This is a wonderful service. My parents wanted to throw out my first bike due to a little rust and a sticky brake handle, but for nostalgic reasons, I wanted to hold on to it. After taking it to a couple bike repair places I was a little nervous that my parents were right — it would be more expensive to fix it than to just toss it and get a new one. But then I took it into Bicycle Recycle and Danny was happy to give it a simple tune-up (nothing elaborate but still very comprehensive and made a huge difference in how the bike rides) for an incredibly reasonable price. He talked me through each repair and adjustment he was making and certainly extended the life of my bike for several more years. I’ll be sure to bring it back when it starts getting a little janky again!

I forget the mans name but I called him, he said bring it at lunch, he stopped working on whatever he was doing, and immedaitely went to work fixing my electric bike tire. He was super nice, professional and knew what he was doing. The shop he has is really cool too. Only charged me 15 bucks to replace the tire tube. Highly recommend for anyone on east side needing anything bike related.

Met by appointment he took care of my flat in like 10 minutes or less. I brought my own tube so he only charged me 5 instead of 10 but I gave him 10 anyways since the service was great!

I was so impressed! The owner helped me find the perfect bike. There were tons of options and everything is very fairly priced. All of my questions were answered and I was even given a few pro tips. I will definitely suggest Bicycle Recycle to anyone I know in need of a bike. It was a great experience and I love supporting a local, small business!

Wiped out pretty hard in the rain on my 90s Raleigh mountain bike. After being told by another shop that it was un-fixable, I took it here and they fixed it for a very reasonable price. I got a new axle, new rear tire and some rear fork MacGyvering. It rides great again. Also, they keep bikes out of the landfill, that is so heroic. I highly recommend this place for bike purchase or repair. Local, sustainable, and friendly service.

The idea behind this place is to find old, abandoned bikes and return them to the market and society.I have bought an old (nearly as old as me) Schwinn road bike, which was refurbished with new parts. The price was reasonable and all of my questions were answered.

I love the business model and the service he is providing to the community but he could be more friendly.Asked if he could lace a rim for my fat tire. He said no, which is no issue, but then went on to inform me that fat bikes were a trend and people will soon be sick of them. 👎

As straight forward as it gets. Its obvious these guys main intentions are for everyone to enjoy biking. Bring bikes with that you or kids have outgrown or need small repair. Get them fixed or trade them in. They can accommodate most price ranges easily. Im happy to have met Danny and his crew, great guys and great business.

Ive been following this business since the owner was running it out of his parents garage, and its come a long, long way. Bycicle Recycle is a great spot to find some wheels. The prices vary from extemely affordable to the mid hundreds, but definitively a better option to buy a bike here that has been tuned and rehabilitated by an expert instead of blowing money at a department store and buying something that was assembled in the back by someone getting paid $10/hr.Checking out the inventory here before making a buying decision anywhere is a great move by anyone in Madison looking for a bike.

I had a lovely experience with bicycle recycle. My back tire blew out on my way to school. I caught a bus to get to school, but after classes I called Danny and he picked up my bike from a post I had locked it too, fixed it in no time at all, and my bike was ready by the time the buses got me back to Bicycle Recycle! I told him about some of the problems I was having shifting (I have a really old bike) and how a bike mechanic at Erics told me I would have to get an entire new shifting system (hundreds of dollars). Danny told me that was ridiculous, put my bike back on the mount and for no cost spend the next half hour making adjustments and cleaning up a great many of things. My bike can shift again! He then offered to do a full tune-up in the spring and get my bike riding like new again for $50. I am overjoyed!Just look at their motto; We are determined to save Bicycles from hitting the landfills and return them to the community at a price that allows anyone to own a bike. That is something I can get behind.
