I gave them a new tire and 2 new tubes and asked to replace my brake pads, replace some spokes, install a seat. They didnt change one of the tubes and just adjusted my brake pads. Conclusion: I got a flat less than 3 weeks after fixing it (the purpose of changing my tubes was exactly to avoid fixing it soon) and my brake pads are again not working properly. My last flat was in March! And they didnt tell me they kept the new tube. I called them and the store was about to close. I had to spend time and money going to Target and on this day I didnt go to work (I dont have a car I use my bicycle). It is unfair and not correct. Also, I came here because I left this bycicle at their other store in Santa Monica. The dude was so high he didnt understand what needed to be done. When I went to get it back, the whole staff was arguing and messy. Totally insane...---Update: Yeah, I did call you and said I would call the police because you didnt tell me you kept the new tube with you. Also, the break adjustment is on the receipt. Now I ask you: if a customer says change it, you dont do it? you dont inform it? and about the guy that was high you know about it because I complained at the store at the same time it happened I dont need to call you again. Such a dumb I even gave them tip. Also, I left a nice review last time I was there and now I am leaving a bad review because this is necessary. Now I wouldnt come back...
The worst customer service! My order took way longer then they initially said just for a brake change! They also lied about having all the parts and then another person told me a week later that they are still waiting on some parts. Now I’m still trying to get my bike back and it’s been 8 days already.
Good fast work on my vintage Schwinn. Fair price (I was surprised)....oiled the chain for free.
This is an awesome place to get a bike. The people who work here are also very nice and knowledgeable of all their bikes and products. Reasonable price and helpful service.
$25 for ONE inner tube, out of all the bike shops i’ve gone to in Downtown LA, Culver City, Pasadena, Van Nuys, South Central LA i have not heard of someone charging more than $10 for ONE inner tube. when we (me and a couple friends) went to the store he came out with a rude attitude telling us he doesn’t diagnose issues on the bike and that he only repairs so we had to sit there trying to diagnose the bike when we found out it was flat, then he refused to take our bike in for repair. For the people who know well about how effortlessly you can replace one inner tube and the prices of inner tubes you know it shouldn’t cost more than $10 for one single inner tube. At that point we just ordered an Uber for my friend due to that absurd and shocking price of a replacement and horrible attitude of the people there. If i could 0 star i would. worst bike shop experience i’ve had in a 30 mile radius around DTLA. I discourage you to EVER go to this bike shop.
EDIT 07/28: Went to a different bike shop that repaired my bike in 5 mins, no questions asked. So, not only was the person at Palms Cycle rude, but also unhelpful. They are not going to win customers with this attitude. Downgraded from 3 stars to 1 star.07/24: 3 stars: Refused to repair my bike - and take my money and time - because they felt it had way too many problems. Appreciated the honesty, didnt appreciate the rudeness.
Super friendly and knowledgeable bike shop. They went out of their way to help me when my e bike broke down in their neighborhood. I will now be going out of my way to bring repairs their way. Please support them in this difficult times!
Found the service department to be really rough around the edges and overall not very helpful. I had a flat tire and had to go back 3 times to get it fixed. In addition I paid multiple times for the correction, with no visibility into what i was paying for. I won’t be going back here for service. Also, I shopped for bikes here and found them to be over priced compared to the market.
Really good experience, despite the Covid situation, nice staff, knowledgeable and competitive pricing. Well be back for sure
Ive been going to the shop for a long time. Over 15yrs. Great service and helpful tips on biking and how to build a bike for me! Check them out and see for yourself!
Andrew, the owner, is super helpful, accommodating and understanding! Had an issue with the way basket was put on my bike by the previous shop owners (it fell off when I was riding it - was lucky I didnt crash) and Andrew and Marteen (who is super friendly and knowledgable) found an easy, quick fix for it when I brought my bike in and explained what had happened. They also filled my tires with a little air and greased my bike up a bit. Will definitely be using this shop as long as I am in the Culver City/Mar Vista area!
The new guy thats there is no help. Bought my sons bike there and went back trying to get a new hoop waited and then said try different bike shop!
Went to the front which was closed due to COVID. I was directed to the back of the shop where nobody attended to me for 15 minutes so I left. Not even a “oh we will be right with you”
Cool shop, good bikes. I had to write this review because I called the younger guy behind the counter holmes and he almost cried and had to call the manager.... classic!
The last time I went to Palm cycle some long-haired greaseball try to overcharge me for some used parts and gave me horrible horrible horrible customer service..Today I was in a bind and I needed to go to to a bike shop..My wife said lets give them one more chance..I knew there was something different when I walked in it was clean it was remodeled and it didnt look like a daycare for delinquents..The staff treated us friendly, they knew exactly what I was talking about and they had everything in stock and I was in and out of there in less than 30 minutes..And what theyre friendly customer service and positive attitude Im definitely bringing the rest of my bike business back here..I rarely say this but I look forward to spending money at this location..
