I was going downtown to get some pants altered at Mikes Tailor Shop on Main Street (Great tailor shop BTW). When I looked online for their hours, I noticed a bike shop right next door in one of the photos. My bike needed some adjustments, so I thought I could deal with my pants and bike at the same time.Wow! What a find! The other reviews were spot on. This is an old school, family-owned bike shop that has been in the same place for over 20 years! They have been an integral part of the downtown bike scene for many years. When I called, I was quoted a price for the adjustments. I thought the gentlemen misunderstood what I was asking. When I got there and explained what I wanted, it was the same price. I used another downtown bike shop recently. I was given a different price when I got there. As with many small businesses, small bike shops like these are struggling to stay in business. If you are in the area and need parts, a lock, a tune-up or a complete overhaul, El Maestro is the place to go. They are friendly and knowledgeable. Support small businesses like this.
This place is amazing . I came here after years of not using my bicycle. The guy who helped me was amazing. He had a long conversation about how to properly take care of my bicycle. I took his recommendations for repairs on my bike and fully trusted him . I will definitely continue to come here. Its also pretty cool to see their little dog hang out at the shop
Ive been coming here for years now. I cannot express how great the service here is. One of the best family owned bike shops that i know of where they care about your needs for any repairs to quality of service. Very professional and caring where they actually care about the customers not their pockets. If anyone ever needs service in DownTown LA area be sure to stop by here and feel the experience yourself.
So, I had a problem on my bike hanger for the derailleur. I took the bike to many bikeshops and couldnt get a problem solver until this bikeshop. The owner installed a new hanger with a derailleur and its back to working so its a great shop for good quality 👌
They are really Nice and really good serviceTo the public thank you
Great customer service live this place good prices
Great shop. The workers were able to tend to each customer to ensure that they all had a positive experience. Excellent customer service, amazing prices and fantastic products!
I was visiting DT and my tire popped and they were the only ones to answer and actually have what I needed. Once me and my boyfriend got there they worked on my bike right away, ready in 10 min. We also eneded up getting a seat for his bike really cheap and they also installed it. Seems family owned and they also have the most adorable little dog. If Im ever around I will make sure to stop by again.
Convient bike shop very close to home, just across the street.
Great shop, friendly good service and good prices
They perform bike repairs far quicker and at better prices than the other shops in the DTLA area
This place was few blocks from where I live so it was an easy walk. Upon entering I was greeted and taken care of without delay. My bike needed to be serviced and within an hours time the work was completed. Great customer service; easy, laid back attitude BUT they get the job done! Highly recommended. This will be my neighborhood bike shop moving forward. Great experience all around.
Super helpful and knowledgeable workers
Great service! the repair was fast and the even offers me accessories for upgrades. Love this shop!
Good service and pricing.
Fantastic service and very knowledgeable staff. I came in during the busy post work rush and had my bike looked at plus given pointers on seating position. I really enjoyed my time here and will return.
Professional n quick
Awesome and friendly people! The service was fast and great! Recommended!
They who repairs really knows what hes doing. He worked fast and made my bike look like new.
Their prices are better than the other shop in the area and the guy that works here is real nice and helpful!!
I’m so happy I found this bike shop! Awesome staff very helpful.
Friendly and have good stock, but they’ve lied to me about prices several times over the phone.
I’m so happy I found this bike shop! Awesome staff very helpful.
For great prices and fast service, come here. Brought in two bikes that needed TLC and new parts, cost me under $150 to have like new bikes. Totally recommend.
Great deals of good bikes! The service was even greater!
Fantastic service. The folks are amazing. In LA after biking from Portland and needed a place to box my bike. They where quick, fair and all about making sure the bike got the best treatment.
Im convinced this is the best bike shop in LA, hands down. After picking up a couple of kids bikes at Toys R Us and making a foolish attempt at putting them together myself, I made a mess of them, mostly the caliper brakes. Running on limited time, and after calling around, I dropped by this place with the bikes and they really stepped up. Not only did they have both bikes ready to go in a couple of hours but, Manny, the manager, offered to do the work free of charge because they were for an adopt a family program.Really great people, really great work, really great business.
My favorite bike shop in the city. I commute on my bike and put thousands of miles on it every year and these guys take care of any issues I have. Fair prices, quality work, super cool guys.
Solid people, family business ran for years. They are the go to for fair prices and fast service. They have always treated me fair over the years.TIP: Call first, sometimes they are not open when scheduled.
Been here 3 or 4 times for small/medium issues. They’re always nice, fast, effective, and never upsell. Highly recommend!
I’m so happy I found this bike shop! Awesome staff very helpful.
