I actually liked the decor and the casual, contemporary feel of the place...theres lots to like...but our experience was less than optimal...smoke alarms kept beeping loudly on our floor as early as 3 am and continuing into the morning in different rooms on same floor! We got very little sleep that night (10/23-10/24/21)... Brought the matter to the attention of front desk staff twice who promised to discuss it with management but we never got any kind of resolution, not even an apology unfortunately...little details were missed such as a leftover container with food spilling out right where the elevators are, remained there for over a day until I mentioned it to staff...the smell of vomit on our floor was noticeable twice...felt like we were back in our college dorm...I would stay here again but I cant say that my experience was the best...I never post reviews but I couldnt figure out a way to contact management during our stay about the concerns
We really liked this place, the staff were very professional and nice. This place was exactly what our teenagers wanted, definitely has that young and hip vibe. Had music, a cool bar that gave you a complimentary drink upon arrival. The only small critique would be for them to have all three pinball machines working. Other than that 5 stars all the way! We will be back.
The room and experience was good but the service was slow and sometimes unresponsive. I would stay again though. It was right near Beale street. Awesome spot.
Positive: Everything! The customer service was A* and the general manager went out of his way several times for us along with other guest. The hotel was just absolutely unique, clean, very cool ¿. Hats off to your owners & staff In every way! Thank you Negative: Nothing at all - we will back with friends!!!!
I had a great stay here! I would recommend it and look forward to staying at a Moxy again.
This place is wicked awesome. Its fun. The rooms are fun. Staff is great!!! My only input would be for the bar to up their drink mixing capabilities and this place would not only be a great hotel, but a solid place to just hang out.
I love the hotel it was different and in a good location. The staff was great and very nice the beds slept good the room was very nice. I had a wonderful experience 😊I will be back and the food was to die for..
The location is great for downtown resturantš and bars. Very close to Bass Pro and easy to get to from I 40. Easy walk to Beale Street and other eats and drinks. Friendly staff, from check in to valet. Walk in to their bar/ registration desk/ lounge area. Comfortable room, a bit small with no desk and one chair. Small bathroom. We did not go to Memphis to stay in the room so it was good.
Positive: Whew child.... where do I start? Just stick to the Marriotts on either sides of the moxy. But I did LOVE leaving to NEVER return to this fancy TRAP motel. Negative: I took pics. Dead or dying plants on all floors getting off the elevators. Dirty showers and sinks... the shower had brown smudges and hair. The sink... lordt! Stay clogged! It had short curly hair and one long strain. The rugs in the room was obviously n
The location was LEGIT. We were able to get access to scooters quickly and get around. The hotel staff was super nice and I love the ambience. It was cool they had games in the lobby you could play and offered comp cocktails. That Old Fashioned is way too sweet BTW. The room was nice, the vibe is minimalistic and trendy. It was hot AF overnight and when we had the air as low as it could go. When we called the front desk they said it is summer so I guess dont book in summer maybe if you need air to sleep.
What a great boutique motel? Yes I will stay again.
Shoutout to Kat (cat?) and Matt. We stayed 3 days with Matt at the front desk every night. He was very nice and explained everything in detail while dealing with phone calls, the bar, and customers checking in. Kat did the same, she helped train a new employee (who was also amazing) while working the front desk, working the bar, and being personable with anyone who walked in the door. There were several other staff members who deserve recognition that I did not get the name of, but everyone at this hotel works hard while being short staffed. I wish the best for all of them because they are wonderful people.
Very good place. We stayed a few days and all was good.Only problem is parking. Too few spots. If coming back late, they may try pointing you to lot a fair walk away...dont want to walk around downtown Memphis side streets late at night. On a bonus note, I wish they had EV parking and chargers.
Very hip and cool! Nice vibes and the room are pretty. Nice strategic location downtown as well
Great location. Great service. Love the decor and vibe of hotel. Gym is great. Music is all around and rooms are hella dope.
The rooms are minimalist with a comfortable bed and big TV but not much more. There was no hot meals at the hotel but the bar is nice. Parking is a challenge, but they do offer valet parking sometimes. You are off Main so there are a lot of eateries close by.
Very cool and eclectic hotel. You literally check in at the lobby bar, and the same person prepares the food and snack you can order at the bar. Rooms are nicely appointed, very smart design. Strongly recommended for folks looking to stay someplace different than your usual hotel rooms. Ill come back.
