I made an appointment for emissions and showed up early and the older guy tells me it’s not going to happen today. He’s just too busy. I told him that I drove half an hour to get there and that I made an appointment with him that morning for the time he had recommended. He lost his temper and started yelling and told me to leave. Totally unprofessional and rude.

An hour there for emissions. Had my truck the whole time just revving it constantly in the garage for them to say the machine is broken? People before me and after me did fine....

I used this place twice for simple services.Twice theyre customers walking in and out without masks to which staff didnt react.Twice something went wrong.First time documentation for VIN check was filled out incorrectly causing my inability to register a vehicle, where the shop confused make and model. They fixed the documentation but made a big deal how grateful I should be as theyll do it free of charge.Second time I called ahead for the emissions test. I was told to come in right away and when I got there I was told the machine is not working and itll be two hours.While the mechanics are polite the main manager/owner has a serious attitude problem and makes you feel unwelcome.Not a great place to go.

Refused to perform a basic alignment citing features not on my car as the reason for this. Seriously makes me question their knowledge. You are better off going directly across the street to Hill n Dale or up the street to Meineke. HND are amazing, but you need an appointment. Will not be back.

We have been going to Monro Muffler for Inspections, oil changes, etc. for a long time. They are very direct, upfront and straight shooters.Recently I had my BMW at the Monro Muffler for the humming noise from the rear wheels. Jim was very friendly and James Sr. checked and told me it was left rear wheel bearing. They gave me a price. It was quite expensive but I knew it will be expensive. I dropped my car in the morning and in the afternoon I was told on the phone that my car was repaired. I picked up my car next morning and left directly for work and halfway to the work I heard the same humming noise from left rear wheel. I called and Jim answered the phone and I explained him that the humming noise was still there from rear wheel which he was surprised to hear but put me on hold and went to talk to the technician....few minutes later he came back and told me that his technician had made a mistake and replaced the bearing on a right rear wheel and right away told me that he will get it fixed and asked me to bring the car back. I did bring the car back and they fixed the car and went to pick up the car. Jim gave me the keys and gave me the invoice that had $0.00 charge. I offered to pay but Jim said no as it was their mistake and I offered to pay at least for the parts and Jim again refused to take any money and told me to bring my car for future repairs. I was very emotional and was honored to see the customer service they provided and for their honesty as they could have made several excuses but they did not and owned up the mistake and fixed it at no charge. I recommend Monro Muffler for car repair to everybody. Thank you James Vig Sr. and Jim Vig Jr.

Reliable and Fair service, always. Father and son business that does way more than just inspections, mufflers and brakes. Engine repairs, suspension, electrical issues. Straight shooters! Fair and honest auto repair work at a price that makes your dealership look like thieves. They take care of and stand by their repairs. They will never sell you a battery or brakes or a set of tires that you dont actually need. They will bring an issue out of the garage to show you or bring you right into the shop and show you with a work light what they see and recommend. Been taking my car and my wives car to James and Jim for YEARS!

Only ever used for DMV related vehicle stuff, VIN verification and emissions. Its first come first served so wait can vary. The technicians move quickly though. The guy at the counter is like if Oscar the Grouch turned into a human being, but it is what it is. Dont do anything to annoy him and there wont be any problems.

Entire staff extremely helpful and life savers. I had a run flat on a Sunday afternoon passing through Monro. Both manager and assistant manager to the rescue. I ended up leaving my car there and picking up a few days later. They installed my new tires and wheel alignment and after 2 months, I can report I have had no issues. Thank you!!!

As far as I am concerned, to go anywhere else to have your car repaired would be a mistake. These guys are the very best at what they do...and they do it all!!!

So I pull in wanting an oil change thinking I’m at the place I purchased a Groupon for. My mistake I was at the wrong place but I didn’t even mind because of how nice the gentleman behind the counter was, how fast the team was and the honesty about what really needs to be done on my car. Being a young female I don’t always trust places, and I feel like they are trying to over sell me. Here, it’s totally different! Ive never had a friendly encounter with the owner of this place. The location is convenient and the oil change price is reasonable... but I took my car in today for the last time. Although the manager is NEVER friendly or even polite... the mechanics are always very kind and pleasant. I give them that. I strongly would urge them to move on and work for someone else, however.

Didn’t even have to come here to know that I will NEVER be using their services. My husband called just to ask how much it would cost to swap my winter tires for all season tires..An older man picked up the phone and just said hello as if he were answering his home phone. When my husband responded, this man asked in a very rude manner, ‘what is it that you need help with?’ My husband asked about the quote and the man blatantly said that the service could not be done today. My husband then asked about tomorrow, and the guy responded rudely again saying nope can’t be done tomorrow. Before this man could say anything else, I took the phone and hung up on him. There is absolutely no reason for this man’s rudeness and I won’t tolerate anyone speaking to me or my husband that way. I called Meineke and they were super kind and able to swap the tires within the hour. Stay away from this place at all costs. There are plenty of other places around town where you will actually be treated with respect!

