Good market. Fruits and vegetables are fresh. They make quite a few things inside store and all are great like chocolates, freshly squeezed orange juice, cakes, muffins, breads, smoothies and coffee. They also have great selection of seafood and cheese. They will grill fish etc for you and there is a little dining area for eating. Their flower section is pretty good too. Do sign up for their reward system, little bit of work but do get you some discounts. in house which is great

I am typically happy with the selection of produce and various other items in this store. This isnt to talk about how the selection is, this is a comment on employees and the lack thereof consideration for customers. They closed the Gelato station early, never took the sign down that said they close at 7 pm. Left me standing there for fifteen minutes with no mention of its early closure. No sign to say sorry we closed early. Im my eyes this is unexceptional. Rude, inconsiderate, careless employees in the front. Three employees passed me while waiting and no one could help apparently or even say hey, its closed for the day sir. Nothing. Thats poor service.

Today I went in and got the Hawaiian poke bowl. It was the best meal I have had in a very long long time. The man behind the sushi counter and gave me a big sparkly smile and he obviously put that love into the food. So so good. This is one of my favorite dishes and Ill be back there for more and more and more. Made my day! Thank you sushi department at metro market.

One of the best grocery shopping experience Ive had. Great selection for just about everything, high quality products, and great, friendly service. Oh, and they have a cocktail bar to make your shopping experience extra special!

Very disappointed in Metro now that they removed the electric carts from the entrances for disabled shoppers. Use to be 5-6. Have to ask for someone to get one, then it died by time got to meat dept. Only have 2 by Pharmacy and saw no one else using any. Will have to shop elsewhere where they provide better service for disabled customers. I like to do my own shopping.

Grill is never operational maybe once a week this perk no longer exists making it like every other grocery store now slowly losing its edge too bad used to my and my friends go to.

Has very good deli, also large liquor and wine selection. Great salad bar and hot food service. Coffee barista and Italian desserts are excellent.

Metro market is a great place to shop. Reminds me of Kroger and a little of pick and save.

This place would get a 5 star if I didnt have to come back twice just to get service on deli meat. They seen me but didnt help.

This place has been steadily going downhill since Kroger took over. The bar, fun events, fresh selections have nearly disappeared. Today I grabbed an onion and was surprised to find it wet from rotting on the underside. This happened to a garlic last week too but found out after I peeled it at home. Shame to see a great place suck now.

It’s too bad that some employees don’t care what they do, especially younger employees. Today, I went in as I usually do and got some ready to eat hot food items and a clerk managed my needs by placing my salmon and veggies and Mac n cheese in the food container. Good job!To only go to check out with someone picking a her skin to ask me if I wanted my hot food separate. Which clearly I said said yes.The cashier then threw the food, literately threw the food into a plastic bag and landed on its side.Absolutely flip flopping my food and mixing it up!Not only when I said seriously did she say oh sorry and then proceeded to tell me to pay!Seriously? I had no choice but to take it as my card got processed and they had no more salmon ready anyway!Terrible

