Took my vehicle to ACA at 9am on a Wednesday morning for a smog check. Was told that it would be 45-60 minutes. Received a call 35 minutes later that the vehicle was ready. Staff was professional, courteous and friendly. Price was better than anyone else including the coupon on their website.

Ive been here twice. One of the best customer service experiences for any automotive repair place Ive been to! They arent cheap, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. Highly recommend shop for quality work and customer service.

Had a fully charged battery. They told me it was a dead and my alternator wasnt working but neglected to tell me it was a faulty battery fuse which they replaced (without saying anything or putting it in the report) and charged me for a new battery and alternator. Then my fuel injectors were the problem so they got refurbished injectors but never replaced the seals... When in fact it was a burnt out distributor cap that caused the fouled injector because it wasnt firing cylinder #3. I really didnt want to do all the work to fix my car,(i.e. tools and time) so I thought I could bring it the top shop in long beach. Complete waste of money, Ive now fixed all the problems they could not properly fix on my own, and have seen all the mistakes/lies they told me by working on my car myself.

Last night, I realized I needed a Star SMOG Check in order to renew my registration. I found a great coupon for ACA Automotive, so I thought Id check them out. They were very friendly. And, even for it being a busy morning, they had me in and out of there in less than an hour. I highly recommend ACA Automotive for your SMOG Check.

My husband and I are beyond impressed with the service at ACA Automotive. Theyre honest, efficient, and professional. Every staff we encountered had excellent customer service. My car was a little difficult to access to get the clutch repaired so it took a couple days longer than expected to get it back, during that time they consistently updated us on the progress and even offered us a rental. We didnt need the rental but we appreciated the offer. We never felt pressured or uneasy about their approach finding other problems with the car as it happens as many car repair shops.They found other electrical components which needed repair (that I was previously aware off)and we were given a better deal compared to other places. We got all that taken care off through them and I couldnt be more satisfied. Ive been driving my car for a week now and it runs just as smoothly as brand new. We feel weve finally found our ONE STOP SHOP for all our car needs. We highly recommend ACA Automotive.

Went in for a smog check and the guys at the cashiers window were great. However, Victor was extremely passive aggressive and condescending when I went to go pick up my car. I’ve been having issues with my phone/invoice and the way he handled the miscommunication was extremely negative and passive aggressive. Everyone else was great!

They did the smog check but failed me the first time for the visual inspectionIt was because I had a tiny plastic piece near my engine that was fixed with some electric tape. I asked them how much to replace it since they were so serious about it.The boss said under $100 and I asked 4 or 5 times for them to give me an exact number on that TINY little plastic piece. They wouldnt budge.Took it to my mechanic, he found a spare piece from something he worked on earlier. I swear its worth about $5, literally pulled it off, and replaced it in 10 seconds. Didnt charge me a dime.I went back 20 minutes later, they told me theyd have to do the whole smog check again. I asked again how much they wouldve charged me for that tiny piece that takes zero effort to replace. They wouldnt give me a direct answer.So thats why Im giving them 2 stars. Yes, they followed CA smog check policy but their customer service and trustworthiness is not high. If you come back to tell a customer that something is wrong with their car, but cant tell them how much itll cost to replace it...then what are you doing? And why throw out under $100 ??Any mechanic that sees that would know the piece is worth probably $5 and requires little to no effort to replace. I watched it happen with my own mechanic in 10 seconds.They could do a lot better.Side note: they had my car for an hour, plenty of time to come up with an estimate and figure out what piece that was.

Everything you have heard bad about a car repair shop and have experienced yourself if you add them all up times that by 10. They were so bad before they changed their name which I heard they had to because they were losing all their business or the city forced them to do it I dont know which all I know is that they couldnt keep their good old name anymore. I myself will stay as far away from this place as possible look at other apps for posts and read those they all read the same of course theyre going to have a friend or two thats going to put something nice in there or just somebody that doesnt know they got ripped off. They didnt even deserve the time I took to write this just looking out for my neighborhood I guess.

