My vehicle has been dealer kept all its life, but when it developed a safety issue Pep Boys got me in fast! I especially appreciate Sandra, who is very knowledgeable, no nonsense, fair and confident in her field. She helped guide me through the process with having my front end repaired and took the time to explain thoroughly exactly what needed to be done! I was so impressed with her that I actually decided to buy a set of tires after the repair! She made sure the tires would be appropriate for my needs AND within my budget! While waiting for the initial service, I had the opportunity to wait in the lounge and observe her taking care of other customers and I was amazed at how well she was able to interact with her customers, so many of them were demanding and rude yet she kept a smile on her face and continued to be honest and fair with them! You truly have an asset in Sandra and I will continue to come back based on the way she treated me and others! I hope to update this review once my ongoing repair issues are completed.EDIT: Jay was the service person that handled my warranty work on the front end and new tire installation. Although he didnt have my appointment in his books, my tires had in fact arrived as scheduled and he honored my appointment.The installation was FAST!!! So fast that they forgot to put my wheel center caps back on properly!!! I am missing one and one is loose. New appointment now and will update with details.The saga continues...😳

Jay and the Pep Boys team in Manchester saved the day for me and my family! I had just bought new tires one week ago and come back from a hike with my wife and two-year-old to find a FLAT TIRE!!!Turns out it was a piece of razor blade (just my luck) and that meant I needed a new tire. We live near Boston so we couldn’t make it home. Jay made sure we’d leave with the right tire and also checked on our warranty status. A fellow dad, he knew that safety was the top priority. He didn’t want us leaving with any concerns.I’d recommend this Pep Boys location to anyone in the area or someone like us who was just in town for the day. Most places would’ve turned us away on a Sunday a couple hours before closing. Not store #0849. Thanks Jay!!!

The Manchester location is AMAZING!! The customer service is exceptional from EVERYONE that works there. I have an awesome experience every time we visit! I wouldn’t go anywhere else!! It’s also always so clean and kept up, the bathrooms are always clean and stocked, the waiting room is neat and tidy and the working areas are always organized and clean.

I am writing to recognize an overwhelmingly positive experience which I recently had with the Manchester New Hampshire branch of Pep Boys. The employees in this location went above and beyond to help me in a situation that was dire. I will be eternally grateful for their help, and I am now a committed customer to the store.Last night, on the way from Massachusetts to meet a friend in Manchester New Hampshire for dinner, I suffered a flat tire. The tire went flat on the highway, and I struggled to get the car off the road to a safe place.Bear in mind that this occurred on a Sunday night at approximately 5:30 PM. When I pulled off the highway, I managed to make it to the closest tire store, which was a Firestone branch. Unfortunately for me, Firestone did not have the size tire necessary for my vehicle.By the time Firestone informed me that they could not help, it was after 6:00 PM. I began frantically making phone calls to other tire vendors in the area.I was incredibly fortunate to connect with Josh at the Manchester Pep Boys location. I explained my situation to him, and the fact that my car was no longer drivable. I told him that I would need to get a tow truck to bring the vehicle to his store, which was located about three miles away.I was aware that Josh’s store was scheduled to close at 7:00 PM. I called AAA, and was informed that a tow truck could not possibly arrive by 7:00 PM. In fact, the tow truck eventually arrived at 7:25 PM.When I spoke to Josh about this, he said, I will be here. Don’t worry about it.I called Josh two more times to keep him updated as I tracked the tow vehicle progress. By the time the vehicle made it to the Pep Boys store, it was after 7:30 PM.Josh and his cohort, Carl, cheerfully greeted me when I arrived. They quickly and efficiently diagnosed the issue and replaced the flat tire. In the course of doing this, they noticed that another one of the tires had a sharp piece of road debris which had punctured another one of the tires. Josh showed me how the second tire had been damaged, and although it had not gone flat yet, it was very unsafe to drive. I quickly agreed to replace that tire as well.I was incredibly lucky to meet Josh and Carl last night. They both went above and beyond my expectations for assistance in any retail situation.

They do quality work on your vehicle, but are not great at customer service, and the waiting area is hot and uncomfortable, no longer providing even coffee or water for free. Perhaps they will make aesthetic improvements as they transition to an all servicing station and phase out the retail store (too bad).

