Brakes Plus is terrible and I will not be coming back. I had brake issues and when I first brought it in, I said it sounds like it’s coming from the front passenger side; they looked at it and said it was the rear brake pads that needs to be replaced. OK, I have to trust them on some level, but the sound never went away and started getting worse. I was able to get another appointment only to show up and be told I wasn’t on their schedule. The worker tried to assist me anyway and went out to my car and drove it around. He came back and said he didn’t hear anything so I asked him “well what is it that I’m hearing?” So I asked him to ride in the car while I drove it and he wouldn’t get in my car stating he didn’t want to get dog hair all over himself…mind you he already sat in the driver’s seat which has more animal hair than the passenger seat. Nobody else came back out for 10 minutes and I was talking to another customer and he said they were all inside eating pizza. So I asked the customer if he would like to ride with me to see if he could hear the noise. He agreed and after stepping on the brakes after going 50 feet, the customer heard the noise. So I ended up taking my car elsewhere and will never come back to Brakes Plus.

The gentlemen working here are all fantastic. I was running late, got there about 20 minutes after they closed, and they were nice enough to still help me out so I could have my car back right away, instead of making me come back during business hours the next day. Great service, they dont try to sell you on extra services you may not need. Very polite staff. I have been coming here for years and will continue to do so.

I brought my car in on 2 different occasions to have my AC compressor, condenser, and alternator replaced. I was concerned that the AC parts will be hard to find because of how old my car is. However, Joel found the parts for my car without any issues and now I have a perfectly running system after 5 years of not having AC!Then I took my car in and the shop discovered it was my alternator and battery that’s creating issues. Joel got my battery warrantied out to save me a trip to the auto parts store. My car is back to running strong again!Andrew helped check me in and out on both occasions. He was pleasant and explain things from the diagnostics to me so I understand.All in all, I’m satisfied with the service. Thank you Brakes Plus!

Called this place since I thought there was an issue with my power steering fluid. Brent was able to get my car checked out really quickly and offered some suggestions on why I might be experiencing issues. Keith walked me through after they did an inspection of my car and explained everything to me- and gave me some suggestions of things to lookout for. Keith and Brent were great and will be recommending them for any friends or family in need of car service.

Brakes Plus was recommended to me by a reputable Tire Company as I needed a 2nd opinion on the safety of my vehicle after having been told by the Service Manager of a Mazda dealership that my tires were in such poor shape that all 4 tires needed to be replaced immediately and that they were dangerous to drive on. Additionally I was told by the dealerships’ Service technician there was probably only about 1,000 to 2,000 miles left on my rear brakes and they were so low they should be replaced very soon. Being told your vehicle is dangerous to drive.. well, let’s just say I was concerned about the safety of my vehicle and terrified to drive it so I made an appointment right away with Brakes Plus. At Brakes Plus, the manager personally drove my vehicle to test the drivability, then the technician inspected my brakes, suspension, steering and alignment. I was told not only was there nothing wrong with my vehicle’s alignment or steering/suspension, but that I still had 50-60% of use left on my rear brakes! In fact, the Brakes Plus technician said everything they inspected appeared to be in tip top shape. Coupled with the Tire companies inspection, the Brakes Plus team completely alleviated my anxiety and fear regarding the safety of my vehicle having been told it was too dangerous to even drive by the dealership. The Brakes Plus team is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, trustworthy and forthcoming. The Manager is very to the point, personable, calm and most important, genuine. And all of this they did as a courtesy at no charge when they could have easily just tried to sell me some new brakes or an alignment at the least. I rarely ever write reviews but honesty and trust are worth commending. I will definitely be coming back here to get new rear brakes and other services.

I had 2 rear calipers replaced and was charged 641.00! No pads, no roters...just 2 calipers. had no option but to have them done, my brakes were shot. I sadly didnt take the time to research.

Running late (as usual) for my appointment, I phoned to ask if they could still get me in. I was told if I could leave it for a little longer, they would get it done (i was grateful because the squealing of metal on metal was causing headaches and anxiety). Had hubby follow me to the shop, as I didnt want to sit idly for hours, and went off to run errands. I was 20 minutes away when it was finished, but they were closing in 10. They took payment over the phone and left my keys with the guys at the shop next door to keep them safe. I wish I could remember names of the various people I talked to so I could give kudos. Everyone was nice, friendly and professional. As far as I can tell, they did an excellent job, and the cost was significantly less than the other 4 places I had checked into. Highly recommend.

