RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL - Visited the warehouse 3/8/21 to look at inventory. I asked if I can tag merchandise to hold for 2 days so I could process a Purchase Order. Called back 2 days later and was rudely told they do not hold merchandise unless paid after which the woman hung up on me. I called back and asked why she hung up and was told “we were finished”. She then proceeded to argue her assumption for my call. Told me they don’t have time to look for items for every caller. Merchandise must be paid in full. I asked if I can make my purchase over the phone but was told that request was impossible and needed to be approved by the owner. I asked to speak to the owner. Was answered with “the owner does not have time to speak to customers asking for discounts.” I don’t know what her assumptions were but I was prepared to buy merchandise to furnish 16 two-bedroom condos. I find it very odd that a business refused to make that kind of a sale.
Got a wood queen bed for 100 dollars which I love going back in may to get sleeper sofa sales people were pretty cool to me went the extra mile for my bed love. The place

I can see why people write so many negative reviews of this place. Mike the owner is pretty rude. I hot a good deal though and the furniture I got is nice. And the other people that work there all seemed really nice. Mike is pretty abrasive though.
No longer sell to Individuals. Commercial Business only. Found some wonderful sales. I know many others who will miss visiting and buying.
Went in search of donations for our school’s gala. The owner graciously agreed to donate! We were pleasantly surprised with 3 truckloads of picture frames, a granite console, 4lamps, 2 decorative pillows, a beautiful chair, and 4 side tables. Thanks for helping us create a comfortable lounge area for our gala!

Repeat buyer -- we have bought McGuire chairs and benches there at a terrific price--between several family members, I think we bought 12 and the living room chairs had hassocks, too. They will sort through a whole truckload of furniture to help you get the pieces you want. Of course they are used, but those chairs are about $1900? when new. Also have bought frames--I think the largest frame is gigantic and only cost me $35. A great place to get the type of furniture you see in hallways or behind sofas, the odds and ends pieces.
Its the worst experience ever. Might have to end up with police complaints and all. Just recommendation don’t order there.. will have nothing but hassling and arguments and of course many excuses.i wish there is no star for them but have to choose one to write the review.May 29 I called you for josh.. of course i have not talk with you yet.. mike said he going to write my refund check last Wednesday as soon as ower get back in town..now he does say this and that again.. i told him don’t do that my mom is handicap i need my money so i can order something else since u guys don’t have my sofa. I even said if not then i have to do police complain he said thats fine they not going to do anything about this. So that’s how they treat customers.. will keep you posted next.
Ive visited this place several times in previous years. After my most recent visit to the back warehouse, I decided it would be my LAST. I would have given this dump a ZERO-star rating if I could have.The customer service has been horrible each time Ive gone. The workers walk right past you, no greeting, and I usually have to flag someone down to get assistance. The guy who appears to be the manager, Mike, is the WORST. Hes rude, curt, and generally not interested in you if youre an individual and not a business. Hell even stand there and EXPLAIN to you that he prefers selling to businesses! Way to make a potential customer feel welcome, idiot.I was only interested in purchasing a single item. Once this guy realized that, he wasnt interested in spending a lot of time with me, and walked off. Once I found him again, I proceeded to negotiate a fair price. He became visibly irritated at that point. He even made a disrespectful, backhanded remark about my appearance, after Id asked him if he remembered me from previous visits. I couldnt believe his audacity, because he apparently hadnt took a good look at HIMSELF in the mirror lately...The advertisements are misleading. A lot of the stuff in there is outdated and/or shows obvious signs of wear and tear. Not exactly gently used, which is what youd expect for resale. So if youre thinking of visiting this place, do yourself a favor; keep looking!
Never buy mattress from this guy. He saw you good one but they deliver different one. They saw you clean one but once you do payment you want get the item you order. And Mike owner and manager dosent care about customers. He say I will get lot of customers.
If you dont mind scratch and dent conservative hotel furniture, this place is fine. Nice selection of couches, but the prices are just fair, no real deals. Staff ignored me or gave me hostile looks. How hard is it to say hello and smile?
UPDATE : This company has a great owners. I had a problem below with Mike their transportation Manager as a broker. They called me a year later after finding out and corrected the mistake. . They paid me what was owed. Please call the owners if there is a problem. Ask for Andrea she is the head of customer service before leaving a bad review. Great management . Thank youIf you are a broker ! Buyer be aware! The Transportation manager is rude and does not pay ! If you are a driver know that the loads are floor loads and take upto 4 hours to unload and the owner will not pay Detention! Did this 4 times and when a driver stayed for 3 hours the owner refused to pay. The owner Mike called on a Saturday, I worked hard to get him a truck on a saturday and because he wanted the broker to do another load and he was refused for lack of payment on another, he totally refused to pay! Does not return phone calls! Drivers be aware take payment in advance! The man is a scam.
I purchased a mattress with Southwest Surplus a little over a year ago. I noticed the mattress started to sink in the middle. I contacted the company to ask about a replacement, since I have a 5 year manufacture warranty. I spoke with the manger Mike about the problem and he asked me to send him a picture of the bed. So I did and he told me that he should know something within a couple of days. I contacted him via phone to see if he heard anything and he said no, and said they have to check their email to see what they can do. I simply asked him about how the process works when a mattresses is under warranty, he said they might give me a new one. I asked him how will I get the mattress to my home? He Said: Well Im not gonna deliver it for free! I said how else am I going to get the mattress. He Said Your going to have to pay for it! Mike the manger kept over talking me and yelling at me as if I wasnt a customer. Saturday he called and said he had a mattress and he can deliver it for free. So the day arrives for them to deliver, he cancels because he says he has to close. The next day they deliver the mattress 30 minutes behind schedule. THEY DELIVERED THE WRONG MATTRESS.I called Mike and he said: Look your just gonna have to come up here and get the mattress yourself; we gave you that mattress because the 2100 will just give you problems. I said, but you did not tell me it was going to be a different mattress. He said: I am not in the mood to argue with you, Ive already went out of my way and you have to talk to the manufacture personally, because we have done our part. He then called back and said the delivery men said they showed me the number on the mattress and it is 2100. I clearly told him it says 501 and is not the same comfort. He kept yelling and over talking me and said I was acting UGLY over the phone. When I clearly was voicing my concern without using profanity or yelling. I told him I have never had such BAD customer service in my life and I will be contacting the owner.I wouldnt have been as upset if I felt Mike was treating me with respect and conducting himself professionally. I am truly disgusted with the customer service Ive received by the manger!
I visited Southwest Surplus for the first (and last) time on August 7th, 2018 around 11:00 am. As I walked into the store and asked Mike if this was Southwest Surplus he said there are signs everywhere, cant you see them? My friend and I walked through the warehouse showroom and were astonished at all the used furniture piled high, stacked one on top of another. There was no good way to really examine a piece of furniture that was several layers underneath a pile of other furniture. I am primarily posting this review because of the apparent rudeness of Mike who may be the owner or manager, but also because of the lack of prices on any of the furniture. I heard Mike talking to a couple who were interested in buying two chairs, they asked Mike how much they cost and he said $350.00. They offered him $300.00 but he refused to come down on his price, which, of course, was his perogative. I asked Mike why there werent any signs or tags indicating pricing, and he said that he does this every day and knows what things cost My guess is that he sizes up the customer and throws out a price off the top of his head, but perhaps I am mistaken about that. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!
First let me say it the one closer to the hotel not the one by food town. I called they gave me a price I went through a couple weeks later and they keep their promise everything is clean and affordable I will be coming back