I wish I could give it zero stars but My brother Went in for state inspection and they claimed that the lights were not aligned and that the brakes β€œneeded to be adjusted in the front” in order to get a sticker but when asked to show me physically with my own eyes but the car was already β€œpulled outside” when I walked around before coming in the car was still in the bay and then you had all the workers doing absolutely nothing throwing a football in the garage doing absolutely nothing and I know for a fact that before that car was brought in everything was checked before hand and was perfect while my brother said he didn’t have enough money to fix β€œthe problem” they kept pushing him even though he didn’t have enough to fix it and him not knowing much about cars ended up paying for a service I know it did not need avoid this place at all cost they are dishonest and will do anything to say β€œyou need to repair this” when most likely you don’t and they want to make a commission off of you especially when it’s slow

They installed a new battery without checking the alternator so i broke down for the second time in 1 day. Now I need another battery installation to replace the alternator because of their mistake. Dont let these people mess with your car. I basically paid $160 for nothing! And I had to pay out of pocket for another tow.

I booked an appointment and during booking informed that I would wait. It was for a simple tire install and balance (I already had the brand new tires) I get to my appointment time and the rude guy at the front desk says it’ll be two hours until we start. So I said well I made an appointment for a specific time because I have my 3 year old with me and let you guys know I’d wait, his response- well you can wait but it’ll be over two hours. Ok so what’s the point in booking a time slot if you’re not even going to start at that time slot. That’s the whole point of booking a specific time. I left, called VIP Auto down the road, booked a time and guess what- they took my truck at the time they said they would! Will not being going back to Pep Boys again.

I brought my car in for an oil change scheduled maintenance over a month ago and when I picked up my car there was a crack in the windshield. I contacted the manager, as directed by the employees who were there that day. I was told it was submitted to the insurance company but I have been waiting for a response ever since. I have called several times to check in and am told each time that they have not heard back yet and they will check on it. I am not sure where the breakdown in this case is, but I do know that my windshield needs to be fixed and I am getting frustrated waiting. I have contacted customer service and filled out the survey have not heard back on any of this. I have seen Pep Boys respond to other people’s reviews and I am more than happy to revise this review once my problem is solved but I don’t know what else I can do to get this taken care of. I have been coming to this Pep Boys for several years and until now have been very pleased with the service.

For me having a car in New Hampshire for the first time and getting it inspected was a nightmare. Had to leave my car for several hours, I have never heard of this kind of thing pertaining to getting a inspection sticker. Long story after not passing due to tinted glass and headlights supposedly had to be adjusted. I returned to this location twice before getting the passing inspection sticker. After returning home noticed that they didnt take off the old old? I dont understand is it just me or what???☹

I had been putting off getting my valve stem fixed and coming here was super easy! I booked online two hours ahead of time, got there, explained my issue, and gave them my keys. They diagnosed the issue, the solution was easy and they changed my air filter, too. The crew was my favorite part, good-hearted guys who made my wait all the better with lively conversation. This place is skeevy about how they charge you. Make sure to check your receipt. They have some β€œfree calendar” that they quickly scan without your knowledge or permission and attribute that to a discount on your oil change, but looks real sketchy on your receipt, and if that’s the case, for these prices/scams you’re better off going to a dealership. I’m also not the first person to notice this either because when I asked about it they said, β€œHere we go again with the calendar”. On top of that, their service manager, Mark, is walking around talking with people and hovering over me to explain the receipt with no mask on in the midst of a pandemic. Steer clear folks.

Honestly this place is a joke. I get my car towed Thursday night for brake issues, Friday I call them and they have no idea what car I am talking about. I try to explain and then suddenly they can’t find my keys, a four hour car drive later to try and find my spare they still haven’t found it, the manager tells me to relax and have a drink. Two different tow truck drivers come on site try to get in my car and tell them to look in the drop box. Lo and behold where’s the key? Bottom of the drop box. Days keep passing every time I check in it was always sure to be ready the next day. A week later finally they say it’s ready. I come and get my car the battery is dead and I’m expected to wait for them to fix their mistake, the tow company was quicker to help me start my car. Honestly the worst experience I’ve had in the past 6+ years of me being a vehicle owner.

Noy and his crew treated me with such respect, I am glad to tell everyone about this place. I got my new tires put on last week, and they accidentally cracked a wheel skin made for my vehicle. He stated he was gonna replace it, and he did! He said he bought 4 of them so they all looked brand new! He didnt charge me for the others, and I am so incredibly grateful for this gift!! Some of the worst service I’ve ever had. I took my car in for an oil change at 10, and decided to hang around because oil changes don’t take long at all. Finally at 11:45 I had heard nothing about my car and I look into the parking lot and it’s in the same spot that I left it in almost 2 hours prior. Went up to the front desk and asked where my car was and they scrambled to go get it and bring it in before I could take my keys back and tell them to not touch it. Needless to say I will not be bringing my car back here and I don’t recommend to anyone if they want efficient service.

