The rear brakes on my 2017 Ford explorer were metal to metal. I called first thing in the morning a week ago and they told me they could get me in first thing that morning. I am very appreciative of this location in layton and would highly recommend them. I plan on using them for all my car care in the future.

I came here because they were willing to get me in right away. My radiator had cracked and so I had my car towed here at night and they had all fixed by the next afternoon. The next day I heard a funny sound, a bolt had fallen out of my rotor, and they quickly got me in to find the source and fixed it before my camping trip. They are very nice there and try hard to get things done as quickly as possible.

Fast, Excellent Service. I brought an enclosed trailer to them at 4:30 pm to see if they could help finish the exhaust on a diesel generator. They jumped right on it and had it finished in about 30 minutes. I thought I would have to bring it back the next day but they got it done right then. Im very impressed.

I had some exhaust work done on my car and I am very happy with the work they did. It sounds a lot better that I though it would so Im more than happy. We brought in our own oil for the oil change, they put it in our car, we moved it to the back seat so my husband and i could sit, they had not screwed the cap on all the way, it leaked all over the backseat. They said since i’m the surveillance video they could not see if the tech actually screwed it on all the way, there was nothing they could do. Poor customer service. Not taking accountability for a techs accident.edit: we had to pay $200 for a car detail to get the oil out, never ever go here if you expect professional, people who take accountability for their actions, so beyond disappointed.

It’s hard to say. I know they can do the work because they fixed a crank seal leak for me, I asked to check the fluids and the coolant was empty so I’ve got a hunch that wasn’t done. I also had the exhaust done which is mostly great except one side hangs down lower than the other(dual exhaust). So I KNOW they can do the work well, but maybe I caught some off days.E: and wouldn’t you know it the same day I made this review I got brownies in the mail from master muffler. That’ll kick them up to 4 stars.

I took in a truck I bought with many issues my truck had aftermarket work done to the engine causing check engine issues. All the staff were so kind and professional. They took it in right away and their very experienced mechanics were able to diagnose and repair all the issues my truck had. The professionalism and quality were outstanding. This place was great! Friendly and professional service, and a clean and well organized shop.

I waited for a call about my car and eventually called to ask a day after they said they would be able to get to it. They said they had called and were waiting for me to respond but I have no record of a missed call or voicemail or anything. Once I called and asked it was finished the next morning and I had no trouble getting phone calls for updates on its status. The wait for me to call was very frustrating.

The alternator in my car went out suddenly, they were able to fit me in last minute to replace it!

I was traveling on freeway and hit something,which in turn made a terrible sound and fluid started leaking from bottom of my car . Of course the panic set in . I called and spoke with Mike .he got my car right in and was so helpful . lessened my stress . Impeccable service I will be returning for my automotive needs . I took my van in for service last week because my check engine light was on and I needed an emission test. Mike and Jory were very thorough and explained everything that needed to be done prior to them doing the work. The prices are reasonable and the service was excellent. I would recommend Master Muffler to anyone who needs any type of car repair. I have had car repair at a number of Layton area shops but this is by far my number one favorite and I am a loyal customer going forward. Thank you for how you operate your business!

Great shop. I’ve been using another shop in Kaysville and decided to get a quote from Master Muffler to replace the cracked exhaust manifolds on my Nissan Titan. They quoted a fair price. Before a I had them do that work, I had them do a wheel alignment on my truck. They drove the truck after to find that the steering wheel was just a little off-center. They aligned it again and did the work necessary to make it just right. The other shop I was going to would have let me take it home and I would have had to bring it back to get it done right. I know, because I had that experience multiple times there. In fact, I rarely had something down there that I didn’t have to take back to have redone. Then I had the exhaust manifolds done and they did a great job. Done right the first time. Good quality work. Mike was great to work with and Allen did excellent work. I’m impressed with this shop and intend to do more business there in the future.

Best communication Ive ever had from a repair shop. Nobody wants their car to cost a few hundred dollars to fix. But they took the time to explain the diagnosis and what was going to be needed along the way. I will definitely be back, (but hopefully not soon 😁)

I am very pleased with the service we received here. We had some major repairs to do on our old vehicle and they took care of us. They even did some of the labor free of charge when we took it back the second time to do other repairs. I was very impressed that they would do that. I will definitely be taking my car here again.