I also attached pictures of the typical produce quality at Metro Market (which is not great).I love this store. Its not perfect, but there is so much to like about it. People kept telling me, Try Woodmans! So much cheaper! ... well, I gave Woodmans a shot, and I can tell you that the Metro Market shopping experience blows it out of the water.This store is clean, modern, and spacious. Things are laid out very logically and easy to find. It does tend to be staffed by high-school aged kids, but they have all been professional in my experience.Where I think Metro Market could improve is training of their staff. Twice now, Ive found defective products on the shelves. One had a broken seal and was full of visible mold. How did the person stocking shelves not notice this?Other than that, I do find the quality of the produce to be subpar. Things like bell peppers are almost always soft and wrinkly. For the prices they charge (and the image of quality they try to project).. Metro Market really needs to step up their produce quality.Overall though, this is my favorite place to buy groceries in Madison. Yes, its more expensive... but I think it deserves credit for what it has to offer.Edit 12/3Im dropping my review to 3 stars because of the consistently poor quality of produce at Metro Market. Yesterday I picked up a yellow onion and navel orange. The onion was bad (stringy? Not sure how to describe) and the orange had black rot inside of it. Though I do really like the gas savings program they recently implemented/started advertising.Edit 02/07The Taste of the Worlds section has now been completely removed. Metro Market moved almost every product to a different aisle - very few things are in the same place they were. They kept the shelves between the meat and dairy sections, which makes the area feel very claustrophobic.Im very disappointed with these recent changes. I spoke with an employee who told me that Kroger is trying to make Metro Market have a similar layout to Copps and Pick n Save - to make Metro Market more friendly to customers. If you ask me, this is the wrong approach.Maybe I will warm up to the changes over time, but given that Ive had consistently poor experiences with produce quality, consistently poor experiences with product availability (products I want being sold out), these changes are close to being enough to push me to shop elsewhere.

I like shopping at Metro. The floral manager does a great job with the flowers but sometimes can have an attitude of indifference towards customers.

Been shopping here for several months. We love this store and its selection is all great! Great service. Although today we had an off experience in the butcher shop. Walked up to the bratwurst section and a butcher greeted me with a what do you need? No hello. Told him Id like 2 packs of 6 of the beer brats. He just stood there momentarily looking a bit perturbed and then proceeded to package my order. Set each of the 2 packages of bratwurst about 6-8 feet apart atop the meat counter. I said thank you and he just turned his back and walked away. Never asked if there will be anything else and never said thank you. Not a single word after what do you need. Im still giving this market 5 stars, because this was the only odd experience weve had since we started shopping here.

Use delievey alot. Last 3 orders have been wrong. Might have to use a different store.

Everyone here is so nice! Stella was very helpful and Marcelle at Vero was just fantastic! Thank you guys for making my shopping trip more enjoyable. Oh, and the chocolate ganache Bella cupcake from the bakery is worth every calorie!

Stopped by to grab some lunch and it was an amazing selection. sushi, sandwiches, gelato and much more. Very clean place and easy to park. The staff was very nice and helpful. We had a nice conversation with the store manager who was out on the floor working with his team.We had 5 meals for lunch plus dessert for half the cost of eating out and quality food.

Always surprised at how good the things are that I purchase there. The cherries for. 99 A# are amazing. Their sweet Italian sausage is excellent. Nice place always clean and great variety to choose from

You have to be informed about prices here. Its either a good deal, or way overpriced. Further, shout out to the meat department, they do an amazing job grilling and the prices are fair, staff are awesome in all my experiences there.However, I recently had an experience with the hot salad bar dept. that was a bit frustrating. I asked the workers there a few questions and then for some time to think. I discussed dinner options with my girlfriend for over five minutes in front of the salad bar. When we reached a decision, we re-approached the counter, to hear we just turned everything off. They shut down 5 minutes early, all while we never left site of the counter, and the staff knew that we would order from them. They acted as if immediately after their machines are turned off, the food is no longer good. Service like that does not deserve my money.In conclusion, that visit deserves 0-1 star, but all other visits deserve 5 stars.

Metro market is great. Produce is really good and the items in season are always really fresh. Beer selection is solid. Theyre hot and cold bar are extensive if you dont want to cook and the sushi and ramen is also very good. Dont have anything bad to say, I go here more than once a week and its always been an enjoyable experience.

I was just there and my baby was having a meltdown. Your sweet staff member Dexi saw us and unloaded my groceries for me, bagged us up so quickly and brought everything out and loaded my truck for me when I was totally overwhelmed. Thanks so much!

My family really enjoys shopping at metro market. We like the variety of food and all the different. Sections like the hot bar and the salad bar. We also just bought our Xmas tree from there. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!!