I’ve been here quite a few times since I started driving 7 years ago and I swear no matter WHY your car is in there they will find a laundry list of things wrong with it. I’m pretty sure if you drove a brand new car off the lot and straight over here and asked for an inspection they’d fail it and hand you a fix list that equals about $150 at LEAST. I just happened to be in the neighborhood and figured I could get my inspection out of the way since my car is in perfect condition and shouldn’t fail. Of course they failed it 😌also told me it would be $40 for a new cabin air filter. I almost laughed in this man’s face. I’ll be taking it somewhere else to get my passing sticker. Avoid this place if you don’t want to get ripped off.

I got a flat tire that I needed repaired immediately so I could get to work the next day. I was very pleased when pep boys said they could fit me in that day to put on all new tires (my car is all wheel drive so I couldnt replace just the one). When I spoke with the sales associate over the phone they told me the tires were on sale for buy one get one free so each tire would come out to $50 and my total would be $291. I immediately got to the store and between the time I arrived and checked out, the same person changed the price 3 times and I ended up paying $346. When I checked the receipt I paid $75 per tire. But I was desperate so I didnt think too much of it. The next day my tire pressure light came on, I thought it may be the temperature change so I filled it, it continued to go flat every 3 days. I brought the car back into Pep Boys for them to repair the tire. It took the 3 hours to repair the leak and when I picked up the car there was no stem cap on it, I had to go in and ask for one. Again I let it go, small mistake. The next day when I was on the highway going about 65 miles per hour my car started shaking aggressively (it had never shook before). At this point I didnt trust Pep Boys to fix my car on the third try so I went to Tire Warehouse. They checked the tire and they had filled my tire to 55 psi which should be at 32 psi and the lugs werent tightened. The employees at Tire Warehouse were mortified and said they could fix it for me. They rebalanced every tire and said every single one was out of balance by a lot. The leak that they had fixed on my second visit was not fixed correctly so it was still leaking. Im just thankful that my tire didnt blow up when I was driving on the highway with it filled to 55 psi. I do NOT recommend anyone risking their safety by letting Pep Boys put their hands on your car.

I brought in my vehicle to diagnose a recent issue. I did not have an appointment and I could tell it was busy as they were working on a number of vehicles. I spoke with Joe and he was happy to take a minute to understand my issue. Joe was able to diagnose and repair my vehicle within a reasonable amount of time despite not having an appointment. He was able to get the job done while prioritizing other vehicular needs as well. Affordable and quality work in a timely manner. Cant argue with that.

This review is a little late but this past October I had great customer service from Pep Boys. After being quoted extremely high from another car shop for very little work, Pep Boys gave me a reasonable quote for much more work. The car has run GREAT since, they had me in and out very quickly and treated me extremely friendly. In addition, they have mailed me coupons which I plan to use next time something pops up. Very happy with the service here, have recommended others to go here and will be coming back.

EDIT - the manager understood he was understaffed and took a substantial amount off of my total bill. 5 starts because he did what was appropriate to keep a customer.Original:An appointment means nothing. Useless. Made an appointment at 9am and was here on the dot. Was told 3 hours to have tires mounted an balanced. The employee comes out to me 8.5 hours later and says β€œthey just have to mount and balance your tires, you’ll be out of here by 6”. 8.5 hours and nothing was done. I scheduled an appointment for a state inspection at 12:00pm today using the online system. I was pretty excited they had the time to fit me in at 12 because I needed to do this during my lunch break from work. When I arrived at the service desk, I was greeted by Melissa. She was very nice, but asked me when I had booked my appointment because I was not on her list. I told her that I had made my appointment around 9:00am; I even brought the confirmation with me just in case something like this happened. Melissa told me that they would not be able to do my inspection for at least an hour and 40 minutes. I was shocked! I asked why that would happen if I had scheduled an appointment. She told me that the online system just sees that they have 11 bays open, so it allows people to schedule anything during that time frame as long as there is an open bay, but the system doesnt understand that they only have one inspector, that he is busy with other inspections, and will not have time to get to mine until 2:00pm. She asked if I wanted to wait, but I told her that was not an option since I had to get back to work and I had no other way of getting back to work without my car. Melissa did offer to schedule me for an appointment tomorrow and guaranteed that the 12:00pm appointment would be mine. I did schedule the appointment because I need to have my inspection done, but I wish someone from Pep Boys had called me to let me know that the inspector would be busy. From what I can gather, the online booking schedule was not checked from the time I created my appointment to the time I walked in the door. If they had checked it, I would like to think that someone would have called to let me know that there was going to be a delay with my appointment. I am hoping my appointment goes smoothly tomorrow, but for now I have to rate my satisfaction as a 1 start.

