We stopped through on our way home from Gulf Shores and spent about 2 hours in town. The mercantile was fun if you are or aren’t a fan of the shop. The shop was full of home decor and accessories. It was also dog friendly (dog treats and pets) perfect for my little dog who couldn’t stay in the car alone on a hot day.
You walk through the door and into the feel of an olde general store. Yall they have a walk in cooler! I popped the top on my ice cold bottle of grape soda & the sweet scent of yesteryear engulfed me. The taste! You will find products made in the USA. From homemade style jams, sauces, so many food products, accessories. On to shirts, high Quality leather goods & much more! The staff really made us feel welcome.
We love the Laurel Mercantile! My wife, Bonnie, and I visited there in April 2021 and had a wonderful time shopping there! Bonnie had to get one of the cute headbands that Erin wears on their show! The ladies at the counter are all so friendly and hospitable! They helped make our visit even more awesome! We have been telling our friends and family about the amazing Laurel Mercantile Co. Store!
Its a cute store. It has a nice sign on the building with an antique truck in front. The store has flowers, soaps, cutting boards from Bens shop, Laurel T-shirts, books, kitchen goodies, chef clothes (aprons) and lots of tourists from all over. I took some pics and bought a couple of things. One recommendation is that, you should have some organic sponges to sell in your store next to the soaps. I had to go to Walmart to find one. 🙄
Extremely disappointing. Most items are not priced. I get the impression that if you have to ask, you cant afford it. I did find a price for a kitchen linen apron. It was not a full apron, just tied around the waist and frankly it was simpler than the apron I had to make in home ec class in high school. In reality, it was just a piece of rectangular cloth with a tie sewn on it. It was $46. No thanks. Ill support my own local gift shops. They may be a little pricey, but theyre not ridiculous!
I would give ZERO STARS if I could. I was directed to a military/first responders site to receive $20 off my first order. After entering the code & it stating APPLIED I was charged the entire amount. When I called I was told it was a glitch & given nothing comparable. So order is CANCELED!!!I wonder if those two very sweet faces of the company are aware of the dishonesty going on behind the scenes
I loved visiting the Laurel Mercantile Co. It is full of amazing items for your house, especially if you love the Farmhouse theme. They also had some great t-shirts and canvas bags as well as Mississippi memorabilia. The staff was nice and friendly. The next time Im traveling through Mississippi, I will definitely visit again! Just wish that I could have seen Ben & Erin.
Everyone we met was so nice and helpful. Enjoyed our visit to Laurel, Mississippi.
This mercantile has so many fun items to look at and purchase. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were hoping to see Ben and Erin while we were in town but they were busy filming somewhere however we were able to meet Erins Aunt which was the next best thing. She told us where to drive through town so we could see all the houses they Ben and Erin renovated. We will definitely stop by here again as we drive through Mississippi.
Both stores were really great, but too pricey for me. I got a rolling pin for my sister and it was $55.00 I wanted a headband but couldnt afford it. They were just like the ones she wears on the show. Great friendly staff, store was very clean and well stocked. Glad I got to see it.
Nice shop from the HGTV show hosts. There were lots of home accessories and products made in the USA. Everything seemed a little overpriced. It would have been nice to bring home some souvenirs and/or gifts for people, but the prices made that unreasonable to do.
Great place to find very unique and beautiful stuff
We LOVED our visit. I wish we could have stayed longer. We can’t wait to visit again. Everyone from staff to other shop owners were so helpful and kind. The shop and town are a must see even if you have to make a drive to see it!
I ordered a few things for my husband & I. Im impressed with the quality of every single item. VERY prompt shipping & well packed. I will definitely be ordering again. KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK WITH YOUR SHOW & STREAMING!!! LAUREL MERCANTILE ROCKS!!
We visited on a Monday, so crowds were minimal. The selection was great, and I appreciated the American-made goods. The store was beautiful, and I wish I didnt have a kiddo tugging on me to hurry up, because I would have spent even more time in here!
Not understanding why prices were so high yet some of the merchandise was not very durable it seemed. Some of the purple headbands had what looked like hot glue strings hanging off and the laundry boards were not American made. There is someone who makes those in Ohio but they are too worried chasing fame instead of actually backing up their products.
Good first stop in Laurel very helpful staff that had a lady in the rear of the store that gave out maps of all points of interest in town …even told us where they were filming in town
Totally built around fame of HGTV Home Town. More of a ladys place. My wife bought two shirts and a print.
Love the candles dish towels bens coffee pods im hooked on this store
We ordered a few items, love them all, but we have to rave about the Scotsman Flannel Shirts! OMG! So soft, made with quality in mind and the fit is perfect for my true country boy husband! Finally a great shirt that fits well and will last! We just ordered 2 more! Shipping was quick and well packaged!