I love this place they only charged me $5 to install my foot straps on my fixie you guise should come to this bike shop and you guys are going to love it. This is the best bike store in town because the even give you free air and good staff.
Very helpful team and fair prices, best bike store in the neighborhood. Update: Lost one star for replacing my disc brakes, which ended up not fixing my problem (stong vibration). Ended up fixing it myself after a bit of googling.
Went there today after looking around for the parts that I needed at every other bikestore in the neighborhood. Not only did they have the right parts in stock, but they installed them on my bike on the spot and gave the derailleurs a tune up as well. I almost never give reviews but was impressed with these guys enough to bother :-)Bottom line, the service was extraordinary and I was surprised with the amount of quality gear they have in stock.
I really want to like this place since it is just down the street from me. However, my last experience there wasnt (and hasnt been) great.I brought my single speed in because the chain had been falling off while riding. I was told at first that it was a problem with my chain and it would need to be replaced. Fine. Then, I was told by someone else that it wasnt my chain it was my free wheel and that that would have to be replaced. Okay. When it came to ring me up, the second person said that I would just be paying for the free wheel, but the person that actually rang me up said the chain was already on so I had to pay for that too. Whatever, I figured I might as well just take both, hopefully it will last a good long while.Fast forward a week, and my chain is coming off again. I want to go in but this place is impossible for me to go to during the week due to their hours, and Im busy over the weekend.Today, on my commute to work the chain falls off yet again. This time, the rear wheel has moved forward in the rear dropouts so far that it is caught against the frame and wont spin. I ended up having to walk, carrying my bike with its rear wheel off the ground for a little less than a mile. I arrived late, sweaty, and dirty, all because they clearly did not put the back wheel on tight enough when they replaced the chain and free wheel. So spent more money than I needed to to end up with a problem worse than when I came in.I will not be going to this shop again any time soon and will instead be going to one near my work.
Very helpful and fast service!
I wanted to say thanks to Matt, who helped me find the bike I wanted (Felt 95 Team Issue) for an awesome price. The store has friendly staff and Matt told me a little about the store history. Thanks again Matt and to Palms Cycle!!! I will definitely shop there again.
I had two bikes tuned up and Candice the owners daughter was more concerned about watching her two year old daughter than helping me. I took my bikes in separately as i could only ride one at a time and both times the customer service was horrible. Candice has a young boy about 15 years old with no knowledge and couldnt ever ring my ticket up correctly. I wont be going back as i spent $225 and got horrible service and I was treated like they didnt have time to wait on me. I was a loyal customer since 2000 and wont be going back. I called when i got home the local bike shop in Culver City and found out I would have paid half the price and that really made me mad too. When the owners daughter rang me up she didnt say thank you or come back again and i wont.
This place is what id expect from a bike shop! Wide variety of bikes and just about any parts and accessories for your cycle! Service is great, very knowledgeable staff. Also if your around the neighborhood they even hook you up with free air should you be low on your psi !
Great shop ! staff is nice and seem to enjoy working there. the manager woman needs to pay more attention to her customers though but the white kid that look like a nazi and enrique are very helpful. got my chain and tires replaced the mechanics did a great job will be returning soon.
They replaced my bike tube for $13 and waited only a short 10 minutes. Good service good price. Absolutely hated hearing one of the employees crying and screaming baby. Omg why the screaming and crying baby while I wait.
Best local bike shop in the area. Andrew in the service department was a true professional. Awesome experience!
Ive been going there for years, they have excellent repair work and service, and I am grateful to have them in biking distance.
Its closed down
Amazing Selection and Profesional staff can assist your every need.
I came in to get my front brake wire re-done since it had snapped. The part cost $3.00 and labor was $15.00 and the job took less than 5 minutes. I understand that this is probably a standard price and we all have to make money, but Ive gotten more difficult jobs, like fixing a flat, done here before and have been charged less. This shop just lost a regular customer.
Not the best service. I went in with a chain that squeaked came out with a chain that squeaked. I fixed it myself in the end. The brakes were tighter though. I dont think Ill go back. Ill just do the work myself in future or find another shop.
Friendly and helpful. Ill know next week how they treated my bike.
Very helpful bike shop with pretty much everything you can need to add to your bike pretty good customer service great home atmosphere tons of bikes to choose from and maintenance the prices are reasonable but definitely not the lowest Ive seen
Ive gone here twice to have my back tube repaired and each time after a week the tube deflates. I think they purposely poke a hole just so they can have you come back.
So far so good
Very helpful and accommodating.
Came in for a rear tire change and have to take my bike to another shop to undo the the mechanics lack of experience on putting my bike back together.
Fantastic service
