I walked in the store on Thursday October 1st trying to get information about an upgrade to my phone. I was told I had to make an appointment and the first appointment they had was Saturday October 23rd. I made the appointment for 9:00 am and arrived at the store 15 minutes early. I checked in on my phone and also with the lady at the door. I was told someone would be right with me. After 35 minutes I was still waiting to be helped. There were only two people working in the store. One person was helping the 8:00am customer and the other was stocking shelves. The lady stocking shelves said someone will be in soon to help out. Now I’ve been waiting 40 minutes pass my appointment. What’s the use of making an appointment of you still have to wait. The lady stocking shelves should have helped out, but I guess stocking shelves is more important than helping customers. I left because I had to be at work by 11:00. After work I walked into Best Buy and pre ordered my phone. I will take my business elsewhere from now on, the customer service at this store sucks.
I had Brandon help me earlier today. It was a weird complicated issue with my trade in for my new iPhone and he fixed it and we were in and out in under 20 minutes! It was a great and I know he’s going to do great things there! Super friendly funny and helpful!
Ive been sitting here for 2.5 hours and all Im trying to do is give them my business by switching to their network. Probably the most pathetic experience Ive had inside of a business in 10+ years.Update - Total of 4.5 hours spent. They sent me home without my network working so Im sitting here with no service now.Big district managers came in while I was there. Never once asked how things were going, the store managers and districts just stood around and BSed offering no assistance what-so-ever. The regular employees there are cool but the managers use a lackadaisical buddy buddy approach while not actually do anything to help the situation.Trust me. Dont waste your time. After all, I had 4.5 hours to sit and observe this business while they didnt and still havent helped me. Id give this place negative stars if I could.Nice generic response Bro.
Lacking basic customer service skills. Would not recommend this location at all. They will tell you to do everything online or over the phone.
Came there to get my uncles phone repaired. The staff there (thanks especially to Jawad) was very friendly and helpful with a difficult situation about the accounts, and they helped fix both his phone and the charging issues it was having

Only to have two (2) automated voices stating to check a text message for 4 and 1/2 minutes alternating in a repetitive annoying fashion. 🤐 Before calling the store I searched the website for an appointment. Another pointless runaround, just another layer of avoidance to have a technical support question go unanswered. Only useful interaction, with this review, is to inform you that there is no other authorized dealer outside of the NWI area that is better resourced & equiped to handle customer related inquiries. It is in your best interest to have you wallet ready for a new purchase. As the in-store sales team is in the service of selling new devices. Dont worry, the sales solution comes as soon as your willingness to resolve a technical support issue(s) or problem is completely fatigued. ☺️ Funny how you cant conversate with a telecommunications representative from telecommunication company in regards to telecommunication technical support of services. 🤖 But, try the app... because it should be your first option. Not last...hahaha...Go luck.
Terrible! The wait time is ridiculous!! They clearly make people wait around to get you to buy more devices or upgrade your phone. Elderly people especially!! Shame on them!!! Dont let your elderly loved ones go here!

Save yourself the aggravation. Go to a different company or store. My contract said my bill would be 97 dollars, Ive been to the store 4 times with the young salesman assured me the bill would be adjusted. After I pay for my phone Ill be running to T-mobile by the way Ive been paying $125.00

Spectacular service
Went to Verizons Merrillville location for phone covers and chargers. I am not a Verizon carrier, just needed cases and chargers. Verizons transaction machine, that they made me use due to caronavirus, supervised by an employee, went haywire and charged me twice for my accessories. Also, it charged me a 3rd time for a different price. Now I am out $360.00 !! Verizon does not do in-store refunds, so I have to wait 30 days to get my money back. Not to mention the 3-hour long trips, into the store, to demand the money they stole from me. (Still waiting for the refunds)
Verizon is a very reliable cell phone provider. I commend them on the extraordinary steps they’ve taken to ensure all of their customers are connected during the pandemic. The customer service support can be improved upon. Some phone agents are totally awesome and others just want to get you off the phone and could care less about providing solutions to your problems.The customer service support I’ve received in the store is mediocre, especially Merrillville location. The last store purchase I made was in Schererville, IN and the Customer Associate that assisted was FABULOUS.
The greeter at the mv corporate store is not friendly. Its a lady with longer hair heavy make-up, long finger nails. She doesnt welcome the customer instead behaves like we are an intrusion to her day. Where would Verizon be without the customer ? I was coming in to pay my bill to the tune of 290.00 $ Ive been a customer with Verizon since 2000. 🙁
This location was pretty good. The guy that helped us was friendly and mostly informative. However, we think all employees should be trained to know about Androids as well as iPhones. Not everybody has nor wants an iPhone. He was unable to answer our Android questions.
So tragic you don’t take care of longtime customers better. We went in to update our phones numerous times and never could get any kind of deal. However Verizon never ran short giving new customers all kind of deals. We won’t be back. It gets you nowhere been loyal.
Showed up at 6:45, the lady in the store shook her head at us saying not to come in basically. If you don’t close at 8 you should change your online hours. I drove an hour to come here. Smh