The service was relatively quick...but I do believe I got absolutely swindled on costs.. almost $500 for a muffler replacement? After the phone call to explain that the muffler needed replacement, I thought I was getting a good deal on the labor cost of only $90..so we agreed. However after trying to find information online and sessearch for parts I discovered that $299 for rear muffler assembly is ridiculous! This is disgusting and I plan to return on Monday to complain.

DONT GO HERE, the manager is the rudest person Ive ever met, this guy had the nerve to tell me theyre not really an oil change place when I asked if they could take me, AFTER SEEING THEIR SIGN FOR NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED ON OIL CHANGE, valvoline down the street hands down best place to take your car, kick a few extra dollars and have confidence your car will be taken care of. I had a great experience as usual when i went into monro muffler for a noise i heard coming from my front end. They were friendly and welcoming as they have been to my family and I for the past 15 years of servicing my vehicles with them. When I hear of a mechanical issue with someones vehicle I highly recommend them to go to monro muffler.

Stay clear of this place. Refused an advertised coupon discount. I had a full exhaust replaced. It was obnoxiously loud. I insisted it was corrected. They did. With a 24 month Warranty! It lasted 25 months and totally rusted away and fell apart. I also had a complete brake and rotor replacement at the same time. The Rotors warped almost immediately. They clearly use inferior quality parts. Not very friendly either.

I cant say they arent good at giving oil changes and emission checks. But they absolutely suck at being good people. I went in to get my oil changed the other day, and as soon as my car went into the garage, the owner came into the office and harassed me about my political preferences for at least a half hour. There was nothing nice about the interaction and I will never be going back here again.

$40 oil change is reasonable I think. They didnt try to upsell me on anything and they also checked all fluids and tire pressure included in the price. Good guys and veterans/police get a 10% discount on everything. Great place.

Does not honor coupons under the guise of being independently owned, in spite of the coupons themselves stating absolutely nothing about validity terms. Clearly just couldnt be bothered to file for corporate reimbursement in order to make a good impression on a customer. Very rude person and a poor representative of Monro as a company.

So. Where to begin because 1 star is way too much here.I Had them do a few thousand dollars of work to my truck. Seemed like bs everytime I went with prices but convenience was more important.Than..... I bring my jeep in for a heater core. I know its the heater core I said it was the heater core I get a call an hour later nope your wrong its the thermostat and water pump. $850.00 mind you but convenience won this again.LITERALLY 10 miles later BOOMMMM the heater core blew up in the car coolant everywhere I call and say that. Ohh we have never ever ever seen a heater core blow here yea ok....... I bring it back they refuse to change it prob because they dont know how and wont honor anything here. . And put in a loop to bypass the core and flush the radiator that was clogged all along .. I still have to heater core no heat.... and that means at all. And still need to pay another 850 plus to change it.It gets better. I bring back the truck I mentioned first due to a vibration while driving..... I know its in the drive line.....( fyi my father was an ASE certified mechanic) Im not an idiot. They say we checked everything all good its the motor mounts so we changed the rear end fluid with super duper 185 dollar fluid and looked at another part. Looked!!!!!! Didnt tell me over the phone when I paid this just said 185 do u wanna pick it up? I said Is it fixed? No but we did the fluid.......WTF now I just want my truck back so I can fix it myself. I give my card over the phone and get my broken truck I use for work back that I cant use and have to fix else with a receipt for ......285 is on the floor. 285 not 185. They took 4 bolts off my truck looked at something they didnt want to fix put back in 4 10mm bolts and charged 100 dollars. And didnt tell me didnt fix the truck at all. And changed fluid I never asked to be changed because why would I change it. It was just changed. Scummy people.....I tried to work with them. They are a bunch of scum bag crooks with no knowledge of mechanics or not how to screw people. Stay away from this joke of a shop. the owner is a complete you know what.STAY AWAY

Car had a muffler issue because I struck a manhole on an unpaved road. So I towed my car to the nearest mechanic. Boy was this a mistake. Owner, Vic, wanted to replace entire muffler system. I refused and he mumbled something about monkey boy. Talk about rude and unprofessional and he is the definition of it. Vic finally agreed to replace the part that was damaged (mid muffler section) and said I was lucky it was fixed. Muffler was fixed but price was on the high side. I will avoid this place in the future.

I have been coming to this facility in Monroe for years, as it is down the street from my own business and they do emissions testing as well as being excellent mechanics. The owner has always been nice and we have had several interesting conversations - and he certainly answered whatever car questions I had about the repairs du jour politely and in detail! In fact all the guys are friendly, the place is very clean and its a pleasant enough place to sit and wait or it is a quick walk to shops, places to eat or nail salon if you have a longer wait and need something to do. Plus I have found their prices to be fair.

