dropped the transmission pan, they took photos of my transmission and the oil they took out. I even stopped by to check out my car and they let me look under it while they pointed out the problems it was having.They were so patient with me and I was able to gain a lot of trust in them (which is difficult to do with mechanics)They did the oil replacement and a few other things that needed some attention. Now my 20 year old truck is running like a dream. I will definitely be back and have decided to use them for all of my car troubles/ maintenance in the future. Thanks so much Pacific Motor Service!

They were absolutely amazing! Ive had a lot of bad car luck recently and they made everything effortless. They are also very friendly and helpful, especially Rory (the really tall guy with bright red hair and completely normal skin). I really appreciated everything they did to help me. The staff was all incredibly helpful, polite, and professional but the pricing is outrageous. Maybe it’s because it’s in the heart of Monterey but ended up paying $1500 less than what they originally quoted me. And I bought all the parts I needed from Autozone for half of what you would have paid there.

Have a 15 year old Infiniti that was in need of a tune up. The vehicle was bought used 2 years ago and I had no maintenance history on the car. Pacific Motor Service absolutely saved us! While driving from San Francisco to Big Sur on a vacation, we broke down in Carmel at 4pm on a Friday. Our tow truck driver let us know that all the shops in town were only open 9-5, Monday to Friday. We asked who hed suggest going to and he recommended Pacific Motor Service.We arrived just before closing, but the shop staff was still incredibly helpful. Kyle in the office helped us get checked in and explained everything that was going on very clearly. The owner, who was on his way out for the weekend, went back into the shop to personally inspect our car. They figured out what was wrong and scheduled us for service bright and early Monday morning.The owner then personally drove us to a car rental company nearby and waited with us until he was sure we were taken care of and had a car. Amazing service!On Monday, the shop was able to get the parts and finish the repairs all before noon so that we could make it back to San Francisco for a flight.Thanks, Pacific Motor Service!

I have taken my vehicle here since 2014. They care about you and take care of your vehicle! It is seamless and smooth. You are treated with respect. I don’t like taking my truck anyplace else!

Been taking my car there for about 9 years. Honest service. If my car ever needed multiple services, they are always able to tell me what I need now versus what could safely be done with my next regular service. And Ive overheard conversations with other customers where the cost to fix simply wasnt worth it - they will actually tell customers if whatever would be a waste of money.

Our Jeep broke down on a recent trip to Monterey. We luckily found Pacific. Rory was our Service Analyst. He was very professional. Pacific diagnosed our problem that same day and after getting parts the next day - quickly got us back on the road. Our total experience was very good- aside from the original problem. We highly recommend them.

One of the finest independents I have ever used. Complete brake service with rotors o. My 2017 Porsche Carrera cab. Cleaned the inside of the rims without having to ask . We will certainly use them again. Highly recommend!