The staff are very nice and helpful. Wrote things down for us to do and where to eat. Fun atmosphere. Complimentary coffee. Just overall cute spot and great location! They allowed our dogs 🐶
So it’s funny, I LOVED THIS HOTEL SO MUCH. SO MUCH I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH! However my husband hated it 😂. Let me explain, he travels for work often and to him (a creature of habit) they don’t offer the business amenities that he so craves and desires that are part of his routine. But we’re on vacation... well he’s working still... but nevertheless! The hotel is freaking gorgeous. Every nook and cranny is filled with life and comfort despite the pandemic. The lobby is fun and kitschy and even our 3 kids loved it. The location is perfect too! Breakfast menu is small but delicious! Also I love how they were able to use every single small space in the smaller rooms and create functionally. Highly recommend if you’re a traveler!
Great experience. You have to stay atleast 1 night. Great location. Great vibes.
The front desk staff wasnt very friendly or helpful. We asked for room service multiple times and never received it. I also had to deal with an unauthorized charge, made on my card days after leaving the hotel. Not likely to visit another Marriott hotel for a long time after this one.Edit to the owners reply:*cleaning service. Was this reply supposed to make me more upset? Because congrats, you did it!The nerve to reply to my terrible stay with, Oh we dont offer food, go to the bar. Good to know you keep the same amount of rudeness online too. Staying away from Marriott like the plague now, thanks!
Cute! Barebones but loved it. The staff was great. Convenient location.
Different style of Marriott. Definitely not a negative. First room assigned was occupied, filthy, and smelled of a weeks worth of nonstop smoking. Second room given at least had a clean bed and clean towels. I had to clean the sink and shower before using. The only perk is they give you a free watered down alcoholic beverage.
Great concept and vibes! The staff were extremely nice and accommodating! The rooms are very minimal and chic at the same time. Shower is gorgeous and the MUK products throughout the room are to die for. It is right next to the trolley tracks but they have complimentary ear plugs to help you get a good nights rest. The bar staff was very nice and attentive and the drinks were really good too!
One word would describe it ghetto, our room had no tissue and we had to go get our own from downstairs or the staff closet. The bed feel like your sleeping on a clot. Its broken in and badly needs to be replaced. The room is the size of a very small small studio apartment. The AC made a loud noise as if its charging up. $25 dollars for parking otherwise you park down the street. Your free drink at the bar you get the choice out of 3. There was a long blonde hair in our bed and clearly its not mines. The shower leaked so much that it flooded the bathroom.
Definitely catering to a specific demographic. However, room was fine and staff were friendly.
Overall, I feel like the Moxy is great for young folks! The bar is awesome and the hotel overall is perfect for Instagram photos. I took off a star because I feel like comfort is sacrificed in order to make it look cute and hipster-y. Especially when traveling, I would rather have a nice bed with a good comforter than a modern/hipster looking room. I would probably not choose to stay here again but I know that others would typically love it!
Awesome experience with great entertainment and a super interesting atmosphere would definitely go back
The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff there was amazing! Fred at the front desk was amazing!! He went above and beyond to make our stay there pleasurable! The location was good and the atmosphere was great! Thank you again for everything!
The hotel is very nice. The front desk guy was very pleasant and welcoming as well. The rooms are very clean and the location is everything.
Had a fantastic stay. Check in was so organized and quick. Our room was awesome. Clean and so comfortable. The use of space is brilliant. The shower was spectacular. Even used our vouchers for cocktails. Great sitting areas and bar service was excellent. Location was great. Definitely would stay again.
I took my boyfriend here to celebrate his birthday for one night.....and I’m ashamed that I didn’t choose a longer stay. I love everything about this hotel, except the parking. But honestly, the $25 valet parking was worth it since it was extremely cold. This was the COOLEST hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Most has definitely changed the hotel game with this atmosphere. I loved the vibe, the drinks from the bar were phenomenal & we loved chillin in their basket swings. The customer service was excellent as well! I recommend paying for the valet & enjoy the convenience of having it. We will definitely be back!!
If you understand the hotel concept and have your expectations set appropriately, you and your guest will have an enjoyable stay here.Crumbs on the floor wouldnt usually bother me a whole lot, the cleaning crew Im sure have a lot to deal with during the pandemic. That being said, between that and an issue with the valet I had to remove a star. The staff I dealt with was polite and professional. They didnt do or say anything about my status but did give me a slightly better room after I asked if anything was available.
Convenient to Main Street. Rooms are simple but clean and eclectic. Valet staff is great. Didnt get towel refresh when requested however and can hear the craziness of Main street at night. Room didn’t have microwave or fridge. Two free drinks was nice touch.
Amazing hotel, such a cool vibe, rooms are very unique and clean loved everything about it we stayed one night this past weekend, they have valet parking or self park which is one block from the hotel, make sure you enjoy the fire pit as well, we didnt get to use it because we didnt know they had one.Definitely recommend it and I would come back!