Nice little store. Bought cute t-shirt.
Lots of pretty things. Almost nothing priced, I assume that means its too expensive. The girly version of the Scotsmans store.
First place we went as soon as we arrived in Laurel. We absolutely LOVED it. The staff was great s/o to Mary and Zion!!! In fact we loved it so much we went back again the next day and bought even more !!!
Cute little store but not thrilled with merchandise. They need more small, useful items for souvenirs. Unfortunately kind of pricey for me. $25 for a coffee mug. A lot of items dont have price tags.
Laurel is so fun. Some businesses closed on Mondays. Many MS and American made products. I bought the artist made tea towels.....gorgeous. Picture ops in and outside store. Visit for sure.
Lovely little store! I know this is not the year to expect a wider variety of merchandise, a few more items would really be nice. Candles and bath products, kind of overdone. Kitchenware -nice!
Hey All It was a road trip Saturday as we were in Laurel we stop down at Laurel Mercantile and we went in little shop is very quaint has a lot of unique products in great ideas for decorations and Home Improvements they also have a front porch swing that would look awesome on any front porch they even have the kids rope swings like I swing on when I was a kid Wife and I will be going back soon its worth the drive to Laurel to see this little off the beaten path shop so go to Laurel and Enjoy
We are very disappointed in our visit to the Mercantile. Though the store is cute the merchandise is extremely over priced. We had to ask the associates for prices on everything since we only found one item in the store labled with a price. We wanted to buy a picture but none were priced. By then we were somewhat irritated so we gave up. We then went to the Scottsman store. Much of the same overpriced products were for sale there. A few additional items specific to Ben were also there. We love Erin and Ben but will not return. Very disappointing..
Cute store with a nice variety of items. Friendly staff. Definitely worth the stop!
Cute store, friendly staff. Quiet little town.
Fun and eclectic shop. Very lovely building with green space outside, a view of Jolene the Airstream, and several murals celebrating Laurel.
Loved the scented candles and tea towels with lyrics to hymns on them.
This place is so cozy. You can definitely see and feel Ben and Erins touch. The selection of goods was great. I was impressed by all the different things that they had. Everything was also very affordable. I will definitely be back!!
Cute stuff, but nothing overly special that was available in the store at the time of my visit. Considered some items, but everything is clearly priced for tourists and uber-fans of the show. Most of the staff seemed to be bothered to be there. I get it...retail sucks, but youre supposed to hide your contempt. Probably wont make a special trip out of it, but would probably stop by again if I passed by.
Nice tourist store. Not as many paintings as I would have liked to see. Lots of headbands like Erin wears.
Great store, cute items & very friendly staff
My parents watch the show so we stopped at this store on our trip down to FL. Super CUTE store, I wanted to purchase literally everything in there. Erin has great taste. Will definitely start watching the show now! 5/5
Was so looking forward to spending the day here but after waiting for 2 hours discovered they were closed for Father’s Day! I would’ve had no problem with them being closed but they should’ve posted a sign on the door so us and the parking lot full of people would’ve known and not waited hours! I could’ve been home by then! We came by to check hours to be sure and said 1 pm so we grabbed a bite and came back and waited! Needless to say made for a blah anniversary trip
Awesome place to visit plenty to buy great photo ops all around
We loved visiting and shopping here.
A nice store with unique items, a real hometown vibe
We came in an RV on Dec 23rd. We visited on Feb 5th. Absolutely exquisite. Like going back in time. So many things my grandmother had, unfortunately I could not afford, they had this 4 pc copper canister set I adored just like my grandmas but it was $49. Courier & Ives place settings, silverware, much more. Tees, bags, tree swing is so cool, so much more. If I could of met Ben,Erin & baby Helen that would of been a dream. I solely recommend if youre in the area do stop in, youll be glad you did.
Went with my honey and her friend. It was their main reason for the trip to Laurel. Quaint, reasonable, popular. Everyone in the town was very nice and welcoming. Except Pearls .
FRIENDLY FOLKS. WONDERFUL VARIETY OF CLOTHES AND OTHER BEAUTIFUL MERCHANDISE. JUST WONDERFUL.
What a nice experience. The staff was helpful and the store was beautiful
If youre a fan of Home Town on HGTV, this is Erins place. Not my cup of tea, but my wife wanted to visit and shop a bit.
So fun! Variety of local mdse and artisan-crafted goods. With a wide selection of Scotsman apparel and tools, its a great place to shop for the man in your life! Staff consists of practical, down to earth folks who are ready to help. Step outside and get a photo by Bens big blue truck, and take a short walk over to the General Store for food and sundries, more Scotsman merch, and see Bens actual workshop! We were there on a filming day but Ben and Erin were out of town. Still, very cool!
