Love the business model of farm to table coffee directly from the source! Quiet atmosphere to study and enjoy some holiday treats. I cant wait to see their holiday specials after trying their pumpkin spiced chai. Soo good!

Walking into this place was like walking into a graveyard. 10 ppl in the place and you could hear a pin drop. Vibe is off. Service is SLO Waited 20 minutes for an americano…the place was not busy. 4 employees. It was sort of like watching slugs race. Really sad to see someone’s business being ran like this. Food and coffee good. Will not be returning.

Great place, great vibe. But they dont serve anything on actual porcelain plates. They just serve everything automatically to go. So you are thinking you would like to eat IN for a change with real plates and mugs but they just hand you this bag full of your order with everything wrapped in paper, paper cup for coffee, plastic cup for water. Then you have to sit down in their shop and unpack everything. And if you ask for a plate they offer you a plastic to-go bowl which flies in the face of their supposed environmental reputation. Side note, worst scone ever! I dont think they have any clue about what a scone even is or how to serve them etc. Yuck. And their lunch sandwiches are insanely expensive for what you get. I think the cheapest one is $7.00 and its just this thin, empty bit of nothing. It is not what a seven dollar sandwich should look like. Just go to Burger King of youre hungry.

I like my coffee dark and bitter, to match my heart. Because of this Im usually pretty easy to please when it comes to a coffee shop. The service is good. We still have the same bipolar tip jar that we had back when it was jittery Joes. If its not a busy time of day, you can slide up to the curb and run in, without anybody harassing your dog.😎

I frequent this location typically in the mornings and the speed of service is usually fast and everyone seems dressed appropriately. Unfortunately this morning that was not the case. It seemed like normal morning business but there were only 2 working and while the woman at the register was clearly doing the best she could, the orders were slow to the point where it seemed like one man almost left with his food and almost forget he had ordered a drink.This event occurred around 8:40 am today. While the speed of service can be forgiven and understood, I had a concern for the attire of the woman at the front. The person making the food was wearing a hat and her hair was kept under the hat so as to keep any strands from falling. The woman at the counter with VERY long blond hair did not have her hair pulled up into some form of bun and she only had what looked like a blue scarf very poorly wrapped around it. I didn’t order any food but with hair that long I’d be concerned for her to even handle drinks since she does not have her hair done in a controlled manner. The service here is always A+ but this attire issue could be a detriment to the business. Not sure if she was training or what but I would definitely get everyone with hair of that nature in a hat and at least have it kept up where strands could not be so free flowing. I’ve often seen men working in the shop with low cut hair or ones with longer hair in hats and I don’t see why this person wouldn’t be following what seems like a rule....

Z Beans’ coffee tastes amazing. It’s so rich I don’t even put sugar in my coffee when I get it. They have a great selection of breakfast foods and smoothies. Makes it a really good spot to go in the morning to start your day right. The welcoming energy from the staff will also put you in a good mood and ready to take on the day! Love this place.

Perfect coffee experience! This was my first time here and Carter was extremely welcoming and patient as I looked at the menu. I got the sweetened ice coffee and a chicken salad sandwich. The coffee was naturally sweet. The chicken salad was divine - best Ive tried in Macon thus far. Overall, the shop had a very welcoming vibe, perfect for studying or just catching up with friends. I will be back!

I’ve been a loyal customer of Z beans since day 1. I love the quality of not only the product, but also the quality of service Z beans provides. Every 3 weeks coffee is shipped directly to my house saving the time and energy of having to go to the store all the time. The taste of the coffee is rich and flavorful: a coffee lovers dream! I enjoy their social media prescense as well. Being able to learn about to hard working farmers that harvest the coffee beans I consume is both unique and special. 5/5 highly recommend this coffee and the Z Beans company!

I went around 2pm a few days ago. I looked for a good spot to sit but all the two person tables were taken up by, for the most part, one person. I didnt like the bar I ended up sitting at, but the outlets were very conveniently positioned. I like that the plastic cups had a place to be recycled. Its rare that I see that much effort taken to be environmentally friendly. The bathroom was clean. My order was finished promptly and tasted good. The musical atmosphere was calming but energizing. A good place for a meeting if you can find a place to sit.