Not bad, but. . . Broken door lock. Tiny room.
Very let down, I booked this place for a cool unique stay for my moms birthday. Very rude service, I questioned how much a room upgrade would be and the bartender said expensive, and didnt give me any options. The complementary drink is actually a free shot or 2 dollars off a drink. When showing the bartender the video of being greeted with a drink, the girl said I didnt make the cards. We tried to use the gym that said open 24/7 and it wouldnt open and bartender said he closed it. So I will not be returning, VERY let down.
Its a good environment for the younger people, not good for sleeping. It was quiet til night then you can hear the people up stairs and next to you. The valet parking took forever also took 25 dollars to park. Like I said good for the younger crowd only. The coffee not good either. I recommend to go some where else for coffee.
Awesome location! Friendly staff, cool decor. Pinball machine and board games are a bonus. Clean and modern feel. Highly recommend
Its a budget hotel, but still nice and worth a stay. Rooms are compact, but clean. Staff is super friendly which makes a huge difference. Walking distance to Beale Street stuff (you know, when COVID is over and its a thing again), right in front of the streetcar, and right across the street from a small little park. Would be willing to stay again if I was in the area.
The staff was so sweet . Me and my cousin purchased a room here to take some photos . We had a spider in our room. Mabey it came in on one of us . We called the front desk and this young lady did not mind coming and getting rid of the peasant. I appreciate that so much . Also this hotel smells wonderful. As soon as you walk in the smell created a vibe and it was a good one !!!
We decided to stay here for an staycation. This hotel has a unique vibe and we were not disappointed. We stayed in a simple king-size bedroom. The location is great. The hotel has some amenities in the lobby. I definitely recommend it.
Limited valet parking. Had to park down the street for more than valet.Hip hotel with fun bar.
Funky and great drinks! Most happening lobby around.Long walk to Beale street but trolley out front 🎷👍🏻
Positive: Stylish, clean hotel. 2 free drink vouchers. Good location, not the closest hotel to Beale St but only a 12 min walk. Friendly staff. Negative: Rooms are nice but small. No in room fridge or microwave.
Very chic, unique spot. We enjoyed our stay. Nearby parking was reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly!
You’ve probably never stayed in a Moxy property before, although it’s quite possible you have stayed in this property when it was a different brand. It was pretty good then, but as a Moxy it is light years ahead of its previous state. This place is hip and chic like no other spot. Lobby is so fun; loved the vintage pinball machines. We each got a complementary drink token for a signature cocktail which was nothing short of delicious. Food and bar here are astounding, Id visit just for that alone. I can appreciate the green initiative featuring reusable pump soap/shampoo not only in the shower but also at the sink. The shower was a work of art in itself, having a separate wand and a one-way mirrored window that looked into the bedroom. Rotary styled phone was really cool and I thought the option to press a button for pre-recorded bedtime stories was pretty clever. Room contained largest flat screen TV Ive ever seen in a hotel. The design of the room is just extremely thoughtful. I like that there are no dressers or chest of drawers - keeping the space of the room efficiently used (who actually really uses those?). I could write a whole book about how cool this property is, not to mention the location is awesome, right in the thick of beautiful downtown Memphis on the water. Best thing I could recommend is checking this one out.
The Moxy downtown Memphis is just a walk away from many restaurants and Beale St which makes this location great to stay, not to mention the chic couture that you walk into. This Moxy is quite smaller than other locations I’ve visited in the past. My only issue was valet and check in and check out. Upon arrival I waited almost 10 minutes without someone asking if I needed help and when I checked out the staff wasn’t there at all. The valet seems as though they don’t have a smooth system for bringing cars in and out. Overall the stay was good.
This hotel is nothing more than an experiment by Marriot to see just how much they can get away with not doing. Avoid avoid avoid
A little to hip for my taste, but a cool spot for families with pre teen kids as there was a ton to do in the lobby
The Moxy Hotel in Memphiss Downtown Riverside area, is conveniently located providing a cess to many things. The Moxys are a different type of hotel, a swanky vibe without the expense. A minimalist approach, without having to do without. It is a very fun and upbeat experience, if your up for it. The staff was friendly at the front desk / bar was very accommodating. Valet Parking makes it easy in and out, after a long day of traveling. The stash closet is a god send if you forget anything at home, but want available yet at this Moxy. But grab a guitar off the wall and entertain the other guest, while killing time in the main lobby. Lots of games, music and ways to enjoy your time there. Watch the trolley cars and horse drawn carriages go by.