I got into cycling close to a year ago. Not having had a successful bike ride in over a decade, I began to ride once more with some trepidation, a bit of fear, and a lot of excitement. With my first bike, I went to a popular bike shop, where I found great products, but the customer service left me not wanting to return - I was looking for a shop that made me feel welcomed and not feel like a loser for not knowing exactly what my bike needed. I found El Maestro on a Google search while in search for a shop that would fix my friends dented rim in Downtown LA. During that visit, El Maestro (the genuinely friendly shop owner) was very professional, knowledgeable, and willing to help my friend in whatever way he could. The atmosphere at El Maestro made it my choice bike shop when I began to build a new bike from scratch, and at every point of the build, Id go to El Maestro (and the other two awesome staff, Julio and Manny) and ask for advice on what components to add to my bike. Ive been very happy with the service they have provided, the knowledge they have shared with me, and the welcoming feeling Ive had at the shop. There are other fancy/hipster shops in DTLA and its surrounding areas, but this is definitely the place to go to if you want honest work, reasonable prices, and a staff that truly cares about the art of bike building and understands the love in riding a bike.
Too expensive!! Are you kidding. They charged me $12 to change a flat tire, where I usually go its $6 but since I needed it asap I went there but I am never going back. Two stars because they were nice.
This bike shop is near in my place. So easy to find and the service was great!
Called to confirm they close at 6pm. Arrived at 5:30pm today and they were closed. Its totally okay if they close at 5:30pm, but tell your potential customers that! Dont be dishonest. Bad business
I have been dealing with the bike shop for years back when they where they still converting the old buildings into Apartments I have always been satisfied with their customer service and prices even to this day I come all the way from West Covina to buy things from them they dont have it Ill make an effort to get it or to help you in some way
Simple & easy. New to the neighborhood, the GFs cruiser had a flat (hate fixing em). I called, asked them if theyd do the work (seeing as it seemed theyre fixed gear heavy), they said they were happy to.Trotted the wheel in, stood there as I was helped in under 3 mins, flat repaired and all. Paid, trotted right back out the door. They mentioned to me that they also do house calls.Simple and easy. Cant ask for much more on the service side of things.
Good bike shop,very detail..
If you just moved downtown, or have lived downtown but just got a bike, at first it seems like theres a ton of shops for cyclists and youll be fine, then it seems like every single bike shop downtown has something wrong with it. Ive been riding for about 3 years, trying to give the different bike shops all my business equally hoping to settle for the best once i figured out which one it was. Sometimes its a matter of whats closest because youre in a jam and got a flat and can only walk a block because you are in the middle of a delivery or something, so its good to know all the shops, but i think EL MAESTRO is downtowns best bike shop. There was one time I went in and I think I needed my rear derailleur adjusted and i remember i had to drive away twice and come back a 3rd time because they didnt set it how i asked and for a while I thought theres just no good bike shops downtown, but that was like one out of I dont even know how many repairs now. Maybe it was my wording. Maybe that one complaint wasnt even their fault. This place is the best place to stop.Manny is the star of the show, hes a really good listener, not a BSer and does really good work. Always has really great recommendations. The other guy, junior also does good work, when you are having a problem he presents a few options of what way you could tackle your issue, you just have to make sure hes being honest. El Maestro himself is a very gentle guy that knows a lot about bikes. He literally is the Maestro that the other two go to for the big answers. I really like everyone that works here. You can trust them.If theres other cyclists in there with you, all arriving at different times, they handle the flow of helping everyone at once really well. Were all trying to get to work or in the middle of a delivery or just trying to get a tube on the way to somewhere or something. They really respect your time here. Youll never be standing in line waiting to buy one thing while the cashier gabs and gabs and gabs about some non-related thing completely ignoring you. Everyone here knows their inventory of whats in store and they even recommend stuff outside of the shop in those rare times they dont have what you need. Cyclists usually dont have time, Maestros never wastes yours.Just save the headaches that the other big deal shops nearby ultimately will leave you with. No buyers remorse. You will feel good about spending your money here. Ive bought so many parts and have had so many repairs done here that lasted for so long. Theyve worked on several of my bikes and for those times where its not in-and-out, they have a really comfy chair to chill and watch bike videos while listening to good tunes. If it takes a day or two if you really messed up your bike, theyve given me loaner bikes, so i dont have to uber to work, and dont have to miss deliveries. If they dont have it, they can order it. What can I say?Just go to Maestros!Yes. Just go to Maestros.
This shop is the best, you can find anything you need and if they dont have it theyll get it for you, customer service is excellent and very helpful
They dont have nothing instock and theyre supre high price and everything. Dont waste your time here.
Always helpful. They definately know about bikes. A trusted shop.
The repair was very fast and the owner is very friendly
They did well in repairing my nephews bike. At first we thought that it would cost a lot but they gave us a discount. Thanks guys!
