I stopped in because I thought there was a nail in my back tire. Kevin came out to check it out. Turns out it only needed air. He checked all of my tires to make sure they all had the proper air pressure. Kevin was so nice and friendly to come out in the cold weather to check all of the tires not just the one. I can always rely on this location for all of my car needs.

I went in there last week for an oil change and tire rotation. Dangelo and Kevin helped me out and did a great job. Dangelo let me know that my battery was putting out a low charge which I did not know. I will definitely be back for a new battery soon. Overall great experience.

My windshield wiper came loose and turned sideways. I stopped in to see what was wrong with it. The manager Kevin looked at it and discovered the clip came undone. He was very nice and showed me what happened and how to adjust it. I’m so thankful he was able to help me without an appointment.

I moved to St. Louis 2 years ago and am thrilled that I found a trustworthy and reliable mechanic. I feel like I am getting an honest appraisal and am getting a good deal. They have continued to fix my cars reliably and I will continue to go to them for years to come.

I think the service people are friendly though its difficult getting simple work done without being upsold. I cannot recall going for an oil change or simple repair and not being told something else needs repair. Second opinions at other garages do not support the assessment. I thought perhaps it was me, but when I try to be very clear about buying one and only one tire, they cant stop trying to sell me 2 and 4 tires. Over and over.

The Kirkwood location is always the best. Kevin the manager is always helpful to me. The rest of the team is exceptional. Scott is my favorite technician there.

Kevin was wonderful! He and the team made my day with an emergency tire repair. I had just come from a very unhappy experience at a shop across the street. Without knowing what I had already experienced, they provided incredible service, and they were very upfront and transparent. No tricks or gimmicks, just great, friendly service!

UPDATE: After reading my review on Yelp and Google, The District Manager for Car-X Tire & Auto called me the next day to address this issue. I was satisfied with the solution he offered to remedy the situation, and he was very professional about it. As a result, Im changing my review to 5 stars as Ive always had good service here.Avoid buying into the Family Oil Change package. Ive always had work done here for my wifes car. Ive always had a good experience with previous management; however, the current manager is a different story. I bought new tires and prepaid for a 3 pack Family Oil Change package in January 2018. I took her car in today to get an oil change (along with some other service work), and brought in the receipt which shows I paid for this package. The current manager informed me I should have been given a card for them to mark at each oil change. I keep all repair receipts in an envelope in the car, and there was no special card provided at the time. He refused to honor it, so I cancelled my appointment and went right next door. Very short sighted on the managers part as he can quickly see in the system that I have spent a lot of money at this location. Not any more.

You know, I am very serious about my car, so I was a bit upset when I went and had an oil change done to come to find out my car was leaking oil afterwards pretty badly. The thing is, they didnt just take my car in and look at it and band aid the situation, Kevin and his team spent lots of time out there in the shop on my car searching and trying to understand the issue with my car leaking oil. I really appreciated that, and thought they were very professional and truthful about the issue. I will definitely be back to have them continue to work on my car. They are very honest and trusting!

I took my car to this location with a terrible smell coming from somewhere inside. I had taken it to Nissan 2 weeks prior and they flushed the AC system without truly inspecting WHERE the smell was coming from and charged me over $200. The smell did not go away and continued to get worse. I was desperate and made an appointment online at this Car X. Kevin, the manager, and his technician took their time inspecting my car and came to the conclusion that I had a mouse (mice?) in my car under the carpet. Kevin sat down with me and told me exactly what I needed to do to rid my car of the smell and how to mouse-proof my car (I park outside). He was so kind, knowledgeable and patient with me (after I finished freaking out). When I went to pay for their service, he said there was no charge! What? That just doesn’t happen anymore! He has a customer for life. His expertise saved me a lot of frustration and the smell is getting better!