I dislike writing negative reviews, but I feel it is warranted in this case. Attempting to check in to the Moxy last weekend, there was ONE person working the counter. One. And this young lady was checking people in, answering the phone, escorting patrons to the storage closet AND TENDING THE BAR at the same time. She was in an impossible position. It took 30 minutes to get to the counter to checking for my reservation. Check-in time is supposed to be 3 pm, but at 6:30 pm they did not have a room ready for me, and told me it would be a 20-30 minute wait before a room was available. I cancelled my reservation on the spot and walked out. The woman working at the front desk was polite and professional, and I thank her for that. She was doing her best in a lousy situation. This appears to be way beyond a bad day situation. Whether they are that short-staffed, or that poorly managed...that is a serious problem.
Staff was nice but I HATED it!! Over priced. Parking is blocks away!! Loud music all night cant get any sleep! This hotel is definitely for teeny boppers with the decor and the loud music all night. Ugh! Wasted 300+
A great stay for location in downtown. Loud during night time so suggest grab a pair of earplugs (complimentary). “Loud” as in people coming in after a fun night speaking with outdoor voice thinking everyone wants to hear their conversations from hallway, lol. Shower handle kept detaching from nozzle, bathroom sink filled up in an instant when washing hands or face, TV/internet was in an out for a few hours. Really cool hotel idea with the games, pinball machines, free drink tickets on check-in, and staff was friendly and welcoming. On-site parking, too. Overall, enjoyed my stay.
Nice boutique hotel, everything ala Cart after room fee, we enjoyed it, good location, close to Beale street
Loved the experience. Wouldve given it a 5, except the small things were missing. Like an ice bucket, a microwave
My qualm isnt so much with the Moxy as it is with the valet service provider they outsource to. Read below:I arrived in Memphis for my second stay at the Moxy on Saturday, July 3, 2021. I arrived at 1:00p CST and began unloading my vehicle in the valet service area where I exchanged dialogue with valet attendant, Derique. I initially parked and unloaded my vehicle in the valet service area on the curb, just before the hotel entry door and told Derique I was going to secure my dog and luggage in my room. He acknowledged my communication with him and instructed me to pull my car even further into the valet service area behind a white BMW sedan. Upon doing so and checking for his approval of my vehicles new position, Derique said I was good so I left my car running for him to valet/park as I did during my previous stay at the Moxy (Fall/Winter 2020) and all other valets Ive used before in the past where valet immediately occupies and/or secures your vehicle.I came back downstairs at approximately 1:15p CST and saw that my car was not in the valet service area, so I assumed Derique had parked it (as I expected). However, upon waiting outside for 10-15 minutes for Derique to acknowledge me and retrieve my vehicle, he just kept looking at me and walking back and forth between other vehicles. I assumed he was too busy to acknowledge or assist me so I went back inside and asked another valet attendant to retrieve my vehicle; however, he said my car keys were not in their designated safekeeping area. I then assumed that Derique must have held onto my keys since I spoke directly to him about coming back downstairs in a timely fashion, so I asked the other valet to retrieve my keys from Derique. Thats when Derique advised he neither had my key nor moved my vehicle - and I realized that my car had been stolen.Upon confronting Derique about my vehicle, he stated he saw my car drive off, but failed to mention that to me when he saw we standing outside in the valet obviously waiting for my car for 10-15 minutes. Derique was very dismissive when questioned by MPD Officer E.S and me. Prior to police response, he even taunted me by laughing, smiling, and waving at me and my cousin as I sat in her car waiting for the police to arrive. The surveillance footage from hotel cameras showed Derique walk away from my vehicle (left running) after I went inside the hotel. Moments later, an unknown subject walked across the parking lot directly to my vehicle where he noticed it was running, got into my vehicle and sped off. Due to it being a holiday weekend, I was unable to secure a rental car through my insurance to get back home to Arkansas that Sunday, July 4th, and had to spend money I didnt plan on spending for another night at the Moxy (my cousins apartment community doesnt allow dogs). I paid $250+ the first night and $150+ the second night, in addition to being out of a vehicle, and the trauma that came along with my car being stolen 15 minutes after arriving at the Moxy - revictimized and severely inconvenienced.I was and still am extremely disappointed in how hotel management, while the manager was nice enough to secure and share the surveillance footage, and valet treated me as if it was my fault that valet didnt properly tend to my vehicle. The only apology/complimentary service I received was a replacement bar drink voucher from the front staff since I didnt get to use my vouchers my first day due to the incident transpiring. I didnt use the second set of vouchers either because I was so distraught about being stuck in a city at a hotel I no longer felt safe at.I do not plan on staying at the Moxy ever again and will work towards some person or business entity being held at least partially liable for the neglect that resulted in the theft of my vehicle.P.S. Responding police advised car thefts involving valet were becoming increasingly common in that downtown conglomerate of hotels.Nice hotel, but no thanks.
