On April 27th I placed an order for a drop leg holster from Safariland on the Mad City Outdoor website. It showed in stock...this is important to remember. these days I dont buy anything that is not in stock for the exact reason that I am writing this review.I received the package in JULY! It had been so long that i actually forgot ordering the item. I called them to return the item since i had already bought a holster from a reputable online store. I was promptly told WE CHARGE a restocking fee and you have to pay to ship back! These clowns took 3 month to ship a product that they represented on their website as in stock, so not only was I charged a restock fee, but I had to pay to ship item back.Horrendous customer service.Oh yeah; its the end of August and I just now got the refund.I spend a great deal of money in these types of products. They couldve had a long term customer.Mickey Mouse operation.

Wouldn’t recommend ordering from this site. I have responded to my confirmation email multiple times as well as sent an email to the sales email they listed on their website about my order. I also called and left a voicemail about my order because they said they would respond to those. Haven’t heard anything back and they still haven’t shipped my order. Took my money right away but won’t send the product. I asked for a refund and haven’t heard anything.

Like a lot of other 1 star reviews….paid for 2 day shipping, received the order a week later. Paid $9 for shipping a $3 item and it took a week to receive it. Waste of money. Several attempts to reach the company have gone without answer. Terrible customer service. Take your money elsewhere.

I ordered snow shoes 2 months ago - they were over $300 and the description said they would ship in around 2-3 weeks . However they have not been shipped and the order says still in progress. I have emailed the company 3 times and have had zero response. I like to support small business but a response is literally the least they could do. Please contact me or refund me. I cannot recommend this company at all due to the lack of contact - they do not care about their customers.

My experience with MC Outdoor Gear is mixed.If you are looking for the best price for certain products and don’t mind a wait, then this is a good outfit to work with, for the most part.I ordered Snugpak items from them based on price. Their website was upfront, in stating that items will be delayed 3-13 days before shipping. I was fine with this, understanding that the items are from a UK based company.In my case it was 15 days before I got an e-mail indicating that my items were “finally shipping” and that “tracking information would be provided soon”. This I found to be a bit misleading. Someone reading that would be lead to believe items were packed and being sent that day or the next.Three days later I e-mailed to ask if the items did indeed ship, and when tracking information was to be expected. I received a replay only stating that I would get tracking info in 24 hours. This translates to the day after tomorrow, when I received notification a label was created. So, time frame from notification that my items “were finally shipping” was a week later.So, I ding them on misleading communication. In the time I placed my order I also placed orders for camping gear from Finland and the UK. Both arrived before my items from North Carolina.With that being said, I’m happy with the pricing and the products. I just wish the communication was more “honest” and “clear” on timeframe. I was willing to wait. I just wanted to know honestly, what time frame I was looking at.So, good products, with good prices. But expectations of knowing real time lines should be set low. Buy, if you want good prices and are not on a hard timeline to get items before a trip or something. If you can afford to wait, I’m not disappointed in price or product.

ONLINE BUYERS BWARE !!!! Received my order over four month after purchase and agreed to compromise on a style other than I originally had selected. Yet the item I wanted was and still is listed on their website stating that it’s available. Shame on me for not requesting a full refund back in February. Waving the $8.00 overpriced shipping would have been a nice gesture and gained at the minimum an additional star. Go ahead and reply with a lame excuse but this is a result oriented world and you failed miserably. I take solace knowing I’m not the only customer you’ve done dirty but do hope I am the last and that you sort out these repetitive patterns of poor business practice. I can not speak for in store interactions but as of yet they just aren’t prepared for modern day commerce.

This place just to moved to Raleigh at 5301 Capital Blvd. one of the coolest places I’ve visited in a long time! It has supplues for all kinds of outdoor stuff and law enforcement, supply, prepper gear, camping supplies and even long term food.

I ordered a pair of snowshoes. Now I am aware of the national shortage of snowshoes and don’t blame them for the delay in shipping. My problem with the company is that they said they would ship me a refund check, but I never received one and have yet to see my money back (that is in January I cancelled and asked for a refund) and It is now 6 months later!! I’ve emailed them repeatedly with no response (I’ve checked my junk mail). This was an expensive transaction and I’m incredibly frustrated by their lack of communication. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE! They’ve literally STOLEN MONEY from me! Terrible reviews aside from mine prove that this company isn’t reputable.

