I drove my car to Spencers in Chandler with no issues and advised them of an oil leak. When they called me the next morning, after I had just looked at the inspection report they sent me. There was no mention of the oil leak. I was told I needed a new battery, at the price of $459 before they could diagnose my leak ( after reading the many other issues they were able to diagnose). I told them not to do anything, I was picking it up, knowing there was nothing wrong with my fairly new battery. When I got there the car started with no problem, but would not stay running. My boyfriend lifted the hood, reattached the mass air intake and I drove home with no issues, even though my car needs $5000 worth of work that does not include the oil leak they were not able to diagnose. Not my first time to Spencers, but Definately my last

Recently my Catalytic converter was stolen and when deciding on a repair shop they were the first and only shop that popped in my head.They do quality work and kept me informed of what was going on. The work was done quickly and if not waiting on insurance I would of had my car back within a week. I highly recommend the one on Baseline in Mesa, professional in every way, always greet you by name and with a smile. Support your local shop..

I had a free AC check done on my CRV because the cold air would come and go. After 45 minutes of them checking my car out they said the compressor was shot. I told them the compressor was installed last year. They said the machines dont lie! They sent me away with a quote of $1,800. As I drove away I had absolutely no cold air!! Whatever they did, it took all the coolness away. I then went and got a second opinion the next day and all it was was a plug underneath the car that attaches to the compressor. It had come lose and it took the mechanic minutes to fix, and only $70.00. Make sure you get a second opinion after taking it here.

Wonderful customer service, great prices, both of my cars are working great now. Had an oil change on one of them and the other one we were having brake bleeding issues. They fixed everything in a timely manner and I will definitely be coming back to them again

Always give me updates on what the tech suggests to be done(through text with link that shows the tech working on your vehicle in real time) and have a rating system of how important those are based off of immediate or soon. Brought car in to diagnose/fix check engine light and emissions fail under VVRP program. If you want to take advantage of VVRP and you have a check engine light on, you have to intentionally fail emissions to qualify for the repair assistance.The shop found no leak. With no other explanation they wrongly concluded my new-looking gas cap had been replaced since failing inspection. It was not the case. It was a cap I replaced 15 months earlier. When I went back to emissions they confirmed they did not replace it (and their replacement caps dont have tethers, so no doubt).So I paid $150 for a reset but no repair. It did pass the emissions retest, though I must have a slow leak still, maybe from the cap. Erick and the shop did all they could and were professional so I cant fault them.Lesson is: if you have a check engine light with an emission test due, and the code is for a slow leak, go through emissions and insist they replace your gas cap and retest before agreeing to the VVRP program which WILL cost you $150 even if nothing is found. Messed up. No way the shop could have known even if they got the cap thing right. The emissions stations dont see this often enough to recognize it so Im probably the only one who knows this, hopefully I can avoid the $150 two years from now. Maybe someone will read this and save that unnecessary expense.

We always have a good experience at the Mesa location of Spencer’s. The guys are friendly and knowledgeable and can usually get me in last-minute. They are not pushy and give you a thorough courtesy inspection before your service. We will continue using them!

The only thing I felt lacking was that I wasnt given an estimate of the cost upfront. I was also not told the repairs might have taken more than 1 day. These are important factors as I am a senior, and single.

I have been coming here for a couple of years now. They have always done phenomenal work and been very transparent. This time I only needed an oil change but I have had them work on multiple cars with issues that were missed by dealers and other shops. I appreciate how their team looks for root issues to make sure it’s fixed right the first time. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

When one of our fleet vehicles in the middle of summer started to overheat intermittently I reached out to Spencer’s Auto Repair in Mesa. They were able to get me an appointment quickly and after some tireless work found what the issue was and repaired. The price was reasonable and the customer service was excellent. As an AC contractor it can be really bad for business to have a service vehicle out of commission, because of their timing, communication and all around great experience I will be using these guys for my future repairs and maintenance needs.

What kind of a shop refuses to work on a cars head gasket if they cant do a head gasket they arent real mechanics.

I went in expecting to spend 150-250$ on a electrical work for my tail lights and head light. The got me an Uber home and an Uber to pick up my vehicle. The total I spent was $160. They didn’t try to nickel and dime me. Painless experience. I’ll be back!

The high ratings for Spencer Auto Repair are valid. I’ve been here twice. My recent visit was for A/C. They determined that the A/C was actually working fine but would probably blow colder except that the little plastic baffle was missing in the engine which forces all air to go through the radiator. They made a temporary fix, did a full inspection of the vehicle, and did everything thing for free. No charge!! I’m a DIY person but will definitely take my truck to Spencer when I need work done that I can’t handle in my garage.

My family has been customers of Spencers since their beginnings & will continue going. They always go above & beyond for us & give us honest, thorough inspections & repairs.

We have taken vehicle here for a miss . We were called and told it needed tie rod ends so I told them to replace them then told it needed ball joints I told them replace them long story short after $1,000 of dollars in repairs they finally looked at what it was originally brought in for and said it had low compression on cylinder #2 and the engine needed replaced because they didn’t know if it was rings or what. If you bring a vehicle in for service look first and find out what is wrong then look at other things. We spent $1000 of dollars on a vehicle now just sits because it cannot pass emissions VERY POOR MANAGEMENT and SERVICE

