What a special spot - I picked up my first speaker pair/receiver here recently. Elton spent almost two hours with me talking with me about my music goals and sampling different combinations to make sure I had the right sound at the right price point. He made me right at home to ask even the most basic questions. It was a great experience and origin story for what has already been some excellent hardware! Another madison gem.

We recently moved to the greater Madison area. I approached Steve with ideas I had for our Home Theater / Audiophile (Pure music listening) within our Great Room. It’s a challenging room .... high ceilings, open balcony, a wall of glass, open on two sides, wood floors, multiple angles. Steve and Chad developed a plan, and reviewed it with us. I am incredibly particular with HT and music quality. I had high expectations and these guys delivered. They incorporated my existing equipment and expanded with new technology and components. The results are breathtaking and exceeded my expectations. It took a while but Chad stayed with it until the results were stellar. Plus the majority of the equipment is either out of sight or integrated extremely well. I could not be happier. These guys have their act together and know how to get results with high end equipment in difficult rooms.

Decided it was time to upgrade my speakers, stopped by University Audio, spent an informative and delightful hour (or so) with Steve, made my choice, and am extremely satisfied with the speakers and with the attention and service received. Not sure what happened with that other reviewer and the dog, but when I was in there today, the dog (a border collie puppy) was sequestered in the back. I had my son with me and he asked to see the dog. They warned me that she was very friendly and might jump up on us, but were dog lovers and didnt mind. Once she was out and got used to us, she was much calmer. The point is, they keep the dog in back and only let her out upon request, so its safe for those who dont like exuberant dogs. Also, I was told that having the dog there was only temporary.As for the service, these guys are awesome! I just bought a home theater receiver and surround sound speakers (not from them), but needed some quality speaker wire and banana clips. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. They looked up my system online to be sure they were recommending the right items for my home setup. In fact, they showed me that I needed a sub-woofer RCA cable I didnt know I needed. I wouldve driven all the way home and realized I didnt have the right cable, and then had to drive all the way back again unless they had pointed that out to me. Yes, they sell high-end stuff, but the quality and service is worth every penny. I will definitely shop here again!

I went in a Monday morning, and Steve Briggs, the general manager, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The store has an incredible selection of high-end audio equipment. I would definitely recommend this store for any audio-enthusiast.

Ive been buying stereo equipment from University Audio since 2003 when I purchased a Home Theater Receiver from Ben. Since then over the years I have upgraded my system significantly and these guys have been a tremendous resource along the way. They have let me borrow preamps, power amps, digital sources and cables to try at home before making a decision. High-end audio can be very frustrating at times and to have a local dealer that understands this and takes their time to make sure youre satisfied is invaluable. Highly recommended.

These guys are the best. If you want an honest recommendation go see them first. Shop around and I guaranty you will be back. While the other independent shops in Madison are reputable (Ive supported most) Ben, Steve & Dave are at the top of my list for educational support.

I was having trouble stripping cable wire to set up my speakers and decided to see if University Audio could help me. They stripped my wire for me in less than five minutes and refused to accept money for doing so. They were happy to do it and just wanted to help me be able to listen to my music. Id recommend this place highly and appreciate their kindness!
