My girlfriend took in her car for an oil change and emission test. Over the weekend, we noticed a small gas leak from where the filler tube meets the gas tank. While the car was on the lift getting the oil changed, the technician was supposed to take a look. Before even looking at the car, Frank (Manicini I believe) told my girlfriend that the car would have to sit overnight at the dealership. I called and spoke with Frank to see what the deal was, and then explained to him what happened to cause the gas leak. I also explained to him that my girlfriend had to drive the car to work the next morning, and absolutely needed her car. Frank Mancini ensured me that she would be able to drive home that night.At 7PM, after 3.5 hours of waiting, a technician told my girlfriend that the car would have to stay overnight. In this 3.5 hours, the oil was not changed, the emission test was not performed, so I was confused what the Service Department actually did in that time. She was not offered a courtesy vehicle, and had to Uber to a family members house to borrow a car. This is absolutely unacceptable. What would have happened if this was an out-of-state customer with no family in the area?She was then told that her car would be ready the next day. After making arrangements to pick up her car, the dealership said that it would not be available until that weekend, and that she could rent a car from the dealership for $30 per day. I have never heard of a dealership requiring the customer to rent from them. At a service rate of $128 per hour plus parts, you think that they would be able to provide a COURTESY car.An appointment for an oil change, emission test, and a QUOTE, turned into 4-day long endeavor. We will not be returning to Middletown Toyota for any service, even if the car broke down right in front of it. Frank should stick to turning wrenches and not talking to customers.
