Extraordinarily friendly staff (MJ + the guy that was working afternoon of 9/27) seemed genuinely interested in making sure I got the right setup and patiently answered every question I had.
Awesome place of business. The shop had some newly put together Kona Dew Plus and perfect size for me. Salesman was super professional, courteous, and knowledge about the products and his business field. Will do business with again.
I don’t normally write reviews but I will this time. I was coming through Missoula on the trans-america route and my bike needed some work after 1000+ miles. I took it here explained what I was doing and less then 24 hours later and only $200 my bike is running better then ever and I am back on my way. I am very grateful for this place.
Just picked up my bike after having a full tune up and took it for a ride. WOW! It is like a brand new bike. I cant remember when my 30+ year old bike rode so well. You guys did an incredible job! Thank you!
I just stopped by to have my crankcase cleaned and regreased. They did an excellent job and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend!
I don’t understand how a business can have so much demand and is not willing to get more people or pay people to work weekends or overtime. Every year is the same, the spring and summer the appointments for a basic tuneup are 2-3 weeks away. This demand is predictable but their labor does get adjusted, why? During Covid everyone was buying bikes couldn’t they predict that people were going to need service a year later? I bought 2 bikes from them last year but it seem that it does not matter. Sad, I hope someone sees the opportunity to disrupt this business model.
If you’re a woman or feminine, be prepared to have some bro assume that you know nothing about what you’re talking about. Better places to take your bike.
MJ was super awesome, patient, smart and kind. Im new to cycling and come with a lot of questions. She made me feel welcome and I will definitely be back to Missoula Bike Works for all my bike needs.
Chad really knows his stuff. Very knowledgeable and happy to share what he knows. Plus he doesnt make you feel LESS THAN, for not knowing a lot about certain bikes. Great Guy and Great Store, I will be going back.
These guys did a fantastic job with an adult trike with no instructions! What a challenge, but they did it!
I own several classic bicycles and these folks are the only ones I trust to service them. Andy does a fantastic job with my old bikes and the rest of the staff is friendly and accommodating. And to top it off their pricing is very fair and affordable! Great service and great pricing, what more could a customer ask for?! Keep up the great work, it’s a pleasure doing business with you all!!
They do good work for a reasonable price, but the guy in charge was not very friendly with his customers or employees. Maybe he was just having a bad day, but I didn’t enjoy the atmosphere.
I went from having a pretty bad experience at another local bike shop to having a great experience at Missoula Bicycle Works. I had a chain jam, and the other shop said they would need to break the chain, and my bike would have to sit in the shop for 3 weeks. Also, the day before, I swung by that same shop and mentioned my rear brake was spongy. They told me it was probably fine and they couldnt tune it on the spot. At Missoula Bicycle Works, the mechanic fixed my chain jam on the spot (without breaking the chain), and also adjusted the rear brake without me even mentioning it. They charged me almost nothing, and I have a strong suspicion the other shop would have charged me substantially more. I trusted the mechanic and I also found the other employees to be friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.
I shopped for my bike for about a month. Missoula Bicycle works offered me the best balance of service, knowledge and price. I would recommend them to anybody. I am just getting back into mountain biking and felt like they did the best job of explaining features and selling me a bike with the capabilities that would best suit my needs. I will happily return for service and future purchases.
I needed a rear tube replaced, not only did they get it done very quickly and at a reasonable price. I asked them to replace the front if needed, they could have and I would not have known any thing was wrong. The honesty of the people there is superb
Cannot recommend these folks enough. They are truly bike people. This isnt just a way to pay the bills for them - its a passion. When some of our bikes and gear didnt get delivered for the collegiate mountain biking championships due to a Fedex accident, they went above and beyond to help us.We honestly couldnt have hoped for more than they did to try to make our experience competing the best they possibly could - even though NONE of it was their fault. They were generous with their time, their equipment, and were incredibly kind and gracious about the whole thing. They obviously know their craft, and were able to be helpful to the elite level riders we brought. Just an all around excellent experience!
They have an experienced staff that actually owes and rides the bikes they sell. They have a wide range of bikes from inexpensive starter bikes to professional racing bikes upwards of $6k. Their comments on a bike I rode matched my experience riding it. Warm and welcoming. A+. MJ is a great saleswoman and experienced rider.
Friendly service, good selection of bikes, and rentals are priced well and well maintained. Would recommend.