There was a big shipping delay due to Covid but Mad City stepped up and did all they could with an overseas manufacturer to make it work. Tasmanian Tiger is an awesome product so it was worth the wait. Only constructive critique is Mad City just stuck it in a shipping bag without any protective wrap of any kind around the product. That didnt make any sense and made you wonder if it was going to be in good shape. Fortunately it was, but it could have been a better presentation of product to the recipient for $300 plus bucks. Would buy from Mad City again but hope they improve their game.

Hours posted aren’t correct, and can’t find a phone number to even get in contact with anyone. Nothing on their website indicates whether or not they’re actually open. Drove 20 minutes for a whole lot of nothing. Don’t waste your time

I purchased a Bushnell micro reflex sight from Mad City. Their prices were great, and the staff was helpful. But most of all, I would give Mad City top marks for communication. Bushnell was late sending Mad City their allotment of these sights, but the staff kept me informed all along about the status of my order. If arrived very carefully packed and was in great shape.

Placed an order for a tent. Waited over a month and a half for shipping confirmation and updates for my order and was told they are just waiting to receive my product. Never received my order from them. Could not call and talk to representatives had to email them to cancel my order. Would not recommend ordering from them.

I had bought these before, and after a fire, needed to replace them. They are very good at filtering out anything that could make you sick. Make sure to get replacement filters too, as you dont want to get to the point you need them and dont have them.Mad City was awesome. When they had a small problem with getting an order filled by the distributor, they contacted me and let me know. They emailed me again when they got the shipment, to let me know that it was on the way.You cant fault a company because they havent gotten a shipment, and these people really cared enough about my order to let me know exactly what was happening, and kept me informed all the way through.Thank you Mad City for your amazing customer support, and the forethought to contact me with the details.I think that is all anyone wants...to know that the people you are dealing with care about your order, and you took the extra step of making sure I was in the loop. o7

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!Shady practices of listing items as ships in 3-13 days but you can pay right then. Then the item never ships. I ordered in February and still havent gotten my order fulfilled. When emailing the customer service they say its a manufacturer issue not theirs. Why the heck list an item for sale when you dont have it in stock. Take peoples money but then dont give them the items. You are loaning them cash basically. Wouldnt be surprised if something bigger and shadier was going on.I want my money back !!!

I had a great experience with my first order. There was a delay in shipping and customer service sent me a very nice email apologizing for the delay and explaining the reason for it. Everyone is experiencing shipping delays these days and its nice when a business lets you know so you arent trying to figure out what is wrong. Communication means a lot. Placed an online order over 30 days ago and still nothing shipped. After about 15 days they stopped responding to Emails. Definitely do not order from them online.

Bought a ton of the 27 inch bandannas when my city passed its mask mandate. some of them showed up super fast, some took awhile. i imagine with the corona virus having the nation in face covering they have been difficult to keep in the store. wonderful product, spectacular price . i am more than pleased.

I ordered item online from august and until now they have not delivered. Also be wary..some of their info are the same with a business that had bad reviews and closed out. I will be cancelling my order today as i got the same snugpak item from a different business..2-3 weeks ago i had to remind them that there was no update on my order page..same thing today..please refer to photos..i also had over 11 email exchanges with them..one of which states that having an f rating with BBB is fine with them.

However, the customer service from this company has been more than excellent. Due to Covid they were many delays that were out of their control, they made numerous efforts to keep me informed on the progress of my order. Edit: After about 2 months I received my gear. Yes it took a little time but if you just wait and tough it out, you wont be disappointed. Couldnt be more happy with the quality of my plate carrier. False advertising, never actually send products

I ordered on September 26, 2020 and I got it on October 16, 2020. It definitely took a while because they had to order from the manufacturer but communication was consistent and direct in letting me know the status of my purchase. Totally worth the wait!

Easy to order. Then within a few days the order was delivered. The product itself (a baseball cap) was very good quality. Thank you so much.

Arrived intact and promptly. Great price for the 5-gal True-spec water bags that will be used to transport extra water from site to site. Has not leaked for 5 days filled which is awesome. The 2 adjacent handles make it easy to manipulate when using when completely filled, although trying to carry with one handle is pretty scary and not sure if it will hold up over time when needing to carry 2 back and forth. Also, would have preferred if shape would hold more as water is used, but this is a function of being a collapsible bag. Placing in a hard cardboard box temporarily solves problem. Overall, a good collapsible water jug so far!