I keep going back here because its cheaper than the dealership, but honestly this place is a mess.A few years ago, I had a routine state inspection done here - they told me all of my rear lights were out (which seemed improbable since Id just driven back through multiple states the night before) but everything else was fine. A week later I went back to have them look at the front end because of a grinding noise, and twice they found nothing. A week after that, my drivers side brake pad flew off while I was driving.Several months back, I ordered tires and had them installed here because they had the best price. Made my appointment...was called to come in an hour or two earlier than the time I selected, so I did...and then had to wait nearly four hours just for tires to be put on. They said they couldnt find the tires I ordered even though they were in stock, and then when theyd found them...I guess they just got to it when they got to it?When I left, theyd left greasy paper mats in my car and the tech obviously had grease on his hands when he was in the car, but stuff happens so I didnt think too much of it.Now, Ive been sitting here over an hour waiting for a simple state inspection...and they havent even pulled my car into a bay yet. When I got here at 1:45, there was one person waiting. My appointment was for 2pm. Its now almost 3:30 and I was just told they havent gotten to it yet because theyre just so busy.I understand that things happen and perhaps theyre understaffed, but why am I making an appointment to sit here for over an hour without anyone even moving my car into a bay? Why not just tell me its going to be a while and they may not get to it for an hour or two? Why not tell me hey, we know you made an appointment, but appointments dont matter here so well get to it when we get to it?Im giving them two stars because the service desk employees are mostly pleasant and polite, and their prices are decent, and thats about it.

I made an appointment a week in advance with a guy over the phone from this location for 9am, 1st thing on a Sunday morning.I showed up on time with my vehicle to have 4 new tires. I got an Uber ride home because I figured it would take a couple hours. I called at 2:30pm to find out the status & the guy said they were still working on it. I called back at 5:30pm because I knew they were closing at 6pm & I was put on hold for 5 minutes, I then called back & I was told they were still working on it. So I said, should I expect it to be finished by the time they close because I need the van to go to work in the morning. The lady said sure, come on down. I get here & its still not ready & they have closed the doors. It is now past 6pm & I still do not have my vehicle. I only had 4 new tires replaced! Im astonished at this place! I would never recommend this place, even to an enemy!

Lets just say I should have checked the reviews first. Made an appointment online early this morning for a state inspection at 4 oclock. I dont have a lot of wiggle room in my schedule and I need my car because I travel for work (cant drop it off), so I was happy to see they had appointments available. Like others, I arrived early to my appointment and was told the online system does not communicate with them and he would not even be able to get me in today. It would have been nice had someone notified me prior to me showing up because I could have made an appointment elsewhere to get it inspected. I understand that places get backed up, but I shouldnt be finding out that an appointment I made at 8 in the morning for 4pm was no longer available when I arrive. Thats a long time to figure out that it wont be possible. If the online system doesnt work...why does it exist? Its beyond frustrating for the customer and I am sure it isnt much better for the employees. You are also losing business because of it. Additionally, maybe there should be more than one guy working on inspections on the last day of the month? Im sorry I wont be returning because I had a much better experience a few months ago with new tires.

My husband and I lost a wiper blade while driving on the highway in the rain just now. He says Well stop at Pep Boys. He used to come here all the time before we moved. Sure enough, he comes out with a very nice young man, Conor, who proceeded to put on some beautiful new wiper blades. Conor was really nice, really polite, and well spoken. He even called my husband sir. What a great experience! Thank you!!

These people are the worste my appointment was at 9am it was 11:15 with just two people ahead of me with oil change and customers told me they got there at 8 am for a oil change and they still had their cars on a lift with no oil change .. never again and never got my service done . The so called mechanics dont even know where they are doing back there walk-in around standing group up under the cars just talking milking the time.

Very clean store. The recent change in the layout is interesting, but seems to be working for them. Almost always have what Im looking for in stock. Hopefully the brand of LED lights changes because the current brand (Pilot) doesnt last very long under normal use. I could advise on somethings, but Im not qualified for it.

Dont.I feel bad for the mechanic.So I called Monday, made an 8am appointment for my breaks to be done.I clearly asked more than once will I be done by 10?Ohhh yes most definitely! No problem!I show up at 7:45 and so doesnt 2 other people.Come to find out we all had an appointment for 8.Listen friends, there is only 1 mechanic back there.Why in the heck do they schedule more than 1 vehicle at a time for a mechanic?!1 Person can not fix 2 or 3 vehicles at a time.This is how mistakes happen, this is what drives good employees out, this is how bad reviews get made, this is an issue.2 of the 3 of us made our appointments over the phone.The other person scheduled through the website.There is a major disconnect here.

