My go to for daily coffee fix, nothing bad to say, doing what they do best with greatness. Buy 3lbs of coffee and get 1 free deal was perfect for bringing back home to brew and give out as souvenirs/gifts, they also have some baked goods, Maui grown coffee, and they know how to make a proper/real cappuccino (proper meaning right ratio of espresso/milk in the 1 small size) and the cold brew was perfection. Service was great and staff (family owned?) was also 5 stars!

We were visiting Maui for 5 days from DC and stumbled upon this coffee shop once we decided to not wait in line for Kihei cafe across from it. This place is amazing - from their hot vanilla lattes to their iced coffees, everything is flavorful and some of the best coffee we have ever had. We felt so lucky to have found this place, we ended up going every day! The staff is really friendly and even the baked goods (banana bread) are fantastic. Even if there is a line it moves fast so hang tight and you won’t be disappointed!!!

I am a classic coffee drinker where a house drip defines the quality of the beans roasted. Lava Java makes one fine cup of jo! I refuse to buy burnt coffee from mass production Seattle based company and love the local flavor. Lava Java is my morning go to place for fantastic coffee. Highly recommend!

So good that I’m coming back to write a review 3 months after our visit. Since I keep sending friends who visiting the island here, I thought I should probably leave a review where strangers can see it too. The coffee itself is delicious! The dairy free milk selection was great too; try the macadamia nut milk. But an excellent coffee served by excellent people? It really can’t get better. My ringer daughter and I came here for coffee (for me only, sweet treats for her) almost daily while my older daughter was surfing. It was a perfect place to grab coffee, chat with the baristas, enjoy a treat out front, then walk over to the beach and finish my cup while watching my favorite surfer find her flow. We’ll be back next time we’re on Maui. Thank you for the perfect embodiment of the Aloha spirit!

Prime time drinks, treats and service at this spot!! Crew is full of aloha and quick to get you your order. Atmosphere is chill and beachy.The Owner, Scott, is super nice and personable. Hes a born and raised local so if you want any tips or advice while on vacation he is a helpful and kind resource.Pro tip, pop over to Lava Java while youre in line at Kihei Cafe for a delicious drink, nice to have while you wait and because you only get what you order from Kihei Cafe so dont expect coffee or other drink refills.

The coffee had a bitter taste, so I wont go back there again. I was in your shop around 2:00 today, my wife and I ordered an iced mocha to share, we drove off before we tested the drink. My wife said, the drink was so bad she wanted me to stop at McDonalds to order her a frappe. I told her I would try to finished the drink we received from your shop, due the bad taste, I could not finish it. The guy who made the drink was from Idaho. The drink was so bad I dont what another drink from your shop again.

We were fortunate enough to have an airbnb close to this cafe during our vacation in maui. My husband loves coffee, so we made a point to visit every day and try something new. Everything was delicious, the customer service was great, and they opened early enough to accommodate our adjusting sleep schedules. Get the frozen mocha. Its the most ordered l drink here by far, but for good reason - perfectly balanced with a bit of cream and sugar and loaded with roasty chocolate flavors, this may be the very best coffee slushie Ive ever had. Any lines move quick because the staff is on top of their game and they know the island well, so be sure to take any recommendations they may make! This place is a reason to return to Maui all by itself!!

Small joint near a couple of other shopping areas. Good variety to their menu without being overwhelming. I had the peaberry coffee which is one of the smoothest Ive had. Staff was very friendly and attentive despite the longer lines.

The coffee here was delicious and the service once we got to the counter was awesome! We did have to wait close to half an hour in line on a Sunday at about 8am, so plan accordingly if you’re coming at that time.

Busy place with great system. You order and move along (one cashier, one coffee barista). Nice cozy coffee shop next to Ohana and Kihei Caffe. They have small seating area outside where you can enjoy your coffee. Theres a cute village in the plaza that you can walk around also. I got the iced Irish cream latte and coconut latte. Both drinks were tasty.

This place was SO fantastic. My mom and I stopped by after breakfast and Patrick gave us delicious samples the moment we walked in the door. He helped us pick out the perfect coffee beans to bring home. Then, when I asked what drip coffee I should try he not only suggested peaberry without a doubt but then showed us photos of peaberry trees in his yard! Then he grabbed a bowl of peaberries from the counter and let us taste one and told us all about how and why he makes delicious coffee from them! The coffee was absolutely delicious and, as Patrick will tell you, half the price of Kona coffee (and twice as good!). This place was everything I wanted in my coffee experience in Hawaii!

Peaberry espresso was sweet and rich, like Hawaiian chocolate in a cup. Latte was meh. Great vintage art postcard selection!

We tried the frozen mocha and loved it so much we bought it immediately. It was delicious and fueled our 3-mile walk down Kiheis beaches. Highly recommend stopping in and trying their signature drink. The host is very friendly and shared a number of fun snippets about growing coffee in the island. Stop by, and you wont be disappointed.

I have so much respect for this company and for what they do. First off let me say you need to pick up some beans to take home if you are serious about coffee.The owner grows his own and the main grower they use is some sort of mad genius of botany. Try his teakberry I think its called. Best cup of coffee Ive ever had- smooth and mellow and super potent. No acidity.Try the iced frozen mocha- their signature drink. The store has great service and theres all kinds of cool and cute souvenirs.

When you walk into the store, it might feel like a souvenir or tourist attraction BUT Im so glad the owner stopped me from walking straight out. I tried their coffee and I know why everyone gives this place 5 stars. It is absolutely amazing! Im not an espresso drinker, but after that espresso shot - Im hooked. Unlike other coffee shops, the owner is extremely passionate about coffee and knows answers to ever question you might have about his coffee. Make sure you ask about the loaner program for a Moka pot and never walk out without a coffee in hand.

Lava Java Coffee Roasters are situated on the south west side of Maui. Perhaps I expected a little more than I shouldve and not that their coffee was bad in any shape or form, just thst the price did not justify itself. I felt the store was asking over market price and that was even for cigars that one could find at the ABC store down the road for $3 cheaper. That said, coffee tasted good.

Amazing espresso, okay coffee. Small place but fast service. Went everyday during my trip. A little pricey but that is normal for the area.

This place made our honeymoon all the better. Their coffee is sooooo good. I got a latte every time, usually hazelnut, but their blended signature drink we sampled was good to. Something about the coffee made their lattes soooo smooth and delicious. Careful though, 3 different times we went, there was a sign on the door saying shed be back in 5-10 minutes... and once a man had already been waiting 15. Otherwise, the place is amazing
