I came in to find a bike to build but I ended up not having enough time. I did however, really enjoy the process of buying a bike from their store. They had a great selection of used bikes that had been worked on my staff and volunteers there. Bob, Emily, and Dave were all a HUGE help when I had wanted to make minor adjustments to the bike I was buying. I had very little experience working on a road bike but they walked me through and were so knowledgeable. This is by far the coolest community bike shop. Catch some of their live music too! And make a donation if you can because this shop does amazing work.
Great business that helps people of all walks of life have and maintain bikes. Plus its a great venue for events.
Thanks free cycle for your help on Saturday with Ethans and my bike, Im pretty sure it took the hole crew, but by the end of the day we where supper happy about our bikes. You guys are one awesome business
Fantastic service to western montana. Bob and crew are the best.
What a strange and wonderful place! Work on your bike, get parts, get help - even build a bike - for free! Worth going to just to take a look around.
Incredibly helpful in getting a bike and learning what I need to maintain it. Very helpful people and an amazing community asset
They give free bikes to people in need asking minimum help in return. They repurpose discarded bikes, mainly on a volunteer basis. This is a great example of our commuinty and the good people living here.
Go build a bike. Take the family and have fun
Very polite and helpful got the kids set up
I adore this place and the people who run it.
Emily goes way above what is expected to make sure you have everything you need to ride in safety and comfort. They have used bikes that are in great condition and will tailor them for you if necsessary
Very kind and understanding people also attempting to get the extra mile to accommodate me
Free Cycles ROCKS! We requested a bike for an 8 year old girl and as usual Free Cycles came through!!! And they were able to find her favorite color too!Love all the folks who make it possible for kids to keep riding. Thank you!
Super fantastic bike forest
This is the best thing ever! It will help you build your own bike for free if you can just volunteer a little bit. And what a nice friendly atmosphere it was just fun all around. I would love to volunteer there again!
Good people love supporting local
The staff is super friendly and helpful and ready to answer any questions you may have! You can take their class and build your own bike, or buy one thats ready to go! Overall its a great community, plus they have awesome live music pretty often!!
Just a great business that is all about helping the community and providing free bicycles to anyone in need.
There is so much to say about this place and the people who operate it. First off, the gentleman who runs the place, Bob, is so genuinely good and caring. Its not an act. And his expertise is without question. Emily, too, is precious and very knowledgeable. Four hours of your time volunteering and you can choose your bike, modify it however you want, and ride away. I go back every weekend because I believe in the process. You will too.
Bob his staff and everything that they provided was top.otxh. .
Amazing place! They have every bike part/bike you need! Plus they give your kids free bikes! They gave my two toddlers free bikes and even put the training wheels on them for me! Great group of people! We should all really support this place! Great non profit!! Will come back!
Good people and they help others in time of need
Best hands on do it yourself bike shop in town! Friendly helpful employees and volunteers will help you build your own (free) bike! Great place to drop off unwanted bike parts and bikes too. And a great venue for local music acts! With a volunteer run garden as well.
Here for First Night. Had some good bluegrass music. Outside there was a nice bonfire. Thanks!
I really like my bike. But the guy who helped me was very patronizing. Like he could be doing better things with his time. When I doubled checked things with him he seemd like I wasting his time. He just seemed agitated whenever I asked for help. I get it is busy but still...The overall experience was good so yeah. It was pretty alright.P.S. Six months later the thing I kept asking him about broke. So yeah.
I felt bad having to ask for a free cycle but I found one I thought I could salvage in their not fixable pile and it got me to work until I could buy a car. Once I had the car I began putting $5 or $10 in their donations box every month for a while. I still send people there who can use their help. If you need parts or advise on cycles try free cycles
Every city, town or Hamlet should have a place like Free Cycle. Donate your unused bikes beats taking them to the recycling center or the Dump. Their volunteer makes it easy to pick a bike and the parts to referbish it. Take the kids and get them involved and soon enough they will know and understand the mechanics of the bycicle. More important they will gain pride and appreciate their bike more because they helped rebuild it.