Z Beans Coffee food, drinks, atmosphere, service, and management/owners are all wonderful! My friends and I enjoy going there at least once a week. Everyone there is great! Kristin is a talented artist and a splendidZ Beans server. She really shines with her welcome smile, kind voice, and the music she selects to play in the background.I also love Z Beans mission to be more socially & environmentally responsible by using only fair trade coffee and reusable mugs, metal plates & flatware, etc. while dining there & refilling travel mugs for to-go drinks. I like the aesthetics of the interior, and the coffee is excellent. Even better, Ive had consistently outstanding service. Drinks are pricier than what Im normally willing to pay, but since the overall experience is great Im willing to spend the money now and again. The loyalty reward discounts are also appreciated!

Since transitioning from Jittery Joe’s to ZBeans there have been some positive and negative changes.Pros: my wife said she always noticed flies before but they are gone now.The coffee is better.Cons:The Service: painfully slow, and not in a “we are hand crafting your order” way but in a “we just have no sense of urgency” way. This has been the case since the change, but in the past 3 visits it has gotten progressively worse. On our last visit, we waited in a line for a while then ordered three easy drinks ( 1 drip, 2 iced coffees) and some food. After 15 minutes of waiting with out getting anything I went to the bar and just sort of looked around. One employee seemed to be aware that there was a back up and promised our food soon, one looked like he had no sense that we was working at all, and the other was taking orders and making drinks (maybe slowly, maybe not at all. It was hard to tell). We finally got our order at about the 20 minute mark. It was really frustrating. It just seems like there is no staff training in customer service and urgency of orders. Only the guy making sandwiches (who wasn’t there at first) seemed to care.Ambiance: the remodel is very...brown, not my cup of coffee but whatever, the music though is with not in or an odd choice. This past visit it was was classical choral music. Almost felt it was counteracting the caffeine in the coffee.Food: I’m glad they kept the menu since the pimento cheese and bacon sandwich is incredible. But there are inventory problems.I don’t know that I’ll give them more than one more shot. It’s really disappointing that if you want a good coffee and sandwich you have to commit half an hour to it. I think all this can be fixed—either with training or some staff that cares, most likely both. I really wish this could get fixed, but we’ll see.

I was in town for a wedding. I wanted to find a coffee shop nearby that I could enjoy. This place was perfect. The staff were super friendly and helpful. I drink my coffee black and no sugar so you can taste when it is burnt or under extracted. Both the medium and dark roasts were well brewed. The medium roast was more my taste, but neither were sour or bitter. I also bought hot tea, cold brew, and an iced latte for family, everyone was very pleased. So glad I sought this place out instead of the starbucks in the hotel lobby. As a hobby woodworker I really enjoyed the furnishings and decor. Would definitely recommend.

Great place to visit right by the Mercer University Campus. The owners/operators of the shop, Shane & Carter have done a great job in just a few months of the place being opened. The coffee is always fresh, their frappes/smoothies are good and pastries as well. I look forward to my future visits there and look forward to seeing their continued growth as well.

The absolute best coffee in Macon! I tried all of the coffee shops in Macon and Z Beans is hands down the best! Not only great coffee, but great service and youre supporting farmers in Ecuador! Z Beans is my favorite coffee shop! I was very excited to hear that they offer gluten free options. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable to tell me which items were gluten free. They also were happy to clean an area to prepare my sandwich so that it wouldn’t be contaminated with any gluten! If you have any questions about the menu, they are always happy to help you so that you order something you’ll like. The coffee is also delicious!! The atmosphere is my favorite out of any other coffee shop, and it is perfect for homework or just hanging out with friends.

For the most part, I love this coffee shop. Staff is great. Atmosphere is laid back. In the afternoon it seems to be hit or miss in terms of how efficient the service is. That is because it is usually 1 person working. I have waited 15-20 min for a sandwich to be made. Which isnt horrible but easier to deal with when not on a limited lunch break. But even with the wait I still love this coffee shop

Was never a big coffee fan until I had Z Beans. Its smooth and very easy to drink even black. Also has a great social mission which gives just that much more reason to try out! Incredible coffee and very friendly staff. Highly recommend checking out!