This is the new lower passenger side ball joint car x replaced on my vehicle for $500 ...after 2 different mechanics opinions and pictures of the new part...( if it is new they messed it up putting it on very wrong )... I was told that the pictures Im showing them probably arent from my car, so Im a liar and the other two auto shops dont know what theyre talkin about...oh and that I can make an appointment for when theyre not busy to check it out on their time and convenience...doesnt matter I already paid 500$ for this work

I have been to many different tire and auto repair shops as my car has quite a lot of miles on it . Every single one with the exception of this one had some type of up sell scam . You can always count on Dobbs doing the routine of trying to sell you all the things you really don’t need to do . There are a host of others just as as bad . That’s why i felt it necessary to right this review about how pleasantly i was surprised by the total professionalism of Kevin Raddtke and his team at his team at the Kirkwood location . Everything was perfect . No up selling, promised the car in a hour and it was ready earlier, offered some useful advice and really no hidden motive outside of being a professional who actually cared about doing a good job for his customer as well as representing his company as if it was his own . Had more work on my car then I thought, tires where worn, brakes where wearing on one side much more then the other and battery at 50% I had to get to school and an interview, so I didnt have time to stay. The guys at Carx paid for a rental so I wouldnt drive in the rain with those issues. Super nice guys!

We recently had to have a major repair performed on our mini-van, complete motor replacement. Tim and Clayton were very helpful, and patient as we were deciding as to whether we would have the work done. When we decided to have the work done they had it completed in a reasonable amount of time. My wife had some concerns recently about the repair, and they took a look at it right away. Everything was fine, but they took our concerns very seriously. I have never been as comfortable with a repair shop as I am with this one. The staff is always working with the customers best interest at the forefront.

Tim and his team do a great job thus the reason why we have all of our cars serviced by them. You can be assured when you walk in they will be honest with repair needs and not just try and sell you something that day. Tim has built a great team and wants you as a customer long term.

They just lost my loyaltyIve been a fan after making two trips there where they solved a minor problem but wouldnt accept payment...now I consider myself a regular customer, and do like their service and consider them honest and reputable car repair specialists.This would be a five-star review if it werent for the fact that I could smell cigarettes in my car after I picked it up. I dont think anyone smoked in my car, but whoever moved it to & from the parking area had enough smoke in their clothing to leave a trace in my car. Yuk.

I have been taking my cars to Tim at Car-X for the last several years and never had any issues. I went in today as one of my tires had a slow leak. They immediately pulled the car into the bay and went to work. They just get it. Tim and his team always make you feel like you are the only customer they have which is great. If you ever need work on your car or tires, please stop by and talk with Tim.

This location is very convenient for me. However the vague explanations and high prices of work have made my most recent visit the last. I took my truck in for safety and emissions tests. Being an older vehicle I knew something would be tended too. I got a quote for a new muffler and tailpipe for almost $800. Ironically I took it to another shop for the work and walked away with a $430 bill out the door. Taxes included. So I returned for my re-inspection. This time I passed the safety and failed emissions. I didnt have a check engine light on so I assumed everything was OK. Apparently a ready check sensor caused it to fail. When I asked what the remedy was for this I got there is nothing we can do. Wait what?! Are you not the professionals that tried to get me to shell out almost $800. It needs some miles on it I work from home and live less than half a mile from the shop. How many miles? No answer. So if I get pulled over, I wonder if the officer will accept, I need to put more miles on it before I can renew my tags Even though they are close, this will be the last time I go there.

As always I am impressed by the service Tim and his team gives to me and my family each time we come in. I like to stress Tim out by saying repair what you think I need and do not ask my permission. He and his team have earned our trust many times over. You cannot go wrong working with this organization.

I have highly recommended this Car-X location in Kirkwood to all my friends and family. The service and honesty we have received from Kevin and the staff there have been incredible. A year ago our repair shop was going to charge us four times the price to change a lightbulb of our driving lights as they claimed they had to remove the bumper to gain access to the bulb. We have switched all maintenance for our multiple vehicles to Car-X. They are always quick to get our cars in for service and always finished in a timely manner. Pricing has always been very reasonable and the work done right the first time.

This is the third time Ive walked into Car X with an urgent repair need and gotten courteous and IMMEDIATE assistance. Today, when I pulled into a full lot with my rapidly deflating tire, I was expecting an all day delay. In spite of being fully booked with appointments, though, the Car X manager got my car in, repaired and ready to drive right away. What started as a stressful unplanned day off work ended up being a minor inconvenience due to the kindness and efficiency of the Car X staff. Awesome. Just awesome.

I came by today with a car issue that was outside of the responsibility of what CarX does on a regular basis. It had to do with my hood latching properly and since it was a Saturday there were no auto body shops open. However, Tim Farmer was still happy to help as he felt it was unsafe for me to drive with this issue considering I also had 3 of my children with me and there was a high risk and likely probability that the hood could fly up when I was on the highway. He happily fixed the issue and refused to charge me for it. This is the kind of service that earns a life long customer. Thanks Tim!

