Having gone to Main Street Auto for 8 years, I can highly recommend this place! Mike and his team are top notch - they are transparent, they take the time to explain and show whats going on with the car, the prices are very fair, and everyone there is super friendly. I’ve been there a few times the first time it was a big job they changed my intake manifold coil packs and plugs which is not easy by any means . The price was affordable or reasonable cost effective pick one they did s great job . Recently my check engine light came on Mike told me when to bring it in turned out a clamp on radiator hose rusted thru (which was a factory original 2008 ) The guys fixed free of charge !! They are a very honest shop and reliable I can’t say enough good things about them ... If you need work on your vehicle Main Street auto will treat you right.

As promised, Im changing my based on new information. Went back in two days ago and got my car back today. They were very friendly and got the job done in a timely manner. What I thought was a leak from the brakes near the front left tire, was a different problem all together. The problem I had fixed was two brake lines near the back of the car. As always, they did the job for pretty cheap compared to most of their competitors, which is a very nice thing to do in a college town. I have been going to them for most of my problems since moving to Kent. There has never been a problem they could not fix and all of the work they have done on all of my cars have been fantastic.

In a word, it’s all about trust. I’ve been going to Main Street Auto for over 10 years and never had a bad experience. Mike and his team have always been straightforward, kind and responsive.

This place is great. I first took my car to them last year after visiting one mechanic who told me that I had a bad head gasket and that it would cost me $3000 to fix. I called Main Street Auto and Mike assured me that it would be less than half that if they fixed it, if indeed it was a head gasket at all. Turns out, it wasnt even the head gasket. They charged me a reasonable price and it was done in a couple of days. I just took my car there again today for a clanking noise. They got me in quickly and had my issue solved same-day. They are straightforward and dont try to upsell you or claim a bunch of issues that dont exist to swindle you out of money. I will happily keep giving them my business and recommending them to others!

Mike is the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with. I have been taking my cars to Main Street Auto ever since a dealership quoted me $1,700 for work that Mike was able to do for less than $500.I fully trust that whatever repair recommendations that are made are necessary and the price is more than fair.

I have never taken my car to this shop before. But my car was making a weird noise in the front end so I took it here because I’ve heard great things. They knew I was a college student at Kent State and offered me a 10% discount. Very pleased with their customer service. Highly recommend.

Best ever! We use Main Street Auto for all of our repairs, as do most of our local family members. We have been long time customers who have gotten plenty of work done on both of our family cars. As long as we make an appointment we never have to wait long, and the prices are extremely reasonable. My father was a “car guy”, and I trust this shop like I trusted my dad to make sure our family is safe. This place is WONDERFUL !!! My daughter attends Kent State and her car started acting up on her. Here I am (mom) in Mansfield, not knowing what it could be or who to trust to take it to so I got on a Kent FB site and asked for recommendations. A lot of people took time out to respond or give their opinions. How nice ! Anyhow, a few people mentioned Mike at Main Street Auto so I looked up the reviews and I liked what I was reading . I called and spoke to Mike, a very nice guy who happened to be the owner. I made an appt. and he had it fixed the SAME DAY and was very reasonably priced !!! Im here on a summer contract. Mike was absolutely amazing and a great guy. Got to my vehicle same day told me what it was. It was something not worth getting fixed as it was more than the car took him my car and he took car of calling a scrape yard and sold it for me with no extra charge. And as for the several bad reviews the appear to be almost three years old. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Mike is very helpful. He does not push you to have your car repaired with them. He gives a lot of other cheaper options such as buying parts somewhere and repair with them. They also give you advice on the phone when needed.

My Mom has been a customer here for years and years. I saw that a couple of reviewers feel that this business takes advantage of women and/or students. I have never experienced this at main st auto while I was a student and they have always treated my mother wonderfully. Yes, they can be a busy place so if you have a time constraint I definitely recommend making an appointment and being up front about whether they can accommodate your time frame. Their prices are very reasonable and they have frequently gone out of their way to assist my Mom when she has had an immediate safety concern about her car.

Ive done business with these guys for years living in Kent. Theyre extremely honest and stand by their work. Their prices are very fair and better than other local mechanics.The only problem is that theyre extremely busy. But that is a sign of a great business.

I had an alternator replaced that was not easy to access. These guys really care about their customers. They have very fair pricing. I would highly recommend them.

I just had the best experience at a car repair shop that Ive ever had in my life. Everyone was extremely friendly and they fixed my check engine light being on which was a problem that Midas created and refused to fix for any less than $800. I will never take my car anywhere but here. Thank you Mike and everyone else who works at this business. Their honesty and amazing work deserves 10 stars!!!

Just got my car back, and the whole experience with main street auto was WONDERFUL! after dropping it off, they called the next day with what repairs it needed (which was great because that means no surprises when you get the bill when picking it up!), and gave an estimate for how long it would take to finish. the price was MUCH lower than i expected for needing all new brakes for the front. really happy about that!!! i would go back in a heartbeat, and i have already recommended them to some friends! really happy with this place.