What a cute hotel! A different vibe from your normal hotel. They were lacking on some amenities due to covid and the water was not drinkable at my time of stay in all of Memphis so no ice machines 😒 yay. Although we did receive a complimentary cocktail upon arrival! The room was so cute and functional. It was a small room but very spacious with all the hooks on the wall and the collapsible table. Our room had a view of the park. We brought our dog so the park was a perfect place for him to do his business. I would definitely stay here again. Bed was firm with some softness to it. Location was great, Easy to jump off the highway and then back on. Great stay!
Had a great stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Place was nice and clean.
The room was good but it didnt have a microwave or refrigerator in the room and being charged for handicap parking
Coolest hotel that I have been to lately and Matt at the bar is a first class host....
Its just ok, you can hear every little conversation in the halls and no real place to work except on the bed. A more reasonable chair with and small desk or place to put a laptop is what I recommend. Self Parking is $20 charged to your room. I personally dont plan on ever staying again when I come to Memphis.
Fun and funky little spot. Great location and drinks were good
Beautiful hotel and the staff is very nice I recommend to stop by for a vist
Love this hotel. very stylish & clean. the vibe all around is amazing. surprisingly affordable as well. my favorite part is the food & drinks. matt, davion and ryan were all accommodating & courteous. drinks & food were delicious. the location is perfect, most definitely will be back. thank you guys!
The gray cover on the bed smelled bad but everything else was perfect, especially the complimentary drinks and esthetic.
Love this place, has a cool lobby and their little signs have adorable messages on them. Pin ball machine in lobby. Rooms very cozy, shower is cool has a little window u can peep in and out of looking into the room. I love the foldable table because it doesn’t take up space it hangs on the wall. Cozy bed too
Service is nice and the building has a good vibe. Only one complaint and they handled it beautifully. Very calm environment.
Love staying here when in Memphis. Cool little hotel
Fancy, clean and comfortable 😃The location is very good, just in the city center, very convenient to attractions.Surprisingly, the place to check in is the bar at the same time. After checking in, two free cocktails will be provided, which is very delicious.By the way, the receptionist, Jade, is very “powerful “. She was doing several jobs, check in, mix cocktails and answer the customer questions, and doing very well and kindly to everyone. The boss should provide rewards for good employee.🤣
Great location and helpful staff made our stay!
Amazing. I stayed in room 254. What kind of mattress is that? It was sooooooooo comfortable!!! I would really like to know.
Great stay. I wish the extra fees didnt add up so quickly. Wonderful decorating.
Super cute hotel. Most definitely has an at home feel.
We really liked it. I wish the 3 places where towels, blankets and sundries had been stocked. There is very little light in the room making it very difficult to read or work.
Love the atmosphere! Very convenient. I will definitely book with The Moxy again
Moxy feels comfortable but different
Awesome hotel. Just know you will pay an extra $25 for valet parking.
Very friendly and helpful service from the doorman to the front desk to the people cleaning the rooms. Fun games in the lobby and a free well drink at check-in. Room was a little small but that was what we expected. Nice gym with a stationary bike that was a real bike. Short walk to Lorraine Motel and Central BBQ. Id stay again.
Nice but Small Room .. Water Is Hot Hot .. An That A Great Thing ..
Awesome wonderful place to eat and good people
It was cool. Good coffee.I had a business meeting there. Google maps make its hard to find the place. Youd have to drive up coming from front street. It tried to get me to drive on main.
Nice chic hotel... shower could have been cleaner.
Very unprofessional staff, fully vaccinated and still requiring a mask tried to cancel our reservation finding another hotel!
A Nice clean environment in the heart of downtown Memphis! The front desk worker was very friendly and helpful!
Very nice and clean. Staffs are very kind. Definitely come back
$18 for two drinks. there was little to no alcohol in one of them. high class establishment or somewhere you take your kid’s baseball team after a win? i’ll let you decide. 1/5 would not recommend.
Cool very modern hotel. Great customer service and great location
Nothing to complain about. it has a cool feel to it. i can see why they have a lot of great reviews.
Great stay in a modern hotel. The staff is great as well.
Very nice, clean, excellent service, great, very nice place security peacefully
Really loved it here! Stayed for 1 night in a small king bedroom. Even tho it was a small room the space is very well designed.
Beat hotel in America! The rooms are fixed as if Ikea sponsored them! Absolutely amazing! High recommend!