Visited on a Monday and it wasn’t to busy which is perfect. I got a headband, postcard, and a t-shirt and the t-shirt is so comfy! I framed the postcard to keep it as a memory! We walked around downtown Laurel and loved it! Everyone is very friendly and kind!
We bought a room spray for our Rv. Lots of goodies to choose from! Glad to see that they are revitalizing the downtown area. Currently lots of construction in downtown. Laurel is growing!! Love the show!
We got to meet Malorie today and she is such a sweet young lady and so nice. Was so excited to meet her that I forgot her name.
The service provided by this company is marvelous!I ordered a Ward 5 T-Shirt online and experienced problems with the delivery of my order. I ordered the goods in October and it got somehow stuck and lost at Customs. I am located in Canada. We exchanged very friendly and helpful emails a couple of times to discuss the situation. It was very clear by tracking the package that it arrived at customs but never left the location after. Eventually they fully reimbursed my order and promised me that they would try to send me my product after Christmas, once the holiday rush is over with. I received all my money back immediately. In January they tried it again, sending me the same product but this time completely free!!. No charge was made to my credit card, just like they promised (even though I offered them to use my own FedEx account). It arrived today, after again experiencing delays/problems at customs. And when I received the goods, the box included a very nice additional gift to make up for the bad experience I had in 2020.I never ended up receiving my order that was shipped in October. Tracking information proved that. After 5 months, I guess someone at Canada Border Services Agency is walking around in it.Throughout the experience, the people at LMC were friendly, helpful, respectful and honourable. I will buy from them again, without a doubt!
Where to even start today? I went to the Mercantile earlier this morning and was nicely greeted by the two associates. The store was cute just like the town but that is the only reason I’m giving a one star review. I noticed every time I picked something up there, there were no prices. When I go to a store with no prices that normally makes me think the items are too expensive and not in my budget. So I would ask the associates for the prices and just as I thought they were out of my range. Why only cater to 1/8th of your crowd? A $250 cutting board is just ridiculous, this isn’t William Sonoma. Even then I don’t think William Sonoma would charge that much. And things started getting interesting. An employee quit on the spot and walked out. No idea why but right before I left maybe an hour later another employee QUIT ON THE SPOT TOO after talking to a younger blonde lady... would love to know what’s going on with the company. But for Laurel and Ben and Erin’s sake I hope they start figuring things out and get it fixed.
Absolutely loved our visit! People are so friendly. We will be back.
Nice little store. The only thing we saw that had Erins name on it was the head bands she wears. Place is really expensive.
Awesome place and most all merch is USA made.
Lots of beautiful things and ladies working there were very friendly and helpful.
What a terrific store! The supplies are unique and fun. The staff is friendly and helpful and it feels like they are the welcome committee for Laurel. Its always a great store to visit for out if towners! The staff knows everything about what to see and do in downtown Laurel.
Awesome shop and town!! Everyone should visit Laurel and the Mercantile!!
So many beautiful things .
Buzzing with all kinds of good home and art things along with Erins headbands and paintings to buy. Plus t-shirts candles, kitchen things and great people working there who are extremely helpful.
Love all if the stuff.
Fun to visit. Saw Mallory and several other people associated with the show 😄
Very quaint but prices were too high . Didnt buy anything
Ben and Erin have stocked this store with neat items soap to posters, was visiting from out of town and would say this is a must stop store if you have the time.
Cute little shop lots of neat things and owned by one of my favorite TV couples..
Friendly staff and great atmosphere. But..I didnt get to see Aaron or Ben. Oh well, maybe next time.
DelightfulGorgeous itemsCharming staff
Its a souvenir, gift, and DIY book store. Nice stuff, friendly staff, decent prices.
Super friendly staff and beautiful store.
Loved the store; it really was an experience.
Laurel mercantile was a wonderful collection of treasures for your home. If you are a fan of the HGTV series Home Town, then this is the place for you.
Loved getting a front row seat to the Home Town set and shops.
Visited and the experience was not my favorite! Perhaps I was comparing it too much to my amazing experience(s) in Waco, TX but the town pretty much rolls up at 2pm. Pearls diner and hog heaven both were closed by the time we rolled into town at 210. The mercantile was SUPER SUPER small and the two employees were nice but definitely not outgoing. If I’m going to drive 8 hours to visit a place, I want an experience! And last of all there wasn’t much to buy, even when we visited the general store. A lot of the stuff had the same look and font of the items I’ve bought in my previous trips to Waco. The town was cute in places but I got the vibe I wouldn’t want to be here at night.
I just ordered two mugs for my husband for Christmas. I got the Christmas mug and the green one with your truck and a tree. Ordered on Sunday and received them today (Wednesday). Not only am I happy with the fast shipping, but the beautiful mugs!!!!We will be ordering again!!!!!Hopefully one of these years we will be able to come and visit!!!!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good experience and my wife loved it!!
