Ahh, this is a complicated one. I think they are probably very competent mechanics. I cannot speak to their pricing. They could improve in the area of communication. A single phone call to me would have probably avoided all of the issues Ihad. I was 10 out of 10 mad for a minute, but they turned it around and I left satisfied.

We’ve use the Carstar team at the E. Walnut location for two decades (?). Have always been professional, fair, honest and timely. The work quality is excellent. I hand wax my vehicles a couple times a year, so very picky. They always return the vehicle clean & polished. I just picked up my truck from some bumper work and I’m pretty sure they buffed out some scratches on other areas. It looks great! Would highly recommend.

Wonderful!! Terrific!! Cant say enough good things about them. Went in to have an estimate done, for which other body shops quoted me $850+, which were scrapes to the drivers side front panel. The estimator went in and got his compound and rubbed and rubbed it in and it was like new!! No charge!!! Who does that any more? Wonderful place to take your vehicle!!!!

They were not speedy in anyway but they did two things that in my opinion were above and beyond the scope of the job they were paid to do. I wont tell you what those two things were because i wouldnt want you to expect it done to your car. Suffice to say it made what would have been an average 3 star review shoot up to 5 stars.

Carstar was incredibly helpful in getting my vehicle safe and driveable again. Carstar was amazing from the quote needed for insurance purposes to answering all my questions with honest answers being this was my first experience with an insurance related accident. Dale at the front desk is very friendly, knowledgable and willing to help the customer! Unfortunately, my car gave them technical issues (Cadillac & sensors) in which my return date got extended for four days but they were determined to restore the vehicle to its original state before the rear end collision occurred. Had an incident with a deer that destroyed the grille, bumper, and left the hood unable to be closed. Brought the car to Carstar Kalamazoo. They estimated the damage which was emailed to me. I in turn sent the estimate to the insurance company. The insurance company cut a check for the amount of the estimate. Carstar of Kalamazoo started work on the car on a Monday and by the next Monday the car was completely restored.Carstar daily emailed me where they were in the restoration process. The day the car was completed, an email was sent indicating the car was completed and I would be getting a phone call to that effect. Picked up the car this morning, the paint matched perfectly, and looks better now than pre-accident condition.Thank you Mike, Brian, Dale and Carstar Kalamazoo Crew, you did an excellent job!

Terrible experience here and this isnt even where I got my car fixed. When I came to them for a estimate the older lady at the reception desk was SO RUDE. Very nonchalant and uncaring about my situation. She barely wanted to greet me when I walked in, as if I was interrupting her or as if they dont care for my business. The vibe overall was plain bad. I would never waste my money with a place like this, ever. I dont care if they did have a estimate for a few dollars cheaper than a different body shop, Id rather be treated like a valued costumer and not a bother since I am spending my hard earned money. Go to Petersens Body shop instead, trust me.

Fast service and fair price

After having my rear-passenger side taken out (my car was still drivable) by a texter a month ago, my insurance told me I had three options to get my car running once more. After reading the awesome reviews about Degroots; I chose them! I really wanted to like this place; such a cute husband a wife team, a family-owned business, friendly service when I dropped off my car; it seemed like this was going to work out great! When I dropped off my car they listened to my concerns; the trunk was smashed in, my car was veering to the passenger side, etc. So friendly and nice...My Honda Civic is about 11 years old, and after the initial estimate came through from my insurance company I was shocked they didnt total my car. We were just a few ($300) hundred dollars away from the KBB value of $4500! Degroots told me they use after market parts to save costs so I thought, well, if its that great deal, maybe I will have them work on my front bumper too (that had some damage from our winter-from-hell snowbanks)!Fast forward: after delaying the promised date once, I get a phone call TODAY (the final due date) saying my car has a cracked windshield but is ready to be picked up. Due to the crack, I could either pay them to have the windshield replaced or file a claim with my insurance (who would hire them to replace it). Apparently I had a stone chip that caused a radiating crack in the month they had my car. The funny thing is, when I dropped it off there was a bullseye stone chip, but not anywhere near where the HUGE crack is in my windshield!!!Now I work in the service industry, and it seems to me that if you have a customers property and it is damaged while in your possession.... shouldnt the customer be notified? Instead, I get an excuse of: this could of happened at any time, it was caused by a stone chip and then they proceed to complain about how difficult it will be to repair my windshield because it has been done once before. By the way, there was no mention of any chips in the initial condition report. EXCUSE ME?I picked up my car today, with out even an Im sorry about the crack running across the drivers side of my windshield!! To make matters worse my car was not even remotely clean on the inside, my drivers side front tire is almost flat, and my car is STILL veering to the passenger side.Im scared to drive my car. I wish they would have just totaled it instead of milking the insurance for more than the initial estimate.It seems once again, insurance companies with preferred repair shops are NOT to be trusted. It is a scam. They will not fix up ANYTHING but their own pocketbooks.I am so sad to have to write this, because as an employee of a family-owned local business I believe in shopping small, supporting local business, and taking care of customers even when it means I have to admit I was in the wrong. I guess my expectations were too high; unfortunately a card for free car-washes and a guarantee doesnt seem to mean a thing to this business.