This shop is awesome. Donation based, lots of used parts, stands and tools, and knowledgeable staff to help you get your bike going or build one
There aren’t enough good things to say about the service Free Cycles provides, and the incredible volunteers that make it possible. I brought my new to me bike in for a serious shifting problem, and Steve literally spent the whole time I was there helping take everything apart to replace the free wheel and tires. Thanks to Bob and Steve for their advice and help my bike is fixed and I am the happiest camper I can be. You guys are the best! THANK YOU 💗
OMG... These guys are amazingly fantaatic & friendly. Very helpful & knowledgeable... If your looking to tune up your bike or do some major fixing~ this is the spot to go!
They helped me get my bike up and running, no charge. Thanks guys
THE BEST PLACE IN MISSOULA. I WOULD BE BIKELESS WITHOUT THEM. ❤️❤️❤️
This place is incredible, and truly there to help support the community.
Wanna build yourself a bike for free? Wanna hear a cool local band? Wanna host a local event? Wanna wander through stacks of bike parts? Just wanna chill? You can do all that here at some time or another. Check out their Facebook for events or just stop by and talk to the super friendly people who man the bike stations. Free Cycles is the place to be.
Awesome place to fix bike or get a bike of your own.
Amazing. So thankful for the help I received from the community. Got my bike fixed and learned how to do it myself. They provided all the parts and if you cant afford to donate you dont have to. Really an amazing thing we have here.
Friendly, helpful staff. Roommate enjoyed learning to build bikes and excited to start riding at the age of 67 after knee replacement, after fifteen years of not being able to ride.
This place was cool, they let my five year old son and I find and help put a new chain on a bike for free! Thanks free cycle your awesome!
My grandchildren each got a free bike. The kind people were very nice to show us around.
Great bikes-- great prices-- great mission!
This nonprofit is an asset to the community, as Missoula, Montana is very bicycle friendly. Recycled bicycles are offered for sale, there is a boneyard of parts for free. Necessary tools and bike vises are on hand for your use. I have taken their class on bike saftey, repair and shop info. I have enjoyed assisting in bike assembly, volunteers are kind and helpful. They accept donations and offer a lot of free idems. Family friendly environment. I adjusted my breaks, was given a free reflector and met the awesome manager, Emily. A must stop for anyone into bicycles.
Great place to go if you dont mind getting your hands dirty they have the knowledge theres plenty of parts just help donate or help with your time to help others
Love Free Cycles !
Missoula is such an amazing city I am constantly inspired by this cities people. This is an amazing program with passoniate people good good people at the helm. My wife and I have been on our feet since January and after we did the bike safety course they made sure we had something to ride home with this is a great asset to this community my wife and I are so greatful for their kindness.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, its a great service they provide for the community.
Lots of bikes and parts! It was really cool to c all those kids working on bikes!
The staff is very nice there. And whenever I need to fix my bike or get one I can always go there.
Awesome place and awesome people. Really good way to spend some time and further enjoy a hobby.
This place does an AMAZING service to the city of Missoula! For people who really care about bikes, and the ways in which communities can be bettered by them, this is the place to go. Also, you can exchange volunteer work for a free bike! Incredible deal.
I got drunk and broke my dad’s bike once. Years later, I took the tattered frame and good components to the shop. With the help of Free Cycles I brought my dad’s old bike back to life. The new bike fit me way better than the old set up. Thank you Bob and Emily. This experience led me to believe I can also volunteer and help others.
Quick service and polite people
Free repairs and free bikes if you volunteer enough hours. Wish some of the volunteers kept their politics to themselves, had a new bike to donate but when I got a talking down to about my big corporate schwinn, I decided to give it away myself, gotta love what they are doing for the community, still need to tone down the elitism and big business bashing. I should not have to agree with someone politically to be charitable. Their loss.
