Stop by here for lunch while I was on a field trip. The food was delicious! I got a quesadilla it came with a pickle. So many different sandwiches you can choose from. They serve ice cream too. You won’t be disappointed!

This is a great spot for lunch or ice cream! Their meat and cheese selection is wonderful. They have very fair prices, personally I think they are better than most cheese shops in Madison.

Best ice cream in Madison. Service was fast and friendly. You can get a good variety of different ice cream flavors and soft drinks including kombucha. The ice cream is house made and heres a little terrace to sit outside to enjoy it.

One of Madisons hidden gems. Tucked away in the food science section of UW campus, it can be a bit hard to find, and parking is sparse, but it is well worth it! They serve Babcock ice cream, which is absolutely delicious, and their sandwiches are great as well. I usually go for the Bulky Badger and a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Highly recommended.

Never a summer without hitting the union since I was 18...and each time was a stop for orange chocolate chip Babcock ice cream. Now I order 3 gallon tubs of the stuff from good ol Babcock Dairy. Simply the best.

The best ice cream I’ve ever had! Not impressed with their team or service due to covid protocols and lack of information on menu but the ice cream was definitely worth it! I tried the union- fudge and caramel weren’t frozen and was a delicious treat!

Not as creamy as in the past, not much flavor - just not the same as it used to be!

We love Babcock ice cream. Union Utopia, chocolate peanut butter, and chocolate chip cookie dough are some of our favorites. 25 minutes maximum meters make it more likely that you can find a spot, then in the past. A yummy treat for sure. They also have kids cones available for under $2, for kids only.

Delicious, creamy and decadent ice cream. The chocolate chips in both the mocha macchiato and Badger blast were dark chocolate and incredible. Relatively low prices as well, a regular with 2-3 scoops is just about $3. Really awesome ice cream!

SUPERB local ice cream, this shop has a wider selection of flavors than youre likely to find in your local store or supermarket, and also has on offer a good variety by the scoop in bowls or cones. When my partner and I did a taste testing of all the local ice cream makers, it was in our top three; which were Sassy Cow Creamery, Babcock Hall Dairy, and Chocolate Shoppe. Each of those earns five stars *****

Great little spot for a quick lunch. Has some fantastic sandwiches (personally recommend the buckingham) and ice cream for dessert. The price is reasonable for a college student too. A small amount of seating is indoors and there is one table outdoors.With any sandwich you can add on a drink and chips for the same price as a drink.The rest of the building has some interesting posters on the wall that tell of the history of the building as well as how they make their milk products.

Really great service and great food

I make my own ice cream, and with that in mind, the flavors in this ice cream tasted rather fake. They also use many added colors and stabilizers, as laid out in the ingredients on their website. I did buy one of the flavors that used a more natural stabilizer (grapefruit sherbet), and the texture was quite smooth, but overall this is a product that I would not purchase again.

A couple of years ago I went here with my child care group. They were so friendly and nice. They showed them around, where the milk came from and then they got to eat some ice cream. Very fun field trip if youre in the area.Outside of that...I love their ice cream and so does my family. We make a point of getting Babcock ice cream whenever we can. It is so good and the selection cant be beat either.

This place has some of the best, creamiest, tastiest ice cream I have ever had. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. The seating area could be better and lines can be sometimes long. Top quality, good price.

They have standard flavors and then special flavors and I still have not decided my favorite. They actually sell cheese, sandwiches, etc that are quite good. The small size of the ice cream is 2-3 scoops, and it can be multiple flavors with no extra charge. I recommend getting it in a bowl because it can get messy fast when using a cone. Hot tip: go upstairs to see them actually making ice cream and other dairy products.

I found out about this place on Facebook I told my husband about it and he didnt even know it existed we stopped by took a tour of the dairy area where they make their own milk and ice cream and cheese we then stopped at the store to buy our own cheese has been got a sandwich he said it was really good will definitely be back again if were in the area

Babcock ice cream is great. Its worth the money you pay. Babcock Hall Dairy should sell their chocolate milk and not Kemps chocolate milk. I reduced a point because of this. Every tourist should visit this Ice creamer.