Last September I took my car into Spencer’s to have the A/C checked, they did the check for free because of a special they had running. When I was finally able to get the A/C fixed (May) they completed it while I waited (I was offered a free Uber ride but wanted to wait).Then my bill was $50 less then the original estimate because of another special. I’m always happy to save money and the C/S was just great. Randy at the front desk is very pleasant. Of course it happened during a heat wave. I looked up auto repair shops and read reviews and decided on Spencer Auto Repair. I work in the automotive industry myself, just not on the repair side, so I do know about common repairs. But, just like most people I want my wife and family members to feel comfortable and be treated honestly and fairly.She was greeted promptly by a friendly service writer who verified her appointment and told her to have a seat and relax in the lounge. During that time the manager came in and talked to my daughter and wife to pass some time by. They quickly diagnosed the issue and were able to evacuate and recharge the A/C system. My wife felt safe and confident that the services being performed accurate and needed. The invoice was quite a bit lower than I was expecting for this service. I took my 2005 Mazda Tribute in to Spencer for some major drive ability repairs, A/C issues and functions, as well as some minor issues I wanted handled.I was not impressed with the lack of communication and things I asked to be checked. I have decided to take my vehicle back to my mechanic in Phoenix. He is 40 minutes away, does amazing work, for half the price. He will be finishing the things I asked to be done by Spencer Auto. They did try to make it right but honestly, I know when a company is overcharging and I feel like my money is better spent on a car repair company that wont gouge and have me keep coming back when something was over looked several times. #goodlucktoyou!

Brought my wifes car in for the oil change special. Really enjoyed the fact that I could converse with everyone there. Decided to get a quote for my 71 El Camino. I recently put new components under it for better handling and suspension. Had them do a front end alignment and an oil change. They got my El Camino lined up perfectly. Did courtesy inspections on both cars and rotated the tires on wifes car. Have my lists of recommended services to both cars. I will gladly bring my vehicles back to them when I have the money to do so. Look forward to sending business their way. Gave my father a card to send him there as well. If youre looking for a mechanic that is honest, reliable, fair, compassionate, knowledgeable and professional you neednt look any further than Spencers. Their commitment to cultivating a long and lasting relationship with their customers is more than evident from the first time you meet or talk to them over the phone. When they found out I needed my AC diagnosed and repaired there was no hesitation. They got me in the very next day. They ended up putting dye in the system to locate an obvious slow leak. But get this, and hold on to your hats. Will, who is like the General Manager found out the reason I need ed my AC fixed right away was due to a family emergency, he got approval right away from the owner of Spencers to waive my initial $80.00 fee. This is what they charge for diagnosing the AC, plus after evacuating the system it must be refilled with R134a. They did all of that for nothing, O, Nada, The Big Goose Egg, Zilch. Who does that? Never in 68 years did anyone do that for me but even after I told them it wasnt necessary, They insisted and did it for FREE!!! Talk about understanding, caring and compassion, I was and still am, blown away by their high standard of excellence. Their morals and integrity are really at the forefront of their business model. They figured out if you treat people right, everything else will take care of its self. As a disabled veteran, single, raising a special needs child by myself, Im on a very real budget. Ive also been to many, many Auto Repair Shops in my day. If youre looking to being treated fairly and honestly, not having to worry if youre being over charged or getting unnecessary work done just so the shop can make more money, put your mind and your pocketbook at ease, the answer to your quest is.....SPENCERS AUTO REPAIR. Picked up some groceries and trunk wouldnt stay shut. Spencer was next door, Geof checked out the trunk, tried lubrication on the latch, determined it was not repairable, found a way to tie the trunk lid down and I was able to go home. Great jog, Geof - I respect people who care and help. If anyone asks, I will say definitely go to Spencer for auto repair!

Randy and his guys are the best. I had a repair done on the TIPM of my car, and they went above and beyond to make sure that everything was done properly and that there were no other issues with my car. Recently, my car went into limp mode, so I went here to get it checked and I found out that my transmission had gone bad... kinda awful news, but the fact that Randy made it a courtesy inspection meant the world to me as I was definitely tight on cash right around when that happened. Next time I need to see a mechanic for my current car, I will be sure to go to back here!!

I found Spencers on Facebook and so happy I did..i made a appointment for a oil change...i asked if he could take a look around under the car to make sure everything was good...he told me both rocker arms were busted... I took it to my car lot and it was still under my warranty ... so my car lot fixed it and its saved me $800 so I will definitely be going back to Spencers for any future car needs

My car was in desperate need of maintenance on certain things and couldn’t put it off anymore so I took it to Spencer’s early morning New Years Eve. Art informed me they were backed up and couldn’t help until later on in the week but once I insisted if there was any way they could squeeze me in, they were able to get it done before the end of the day! They were even kind enough to offer me a Uber ride to my house! I appreciate again for helping me out last minute! I definitely recommend this place to anyone!

I printed my coupon for a oil change and didnt think much about it. Then I received a text from Will H. at the corporate office asking if he could schedule my appointment for me. To my surprise Will was filling in for Randy the manager that was out that day. Let me tell you, Spencers completely changed my mind about garages. Will was so fantastic with taking care of me and understanding that Im on a fixed income. Being a women, you hear horror stories about mechanics/garages but Spencers completely changed my opinion. They were courteous and told me what the cost would be before the work was done. They told me I have a leak in my water pump and took a picture to show me, I have a warranty on my car still and Will took care of contacting the company so I didnt have to deal with it and setting up my appointment. I will be a customer from now on and will recommend Spencers to anyone. I worked in the automotive industry for years and the service that Will and Spencers gave to me does not happen often these days. Thank you Spencers Auto.

THIS IS ANOTHER UPDATE.PROS: WARRANTY THEIR REPAIRS.CONS: Will keep your car for several days for simple repairs. May sell you something you dont need. May need to take your car back again for another three or four days.I had my car here two times for an electrical issue. They fixed it the second time after they sold my boyfriend a part we didnt need. The tech wired it wrong and now I have no sound in my stereo. That was two years ago and it is waranty for three years but I dont want to be without my car for three days again.