The food is quality food. Staff have been more friendly and helpful than other stores. I really enjoy the personal, fast service at the pharmacy. Today, however, we just wanted a rotisserie chicken for a quick fast dinner at around 5:30 pm. There were none and person behind counter said it was going to be 45 min. This does not jive well with the sign posted saying they will have them available or free. We did get a rain check for a free one, but it was a big hassle with hungry kids in tow.

I love this place. They have Kroger Brands and so many great specials. Employees are very friendly and helpful. I have bought different cheeses because they have samples to try. Liquor prices are better than Walmart and such a huge selection of wines and liquors to choose from...meat Dept, deli, bakery all super...you need to get a card to get the good prices but that was do easy too

I just love this market! The produce is fresh, the meat and seafood specials phenomenal, and the food and salad buffets perfect for a quick lunch or dinner. Oh! And check out the juice, ice cream and sushi bars! Its my favorite food store, bar none!

I have been very impressed with the staff at Metro Market. Several time staff has gone out of there way to help me find things, and even further they re-made a cake, last minute, because my dog decided to eat it right before the birthday party! Great staff, great food and great place.

One of the best Grocery stores in Madison. Awesome meats, deli, hot bar and bakery! Their cheese area is second to none. Need a bottle of wine, use the instant chiller to get it cold in minutes instead of hours!

My favorite East side store. Has a huge organic and vegetable side, including bakery, flower shop, eat-in tables with a small bar for alcohol enjoyment! All the employees are exceptionally friendly, and you can enjoy a more traditional grocery store experience on the other side. Takes Fresh Perks rewards cards.

Megan in the bakery is AWESOME!! Every time I speak with her she is so friendly, personable and knowledgeable. Also, love the cakes and cupcakes here. I will go out of my way to pick up stuff from the bakery.

Great selection of produce, meat and products. They have a hot bar and a sushi bar and their bakery is pretty great too. Unfortunately Ive had prices scanned incorrectly on clearance items and the workers arent that attentive sometimes so keep an eye on what gets scanned while youre checking out as weve had multiple items get scanned more than once. Also make sure that you get all your bags as the worker neglected to put one in our cart during one trip. Management was kind enough to provide a gift card for the trouble which is a good indication that they care about customer satisfaction. Good prices and selection so Ill be returning.

Recently shopped here on Saturday the 30th. I was able to quickly grab what I needed and get out the door. The cashier Sarah was extremely polite and cheerful. I will definitely come back.

This is my market of choice. Wonderful service and pre-made meals. The butcher counter has an excellent staff and they will grill meet, fish and poultry for you to eat in or take home at the dinner hour. The selection of grocery items is more limited than at some grocery stores and prices are higher than at the bigger box stores. That said, I choose to shop there for the enhanced service and convenience. The store includes a florist pharmacy, great wine, beer and liquor section, rare cheeses, wonderful bakery and deli counters, sushi bar and many more delightful and high quality services.

This has become our favorite grocery store in Madison. We have a vegan and the rest of us are vegetarians, and it can be difficult to find food thats appropriate for everybody. We also try to buy organic food and have food that pretty easy to do. The produce is fresh and there is a good assortment of products.

Called and ordered a cake ahead of time. They said they would have the cake ready by 4:30pm and I didn’t get there till 5:30pm so they had extra time (and I told them I wouldn’t be there until that time). Come to find out, they NEVER made the cake. I had to dig through the cakes they had sitting there (who knows how old they are) and they were pretty much frozen. Had to wait 30 mins after to get it written on. Never got offered a coupon or discount or anything. Safe to say, I probably won’t order another cake from here again.

I love this grocery store! I went here when I was in a rush preparing for a party and the employees were extremely helpful. A woman who worked there recommended a cheese to buy to pair perfectly with my other items I chose and everyone at my party said I did an amazing job. My secret was Metro Market though, they helped make a boring get together a fun and fabulous party. I was in and out in under 20 minutes!Prices are great and the shelves are always stocked.They have so much in this store and Im excited to continue to shop there.

