Spotted Dog Bikes made my trip to Missoula amazing! I loved the bike I rented and the owner was able to tell me cool places to ride in the area. So friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Great bikes and awesome service! We needed to rent two bikes last minute and they were super friendly and able to squeeze us in during a busy season. Its a good idea to book ahead during peak season.

My girlfriend and I came in a bit before closing. And the proprietor (Matt? I think) was really helpful and generous on helping my girlfriend and I secure bikes for the weekend.He really didn’t need to give us the bikes for the weekend. Especially considering he seemed quite busy from the day of operations.But the service was friendly and humorous. The bikes were great quality and obviously well cared for.5/5

I joined Joe on a bike trip in Utah that he organized and led in 2019. I had never done any serious off-road cycling before but Joes experience, knowledge, and strong teaching abilities made me feel safe and prepared and created an enjoyable adventure from the start.Joe has great people skills to match his backcountry experience. If youre new to bikepacking youll find that Spotted Dog offers friendly, patient, and easygoing guidance for all skill levels. Plus the food is great if Joe is doing the cooking!

This is a great place to rent a good bike. I dealt with Joe who selected an appropriately sized bike and dialed it in for me (fork and tire pressure, seat height). The Esker I rented was SRAM GX equipped with a Marzocci Bomber fork. A reasonable $40 for the day, came with a lock.Friendly.Knowledgeable.Quality bikes

Belated review, but better late than never:We were heading through the Missoula area, and Joe from Spotted Dog Cycles totally made our trip. He hooked us up with a fantastic local mixed-terrain route recommendation, last-minute accommodation tips, plus sold us some great gear (sweet tees!) when we visited his shop. Would have loved to stay longer to check out more routes and pursue some of the bikepacking tours Joe offers, but we headed on toward the coast because of weather & smoke at the time.Cant recommend Joe enough for setting up and guiding anyone through bikepacking & off-road cycling gear/route/logistics - hes a pro!

Highly recommended!Decent rental bikes in excellent condition at very reasonable rates. The daily rate includes a full 24 hours so you can return your bike the next day and not get charged extra. Rental also comes with a pump, spare tube, bike lock, helmet. Truly great service!

We were super lucky to find Joe and Spotted Dog for a recent bikepacking trip on the Wild West Route. My buddy and I are bikepacking newbies and as such needed a bunch of help and advice and shuttling and all. Joe made it easy for us, was super thoughtful in planning and in execution. He made cue sheets for us, rented my pal a great bike that had zero issues over the course of an 8-day ride, helped us make gear and packing selections and was super patient when our schedule changed due to work and smoke in the area. I cant say enough good things about Joe/Spotted Dog Cycles. He not only made our trip possible, but made it highly enjoyable as well. Already looking forward to the next trip up his way for Segment Two. Thanks Bro!!

I was told by a bike shop in another town that the 3 & 7 speed gears on my bike needed to be replaced. In just one day Joe had cleaned the gears, slightly shifted their position & replaced a cable so that the gears work again. If I ever need repair work done again, I’ll take my bike back to Spotted Dog

Joe was super awesome and helped fix my front shock while I was on vacation in Missoula. Every other bike shop was booked out weeks. He even had a sweet bike for me to rent while he fixed mine.

Joe is the person you want leading your tour! On our trip, he led 11 people with all range of ability, riding experience, and personal preferences, for two weeks, and kept everyone smiling and happy. Joes friendly, calm, and easygoing style makes you feel you are in good hands. Hell even put in extra miles on the bike if thats what it takes to make sure everyone has what they need. I will definitely look for opportunities to ride with him again!

I got a flat up by Snowbowl, and as sometime happens with equipment, the pump or the value on the tube failed. He came up and helped me straight away. Me and several buddies came into Missoula last weekend to ride bikes, and one of my buddies rented a Hayduke for the day on Saturday, but with us driving back to Bozeman on Sunday, we would have had to cut our ride early on Saturday to return the bike. They instead met us at the shop on Sunday when they were closed for us to be able to drop off the bike. A+ service. Thanks yall!