I come here regularly and this is easily the best coffee shop in Downtown Macon. I moved down here from the Atlanta Metro Area and was initially disappointed in the lack of selection in Middle Georgia. Then this place opened and its really the best place in downtown. Nice vibe, delicious coffee and all the college kids that hangout inside give it a lively feel. Everytime Im in the area I stop in and support this place. Also, the area around it is highly walkable and there are several restaurants in Mercer village. Its a great spot. The story behind the beans is interesting too.

Great baristas, but you cant tip them?? Hope they get a higher wage.In response to the owners response: yes, there were 2 jars with pictures next to the register. I asked if that was the tip jar and I was told they were donations for the places pictured. I told the girls I wanted to tip them directly, they responded that they werent allowed to accept (direct) tips, I guess this is what you mean by hours worked.

Every single person Ive talked to about Z Beans has gushed about how good it is. A week ago I tried their Milton cappuccino and since then have come back four times (and Im not normally one to spend lots of $$$ on coffee). The flavor is robust and smooth and could give Starbucks a run for their money. The staff is friendly, and I like the changes theyve made to the interior design. Its modern, calm, and warm. Ill be back soon!

Seeing young people with vision and true entrepreneurial spirit is so refreshing. The owner Shane is one of a kind. You can tell when someone respects the craft of customer service and runs a business with true humility. Any owner of a businesses will tell you that the right staff will make or break a business. When you walk in the doors, you get the warm smell of a cup of joe, and a genuine hello from the staff. I know where I’ll be getting my morning coffee from!

I gave them ONE star because I cant give them ZERO stars like I wanted. I had ordered my coffee online with SPECIFIC instructions and I got the completely WRONG order. It was my first time trying Z Beans and I never had a order so wrong this BAD. I completely wasted my $4.25 on a hot drink that was supposed to be ICED. Will not be going back because why waste more money on an order that will be WRONG again? I wish I can just get my money back and go back to Starbucks where I belong.

Elected for Z beans coffee instead of the continental breakfast at our hotel. Service was great and they know their product well (single sourcing, light or dark options, etc..). Food was great, freshly prepared & well priced.

The coffee tasted like heaven, the atmosphere was nice. I was visiting Macon and ended up in this shop super accidentally. Later on I ordered grounded coffee and brewed it at home, it is great and well worth the money. I do recommend it and secretly hoping they will open a store in Atlanta soon!

I have been drinking zbeans for about a year now so I was thrilled to find out that they opened a coffee shop. I visited a few times now and always enjoyed some really good coffee with a pastry.Its a nice place with great atmosphere. It is ran by very kind people with a vision to help others. I love that.

Atmosphere was enjoyable and the coffee hot chocolate and many other things were great. The staff are always nice and they have free Wifi as well, I will always come here for a bite to eat or a cup of coffee.

I was traveling on business from Atlanta to Savannah yesterday and stopped for lunch in Macon. Typically, I would have just driven through Starbucks and been on my way, but I had some time to kill so I decided to try a local coffee shop, instead. This place had apparently just opened, but it was still superb nonetheless! Obviously they have some new-business-kinks to work out, but they provide great service.

Z-Beans is one of the best spots on Mercers campus to grab coffee. It is a great atmosphere and the people who work there treat you great. They have a huge role on campus helping many organizations. I definitely recommend stopping by and trying it out.

I am not a coffee goer, so when I arrived at Z Beans I had no idea as to what I was doing. I told the cashier somewhat of what I liked, and without a thought she said,” I know the drink for you.” Upon receiving the drink, I was astounded by the rich taste. All in all, good look, great service, greatest taste.

Z Beans became a part of my routine as a student at Mercer University! The awesome staff serving up smooth, great tasting coffee with a unique flavor will be one of the things I miss most about Macon. Fortunately, the online ordering options help me keep Z Beans part of my daily routine even when I’m not in Macon anymore!