The technicians here were very professional and fast in diagnosing the issue with my trucks a/c, within about 20 minutes after arrival they had isolated a leak in my system. I did decline to have them do the repair, not because i thought it was over priced, but more so because i know the extensive work that goes into this particular repair and although very tedious i would rather just take the time to do it myself to save on the extensive labor charge involved. The staff didn’t try to push me into anything and the guy helping me was very understanding when i explained i simply didn’t have that kind of money to invest at the moment. He still quote all the parts involved so i would have the estimate and told me if i changed my mind they would be happy to do the repair. It’s nice to find a business these day’s that doesn’t try to push people into spending money or try to intimidate them into thinking there’s no way they could do some of these task for themselves.

Had them fix my power steering and they were very prompt in repairing it. Over time the part became faulty at least 2 other times. Not sure why. The last time it happened, it was out of its warranty time period. They called the parts manufacturer to have them cover it. Lo and behold, MM saved me $6-700 in parts and labor to get it fixed. They were great to work with.

The cause of our problem was quickly diagnosed, without charge, and then communicated to us so we could make our decision about whether to move forward with them or not. We took time to consult other places to compare prices to the estimate from Master Muffler and found the quote to be the best option. Choosing to have Master Muffler fix our power steering, we also told them we were hoping to be able to leave on vacation there next day. They promised to do their best to have it ready by the next afternoon and succeeded in completing it hours earlier than we expected. We would definitely choose Master Muffler of Layton again.

I was referred here by a coworker and I am a lifetime customer now! I thought I had some minor issues with my car, but it turned out to be a little more. The guys were great at explaining everything to me. Everyone I encountered had amazing customer service. My vehicle still pulls hard to the right when I break during highway speeds. I had the right side lower and upper ball joints replaced for no reason. I was told that would fix the problem by an employee named Josh.I showed up at 7:45 a.m. in the morning just before they opened at 8:00 a.m. I needed a oil change, tire rotation, brakes, and for them to figure out why my vehicle is pulling to the right hard during highway speeds, it has scared me many times. My vehicle was first taking to the work bay an hour and a half later. At 11:00 a.m. I got a call from Josh who quoted me a price of around $575. Later on I got another call from him and the quote went up because he said he forgot to add labor. Later on after that Josh called me for a third time adjusting the quote up saying he forgot to add my oil change and tire rotation. Josh was insistent that my oil change was only going to be $34.99. I actually told him on the phone I thought it was more than that but he said no its just the standard one. The total bill ended up being around $700. They recommended the lower and upper ball joint be replaced. I called Josh on the phone and specifically asked him, will that fix my vehicle pulling to the right during highway speeds because its dangerous. He said yes itll fix that I asked Josh if you have any AAA discounts and he said yeah I can give you a discount Ill give it to you when you come to the shop. I explained to Josh that Im traveling and I need to be on the road what time will it be done. He told me around 2:30pm or 2:45pm. I told him Ill go there at 3:00pm just to make sure everythings done. When I got there at 3:00 p.m. to pick my vehicle up Josh was nowhere to be found. I asked another employee how long it would be for my vehicle to be ready and he said its about another hour and a half hour ot 45 minutes out. I was shocked because Josh told me 3:00 p.m.Finally at 5:15 p.m. ( I was handed my keys at 5:30pm. It took them 9 1/2 hours to do an oil change, change the brake pads, and replace the lower and upper ball joint on the right side) I went to pay my bill. I was surprised that it was about what Josh had quoted me the third time he had called. I asked him directly and said Josh wheres the discount you promised me. He said he took $15 off for the tire rotation and discounted the oil change. Basically he took $30 off of a bill of about $700. Thinking the oil change would have been discounted from the $34.99 that he originally told me I noticed I was charged $54.95. I asked Josh what happened to the $34.99 oil change? He flat out lied to my face and told me he never said that. Then when one of his fellow employees came in lied again. The other employee who I believe his name is Mike asked me why am I trying to start trouble? He asked me what do you want me to do take more money off?? I could have said yes and got my bill reduced even more but I told him its not about the money, its about customer service. The money didnt matter to me, what I was promised by Josh did. Its crazy to me that when youre calmly asking about certain charges and holding businesses accountable by what they say, they think youre starting trouble. I was lied to on the phone by Josh and I was lied to my face. This may not seem like a big deal but to a business like this Im one of hundreds of customers monthly. They care very little about people like me, to them its a game of numbers and the bottom line. It is necessary for people to speak up when theyve been wronged. If they dont businesses like this will continue to walk all over everybody.The funny thing is, if Josh had just spoke to me like a man and explained the situation, maybe said hey I messed up, I would have been a cool with it. Instead he had trouble looking at me in the eye and stayed quiet.Update: They never even fixed my vehicle pulling hard to the right during braking at freeway speeds. I spent all that money and time there for no reason. Ill be calling corporate.

Fixed an emissions problem. They were fast. Probably not the cheapest place around, but they didnt try to do more than they needed to or overcharge. They were able to easily explain everything they did.