Since Krogers bought them their selection of foods I like has pretty much disappeared to be replaced with wine, liquor and more expensive items. Theyve stopped carrying the made in Wisconsin brands that I prefer and instead carry out of state brands or the kroger brands.Go support Woodmans instead, a Madison based company that sells Wisconsin based foods.

Prices a bit higher than larger competitors but offers a great and convenient shopping experience.

A bit pricier then most grocery stores but they have a Fair organic selection and I can get my potato lefse bread here. They also have a better salad and General Food Bar then HyVee, a better selection. What they are missing are the organic single heads of leafy lettuces. I dont buy the mixes in the plastic containers.

This place used to be nice to go to, now its just a cluttered mess. Where ever they could fit shelves they did, and either they narrowed the isles, or due to making them taller the feel more congested. This place used to be aesthetically pleasing, and a stress free open environment. Now it feels like Woodmans. I was hoping the new owners would be better, but they ruined what used to be a great grocery store.

Food selection is good. The cashier that checked out my order barely engaged me. She thought is more important to chat with a male co-worker who was standing near her. I will be back when I am in the area. They had a chance to make fan, and blew it!

This place has come close to perfecting the grocery store experience. Their cheese department is amazing. The stores selection is growing every day and they really have a pretty unique set of products. Prices are pretty close to Copps for most departments too!

They have a wide selection of all the modern supermarket amenities. Bakery, Sushi made on site, Restaurant, hot food, Cheese, Deli, etc.As far as the standard parts of the store go, they dont have the cheapest prices when items are not-on-sale. But if you live close by the price can be worth it to be in and home fast.

Sad story. From a great start to below average experience.Couple of years back our family was so excited with the experience of having a proximity grocery market with quality products. We really enjoyed the bread assortments, the cheese palettes, the quality of vegetables and meat and the premium offering in the international segment.We have seen however over a systematic trimming and restructuring of the shop towards a much more common a transformation based on cost cutting, not customer satisfaction. Today it is clear for me that the market is moving towards a pick and save. You have reached such a sub par offering that Costco has better quality products and better consistency, which may come as a surprise to some.So now we will go back to the store we went before Metro Market, Hilldale grocery shopping whole foods or metcalf’s or when we do not need premium we will go to Costco.A Sad story, you had it, you lost it!Olivier

If I lived closer to the Metro Market, I would do all my shopping here. The quality of their produce is high, they have a great cheese section, and a surprisingly good selection of grocery products for a relatively small store. The store is clean and the staff are friendly. The only drawback is that their prices are on the high side.

I had placed an order with Laurie in the deli department on Thursday for Sunday. When I arrived, the young man who helped me was befuddled, couldnt find the order, was confused. He called on another young man who wasnt much help. LIZ came over and said how can I help? How can we work together to resolve this ? And spit spot things were in order. Both LIZ and LAURIE were VERY helpful and Im appreciative !

Best grocery store on the east side, and maybe all of madison. Take the things you would see out of a solid to good pick n save, and spruce them up 20% across the board without higher prices. Very nice.

I love this place my friend and I always hang out here and buy stuff greatly priced and the staff is so kind and helpful we have always had the best experiences.

I really like the variety of food they have. There are so many options for breads, popcorn, sushi, donuts, and pizza. They use Chicago buttercream on their cakes and cupcakes. They will also cook meat for you as well.Its obviously more pricey than Walmart, but grocery stores normally are. They also have a coffee place. Its okay, but dont expect amazing coffee.All-in-all our family really likes shopping here.

Disappointing. Clean and organized but 99% of the employees were rude, unhelpful, entitled teenagers with enough nerve to say nasty things about guests in front of customers and close their registers down for anyone they didnt want to help. Woodmans offers the same quality with way better service at half the cost. Definitely wont be back here.

I love the store and the people are always helpful. They finally had pistachio muffins, which I love, but am sorry to say I was very disappointed there was no flavor and very dry. Hyvees are much better.