Avoid this place at all costs.Im not an overly sensitive person, so I can let most things go, however, the owner of this place is a the rudest POS Ive ever had to give money to, and will get into a yelling match with you over an oil change.They did a standard oil change on my car and didnt accept the monro muffler oil change coupon I had.A little frustrating but whatever, its fine.I just wanted to get in and out because I had to drive to New Jersey later that night.Oil change is completed, I pay for it, then I start up my car and notice the headlights arent working.Now, I know from my friend who worked on my car that sometimes things get jostled when doing an oil change because of the way my car is setup.Ive had a headlight go out before, as silly as it sounds, and I merely asked the guy who worked at the front desk if it was possible something happened during the oil change, because the headlights worked fine before the oil change.The owner walks big and says Are you kidding me? Your electricity isnt connected to your oil. Get outta here.I protest and try to explain how this happens with my car sometimes, and he throws his hands up and walks away.I go home and fix the headlights myself.They were jostled loose.

Beware of the short 5-star reviews for good service. I recently had a horrible experience after several years using Monro Muffler and will never be going back.I went to Monro Muffler for a routine oil change. Upon finishing the change, the shop calls and says my brakes need replacing. I take their word for it, and one hour and $400 later, my brakes are done.Now during this time I had a vibration it my steering wheel, which I assumed was due to a bad alignment. A month after I went to Monro Muffler I went to my usual shop (I do not live in the area, but used to, so only use Monro Muffler in passing). My shop indicated that the vibration was due because of faulty brake rotors, NOT the alignment. I did not have the invoice to check what Monro replaced, so I had this shop do the rotors for the much less expensive $250.Flash forward, I check the invoice from Monro when I returned home, and it said they replaced the rotors! I made the trip all the way out to Monro to request the refund for the faulty rotors they gave me. When I explained the situation, Jim Vig Jr. met me with an extremely arrogant and demeaning tone. He said that there was no way I was getting a refund, not even if I brought the faulty rotors back! He said it was my fault for not driving all the way back to Monro Muffler with faulty brakes to get them replaces at his shop in the first place. It is clear that once this shop replaced the brakes, they did not do so much as even test them out. I am lucky that they worked at all.A final side note – when I got the oil change I brought in a coupon from the Monro Muffler website for a $19.99 oil change. Jim Vig Jr. refused to honor the coupon saying, “its the franchised Monro Muffler’s that take those, I can’t make any money off of it”.tl;dr: Monro Muffler over charged me for faulty brakes and refused to refund even a penny. I am considering taking them to small claims court over this.

5/29/18 - went in for a headlight bulb on 11 Malibu. What a pain in the arse this headlight bulb is. You have to remove the shroud and pull OFF the bumper. Total mess. I go to M.M.B. Vig because they have seasoned mechanics that wear UNIFORMS. Trust me, at another shop I would have ended up with broken clips, busted grommets and a bumper that wobbled in the wind. I trust M.M.B. Vig and they gave me a fair price.I go to M.M.B. in Monroe to relieve the stress of getting my car fixed. I put 70,000 miles a year on my car and do not need to rip my hair out. The owners (Jim Vig sr. and jr.) are in the shop everyday. They give me an honest price, are not pushy, and most important to me they use reliable seasoned mechanics. Not stoned drifters, ya know what I mean. Check em out people. Half the price of a dealer and you will NOT get cheated...comfortable lounge area is a bonus.

HORRIBLE SERVICE. I have taken my trucks here for oil changes at least 6-8 times. I have never once received what I would consider good service, or service with a smile. The ONLY thing that had me come back here as many times as I did is their convenient location (I pass the building daily going to/from work), and I imagine that this is what brings most customers here. The owner (Mr. Vig) is extremely unpleasant to say the least, and his son who is often at the counter is equally unpleasant. This boggles my mind!! I was raised to greet people with a smile and good manners, and these two men provide neither. I finally decided I would NEVER go back here again, when I reluctantly visited two months ago to get an oil change. It was close to closing time and when my oil change was just about complete, Mr. Vig came in from the garage and told me I needed new wiper blades. I replied that I was all set but thanked him anyway. He proceeded to ask why I wouldnt get new wiper blades when I would pay the same price anywhere else. AGAIN, I said no thank you. I did not think I had to justify why I didnt want to spend more money with Monro, and his response was, and I quote, That just makes no sense. I said nothing, paid for my oil change, and left. Why would I give another dollar to such a jerk? I have always bought and installed the wiper blades of my choice from the retailer of my choice, and Mr. Vic had the nerve to give me attitude for not buying them from him. What a crappy service provider. I will be going out of my way to avoid this place in the future, and I recommend that you all do the same!

This place is insane. First we were called incompetent, then we were charged for fees we never agreed to. When we disagreed with the fees the manager Jim would not take our car off the rack and called the police. Ultimatley we got stuck paying the bill just to get the car out of there. Tell everyone you know, dont go near this place!

Who else will work on your car in the afternoon while you wait for it? Nobody. And their mechanics are top notch.