I first became a customer in 2016. I have to say all of these guys are amazing they never make you wait they have always addressed any and all of my concerns immediately and being the daughter of a mechanic they absolutely are honest and have integrity I will never use another auto shop for repairs if there are any other issues that come up they will call you inform you and let you make the decision on what you would like to do the communication is awesome I can honestly say every employee that I havent dealt with has been fair and honest and they have always been up front about any repairs

Highly recommend Main Street Auto. I came here because my check engine light came on, they were able to look at my car, and make sure the problem wasnt serious right away without charging me until my car was fixed. The biggest selling point for me was their ability to find and fix the problem in a day and get my car back to me before work in the morning. They were very flexible and did a fantastic job of working with my hectic schedule. These guys are honest, fair, and timely.

Fair price for quality work.

Wow. I was in a rush yesterday to go to a Halloween party, and my stupid low-pressure tire light came on shortly before I was supposed to leave. I have a new car, and I havent had to fill the air on the tires yet, so I was stressed about having to do it quickly. Main Street Auto Center said to just stop by and they could check the pressure and fill any tires that needed it. They were SO awesome - friendly, quick, efficient. I offered to pay them for it, just because they took time out of their busy schedule and everything, but they said they were happy to do it for free. So impressed by their professionalism. :) They even explained to me my cars individual psi requirements for the tires. If I ever need any services on my car, I will consider going here before anywhere else. Its too bad that the other auto shops in the area try to take advantage of younger people like myself, but you can be sure if you come here that they are genuinely trying to help you.

I am a parent of a KSU undergrad. Based on various reviews, I called this shop when the brakes failed on my daughters car.They took care of the issue quickly. Explained the issue thoroughly (with sketches), and charge a very fair price for repairs.My daughter raved about her experience and will go back for regular maintenance. I am grateful, that there is a qualified repair shop in Kent that does not take advantage of a poor college student!

Mike does an excellent job explaining procedures and answering questions. He is very clear about timelines and costs so that there are no unfortunate surprises associated with repairs or maintenance. You wont be disappointed with quality of service found at MSAC.

Ive been taking my truck here for general maintenance and repairs for about 3 or 4 years now. Everytime the staff has been upfront and helpful when discussing what needs repaired or replaced. They always give me multiple options for expensive repairs and their service is top notch. I dont plan on finding a new repair shop anytime soon.

These guys are great! I am not the smartest when it comes to cars and have been taken advantage of by other chain auto-care shops. These guys explain everything to me as many times as needed until I understand why my car is acting up and what will need to happen to fix it. They are also really good at working with me to get good deals on parts so that I am not paying an arm and a leg. They are really helpful, are willing to assist in an emergency, and refer to my car (2001 Honda Accord) by its name, Ethel, when they talk to me. Its really funny. Id definitely recommend taking your car there!

Very good. Went to Flynns for a repair and they said $2000. Main St Auto found a way to do it for $300. They care alot about good customer relations and saving you money! I will say though I went in to get my key and the dude checking me out literally stopped our conversation to answer the phone while I was just trying to check out... twice! Super rude I thought but not a big deal. Can’t complain otherwise! Saving was dope and they charged my battery. they do little things for free. My dad is hard to impress business wise and he was quite satisfied with their service. He says 5 stars. Totally recommend in general! Just dont be surprised if you get trumped by a phone call lol

Although they have fair prices and have a decent turnaround, I later found out that my car had way more damage to it than what Main Street actually fixed.I dont know if it was incompetence, but my car had thousands of more dollars in repairs then what they actually fixed. My engine was totaled from blown gaskets and they went ahead and did $1000 worth of repairs on everything BUT my fried engine, which I found out later needed replaced. Because of this, I could not afford to replace my engine once it broke down again after being repaired at Main Street Audio Center. They actually could have made more money off of me if they knew that my engine was actually needing replaced.

Awesome place! I had a terrible experience with Firestone. When I saw the reviews for this place I switched. Got me in immediately, very fast service, and only charged me for the part. Would not even accept my tip for being so great and not charging me labor! Great to know there are places who are not just out to get your money (firestone).

Main Street auto is kinda like family owned pizza as opposed to coporate pizza. Anyways they don’t try to upsell you ever, like sometimes I wish they would make suggestions but I appreciate that’s not their business model. They fixed my car really fast, knowing I need it for work. They seem to be good people.

Im new in town and a friend at work referred me to Main Street Auto. I had my 2003 Elantra towed there for some repairs. The were especially fast to call me back with accurate estimates and timelines.They offered me several choices and recommendations that were well supported. The service was great, the prices were great and my car sounds better than the day I bought it.