The owner, Alex, did a great job fitting my bike to me. I watched as a mechanic explained an inexpensive fix to a customers problem rather than just sell the customer a part that would have cost more than the repair. Good folks who will get you one bike and keep you rolling.
I went into the shop with a bike that had been beat up during a move, expecting to spend $$$. It turned out to be an easy fix. They fixed it in 10 minutes while I was in the shop, showed me exactly what they did (so I could do it myself in the future), and didnt charge me a dime. Super friendly, nice, and knowledgeable guys. Couldnt recommend more
These folks are great and often charge less than the quote. Once they charged nothing at all when I stopped in with a busted derailleur that just needed some knowledgable tending to and ended up being a quick fix for them without any new parts! Ill keep coming back!
Would like to take a moment to send props to Alex and his bicycle mechanic Andy for bailing me out today and going way beyond to accommodate my situation. Took the day off to ride from Hamilton to Seeley Lake on my 60th Birthday weekend celebration. In Bonner I crushed my rear rim and destroyed the tire and tube. Alex came out to Bonner and drove both my bike and myself to his store which wasn’t open yet for an hour plus. Had me back on the road by 9:30 and I made my destination before 1 pm. Once again THANK YOU !!! Vern.
I brought in my vintage Davidson to these guys... They did an absolute wonderful job of repairing and taking care of an antique that still rides like a dream. When complemented on my bike, I really knew they loved their work. Thanks!
Rented a road bike for the day. Bike was in great shape, reasonable price & very helpful staff
Great shop. Stopped in at the end of a tour and had 3 bikes packed up and shipped. Very nice, helpful folks.
Thank you guys! Big community supporter. Best shop in Missoula.
Great bike rental. Super friendly!
Very helpful staff. They get the job done right.
Quick and friendly service, knowledgeable staff, and a welcoming shop layout. Highly recommended!
I was in there earlier today looking to buy some small parts that I didnt have at home. The mechanics seemed to think that because I was on the sales floor, I wouldnt be able to hear their conversation in the shop, where they decided to ridicule me because I had the audacity to think that a bicycle shop would want to sell me small bike parts like a brake mounting nut and a radius washer. Who does this guy think we are, Ace Hardware? Dont waste my time with that. I hate it when people do this.Wow! I hate to think what they would say about me if I came in there for bike service.
***update*** it has been over five months now and no answer to emails or phone calls. I have learned that these guys have done this before, wreaking someones bike and not taking ownership of what they have done. I have also learned that the cycling community in Missoula is awesome and there is a lot of better people and shops here.***I do not recommend these guys at all. The most dishonest group of guys in Missoula. If you bring your bike in for service, TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR BIKE BEFORE YOU BRING IT IN!!! and detailed pictures! I am new to town and was looking for a good bike shop, and thought that these guys would be good they had a few high-end road bikes in the shop and were really knowledgeable about other road bikes. Before I moved to Montana for work, I had bought my dream bike, a Pinarello Dogma 65.1, this was my daily driver before I moved. When I brought the bike in for a rear wheel problem. The bike was there for a week, that was fine I was traveling, so it was part of the plan. I get a call that they had found a hole in the frame on the down tube. Now, before I brought the bike in I did wipe down the bike and I would have noticed a hole on the down tube. I transport it inside the car less likely to get stolen and less damage from road debris. The only response I got from them was, Its your word against mine... they said that on high end bikes they separate them from the other bikes, and they are not hung. But, when I went in to get my bike, the bike was hanging by the front wheel next to all the other service bikes. They also said that if they ... would never admit to wrecking a $4K frame that tells me they looked up how much a replacement frame would be, because that is how much a replacement would be. I had sent the bike back to the shop I had bought the bike from, and they had proven that it was caused by a chain ring hitting it. The response I got from Missoula Bike Works was, ... oh, it looked like someone took a screwdriver and a hammer to itAll I am saying is these guys dont care about you or your bike, do go to them.I am dealing with getting a replacement because the bike is under warranty, though, it is a crash replacement. so it is going to cost a lot of money for me now.
What I like best is they know what they are doing with out the bike dude snobbery thing I witness so often, ugh! They are nice, knowledgable, without trying to scare the beejeezus out of me to get an upsell as Bike Source did :(. I always bike away with out feeling dumped on. Im glad I got that out!
Always helpful and knowledgeable friendly service
Very good.kona bike
Excellent shop.
Cool shop