The first time I came here was to have my safety and emissions tests done. The service was very fast and friendly! Not only did they not try to load me down with a bunch of stuff that needed fixed; they passed it immediately. My second interaction was to get my oil change, once again, some of the best customer service I have ever had from an automotive establishment. Tim has definitely won me over as a continual guest.

Went for an oil change and was told my transmission cooling lines were leaking. They quoted me $360 to replace lines and $150 for a flush. I had it checked out by two trustworthy family owned places. Both verified NO LEAK. I hate this practice of telling you there are things wrong when everything is fine. They tried to steal $550 from me.Unfortunately I purchased a family pack of three oil changes, so I am still determining if I will use those oil changes and give them a chance or ask for a refund.... if I give them a 2nd chance and this matter is addressed I will update my review

My experience with the Car-X in Kirkwood was awesome!My wife and I have been going there for oil changes and basic maintenance for a few years now. Weve always experienced great service. The employees and management have always been helpful and sincere.After having my check engine light on for a few months, I finally got around to getting some work done on my 04 Trailblazer. My acceleration was poor and I could hear a rattling sound underneath my car every now and then. I (finally) took it in to get it checked out on a Thursday with no appointment and they were able to diagnose the problems within an hour. My vehicle never had any tune ups or other critical maintenance done to my knowledge and has about 245,000 miles on it. I needed 6 engine ignition coils replaced (only 2 of the 6 were functioning properly), my gaskets for my valve cover were flat causing oil to leak in places it wasnt supposed to, and the catalytic converter was shot.It was a lot to get done, and admittedly beyond my knowledge, but after a thorough explanation of my vehicles situation, I was able to get these problems fixed in a timely fashion. Their 6-month no interest financing was a big help, as well.It was a bigger job, so I got the engine issues taken care of Thursday and the catalytic converter replaced that Saturday (to avoid being without a vehicle on Friday). Considering my transmission fluid was brown and I had issues with acceleration, I went ahead and got a transmission flush.While it was a fairly major overhaul, I didnt want to hunt for another vehicle and spend extra for repairs unknown, and the overall condition of my vehicle is pretty darn good for having over 200,000 miles.Now, my Trailblazer runs smoother than ever before with no check engine light, no acceleration problems, rattle is gone, and when I crank the heat up and Im at a stop light my car no longer shakes when its idling :)I really appreciate the time the guys at Car-X took to explain the issues and discuss my options, and that they completed the work quickly. Working in the service industry is tough, and unfortunately people are more often compelled to write something negative than to take the time to write about a positive experience, but I have nothing but good things to say about the Car-X in Kirkwood! They even gave me a ride home so I didnt have to wait around!

Even though I’ve moved 45 minutes away from this location, I still drive all the way back to get my car serviced. I love the guys here, they are honest and consistently trying to help people out when they need repairs made.

I was sad when I saw where it was located because Iive south city, but when I got there the staff was soo helpful they went out of their way to get me taken care of. Its nice to see a group of mechanics that actually care about people and are just trying to rip people off. Me and my girlfriend had to go to the hospital late last night because we thought she was in labor turned out she was not but when I got out of the hospital my tire was completely flat. I drove from gas station to gas station trying to air it up but by the time I got to the second gas station the tire was shredded. I had a spare tire in my trunk but not a Jack or a four-way I must have taken it out at some point in time Car-X just happened to be right across the street from the second gas station I stopped at. One of the mechanics apparently goes to that gas station every morning and the cashier told me to wait until they opened up and they would help me out so when the mechanic got there the cashier told him what was going on and he rushed across the street to set stuff up and help me out. I went across the street to the shop and they had brought the car in for me changed the spare and offered to check all of my fluids and everything for no cost. This is a great group of guys and I would trust them with my vehicle anytime

Nice enough guys working there. However, it took them an hour and a half to do a scheduled oil change. Then, they correctly identified bad rear axle seals on my 2014 Jeep but the quote was just shy of $1000. I took it to a shop that specializes in Jeeps in St Charles and they did the work for a little over $400 which included replacing the axle bearings. How a quote is so far from that of someone else is beyond me. Car X *might* be able to successfully change your oil and rotate you tires. I would never trust a quote for anything else.
