Was 45 minutes away and wanted to shop after work and he gladly stayed open a little later to accommodate me, not knowing if I would make a purchase or just keep him from getting home on time. Had a great time at backdoor records their collection is immaculate. Paid my respects to Saint Tarvo and bought a ton of records and cds. They also have figures, puzzles, stickers and shirts for sale as well was turntables/record players. Excellent selection, comfortable layout 10/10

Johnson City is fortunate to have a store like this. Staff are very knowledgeable about the vinyl industry. They have a diverse selection (used, new, picture disc, imports, all genres of music). They also can repair turntables. Staff is very kind and desire to help you find the selection you may be searching for. They can order new if that is what you would like. Price is comparable to online stores with zero waiting and you are supporting a local business that has been serving this area since at least the early eighties. I recommend a visit to Backdoor Records.

Two of the employees, are extremely rude. I’ve been SHOUTED at for setting a record two rows out of its original spot, which I did due to the stores small size and cramped aisles. This is especially bad during the pandemic. Very unfriendly. Just want to be treated with respect like any paying customer should be treated.

I came in for the first time today and it was great. For someone new to records, I thought it had a big selection and the staff is nice. I also enjoy the chill dog that hangs out in the store.

This place was AWESOME! It just so happened that I knew a worker from another music store long ago and it was so nice to see him again. He has always been so down to earth and an amazing person to talk music with. Anyone wanting a good music store with with extremely helpful and nice employees and clientele, then this is it for you. 5 stars for sure!

Extremely overpriced. Staff thinks they are oh so cool. Ive been buying records since 1963 so I believe I qualify to walk in the door. Had boxes of records with NO PRICES. Asked about one and was told it was graded perfect so priced above mint. There is no perfect record if you have half a lick of sense on the subject. Just a word of advice: if someone who comes into the store who looks like he doesnt live in his mothers basement, have a bit of respect.

Great selection. You can spend half the day digging. Some of the stuff on top of the shelves I feel are a tad over priced but it is made up for with the deals you can get digging underneath.The staff is friendly and helpful. Records are clean and the shop is well organized for easy browsing.

Im not really into vinyl or collecting in general. I just appreciate the art. The guys that work at this record store are really cool. They bring a lot of inspiration to the music. Very knowledgeable about many artists and if they dont know they can try and find more information for you. I appreciate the deals theyll willing to give. Especially with repeat customers. If youre an artist. More specifically a graffiti artist, show them your work and you might be able to design their building. Constantly evolving their material. If youre a music lover dont shy away. Check out Backdoor Records as they have just about every genre in our solor system.

Fantastic place! They have an absolutely great selection, both common and extremely rare finds. You may ask How rare? My answer is simple. They had Green Days very first E.P./Demo 1,000 Hours AND it was a first pressing of the vinyl. It is now one of my most prized possessions, thanks to them. They are super nice and will order anything you want! Just ask them and request it. Also, be sure to ask to see Brody, you wont be disappointed :)

I have shopped at Backdoor Records since I was in college in the 80s. Yes, new ownership now but even easier and nicer people to deal with and very, very fair. I highly recommend getting your new and used vinyl at Backdoor and they will always treat you right.

I was visiting from Louisville KY at Christmas & saw this store was close by my folks place, so stopped in and came away with several CDs, two of which I was just amazed to find there. Great little store, and I will be back next time I visit.

Dont trust them! Was promised $18 for albums and they gave us $16. Tried to sell them a perfectly working turntable and they acted scared and keep saying there was something wrong with it when there wasnt. I would say go somewhere else but there is no where. Check out Mr. Ks instead.

Friendly, helpful, and solid. Got great advice for buying my first record player here. I am the proud owner of a Audiotechnica LP60 and it couldnt have been better advised than with Backdoor records. Could have gone to the (as seen on tv) store and gotten a Crosley player, well I did not know they dont really like a lot of weight on their platter which do not like to play the 180g records efficiently. I was directed to the mid grade...ION or the best well rounded bang for the buck, Audiotechnica. Now I ordered mine off of amazon for $100, a little pricey you say, well not when you see how well they actually do. I went with the latter and this place will order you pretty much any music the world presses. I Just starting my collection and the prices are decent, and they have pretty much everything. Death rock to hip-hop, grunge to jazz, psychedelic to pop and anything in between.

By far the best store to shop for great music from national AND local artists. If you need vinyl then this is your place!