Finally I have a phone that works great wherever I go.This store is clean and well kept. Employees were nice and helpful. Standard company store for the Verizon brand. Employees are well versed in the up-sell and point of sale extras. Review your transactions fully as they have been known to double charge certain things, once at the store and then again added to your monthly bill.
The specific phone I wanted to purchase in store was not available so the manager Sam went out of his way to call around in search of where one could be. He then drove to another store to retrieve the phone for me so that I would be able to purchase and receive it that day! They went over and beyond to make sure I left happy! More than excellent service is what I surely received, much appreciated

Had a great experience at this store. Went in there was no line and agent assisted us immediately. Went in to replace an old s5. We didnt want any upsell and thats what we got. He also found us a better plan to be on for about what we pay now.
The store is well organized and clean. The staff here is amazing. No question of problem is ever too small or important for them to assist you with. They also try to save you money rather than just up sell you.
Today we stop in to ask a few questions about our phone, I believe his name was Bobby answered all of our questions very nice and helpful to us definitely will be back when getting a new phone
David and the young woman that helped me were the saving grace. I talked to a very rude rep whom I asked a question to because he was stocking the case wall and the case I was looking at didnt have a price. I wont go into details but because of him, if I could give zero stars I would. I was already checked in and being helped but my rep was busy dealing with the computer crisis the store was having. This was the second bad experience I had there in the last 6 days.

I got ripped off in 2011, on my first smartphone. I bought my first brand new iPhone 4 and they sold me a refurbish. The phone was a piece of junk, it delete everything on my text messages and pictures by itself. That was the last time I bought a phone at the Merrillville Verizon store. 😡😠

When i walked into the store i was greeted by a young man & signed in, the store was very clean and very few accessories were missing ( i work at a cell phone store myself) where i got upset is when i watched the young lady (African American woman with big hips) assist another Customer instead of me while i was sitting down waiting, (yes the customer was white) i just felt as if she basically skipped me because she maybe felt as if i was fraud or whatever I’m not sure But ok whatever there is another rep that i can clearly see that has become available YET again walks in another (White) customer and instead of just singing him in as they are supposed to do he hold a 5 min conversation with him about his reason for coming in as if i wasn’t sitting here REMIND YOU IM NEXT lol. This Verizon is a joke and racist please do not go here if your BLACK!!!!!

I came in with a problem with my Samsung Galaxy S4 (knowing that it is now considered an older model) as something was severely eating up its storage space after deleting nearly everything off of it. I had the LCD screen recently replaced by a third party, and the manager was very quick to blame me for the phones current problems by seeing someone other than Verizon to replace my screen. She tried messing with it herself, while constantly looking around at everyone else and not even paying attention to my phone or me as the customer for that matter. She was quite rude especially for being a manager -- you know, someone in charge to look up to. She eventually passed my phone to someone else, and he honestly made the experience a million times better. Bryan was fantastic. He looked at my phone for every bit of 20 minutes searching for what could be eating up my storage. Needless to say, he found out that my phone had two different softwares trying to operate at the same time -- clearly something that required time and effort to find, and something that I did not mess up with a screen replacement. The manager was of no help to me, but Bryan really showed me that this store needs employees like him. Although I was eligible for an upgrade, he didnt shove that down my throat and really focused on just fixing my phone -- the only thing I truly came in to the store to do. If it wasnt for Bryan, I would give them a rating of two stars. He really deserves five stars himself.
Switched to Verizon recently after having been with a big name competitor for 10 years. We are very happy with the service and prices with Verizon, and the staff at the store were absolutely fantastic when we made the switch. We spent well over an hour there getting 4 people from 2 different plans switched, and they were so patient in working with us and were great with my almost 2 year old toddler. Definitely recommend Verizon, especially the Merillville location.
Went to switch to my wifes plan. Sales associate made me sign a contract without options saying we can change it after you sign. Turns out you cant and we spent 30 minutes with customer service support on the phone before the manager came over to tell the associate they cant switch it same day and apologized to us. Ended up going home and just doing it ourselves online.
Terrible. I called Verizon to upgrade my plan, they deactivated my phone and couldnt figure out how to reactivate it so they said I had to go into the store. I went into the store and they more or less told me I was out of luck and they couldnt do anything to help me. So in my effort to give them more money for an expanded plan, I ended up with a dead phone and theyve basically told me Im on my own to figure out whats wrong. Pretty terrible experience all around
This store should be closed by Verizon. As a 20 year Verizon customer, I was ready to go to another carrier after dealing with this store. We went in to purchase a new phone for my wife and to find out what it would cost for me to change my number to a local one since we just moved here. After two hours of sales pitches and numerous attempts to push us into more costly services, during which time I was actually getting physically ill from the process, we walked out with a plan that showed our next bill being nearly twice as much as our previous bill. We had to make two more trips back to the store to get a sim card put in one phone, and try to get out of the hum service that we couldnt use due to the port it has to be plugged into being used by another device. They werent about to let us do that and said we would have to pay a $50 restocking fee even though the box hadnt even been opened.Fortunately, we had a customer loyalty phone number for Verizon, and when we called Verizon, they apologized repeatedly for the treatment we received, credited our account for the $50 and gave us the address of the next closest corporate store, so we wouldnt have to enter the Merrillville store again. AVOID THIS STORE! ! ! We returned the hum device at the Schererville corporate store and were treated in a much more courteous manner.
The sales people do not go out of their way as they used to. They assume everyone should just know what to do. I bought a new phone yesterday and spent a lot of money. They do not put themselves out at all.