This Brakes Plus experience was so nice that I made sure to get the mechanics name so I could write this review even before I was asked to consider writing one. Firstly, it was nice that this store had recent reviews to look at. What stood out to me about this experience was that there was no bs around trying to sell me things I dont need or convincing me I needed more than I did. As a woman thats a problem that happens often in shops. Im well educated and fairly experienced in dealing with these matters so can usually tell. This shop was so up front and matter of fact with me, it was very refreshing. I was even advised to only have my front pad and rotors replaced - after he pointed out what was causing my issues. He even let/encourage me to poke my head into the wheel well to see it. I was also given a time frame to have the rear axle checked again. Like I said I appreciated this mechanics approach so much I got his name, Keith W. and he is actually the GM. While the cost may have been just a tad higher than what I could get elsewhere, its definitely worth that to have an upfront and honest experience. (Also worth whatever little bit I could have saved to not have to go searching or take a chance on an unknown shop.) My quote was fully explained to me with transparency and I felt comfortable and confident that my car would be well taken care of. Also pleased to say my braking issue was totally resolved by the replacements (as expected after the root of the issue was explained to me). For others looking for an idea of pricing, my service was about $500 for one axle pad/rotors and a fluid flush for an elantra gt (and was complete from appoitment check in for a brake check to out the door in just over an hour). The flush was a recommended service I chose to add knowing the cars service history. I never felt pressured to have any of the services and was given a matter of fact report of my cars condition. Keith was outstanding and I will be back for routine maintenance as well. The cashier was also doing a good job even though he was still learning - he made sure to get assistance when needed so that service wasnt held up.

Paid these guys almost $1,000 for them to incorrectly install new rotors, new ones needed 6 months later after hardly driving the car during Covid lockdown. They lied to me about it when I questioned them having got a second and third opinion from different shops, conveniently just in time for the warranty to run out.I’ve just spent another $1,000 getting them done correctly at a local, trustworthy, professional shop in Golden. Won’t be going back to any Brakes Plus location again. Useless.

I came in today for an oil change and to fix a lug nut and they actually caught a major issue left by another repair shop, Kieth walked me through all the issues related to the problem and gave me some good advice to get it fixed. If the other shop doesnt repair these issues Ill be bringing my business back to this location, Ill also come back for any future oil changes, ect. Highly recommend!

Run away, dont walk!I scheduled an appointment with Brakes Plus on West Colfax for an Oil Change and to have them replace the windshield wiper motor on my passenger side. I called to ask them how the vehicle was coming along and if they could replace a brake light bulb that I had remembered burning out. The service person on the other end of the line proceeded to give me a quote of over $2000 which included rear brakes, front brakes and rotors, a new water pump, and a new oil gasket. The employee said a few things that made me feel un-easy or like I couldn’t trust them he said “Well, aren’t you overheating?” I had told him I wasn’t and he proceeded to tell me he was “Very surprised by that, I cant believe it” he said. Then he asked me if I had noticed any leaky oil on the ground, I told him that I was sure I hadn’t and he backtracked a bit and told me “We can wait on some of this stuff, its not so urgent that we have to do it all today, we can do some of it later...” Knowing that I was going home for Easter I told the guy I wasn’t doing any of that work today, just what I had originally brought my car in for, an oil change and windshield wiper motor repair. I could sense the person on the other end of the line didn’t like me telling him no, and from that point on, that service person did not deal with me. Another employee called me up to let me know my car was finished, and a different person rang me up as well. I did see the person I originally dealt with and it felt weird and tense while I was waiting for them to ring me up and I felt like he was glaring at me. When I got to my home town in Wyoming, they debunked the idea that I needed a new water pump or oil gasket and did my front and rear brakes and rotors for under $1,000...Im so saddened by this overall experience because when we moved to Denver 7 years ago, I went to this location on a whim and we received very good service there. Then about 3 years ago, I had gone in for an oil change and was given an estimate for a new radiator to the tune of about $700. The tech told me that my radiator was cracked, that it did not pass the pressurization test and that I needed a replacement. I told the tech that I had no intentions of replacing the radiator because I wasn’t leaking coolant and my gages weren’t showing indication of running warm, smell of coolant, etc... I just want to take this opportunity to point out that I never did replace this radiator, the radiator I had in my car on Thursday, April 1st is the same one they recommended I replace 3 years ago, and I just think that shows that the estimates these guys give are bogus, because if it was broken last time, why was it not worthy of mentioning on this last visit. I am just so disappointed because, I feel like these guys prey on your fears, when you go into a service station, you want to feel like they have your best interest at heart. Instead I just feel like Im there to help them meet their company mandated quotas. I wont go to this location or any other brakes plus location again, I’m willing to go to a smaller Mom and Pop shop and paying a bit more knowing that they have my best interest at heart. This was your one chance to re-capture my patronage Brakes Plus, and you blew it!