So I opted to take my vehicle here based on the fact of reviews and price range, all I needed was a oil pan gasket changed on my car, these guys at the front desk seem real nice and concerned with your matters and they definitely have a welcoming presence, However the reason I’m only giving two stars is because the mechanics do not care about your property, my car went into pristine and came out with door dings scratches and gouges chips and paint traded from what I assume were other cars being worked on, I just bought this car and keep it thoroughly clean and know just about every inch of the car and what damage was existing and what was new after taking it there, Obviously their business is booming and I respect that they definitely have good pricing and have skills in certain departments however what should have been a 8 to 10 hour job turned into three days, I’m sure my car had to be the first for them with having to do the procedure required, The only reason I went with them was because I work 12 to 14 hour days and I was under the impression that the car would be done in a day which would allow me to go see my wife and children over the weekend before I had to come back down to work since I haven’t seen them in a while, well that did not work out as they have the car from Wednesday evening to Saturday afternoon In which I should have just saved my money, And did it myself. And like I said A lot of the guys are real nice and seem knowledgeable however I was not impressed nor do I want to do any more business with these individuals after my experience I am thankful that they completed the vehicle and got the job done ultimately however I am upset and how they treat peoples vehicles when parked next to one another, I would’ve given more stars and dealt with everything quietly however if you have a car that you cherish and want to keep pristine I guarantee you your car will come out with more dings and scratches then parking at a Walmart in the middle-of downtown LA, Other than that I’m sure smog and all the basic doodads required for maintenance of the vehicle are done rather quickly here at the shop so if that’s what you need come on by

Update/Edit:The day after I posted the review, I was contacted by Adam, who is a manager(might be General Manager?), over my situation.I was informed he had read the review and understood exactly where my frustrations were coming from. He then proceeded to give me updates at the end of each work day until my truck was fixed/ready to be picked up. He also included a discount, which was nice.So despite the original headache, I would recommend ACA with a caveat: Confirm the work paid for is the work completed. This seems obvious now but you cant trust a good reputation as we are all prone to making mistakes.Positive points once Adam was publicly aware of this issue:1. He contacted me, informed me he would see what he could do about providing me a discount and also assured me he would provide daily updates. He delivered on all fronts.2. He didnt request I remove or change this review either, which is a positive in my book. His sole concern was that the situation was rectified.3. When I picked up my vehicle, the guys in the front didnt make me feel like a villain. Some businesses have a tendency to do this when they make mistakes, so that is a welcome sight as it shows the employees are willing to accept their mistakes and move on.So again, I would recommend ACA, confirm the proper work has been completed and good luck.Original Review:As much as I would like to give a good review to ACA, if you are looking for a reliable mechanic, I suggest looking elsewhere.I first took my truck, a 2001 Chev Silverado in the first week of April. According to them, the issues had been fixed and the vehicle successfully passed the smog test.I waited for 2 months until the tags arrived, DMV recommends 1 month but figured I would give them 2 due to COVID delays. After 2 months, I checked with the DMV and they informed me the smog certificate was never delivered to the DMV. After heading down to the DMV with my pass certificate from ACA, we learned the certificate they had given me wasnt for my vehicle. They had mixed up the paperwork, since the other vehicle had passed, they assumed their job was completed. They never actually confirmed the VIN on their pass certificate was the correct VIN reported for the work they were completing.After returning and informing them of the situation, I have learned they never actually ran my vehicle through the smog test or completed the diagnostic they were paid for. Why? Since I returned the vehicle, once they ran the vehicle through the smog test, they found other issues wrong with it.1. They were paid to run through a diagnostic, which they didnt properly do. Btw, they charge $140 for the diagnostic as well.2. Claimed they did and wasted 2 months (1 month if you are only counting the time the DMV requests for new tags to be shipped out before you contact them).3. Now that issues have been found, did not offer a discount despite being the direct cause of this delay in being unable to use my vehicle.4. Will charge the full $120 labor amount for minor repairs.Example: They charge $160 - $40 part, $120 labor for replacing a Standard Ignition Secondary Air Injection Pump Check Valve. Mind you, theyll charge you $320 to change both. A whole 45 minutes worth of work for both valves to be changed and yet, they charge 2 hours at their full rate.The guys in the front are pretty nice but actions speak louder than words. Its clear ACA is un-professional and care little for customer service. If they did, how could they mix up one vehicle for another and charge for work they never actually completed?In the end, I chose to fix the last remaining repairs on my vehicle and have them pass smog just to be done with this. After this situation, I can no longer recommend ACA to anyone unless they want to be charged for work not completed. If that is what you are looking for, then please visit ACA as they are experts in taking your money as long as you expect them to return your vehicle with the same issues it arrived with!

