Got some sweet, padded bike shorts. Selection of all apparel was small but larger than most due to covid/shipping shortages. Friendly staff and also have a fitting room open to try on gear.Wore them right out of the store for a ride! 🤣😂🤣

The staff was very personable. The woman that was helping me, although she was very busy, she was very nice. I came to the shop on an evening in the summertime, when its usually quite busy. If you come at a less busy time I imagine the stuff will be able to be even more attentive. One of the mechanics took time to come over and see if I needed help. When I asked him some questions about maintaining my new bike, he was very helpful! I am also very happy with the bike that was recommended to me.

Super easy to rent a bike from them. Plus they installed my cliplesd pedals. Convenient location and solid service. I will certainly rent a bike from them every time I come to town.

I had a great experience at Machinery Row Bicycles. I worked with Claire to pick out my first road bike. She was very knowledgeable about the bicycles I was interested in and was very helpful in understanding the pros and cons of the options I was considering. The store is right on a bike path, so there is a safe place to take a test ride.The store had a great selection of bikes and accessories. I didnt have any trouble finding the sizes I needed for the equipment I picked up (bike, helmet, shoes, etc.). Before I left, the mechanic evaluated the bike I selected and optimized the shifting. Loving my new ride!

First of all they had the bike that I wanted in stock and right now that, in and of itself, is a lot. Along with that, the customer service was excellent. They didnt try to push me into buying anything but they did answer all of my questions and genuinely enjoyed chatting and helping me find the gear thats best for me. I wish this was my local bike shop but since they were the only store within 900 miles to have my bike in stock it was worth the two hour drive.

One of the best bike shops in town! A little pricier than the internet, but you get to support a local business and their service is incredible! I love that as a regular, they dont mind when i stop in for a quick bottle refill or tire inflation while on a ride! Weekly Saturday morning group rides that leave at 10 are a great way to get to know other cyclists in the area! All around great shop!

Bought a combination lock cable bike lock. I accidentally changed the combination and locked myself out - ok, my fault, but it is very very easy to do. The locksmith charged me $75, plus tax to cut the cable lock. The store should stop selling this lock. When I went in for a replacement lock that used a KEY, I was offered a $3.20 discount... considering all the difficulty I had, I felt they should have either sold me one at cost or, better yet, given me one at no charge. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH THIS GROUP!

Was leary of going to a different bike shop then I normally do but Im glad I did. The workers were all fantastic and Aaron who ended up helping me was beyond great. I had an idea of everything I needed and wanted but was unsure of what would be compatible with the style of bike I was purchasing. He did a great job at explaining everything. He was not overly pushy about anything just seemed to be able to explain and use his expertise on components I was considering or nervous about. I had a great time in this shop and will definitely be going back. Im so glad this shop was recommended to me by several people.

I purchased a Giant ebike and accessories. I ordered the ebike over the phone from 153 miles away. When I arrived, someone was right there asking to help. Friendly service, very knowledgeable, and took time to help me find the accessories I needed to install on the ebike. It is a beautiful store right along the lake. I am very happy with the personable service and answered questions. Highly recommend! Ill definitely make the trip back and I can enjoy beautiful Madison.

The staff greeted me almost immediately upon entry. Took me to the product I was interested in. Explained everything throughly to me, took me out to test ride and talk through the product, made recommendations on what else would be needed, and saw the whole process through from beginning to end. I had stopped at two other shops, one had no product in my size that I wanted, and the other was trying to upsell me, even though they claimed to be the “budget” shop, after I mentioned several times I am a beginner.I appreciated the time staff took to explain things and see the whole process through and find a product that was just right for me.

Service was quick, inexpensive, direct, and friendly. I dont know much about bikes and didnt feel at all condescended to (which was a big concern going in with a minor bike problem). The space was aesthetically welcoming, too.

