This place is a popular spot in Kieih, there is a drive through if youre not interested in going in though. The pastries are great, the almond croissants are amazing and their cinnamon rolls are buttery and flaky. The coffee is strong (4 shots in a 20 oz) and everything is lightly flavored. If youre used to the sweet drinks of Starbucks or similar, this isnt what youll get here without making some special requests. If you enjoy a nice coffee and dont mind spending a little extra for it, its a great place to go. You should definitely try any of their pastries if you can as theyre top notch.

Excellent coffee. I tried the NOLA, my wife has espresso. The good: The NOLA was good, but I think I didnt need the sugar or chicory - it obscured the taste of the coffee. The espresso was amazing. Service was fast and friendly. Drinks came out faster than expected given how busy it was. The bad: by 8 am most of the pastries were gone. In short: Well be back earlier tomorrow.

Came here on a whim after driving by it and my goodness. What a spot. I can’t remember what I ordered since it was on the seasonal menu, but I remember loving it ( I hate coffee). My sister who drinks more coffee than I do says this is one of the best coffee spots she’s been to. She also bought some of the ground beans here to take back home. Highly recommend if you like coffee.

Kind of difficult to find this shop as its tucked away in the corner. At first I went to the drive through but it took too long so i backed out and went in person instead. The vibe here is very hip and trendy. I liked it. Unfortunately, my coffee was very flat and lacked flavor. I had the hot Salty Cram and was disappointed. Others in my party were satisfied with their beverages. Such a shame because the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Friendly staff. Came here around 7:15am on a Saturday morning. A few people sat outside and there were a few people waiting for their orders, but nothing too crazy in terms of a crowd. I was able to just walk up to the order window and order my regular coffee. Great coffee! Even with a sleeve, the cup was hot to the touch, which made it a little difficult to walk and carry it, but I did enjoy the coffee. I will probably come by again and maybe try some breakfast item.

I got an iced mocha with oat milk, which tasted really good! I got the crossaint turkey sandwich. I was a little disappointed. I expected it to have more than just meat and cheese. Theres also no wifi. I just always expect that in coffee shops. I tried one of their fruit smoothies. It was one of the better smoothies Ive had (I drink quite a few, for reference). The atmosphere was very calm.

My husband and his co-workers regularly purchase beverages from this location. Yesterday, sadly he had a bad experience with the employee serving him. He ordered the same drink he always orders. Mabe she misunderstood what he wanted so he received the wrong type of drink. He told her about the mistake and said he wanted the blended drink. Very simple fix. He didnt drink any was only handed the cup. Could have very easily blended the drink and had a satisfied customer as usual. Instead she said he had to pay for the messed up drink, and she made a new one the correct way and charged for that as well. If he wasnt on a short break Im sure it would have been much more of an ordeal, but he needed to leave, with no trouble.

The coffee and mocha here were EXCELLENT! Food items- only had a couple breakfast the croissant sandwiches (not single croissants), a few types of bagels and two vegan donut flavors. We got the churro flavored vegan donut and it was yummy... not sure if it was a little stale or if that was supposed to mimic the texture of real churros, but it worked well. Also, it looks like they invested in a heavy-duty air purifier so that sitting indoors with the air conditioning would be safer in these COVID times. There are also a couple of 4 tops outside in front. :)

I can only tell you one thing about Akamai Coffee and that is its got the most delicious toasted coconut latte on Maui! Its a masterpiece that even the most jaded hipster would agree is worthy of five precious Yelp stars. If you look for it they call it they call it the Aloha Latte. The interior vibe is kind of going for a trendy industrial look thats not quite comfy. More tables and art please. I want to enjoy my delicious latte and daydream. I was surprised to see that they have a drive through window just like that well known coffee pushing mermaid from Seattle.