The staff are trained in sales, but do not know anything about the phones they sell. You have to know your product in and out, and I do not see it here. If a customer knows your product more than you do, than thats a problem. Also, when I had a problem with my phone, through the years, they always completed a factory reset and it never fixed the problem. I ended up doing research, and fixed it myself everytime, because the IT person here was clueless on how to fix the problems.

Illogical, ignorant, poorly trained, recalcitrant. After wasting time with the obnoxious woman at the store, I accomplished everything I needed to do with Verizon by phone in about 5 minutes. Verizon themselves confirmed that the store staff was ill informed.After my experience, a lady friend related to me how she had bought and returned a phone to this store within 14 days and she paid for incidental calls during that period satisfying the terms of the return policy. However, the incompetent store manager neglected to cancel the contract. It showed up on her credit rating. She is non-confrontational, but they should have been sued.

I have been using prepaid services for the last 4 years! I enjoyed 80% of my services from providers like metro, flash, straight talk, and etc. The problem was my phones were not lasting. I have went through at least 6 phones with metro pcs within the last 2 years. They offered to send me a free phone and give me free service. But since, I take care of a lot of business, then service is key to me.Im new to verizon, I dont work for them, but since they are known for having the best services and own lots of towers, it make sense to try their services.I pay a hefty price tag for my phones and services, but hey, who ever thought that talking would cost you over 300 bucks a month? .Not me, but hopefully the price add up to the service. Lets see.

I was in the store later in the day with only one other customer. Sales employee came up to me and started to help me. I told her I was in for an upgrade for my phone, and tablet. She helped me for less than a minute and began carrying on a conversation with other employees who were just standing around. After waiting around for her to come back I said out loud Thank you for the help. and walked out.. Awful!!

The general manager for this particular Verizon Wireless store did nothing to assist me in trying to obtain the service for the phones that I needed. All he could do was phone in customer service for them to tell me why he couldnt help me.
Tried to return my new phone and was told I couldn’t...no mention of 14-day return policy I later found in my electronic agreement statement. By then it was too late and although I called customer service, the store wouldn’t even honor an exchange.

We all have bad days but I was met by a very disgruntled lady that did not even want to listen to me when I was explaining to her that three separate customer service reps on the phone explained that I could have a Galaxy S8 from T-mobile turned onto Verizon. The rep at the store refused to look into my claims, just told me with disdain and a very condescending attitude, that It cant be done. I later found out that it can be. There is an application process involved, but apparently it was too much work for a paid rep at the store to even look into it, just wanted to dismiss me completely.Verizon, in general, does not have a customer first policy anymore. They used to have VIP offers, like free phones for loyal customers that are in good standing; and now they offer a huge mark-up to us. I can get a phone cheaper from the factory than I can from Verizon, whom Ive been with for over 11 years and have paid close to $20,000.00 for service.They are the most expensive network, and lately they really stand out as being the greediest.