Need a bike? Contribute some volunteer time, and you earn a bike. An amazing place to learn the ins & outs of a bike.
Helpful people, friendly faces, great space. Get your free bike by volunteering at this place.
Awesome shop, awesome environment. Plenty of expertise between the staff. Definitely an awesome venue and great music.

Its a great repair shop. And its free/ donations.
Professional people with the aim to develop healthy lifestyle of Missoulian through promoting cycling
A non profit dedicated to making sure EVERYONE can have a bike to ride. Donate 4 hours of work and you earn the privilege of building a bike from scratch!
Awesome program if I had time I would so donate to this thanks for the help😀
Great people. Free parts to repair your bike. Really awesome thing they do there.
What a great place. I was able to help my daughter build a commuter bike here.
Its all about the bike- and people, thus community. I recommend checking it out.
One of my favorite nonprofits around town they are very helpful and generous people
With the right eye, the various stairs and loading areas make for good climb/dropoff practice... Just look out for others. Also bring your own Allen and torx tools.
Glad theyre open again. You might not find exactly what you need for free, but theres something there that will work. And you might learn a few things or be able to teach someone else. A Missoula community treasure.
Perfect resource for bike repairs! Knowledgeable staff and all the free used parts you need
This place is something better explained by the people who run it, but what I gathered is they will take bikes that you dont want or a bike abandoned on the side of the road and fix it up and give it to someone who does want it. You can also bring in a bike you do want and fix it yourself (they will teach you how if you dont know) and make it better/ useable again and take it home for free.
The kids had a blast! They had pieces, parts, whole bikes, and great educational guidance.
Wonderful experience. Got 2 bikes, a little tlc and road Worthy.
Will help you build your own bike
Friendly and helpful, and within anyones budget!
Good place to fix up your bike, friendly staff to help if needed
The staff was friendly and helpful and hooked our son up with a free bike.
Amazing! I bought a bike from here, and have been going here for years. I love it!
Everyone is helpful and enthusiastic to show you how to fix a bike and get you all set up. Lovely.
A friendly, welcoming atmosphere and expert assistance with bike repairs. Also a great place to rent a bike in Missoula--at $25 a month or $2 a day, you cant beat the price.
Grateful to have something so awesome in our community!
Great people and a huge shop. Always someone who can help you fix or build a bike.
If you ride a bike and you are in town, you gotta stop by this place. Its pretty unique and the staff is fantastic!
Totally awesome place to get your bike fixed. If you dont know how, no problem. There is always somone who will help you
Great group of people - well worth the visit!
Bob is amazing, staff is super helpful
Took my family, worked on our bikes, had a good time! Very helpful staff.
I love this place. It is the definition of community.
I came in 2 the shop with some friends, Ive been here before and I know how it works, so I was there about an hour looking through the crappy bikes and my friend picks out a bike to make a tramp bike and I was going to take a frame home to make a cruiser, we knew it wasnt free to make a bike but we know you could take parts for free and frames are parts. my friend has his in a stand taking off the cranks so me and my other friend go look at a dirt jump bike on another stand the guy behind the counter says yes thats a real dirt jumper and no its not for you in a jack ass way. we knew that it was someones and we didnt want it. We have dirt jump bikes all ready. Thats what was the real problem but after that he goes and what are you doing with that bike to the friend with a frame in the stand my friend said removeing the cranks he said you have to donate some money or volunteer here we had no problem doing either but again he said it in a jack ass way. So we said we dont have money on us and we dont have time do volunteer so well come back another time. I and my friends will never go back to that junk yard with shity bikes and shity service again.
The very best at what they do!!
Amazing organization. Thanks for the wheels, Bob!
Theres no other bicycle parts repair place like it in the world
Helpful staff/great option for acquiring a bicycle!
Relaxed atmosphere, live music with three bands.