My vest was received promptly I believe faster than other companies predicted or suggested. It fit just how I wanted it to fit and the construction was durable and perfect so far. Just what I have been looking for.

Product arrived when scheduled and as described. The Belt keepers are a nice quality leather with a nice decorative stamp that almost resembles a basket weave. The set I obtained are a chocolate brown with brass snaps. They will go well with any chocolate or dark brown rig.

I ordered a drop down holster in multicam through this company and told them I needed it by a certain date. They reached out to me to let me know they were going to try everything they could to get me my item before my deadline, and they did just that. Ordered a gun holster over a month ago.have not heard since about anything.

I ordered a holster on 10/10/20 and paid for priority shipping. It’s now 10/21/20 and it has not shipped, nor have I received any response to my inquiries. These guys seem to be running a scam and hiding behind Covid related excuses. Ridiculously bad customer service. Spend your money at honest businesses.Now the owner has responded with lies. I would not have ordered anything that was out of stock because I needed the holster last weekend, that’s why I paid for priority shipping. What you did is called a “bait and switch” and it’s what con-men do. I specifically looked for in-stock items and only after I ordered was the 3-13 day delay mentioned. Also, why take the time to lie to customers on the internet instead of resolving the issue? Here you have a great example of what this business’s priorities are.

I ordered a vest from Amazon and it turned out to be way too small for my size. I found Mad City and the Condor EXO II Large/ X Large plate carrier and knew immediately its what I needed. I originally ordered a black vest but was told they didn’t have them in stock and that it would take at least two weeks to get it in. Being impatient and not wanting to wait, I asked for my order to be changed to the navy blue one they had in stock. Not only did they take care of this on a weekend, they also responded within half an hour of my email. The vest was shipped out a couple days later and I received it within a week. The vest is PERFECT! I’m 6’3 290. It covers my entire front and it has plenty of room to spare in the cummerbund. I’m more than pleased with my experience with Mad City and the Condor EXO II plate carrier. Would highly recommend to others.

I ordered some Christmas gifts from MCOG on November 22. I thought even with a delay in shipping, I should get them on time. Wrong, the 3 to 13 day window passed, then they estimated 7 more days, than they change the ETA to Jan 7th not to ship to me but for product arriving to them from manufacturer. Thier shipping estimates are exaggerated just to make the sale so if you need the items in a couple of months, dont order from them.Update: Its Jan 9th, and the ETA of 7 January is still the same. Will I ever get the gifts I ordered? To be continued, i ended up getting a refund. I requested refund and they refunded me the same day.

I ordered on 3/14/20, and because of c19 I didn’t receive my order on time (just got it a few days ago), but the customer service was very good, and I was always answered when I asked questions on the order.... I’m not 100% happy with the choices I was given (I don’t like spicy and 2 out of the 4 entrees were a spicy chili) I got beef stew, sloppy joes, spicy beef chili and spicy turkey chili, but the extras that come with seemed to be good choices so that’s a plus. All in all I’m happy.... I forgave the very long wait time because of c19, and the good communication.

My dry bags/backpacks arrived in good condition, & on time.I already have one that is a tad larger and I love it. It does a great job of keeping the water out and holds quite a bit of gear.

It is now 4/10/20 and after repeatedly reaching out inquiring about my order only to get another excuse, apparently now the order is cancelled because I guess they cant deliver. That refund had best be in my bank quick. They have wasted enough of my time. They are intentionally selling items that they clearly do not have the ability to get out to customers. They also do not bother with reaching out to customers providing updates. Over a month only to be told to F off is no way to run a business. I suggest that you continue searching and order elsewhere that is more reputable.

I ordered 2 items on 10/15 and they were showing in stock . I received and email a few days later saying one is out of stock but did not say which one and it would ship shortly. Since then I have sent 3 emails with no response and have not received anything as of 11/13 . When I login to the account it still shows unfulfilled. The items were TRU-SPEC H2O PROOF GEN-2 ECWCS PARKA and the matching pants. I placed negative reviews on their website which were removed only showing the positive reviews. Edit 11/22/20 at no time did I request a cancelation and my order was refunded on 11/17/20 4 days after I posted the negative reviews on their website. If the emails were going to my junk (which they are not) I would have never seen the original payment confirmation or the email telling me one item was on backorder or the 2 auto responses saying thank you for submitting a ticket.