Akamai Coffee is simply awesome! My husband and I were back on island and made a point to visit since we became fans of this beautiful coffee shop a year ago. I didnt even realize I never finished my review until I checked in on Yelp and it said I had an unfinished draft for this location! Well good thing all my notes were there to finish this much deserved 5-star review.Though they didnt have it this time, last year we bought a bag of their Water Process Decaf beans, because they use the Swiss Water process to decaffeinate their beans as opposed to the chemical process most other companies use. Look it up if you arent sure what Im talking about. Most decaf coffee is made by soaking the beans in a solvent, usually methylene chloride or ethyl acetate. Pretty disturbing, right? So look for Swiss Water method if you want decaf, and youll find it at Akamai Coffee! Plus their beans are 100% Maui grown, so forget Starbucks while youre here and drink locally grown and roasted, delicious Maui coffee! On the most recent visit we also tried their Matcha Latte, which unlike most places was not presweetened so it had a pure, rich Matcha taste versus the sugary versions at other places. I just asked for a dash of honey which made it perfect! The banana bread was tasty as well, though slightly over baked/dry. Dipping it in our oat milk latte made it better!Love the interior of this coffee shop with all the plants and their basket chair swings! Dont let the office building look of the exterior deter you, its beautiful and modern inside. They also sell great merchandise from travel mugs to T-shirts and trucker hats which make for great Maui souvenirs too!

I was severely disappointed with the service I received as well as the drink I purchased October 2017. On the first day arriving in Maui, I was excited to try a local coffee shop, and reading the reviews on Akamai, I wanted to give it a try.Upon entering, I spoke with Kimberly, the owner of the coffee house. Not knowing what to get, being a tourist, I asked her what the most popular drinks were. She responded that most customers know what to get--Her response was not helpful. Once I decided upon ordering the 16 oz Akamai Features which was flavored with Macadamias, I requested to have light ice. What I got in the end was the opposite--the ice filled 3/4 of the cup (please see picture for reference). Although the drink was tasty, it only amounted to a few sips before I finished the drink. For 6 dollars, thats a hefty price to pay.Instead of being one of those customers that requests for a redo, I just accepted it knowing I wouldnt be back. I am all for supporting local coffee shops and would have returned, but the first experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. In the end, I visited Mill House Roasting Co., further north, on more than one occasion, as the value and service I received was better.*To reiterate, the quality is there and clearly the shop is popular with a majority of positive reviews. I hope to see them continue in their success, and hope my feedback can prevent my experience from happening with future customers.

Not a place to enjoy alone — no WiFi. As a writer, coffee shops are usually the perfect environment to work but WiFi is very important. This shop has purposely chosen to not have it available so I am clearly not the intended clientele. Although their desire for “connecting on a human level” is very admirable, the seating is sparse, the decor is sterile, and the music sounds more like a low-key club. For grab-and-go (which is what most other customers appeared to be doing), the Akamai Coffee Co is fine. Their brewed coffee is good: smooth, flavorful, not bitter. The banana bread was a little dry and mild in flavor but decent.

I visited Maui with my family a couple weeks ago and we stayed in Kihei for our trip. I had searched online for good coffee shops close to our condo and found several good ones within a mile or two. But while looking for another coffee shop I stumbled across Akamai, it was kind of hidden in a small office building.I decided to give this place a try, not doing any prior research online. Something was calling me to give this place a chance, and Im so glad I did.My first impression of the inside was very clean and modern, with a touch of green foliage across the wall. It reminded me of some of the coffee shops back home in Seattle. And apparently the barista working that day had lived in Seattle for a short time as well, and that opened up the conversation about their coffee.I was given a quick introduction to Akamai and how they roast only local Maui grown coffee, which was exactly what I was looking for initially when searching for a good coffee shop nearby. Its all organic and is one of the few growers on the island that doesnt spray their crops, which appealed to me. But once I tried the coffee, I was blown away by the quality and flavor.I was sold on the first sip, and I went back every morning for the next week to get my morning coffee. I didnt even want to try any other local coffee shops, I had found the best coffee in Maui!!!I even bought one of their hats to take back home to Seattle, and everyone is asking me where I got it. Its a black Akamai Coffee Co. hat with a pineapple on the front, and its really comfortable swag. I also grabbed a bag of the Maui Mokka to take back home, which was highly recommended by the barista as her favorite.Anyways, I highly recommend you give this place a visit next time your in Maui. If youre a coffee connoisseur such as myself, then you will be rewarded with amazing service and the best coffee at Akamai.Thank you very much for the experience and making my trip to Maui even better!!!