Always a happy place for me to return to. I love this ice cream, and taking my daughter there for the first time was truly special. The students are always very kind and professional.

Babcock Hall is a Madison gem. They just won 3 ribbons for their cheese at the Green County Fair! Romano, Gouda won first place. They have many choices sold so inexpensive why shop anywhere else. They have so many sandwich choices along with at least 4 soups daily. JustCoffee is a must. Great flavored tea, try the cherry pomegranate. Of course the ice cream is incredible. Chocolate Peanut Butter, Strawberry, to name a couple. Cookie dough and many other choices. They have ice cream pie. Forever floats. Open until 4:30 during the week. Come soon, get your cheese and ice cream. Oh yes a new sundae monthly.

Love the ice cream here. We visit this place once a month for a treat. We go after work and the lines are sometimes pretty obnoxious. But in the winter its a little better as no one wants ice cream when its below freezing. Though I always thought it just helps the ice cream last longer!

I had an odd request when I went into the shop. I needed 5 malts to take to my sons family right away. The shop was extremely busy but they moved as fast as possible. All the working students were friendly and courteous. They even went in the back room to find a box that I could carry the drinks in.We used to take that son and my other son to the shop back in the early 80s!!!

Ice cream is great. We ordered chocolate and mine was called Union Utopia which was vanilla ice cream with swirls of peanut butter, caramel and fudge.

Ice cream here is excellent, but they also serve many lunch and breakfast items as well. Soups and chili are not to be missed. Taco Salad lunch special is a favorite. Student staff does a great job.

This is one of my favorite breakfast places in town, and one of the best sandwich places, too. The coffee is really good, too, using Just Coffee beans. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito or the Bulky Badger sandwich.

Great ice cream. Okay sandwiches.I like cheese, but usually these sandwiches are a bit cheese heavy for my taste. I will recommend the taco salad though. Be wary of the lunch time rush with no structure for lines after you order to pay for your food its easy to find yourself ahead of or behind the person who ordered before you.

Theyve genetically engineered cows to add sugar to the milk, then they just rest the udder on an ice block. If you ask, theyll show you. Sounds disturbing but the cows love it, and the customers cant get enough. I just made all that up to draw attention to how excellent the ice cream is.

House made pastrami was leanest, tastiest Ive had. Then a cup of house made butter pecan? Whats not to love!

Great ice cream, but dont drive your car there. There is no parking. Go to the store at the Union if you need to drive.

Run by UW Madison students, this is a nice place to get a cheap lunch or ice cream that tastes excellent. The line can be fairly long, especially at lunch time. Note their hours and get there in time to place your order! They also sell fresh cheese at very low cost.

Good ice cream. The sandwiches are decent but all are sickenly cheesy and greasy (and this is coming from a cheese lover). Not very much seating and is always somewhat messy and very crowded during lunch time. Their bulk cheese is good, though a bit pricey. Overall, its a good place to stop by for ice cream during the summer but definitely dont go out of your way for lunch.

Oh my gosh. I cannot tell how much I love this place. I am a student at UW and find it to be the best combination of price, quality, and taste around! Their special the pastrami is my favorite otherwise you cant go wrong with any one of their other sandwiches! Couldnt recommend it enough! Not to mention their ice cream made in house and you can watch it happen!

What can only be described as some of the best ice cream in the world, which does make since given the fact that this is the place where the single grain experiment and the butterfat test first occurred. A must try of the area, and definitely go see the back where the ice cream is made!

If you are vegan you are out of luck and missing out... vegan ice cream tastes like sadness. This place makes my face happy and Im lactose intolerant, so whats your excuse lol.

Quality food - I try to have lunch there whenever the weekly special is the reuben (rotates every 5 weeks), but other food is also high quality. Incredibly reasonable prices and nothing beats the options for fresh cheese, milk, and ice cream.Biggest thing to avoid is going just after a class change when the university is in session, especially either side of noon - lines can quickly grow to 15-20 mins or more just to place an order and the staffing usually cant keep us with this.

An awesome alternative choice for breakfast during the week, especially for srudents. Its close to the engineering campus as well as a majority of Lakeshore dorms. All the food is handmade right in front of you but its still pretty quick.