This was the 3rd bike shop our family visited while looking for a bike for my daughter.The first was a Trek store which didnt have anything available. The second was Eriks. The sales person at this store asked only one question Whos looking for a bike? I answered my daughter and he went and grabbed a $1,500 bike and said this should work for her. I told him I was looking for something less expensive, which seemed to aggravate him as he put the bike away. As my 11 year old daughter was sitting on the next selection she started clicking the gears. The salesperson aggressively told her We dont do that, made her get off the bike and spun the crank to shift the gears back into place.After leaving, my daughter didnt want to shop for bikes anymore and wanted to go home. We told her we had one last stop.The 3rd stop was Machinery Row. The atmosphere was totally different here. We were immediately greeted by Kayla who lets us wander for a bit. They had the best selection of bikes compared of other 2 shops and we found one for my daughter. Kayla was super positive, extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. She also helped change the mood of my daughter back to being excited about bike shopping!Our experience was so good that my wife decided she wanted a bike.. so we got her one too! I personally have been looking for a mountain bike for about a year and havent been able to find one. Kayla looked at future orders that were coming in and located me a bike! I have been to many local bike shops and no one has ever done this! I did some research at home about the bike, then called and placed the order the next day.Kayla sold 3 bikes and sold us on Machinery Row. We live by Rockford, IL and it was well worth the drive! I have been going to Machinery Row for many years for bikes, service & gear. Always have a great experience. This last visit I had to have the derailer adjusted and pedals replaced since I had a bearing making noise. Of course, I had to purchase new shoes to go with the pedals😊. Then I was talking with Chris about my ride comfort, he suggested a slight change on my set-up (getting older). What a difference that made.I worked with three different gentlemen and the sales lady when I was there. All were very nice and knowledgeable. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Ok, this place is the real deal. Great selection, knowledgeable staff, and exceptional customer service. The employees really listen to you, are honest, and arent pushy. Bought a new hybrid bike and it rides super smooth and crushes hills like a boss. Cant recommend this store enough!

I always have a very positive experience at machinery row bicycle shop. Every time I stop in they take good care of me very promptly. They take care of minor repairs or mechanical adjustments right on the spot within minutes. They don’t sell you services you don’t need. I recently stopped in thinking my bicycle me today comprehensive tuneup. They inspected it and told me as I needed a new chain, replaced it and had me on my way within a few minutes. The difference was night and day. The ride after was smooth and quiet. Totally typical experience. I don’t want to go anywhere else for service or sales.

My husband and I drove over 2 hours to look at a bike that I had put 25% down to hold. That bike was not available at any other shop within a 300 mile radius of my house. When we arrived, we were told that we could not use the restroom and that we could go to another establishment 2 blocks away to use theirs. When we returned, we wanted to look at other bikes in the showroom to compare and see what else was available. We were told we could not go in the showroom but if there was something we wanted to see they would bring it out. How would we know what was available? The salesperson brought out one other bike. I asked if I could ride it on a trainer to test it. I was told no but that I could ride it outside. It was 2 degrees with a -15 windchill! Or I could drive another 4+ hours round trip to test it another day. Really? Against my better judgement, I rode it outside on the icy parking lot.I respect most business covid policies. However, I work in a high risk profession where there is human saliva aerosol all over in a dental office. I am exposed all day. I have a bit of a hard time when someone tells me I can’t use a restroom or browse a showroom when I am spending that kind of money. If it is to protect your employees, what about the 10 people crammed into the small waiting space for service. I don’t think the employees or patrons safety was a priority then. We also went to Trek West and walked right in to browse the showroom and use the restrooms.Maybe the person who took my down payment knowing I was driving 2 hours to get there, could have shared your store policies with me over the phone?There is no apology or explanation as to why your store owner has these unrealistic policies. The owners really need to consider how their patrons are being treated.

Wonderful service, I called ahead to inquire about being fitted for my current bike which was killing my hands or perhaps replacing it. The person I spoke to in his dashing red ball cap (Hey Chris!) was in a word, wonderful.He explained why I was having issues on my MTB riding on the road even though I had modified it some to accommodate. He explained how the functional differences in the frame and design made it really quite implausible to modify my bike to make it really work for me as I wanted. Instead he suggested a reasonably priced Trek.The difference was instantly noticed as within the first 50 my right hand had not fallen asleep. And he was spot on for the first bike he looked at me and heard what I was looking for went to the basement and pulled this gem out.He also asked how old our helmets were, advising that mine and my partners helmets were maybe no long safe given their age, mine being from 2008. Whilst we shopped for a helmet and new gloves, the shop techs started swapping all the accessory parts off of my old bike to my new one. (Bottle cages ect.)When we returned to pick them both up, they had taking the rear rack off my old bike, found it wouldnt fit, and put it back on the old bike. Same with the computer, they didnt have to put it back on but they made certain my old bike would be ready to go with the parts that didnt transfer.I would encourage anyone looking for a good honest answer from a knowledgeable and friendly staff to go here, and give them a try.