I had some catalytic converters, front strut mounts, tires and brakes done. They were fast and efficient and kept me in the loop every step of the way. Great work. Take your vehicles here every time for anything you need done.

I called to make an appointment for an emission check on a Thursday morning and they were booked up till Saturday so I made an appointment. Then Mike asked if I could leave it with then for the day and they would try to work it in between appointments. They didnt have to do that but they did. They were able to get to it and I had it done before the end of the day. Great service and clean lobby.

I’ve been using Master muffler as my primary vehicle maintenance business for the last five years. Very rarely is there something they can’t fix or diagnose. I’ve even had times where I need a ride home while they’re working on my car. Now this was pre-Covid. I’m not sure what the policy is now. My point is is this team is very fair, does not price gouge you, quick with the services, and gives great customer service. I really appreciate everything they do in a timely manner and would recommend them to anyone I know.

I went there at 3 PM. The staff upgraded my exhaust in 2 hours. They made quick work. The truck sounds great. I notice a boost in power also. Great team!

Will not install anything the customer brings into the store. At first they claimed liability issues and then said it is because they did not make any money on the parts I ordered. Seems to me that business model will not allow for just labor to bring in revenue. I will never be back as they are not customer focused, only revenue focused. They need to find a balance between both. I will gladly take my business elsewhere until then.

The gentleman were extremely professional, friendly and understanding of my cars needs. Rates were very reasonable and my muffler is now in as best condition as ever. I definitely recommend Master Muffler (in Layton) and would use their services again.

I had my check engine light come on for ever. Took it to Master Muffler. They fixed my car and a year later when the check engine light come on again they worked really hard to find out I needed a new gas cap. Yep. Who would know. They replaced it and I wasn’t charged. Great to work with

I dont usually leave reviews, but Master Muffler took good care of me while I was there and I felt like I should share my experience. They were booked up when I first stopped by, so I scheduled an appointment to come back. I had been given some very general, practically useless diagnosis by another shop during my state emission test. Master Muffler took that information, identified the problem, got it corrected, and had me out the door in less than an hour. Very professional. I do know quite a bit about mechanical stuff from working on cars with my dad growing up, so I know enough to know when mechanics are pulling my leg. I didnt get any of that here. Straight talk, honest, and quick. I will definitely be returning as I have future mechanical problems that I cant address on my own.

***AVOID THEM!!! DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!!!!!!*** The final price to replace my brake pads and change rotors was more than 2x what they initially said it would be. Didn’t have much time to price shop so I went with it. A month later the brakes started squeaking. Took it back and they said there was road salt build up and to go wash the wheels really well and it’d be fine. That didn’t fix it. Took it back twice more with no luck. Went to another shop who said the brake caliper bracket needed to be replaced and that the brakes were halfway worn out. Went back to Master muffler and they said they’d fix it for the cost of the part and that labor wouldn’t be charged. Paid over the phone and picked my car up later to find out they charged me for labor. The brakes still squeak over $600 later and even after taking it back to them over 6 times. DO NOT USE MASTER MUFFLER ON MAIN STREET IN LAYTON

I took my 18 Accord into jiffy lube and found out that my oil filter was put on very poorly. So I went to master muffler in Layton and told them about what happened. They made sure everything was topped off for me and everything was good to go!! Great speedy service and very reasonable on price!

Master Muffler here in Layton, Utah were thee QUICKEST I have ever had service done on my Mercedes Benz C300 4matic. They were very nice, and they got done done under 30 min. For a straight pipe weld/install. The price is a little high on just a straight pipe install, I think, but I looked under my car, and it was EXCELLENT WELDS/ WORK, on the pipes. 10/10! Would recommend!!!

Master muffler is probably the most honest and kind shop I’ve been too. My car had a terrible CV axel and unfortunately my axle was so rusted they had to break a couple parts for them to remove it, they called me in advance made sure I was okay with the price and got my okay to do it, they found the best deals on the parts as well so it saved me even more. BEST SHOP IN LAYTON. Service was super fast and detailed. Highly recommend!!

We have used Master Muffler & Brakes Layton location for many years now. We feel they can be trusted and have always given us a fair price on repairs with no hidden charges. We have also found they stand behind their work and we will continue to use them in the future.

$380 for a $150 part. $619 total for a secondary air pump. You KNOW youre getting ripped off when the dealership will do it $200 cheaper. Used to bring three cars here. Never again. Young Chevrolet charged me $445 for the same job. Also be wary if they want to replace a sway bar link. Two vehicles in as many weeks needed one replaced. Coincidence Im sure.