Starbucks used to be my go to coffee shop. Id go in, pay for my coffee, receive my coffee, and thats the end of it. Pretty shallow. Now I choose zbeans because frankly, it feels better to buy from them. I know the name of the farmer who grew the coffee I just bought, Arturo Romero. Ive seen his face. Its just a different experience than any other coffee. Oh, I almost forgot, the coffee is outrageously good too lol.

I have been here twice, I love that they have so many options seeing as I love a good latte with almond milk and a sugar free flavoring. Their coffee is sooo good! Gonna miss it when I leave Macon.

I was very satisfied with the food and coffee. The young man who waited on me, however, seemed about half out of it. His coworker did a much better job, but that kind of soured me on the place.

My husband and I have been going to Z-Beans for awhile each Sunday morning. Up until two weeks ago, service has been very friendly, and they have great coffee and atmosphere.Last week, we requested the special that was advertised on the chalkboard outside. It makes it sound like any 16 oz drink is available with this special. After we ordered and they rang up the price, which was significantly more than the advertised special, we asked why they didn’t apply the special. They said it only applied to drip coffee and not to other types of drinks. This week, I ordered a 12 oz cappuccino and a danish. The gal at the register started getting a 20 oz cup. I said that looked like it might be a different size than what I ordered. After she rang my order up, it only came to the price of the coffee. I reminded her about the danish. She then muttered under her breath that I didn’t order one. But I DID.I’ve done customer service. I get having things on my mind and being distracted. I’ve made mistakes in orders. I’ve had people that annoyed me for no particular reason or just rubbed me the wrong way. But in the end, all those things were really MY problem and sometimes I just had to fake the positive vibes.I’ve really enjoyed going to Z Beans in the past, and I prefer to support local businesses rather than Starbucks. But if I’m paying $8 for coffee and a pastry, I don’t want an attitude from the barista. Additionally, the sign advertising the breakfast special needs to be a little more specific, because right now it’s coming across as false advertising.

Im a very picky dude when it comes to coffee. Ive lived in Philadelphia and now in Chicago and this lil places coffee is as fine as any of the stellar places in those larger cities....congrats to Macon and you Z peeps for having a top shelf product, staff and vibe.

If I had to chose between which was better, the service or the coffee itself, I couldnt. The young woman working was extremely polite and was able to describe the nitro press, a question from my husband who ended up ordering. His drink, along with my caramel macchiato with extra caramel as requested, was extremely flavorful and hands down the best coffee we have tasted. My only suggestion would be to implement a rewards program as myself, and I am sure many others, will be stopping in daily.

I have been drinking Z-Beans Coffee ever since they first started roasting it and selling it. Its the best coffee roast I have ever had. And coming as a strong coffee drinker, that is saying something. I make it in my french press in the morning, I have my business buy it and make it for the entire team and Ill frequently stop by the coffee shop and have a cup of coffee. I drink their coffee black or iced but Im told by my friends who drink the fancier types that they are good.The coffee shop by itself is worth the trip. What previously was an outdated Jit Joes that never catered towards the students is just the opposite. The owners (who are Mercer grads) are extremely passionate about their business and it shows in the details. Always clean and friendly staff. I would strongly recommend going there to work, relax by yourself or meet up with somebody.

Went in with my wife to pick up lunch to go last Friday, ended waiting nearly 30 mins to get our sandwiches. With nearly 10 minutes in between my wifes and mine, with a person who ordered after us getting served in between. Things were going so slow the manager came over and switched out with the employee making the sandwiches, and he finished mine. As he was finishing it, he noticed it was both burned on the end and the previous employee had used the end of the bread for one of the slices. At home not a big deal, but when I am spending $8 on a sandwich its not great. The manager did offer to make me another sandwich but I didnt have time to wait for another, I had to get back to work. Then when my wife went to eat her sandwich it was also made incorrectly, missing the spinach and tomato she had asked for. Other than that the employees were nice (even with the sandwich mistakes) and the latte I got was okay.

I found a new place with the best coffee and atmosphere. The best coffee i have tasted in months. Looking forward to what comes next.