Everything from training wheels for my grandsons first real bike to a brand new bike for his mom....everyone was so helpful and kind. Ben was fantastic in helping me remotely choose a bike (a surprise) for my daughter. Mike was delightful on the day that we picked it up and helped her choose a helmet and other gear. I was lucky to be in Mikes queue when I returned for training wheels for my grandsons bike. He not only knew what would best fit but he had them installed while I waited! If you are looking to find a dealer whom you can have a personal relationship, they are not the one. Speaking to them is like talking to androids. They Do Not give a customer service experience that you wish for. I’ll never buy anything from them.

When Derrick finishes a tune-up on my 16 year old bike, it works and feels like it did when it was brand new.All bike stores have mechanics. Most seem to have college students or other fairly young, relatively inexperienced people working on bikes.Derrick, like Machinery Row’s other mechanics, is a professional mechanic. There’s a difference and it is a big difference.My bike has never broken down while riding it. It just works flawlessly every time I ride it. I called to ask if a bike I was looking for was in stock and a service department employee answered. If I remember right I believe his name was Derek. He explained that all the sales staff was probably busy at that moment. Instead of just putting me on hold he answered all of my questions. Ended up buying the bike over the phone with him and stopped by a few hours later to pick it up.Told a relative about the experience and they stopped by a few hours after that and picked up a bike too!Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Friendliness from everyone. This is my first mountain bike so I had some questions about the bike and how to use it and they were very eager to help. I also drove 6 1/2 hours from the metro Detroit area and Regan or Reegan (not sure how to spell his name) was also very courteous over the phone and had my bike ready for me when I arrived knowing that I had a long drive back home even though they were slammed. It was very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to drive here again if I couldnt find the bike that I wanted where I live.

Drove 120 miles to try out two high end Giant Defy Bikes. I called the day before and at 12:30 in the afternoon just 4 hours before arriving. Staff who answered check the inventory on the computer and told me no problem, bikes will be ready to test ride. When I get there, I am told one of the bikes(which I was very interested in purchasing) wasnt available and was sold at 12 pm. Found that hard to believe-regardless communication with a customer was less than ideal. Drove 120 miles back home frustrated and will not deal with Machinery Row Bicycles in the future.After reading my review and responding to my email, the manager replied, apologized and actually made me a very wonderful offer on a different Giant Bike. Class act. Thank you.

Everyone is really friendly and helpful, willing to make suggestions and explain the options for anything Im not familiar with. Ive gotten a good-quality bike pump and bike lights there. I commute to work by bike every day, to my office a block away from Machinery Row; if something goes wrong (yesterday it was a flat tire) I can usually get it fixed the same day, in plenty of time to head for home.

I have bought two bicycles from Machinery Row and I continue to go back for the excellent service. I bought cleaning product recently and a staff member helped me with a quick brake fix on my bike when I stopped in during a ride with my girlfriend. Machinery Row will continue to be my shop of choice!

So I was going to go looking for a new bicycle with the idea of trading in my old bike. I had checked the night before if bicycle shops are closed or not. They are not.I wear a face mask and gloves to every place I go shopping and I follow the social distancing rule and all of that sort of thing. I am all in agreement for stores to limit the number of customers in at any given time. I was ready, if necessary, to wait in line outside until it was my turn to come into the store.I stopped in at Machinery Row Bicycle Shop at the start of Willy Street. I walked right in. The way they deal with these pandemic times is that one person waits at a line in their lobby area and then they bring a bike from the show room out to you. You dont get to go into the show room.I told the woman in charge of the line that I want to look at all the bikes in the show room. Im not exactly sure what I want. I want to look at the display of all the bikes to get an idea of how to narrow down my choices from there. Im window shopping. I have no specific styles, brands, or models on my mind at this point.I guess in order to shop at this bicycle shop, one must check out the bikes on their website before coming to the store. I told the women, nevermind. She gave me a funny look and I left. Ill go elsewhere.

Very disappointed. The young man clearly was very anxious about COVID as a result quality customer service was significantly lacking. I went there to seek expert advice not to be demeaned.