I was told that they didnt have the order item stocked. That seemed weird. But when it finally did come, it was the correct item and packaged well considering the nature of the item.(edit- so,my latest order is a month late. This is the second order that was out of stock. I will pay extra to get my item sooner from another seller, next time.)

I ordered a snugpak tent from them online in august. Until now the item has not been delivered. Be wary of this company as they have same business info of a shop that closed down. Also i was able to get the same item from someone else..i will be cancelling my order today...i had over 11 email communications with them..i also did a bad review on normal google reviews and i attached some pictures to prove how bad it is.

Im not sure what everyone’s problem is. Maybe they’re just used to being pampered but I didn’t have anything worthwhile complaining about like some of these other Yelp warriors. I ordered a Blackhawk cobra belt for work. The item was on back order but after a couple of weeks I reached out inquiring about shipping status. The same day I heard back with a nice email informing me of the back order situation and the assured me they were working the problem. Couple weeks later I had my belt as promised. Not anything worth getting my blood pressure up for. Points for improvement would be a more accurate inventory availability listing or preemptive emails when items are on back order but considering all these belts are on back order, I’m not the least bit disappointed. Do what you want but I’ll choose to support small business whenever possible rather than lick Jeff Bezos boots and help him snuff out small business.

I love these oversized bandanas! I have worn bandanas for decades during workouts and as an eye covering to sleep. These are large enough to wear as a mouth and nose covering. So happy I found Mad City!

I was quoted ITEM WILL ARRIVE IN 3-13 DAYS nowhere on the site does it distinguish if its business days or otherwise either case they are well beyond the quote time as this point. Throughout this venture not once have they reached out to me with a status update on both occasions I have had to reach out to them and its the same answer the items are onback-order from the distributor and we are waiting for them to come in look Im not an unreasonable guy, hell I work in a retail setting myself so I understand with everything going on with Covid slowing things up...trust me thats not the issue, my problem is that if you already knew the items in question were back ordered then WHY MAKE THEM AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE AS IF THE QUOTE TIME STILL APPLIES or if its going to be delayed then YOU NEED TO LET THE CUSTOMER KNOW PRIOR TO PURCHASE!!!!! A simple disclaimer would suffice so that consumers may adjust their expectations accordingly. Im giving these guys until Thursday 08/06/2020 if I dont get anything updatewise Im cancelling my order and taking my business elsewhere.

Pants fit great! Great quality material feels very durable. Looks great too.

Took some time for my order to get fufilled (8+ weeks), but I blame COVID for that. Regardless, Mad City was very responsive to all my emails and inquiries, and handled the delay much better than other vendors have when ordering gear from them. Would order from again.

Even during this time of crisis the customer service staff was absolutely helpful quick to respond and very informative will be ordering again

Probably the best after the order follow-up I have experienced. The tracking was almost to the minute of delivery. I was very please with the product and delivery. It exceeded my expectation.

Wheres my Snugpack Jungle Blanket, Mad City? I paid on July 22 for priority mail and still havent seen anything (Aug 10!), not even an email update about shipping. And I have to download an app just to track a package?? Why cant a human being just make sure I get the product I paid for in a reasonable amount of time?? UPDATE: After an email follow-up they have finally (Aug 14) processed my order. But they are still charging me $8.31 for priority mail when no one processed the order for well over 2 weeks. Very unsatisfied. Should have checked Yelp and BBB reviews before doing business with them.

I ordered two Condor Contractor hats on 10/03/2020, The item showed to ship between 3-13 days. This led me to believe that their processing time was longer than most, not that the item was not in stock. I have never shopped from this company before so I am not aware of the nuances of their stock as it is displayed when you order an item. When it showed that the item will ship in 3-13 days, I assumed it was in stock. Typically an out of stock item or a back order item states out of stock or back order. I was explained that in their terminology when it shows that an item will ship in 3-13 days, its on back order. Needless to say well past the 3-13 day window I still hadnt received any shipping information. I reached out and got a reply stating that part of my order shipped. I inquired about the second half of the order, and they replied stating that they mistakenly advised me that part of my order shipped. I was told that no part of my order has shipped and it is not close to shipping. I was finally told that the item is on back order, and that the manufacturer hasnt shipped any. The company is somewhat responsive, but are illusive in their actual stock quantities and arent as truthful about shipping time. I was look elsewhere if possible if you can, before purchasing items from this store.