Ive had nothing but great experiences here. My GF turned me on to them since her company used them for fleet service. Ive found their prices competitive but not necessarily the cheapest. But what you get is a trustworthy group who are efficient and friendly. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend ACA to anyone in the area.

I came here for a smog check and was not disappointed. Despite the situation of Covid-19, my check and certification were taken care of in a very professional manner by the courteous staff of A.C.A. Automotive. Everything was done in a reasonable amount of time, about 30 minutes wait.

Went there this morning for a smog test. It being the last day of the month, I wasnt surprised to see a line with several people waiting outside so I was worried that I was going to be waiting for a couple hours. That wasnt the case at all. They had the test completed and I was on my way in under 45 minutes. Very friendly staff, clean office, and had hand sanitizer readily available. They even had clean and dirty pens, which I appreciated!

Paid $3000+ just for my air to STILL not work... was told $2600, then that went to $3000... ended up paying $3400 and didnt tell me till AFTER I came to pick up my truck... when I tried to pick up my truck the first time, wires hanging everywhere, interior parts laying in the backseat (I guess for me to put them back myself)... then after leaving it for 4 MORE DAYS (on top of the week it has already been there), they tell me I need to still pay ANOTHER $1200... are u serious? $4600 ???Its bad enough I paid $3400 and i came back to my car in pieces, but for it STILL not to work?$3400 for you to troubleshoot? And still not fix it, so pay ANOTHER $1200 and you MIGHT have it fixed this time?11 days later and $3400 down the tube, STILL no air...Speechless and horrified all in the same breath...

I own a Toyota Hybrid, and ACA always does amazing work, and their prices are much cheaper than the dealer. It’s great having a hybrid certified shop so close with such reasonable prices. Also, the staff is always exceptionally kind and helpful. I definitely recommend this shop for all of your hybrid needs, especially if you have an older, high-mileage hybrid like I do!

Very Busy Place but worth the wait time

Ive been getting my cars serviced here since 2002-2003 and my good friend has been a customer for about 6 years. Some services are expensive but hey... some things youd rather pay for the simple convenience of not doing it yourself. I will always choose ACA over the dealer...ALWAYS. They are professional and they have provided great service over the years. Due to Covid-19, the main seating area has been cleared out but they have been considerate enough to put a covered area out front. I am just glad they are open. Thanks, ACA.

I brought my Mini Cooper in because the airbag light was on. My car was ready in 2-3 hours and the problem was fixed. I was so happy :) I received the best customer service from the moment I walked in, the person that helped me is David. He was so nice and attentive. I dread the biennial smog check notice from the DMV, who doesnt? I spent a few minutes Googling smog check testing in the area and came across ACA Automotive. I was hesitant to visit after hearing about the long waits, but I was lured by their online coupon. I literally arrived, filled out a form, and waited no more than 20 minutes when I was informed that my car was ready. The staff at ACA Automotive are incredibly friendly and cheerful, which was rather contagious. They are taking the utmost precautions amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, which is appreciated. I definitely know where to return for future smog checks, if not for other automotive needs.

ACA Automotive offered great service. I went to them for a Star Smog check for my Prius and I was in and out of their shop within forty minutes. I decided to go after work, so it was great that they were able to do the service so fast and while I waited. I would recommend ACA because they were courteous and professional. Also, with they followed the COVID-19 rules, which made me feel safe during my visit.

I developed a problem with my vehicle and initially took it to Pep Boys. There was a total lack of communication and after them doing nothing in a 24 hour period I asked for my vehicle and left. I had no idea where to go so I googled auto repair. ACA came up with excellent reviews so that was my next stop. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted by very friendly, helpful folks. They contacted me a short while later and advised me what the problem was and how much they estimated for it to be repaired. It turned out to be a larger problem than they thought it would be and required more maintenance and time. I was constantly updated as to what was going on and the steps they were taking to correct the problem. I was not looking forward to picking the vehicle up thinking that it was more labor intensive than we had expected. When they told me the total I was blown out of the water...It was exactly what they quoted me on the estimate..not a dime more! Everyone was fantastic from the time I walked in the door until the time I walked out and was all finished up. These guys score a 10 plus and Ill be back anytime I need some maintenance done!

ACA has been servicing my car since I moved to CA in 2013. I was looking for a place that could compare to what I was used to in another state and found it based on the reviews Id read. ACA has a great, knowledgeable staff and they always get my car serviced just right and with care as well as reasonably!