Came in twice within 1 year. First time my wheel was shaking when braking. Replaced calipers, rotors, and brakes. 9 months later the same wheel shaking was happening. Had to have my rotors machined this time. When I asked why the rotors were bad so quickly when we replaced the calipers, rotors, and brakes the 1st time, they tried to blame my driving habits. I havent changed my habits from my last car to this one and never had this issue. Then they said it depends on the car and that some cars are more prone to rotors warping...obviously trying to come up with random stuff. I havent even driven my car that much in the last 6 months cause I tore my acl and had surgery and my wife and I work in the same area and just drive hers. Also havent been driving it in the mountains. I dont think they know what they are doing. Never coming back.Update - Ive increased my rating to 3-stars because the DM reached out to me to see how he can help. Im not looking for anything, but I am glad he reached out, clarified a few things for me, and is going to provide coaching to his staff mainly on the managers arrogance when customers are just asking questions trying to understand.

I only needed two rotors resurfaced. They quoted me $50 over the phone. I get here and its now $117. The original quote was if I brought my rotors in, not on my vehicle, which they failed to mention over the phone. If I could have got the rotors off myself I would have taken them to OReillys and paid $10 apiece. I have now been here for over 2 hours to again get TWO rotors resurfaced. I highly DO NOT recommend.

The general manager ( TJ ) of this location is the best. Hes fair and honest. John who was my mechanic was very upfront with what I needed right now and what I might need in the future. This will be my go to place for my vehicles needs. I would suggest it to my friends and family.

I took my car here for a brakes inspection because Im new to the area and I was looking for a garage that specialized in brakes. I was advised of everything that would need replacement, with specific information about how much life these parts had left. I then picked which tasks I could afford to have done at that time and they were completed on time. The next day, I returned to get the front rotors replaced. I received a call from this shop in the afternoon and was informed that the car was ready to be picked up. When I went to pay I was informed that the front brake pads had also been changed out because they had 15-20% life left and it saved me the shops cost of labor to have them done while the rotors were done. I had at no point requested that work to be done. At no point was I asked if they could go ahead and change out those front brake pads. I can change brake pads and my neighbor can do it for me too, given enough time. I needed the rotors replaced sooner, thats all. Ultimately they compensated me for the $59 brake pads but still charged me $70.99 + tax for the labor to replace them.

The service was great but they quoted me $6oo and something for the ball joints on my 08 Sierra I take it in 2 weeks later and its nine hundred and something dollars Parts when they quoted me were $400 and something for part and then somehow mysteriously $600 and something when I took it in ? definitely not taking any of my cars in even for an alignment!!!

I called last minute needed a quick Radiator flush, they fit me right away.

Had brought my vehicle in for service including brakes. Had an issue with the brakes afterwards but they took care of the issue and had me on my way quickly.

I took my brand new used- Rav 4 to different mechanic to have the struts replaced. When I got home I realized that transmission fluid was leaking like a broken faucet. When I took it to Brakes Plus Lakewood I had the best experience Ive ever had at a mechanic. The service took way longer than they thought because the previous mechanic had installed the wrong part and it was stuck ! I had to leave the car overnight but I was leaving town for a few days that evening. I really did not want my new car to be parked outside. TJ understood and drove into into the garage each night.These guys show you the issue and show you what they are doing to fix the problem. They treat you like part of the process! The kindness and service is impeccable! Highly recommend.