Clean and good looking store. Only thing that throws me off is that the soda is in the same isle as the refrigerated items. Just not what I am used to.Also, you dont get their savings unless you have their store card.

Metro Market has great produce department, deli, butcher, bakery, and cheese monger. Their prepared foods are tasty. And, their aisles are well stocked.

In under a year this store has gone from a delightful place to shop to just another grocery store. The quality of meats and vegetables is just mediocre. The staff is mostly young kids with no experience. I would rather drive across town and pay more to get quality food...

Brittany in the bakery is the best! Very helpful! Couldnt have picked a better person for the job! I did however give four stars because you took prices away from the bakery items. How can I buy something if I dont know how much it costs? Also the hot bar food items look kind of grim and some empty containers altogether. Most of the time still pretty tasty. But my last trip ticked me off. They had some delicious looking boneless wings, thinking maybe they were honey bbq or parmesan garlic or some variation, and so I loaded up on them. Paid the money and they were terrible!! It seemed to attempt to be some Asian flavoring and it was god awful. Maybe putting signs up could help with this frustration. I swear you had them, why take them down? Its very unhelpful to the customer who is trying to enjoy the food they are paying good money for. 5Th star would be earned if you made better decisions and thought about the guest.

Great quality and easy to shop once you get used to the layout. I highly recommend getting the app before you go and sign up for their rewards card. Its about as expensive as Festival.

Really conflicted here. I love this store but am pretty fumed that they placed their pistachios, including recalled bags, in a large display less than a week after the recall announced. Its hard to trust a store that wouldnt be aware of something like this.

Trys to be upscale, has nice produce, outstanding fresh orange juice. they will actually grill steaks and other cuts for you, in store. there is a well attended cheese kiosk, a friendly pharmacy, a well stocked liquor dept and an international aisles area with popular brands from all over the world. check that the kids at checkout ring things up correctly, they have often missed discounting instore special prices.

Im a frequent shopper at metro, every Friday my family and I enjoy movie night with pizza. I love the staff here there very friendly, laurie in the pizza area always makes me a cheese pizza for the kids, Sicilian for me, although Im sadden to hear you discontinue the Sicilian pizza. Laurie went above and beyond to continue my family tradition. Thank you Laurie for examplifing going above and beyond for your customers. Thank p.s enjoy the slice from our family to you. There was a long line and cashiers just stood there talking to each other while 1 cashier checked people out. The 1 line was 8 people deep and they just stood there watching the line grow and continued to gab.

Price gouging on meat. Pub burgers are always $4.99# & was on sale the last 2 weeks for $3.99#. Today theyre $6.99#!!!! Ribeye $21.99#. Bummer for me- no more meat.

Its a pretty good stop to quickly get things. Good looking produce. Prices are ok. Only thing I cant stand is to get sale prices I have to get a stupid card that I dont want to sign up for. My guess is you have to sign up so they can sell your info. So I will not be receiving sale prices. They staff the store well. I dont think Ive waited more then 5-10 minutes to be checked out either.

Close to home but would drive here from anywhere in Dane County. The staff is very helpful and willing to do what needs to be done to make the customer happy. The options in the deli, bakery, meat and seafood counters are extraordinary. Not sure if you like the Applewood Smoked Turkey, have a sample. You can sample all the items in the deli. Dont have the grill setup, no worry. The meat counter will cook your selection at no extra cost. Customer service as it should be and selection you will not beleive.

They have everything related to grocery except Halaal meat. You name it, they have it. A very well maintained and spacious grocery store.

Not sure why, perhaps since being taken over by Kroger but this store has really gone downhill. It is very dirty. Bakery self serve area is disgusting and goes uncleaned for days. Dented, leaking cans are reshelved. Hot food bar is warmed over frozen food. Use to be great but not anymore

The barista in the coffee area was excellent! I love the atmosphere and selection. Also, the smoked meat sandwiches are delicious!