These guys are legit. Have been here three times, they tell you what they see, what they want to do, and how much itll cost. Would recommend 10/10.

Im telling the truth about how they treated me from this place. As a woman and a student, knowing nothing about the car. They didnt even check my car and made a lists of what wrong with my car and I have to get it fixed and the price ( very expensive) i.e., a brake front and rear. They told me to have many things change in my car, otherwise things will go bad and unsafe! I got their papers to have my mechanic friends looked them up for me, it turned out everything was fine. I just needed only a break shoe. Also they changed my oil and didnt even change the air filter. The batteries holder came off and hang in the engine. So basically my batteries just sat there under the hood without nothing holding it. Moreover, after this place told me that they checked everything throughly took 6 hours from waiting. My friend found out that my tire had a nail on it and it will be exploded sometimes along the rode. They didnt even see or notice it! what a thoroughly 6 hours checked? nothing but false detection!Another complaint: I understand that your shop is so busy and everyone has to make appointment to get the car checked. So I made appointment after I walked in to compliant about the noise on my brake and was worried about it as a student I have to drive my car for my internship between Akron and Kent. They turned flatted face and said No, we cant do everything today, you have to make appointment. Okay so I made appointment and a week later I got appointment to get my car checked. Well what happened was the day that I was there to get my car checked in the office. One guy walked in and said something happened about his car and he seemed to know the owner, the guy name Mike said yes he could bring the car in tomorrow! I was like Wow, they totally treated everyone different Why that guy didnt have to make appointment like others? that means they are double standard.I wrote all of these from my experiences and I had nothing personal against people who worked there. I just wanted to let people know the true and how unfairly I got treated over there as a woman and a student. I actually took my car there because I read all good reviews from all their customers. However, if they still treat people like they treated me, they need to be improved. Dont just want to take money from people, I can see how it goes when you worship money instead of God. You dont even care what you do to people even though its wrong to get their money. I forgive them from what they did to me, but truly they need to be honest with customers.P.S I used to be a Fire Stone customer, they are expensive, but at least they are honest about it and finish things in timely manner. And again this is the true!!

Here is a quick idea of what I went through with these guys...They seem all nice and cheerful up front. Do not be fooled. People gave them good reviews on here probably for easy things like oil changes and tire rotations.AVOID THIS PLACE!I bought a complete exhaust system and suspension system from parts I found online. (This is the only way to do it if you want to save a lot of money) and just wanted them to install them. The job took 3 days because of how busy they are. Note: the busier they are the less they will care about doing a good job on you car. Found this out the hard way...The suspension install went on fine. But...after a new front suspension you must get an alignment. They said my car broke their alignment machine. And they will call me when it is back up and running.The exhaust....They installed the exhaust and let me pay for the whole thing without telling me some parts did not match up. So when I went to leave I started my car and heard a loud exhaust leak from under the car....Went back in and told the guy and he was confused. He put it up on the lift and pointed out the parts did not match up so there was a small hole and that they could fix it....later....Drove off and heard a deafening rattling noise from a metal piece on the exhaust hitting the frame of my car, with the radio all the way up I could still hear it.Waited over a week for them to call me back to get the alignment and the exhaust fixed...nothingCalled them and they told me...Oh ya the alignment machine is fixed we just have to fit you in to our busy schedule, maybe next week....So they just forgot to call me like they said they would and now I have had to just deal with the shitty job they performed. THEY DID NOT EVEN TEST MY CAR OUT TO SEE IF THEIR INSTALLATION WORKED!!!If these guys had any loyalty to customers and wanted customers to be satisfied so that they recommend business to their friends and family, they would have MADE THIS RIGHT WITH ME. I had people ask me where to take their car and told them to avoid this place at all costs...

I am really disappointed and I will not be using their services any more. I would not recommend this place at all. I think they took advantage of me being a woman and a student with no money.I went there with a small problem, they kept coming up with issues that needed to be fixed, and that I dangerous to drive, so I agreed to do all the repairs they said my car needed. two days later and nearly a $1000 in costs, the check engine light is on again, and a quick check at auto zone showed it is the same problem I went to fix in the first place!!! another check at Firestone showed the same result... !I went back to the shop and told them that and they said it is not our problem, we did not do the engine diagnosis and we will do it for $80 something dollars!.!!!!! Also I complained about some weird sound I started hearing after I got the car back from them and they guessed a new issue that would cost me additional money.

My car sat in the spot I parked it for 3 weeks (actually 3 weeks and a day). I called them and they seemed to have forgotten about it. Once they actually remembered the car was there it took another week. It isnt acceptable to take 4 weeks to repair a car. I will never go back and have taken my car elsewhere since.Plus, they kept the old engine and, I assume, scrapped it themselves for profit. The money they made off my old engine was not deducted from the overall costs. I could have taken the engine (it was mine after all) and scrapped it myself.