Made an appointment a few days before to get an oil change.Come in early and they tell me about an hour. I left for a little bit to go shopping while I wait about 40 minutes I come back and they have not even started on my car yet! Now Im waiting and its been almost about an hour waiting for my oil change.I am on lunch st work and I never expected to have to wait so long . I came here expecting it to be quick and easy, guess I will stick with Valvoline.

After purchasing a used vehicle from Auto Drive One in Saugus, Ma. and having a 30 day written warranty for any repairs needed I had to used Pep Boys because this is who they had their corporate account with. After finding out from Luke that the car needed 4 new tires plus front and rear brakes he was only able to get 2 new tires and the front brakes authorized by Auto Drive. Luke went above and beyond what the definition of good customer service is all about. He knew my car would not pass inspection yet his hands were tied. When his manager Joe stepped in and realized that people and their safety meant more than the almighty dollar, my car got 4 brand new tires. The rear brakes were not as much of an immediate issue that needed dealing with that day. Luke and Joe restored my faith in humanity and I am a Pep Boys customer from this point forward.

Absolutely awful. Had new tires mounted on Nov 15th, on Dec 4th one came off of the bead due to improper mounting while driving down the highway completely destroying the tire. Pep boys stated they would replace the tire after several phone calls back n forth. They supposedly ordered the tire twice now and yet I have to call every other day to see if its in as they say they will call me but never do. Its been almost two months now and Im still driving around on my spare due to the incompetence of the managers at the Manchester, NH location. If you need tire service, go somewheres else, avoid this place! Just awful customer service.

Decent.EDIT: My previous review was caused by frustration that Pep Boys was out of the particular car battery I wanted. Not their fault really. It was winter in New England, and thats just how it goes.On my next visit, I actually had terrific customer service from a very professional and helpful rep. He was friendly and helped me out.

I usually never write reviews but I feel like this time I had to. It took over an hour to do an oil change and replace a light bulb. Are you kidding me.... that’s absurd. After I saw that my car was done and being pulled out of the bay and parked, I waited for a couple minutes thinking that they may have neede to do something else, 15 minutes passed and I go to look for the guy that was supposed to give me my key back, he’s EATING HIS LUNCH right where I can see him, you think he would’ve told someone to finish the sale and give my key back but he didn’t. I then waited at the desk to ask someone for my key back and they were a little busy so I waited to approach the desk. An employee then kind of angrily went over to a different computer, pulled down the sheet with my work order on it, and kind of assumed that that’s what I was waiting for. Told me the price, and that was about all he said to me. This was probably the most absurd trip that I have ever had to pep boys. Don’t waste your time here.

Went in for an oil change to pep boys and 2 weeks later my check engine light came on. I brought my car to a local, reputable auto repair shop (not pep boys) and it was 2 quarts low and the mechanic said it looked like the oil was never changed. These kind of places (pep boys, valvoline, sears, etc.) purposely short customers on oil to save money and their mechanics are not qualified to even change a tire. They also use cheap, recycled oil. Do not go to these places if you care about your car!

Made an appointment over a week in advance to get new tires put on my car. Called to confirm the day before and was told my appointment wont be honored because they are short staffed and overbooked. They werent even going to call us to tell us. Shop elsewhere because we will be.EDIT: Received a phone call and Im still not thrilled. Was basically told the same thing. The online scheduling system is messed up, they are overbooked, understaffed. None of this should be my problem as a customer. I was offered a Friday appointment but my original appointment was a weekend, which I needed. I dont feel like they offered any real incentive to give them another chance, so I wont be using Pep Boys. Id rather pay more to go to a reliable business that keeps their promises.

Auto repair shops are notorious for bad service. I had a good experience at the Manchester (S. Willow) Pep Boys--I had rear brakes replaced (audible wear indicator) plus an oil change and new air filter. The service techs were polite and pleasant, my appointment time was kept, the estimate was followed (no bait and switch), and discount coupons were honored.I am not a mechanic so I have no way of evaluating the actual work but I assume it was competent. And my overall experience was very positive. So I will go back and I can highly recommend this particular PepBoys at least for routing service.

Its a great alternative than going to the dealership. These guys are certified and have modern equipment. They are open late and are located where you can shop while you wait. They have earned my trust.