******NEVER NEVER NEVER BUY ANTHING FROM THIS GUY.******I bought sofa from him. I drove from san Antonio to Houston because my friend recommended him. So I bought leather sofa and paid him cash. He told me he would deliver the sofa in a week. I called after week and since then he ( mike) started give me excuse and never delivered. So I called him and told him that I will go there next day to pick my sofa. I booked the U-Haul and pay from my pocked ( it was supposed to deliver by him). When I went there he said his got the lovesheet instate of sofa and there is no way he can get it today. ARE YOU SERIOUS I DROVE ALLL THE WAY FROM SAN ANTONIO TO PICK MY STUFF AND YOU ARE TELLING ME YOU DONT HAVE IT. Then he promise me to deliver my frisking sofa ( this is what he told me - this is his word) on the weekend. Since then he started give me excuse and it was never delivered. It has been over two months he is been lying to me. So finally I got frustrated and ask for the refund. This are the answer I got from him.First time. - send me your address and I will send it overnight.second time- We cut the check once a week so I will ask my accountant to cut your check next week.third time- I ask for accountant number - he was like you bought it from me so deal with me. I am not going to give you anybodys number.forth time. - you have to come here to pick up you check. ( are you serious from san Antonio to Houston)--- see how this guy is treating his customer.fifth time- started using f** word on the phone.Six time- no answer of any text and no reply of any e-mail.I still has not received my sofa or my refund.please please do not buy any stuff from him.I just dont want anybody to go though all this.
I went to Southwest and ordered an entire living room set and bedroom set. The bedroom was in stock at the wearhouse but the living room set was ordered from their book. Initially my experience was great. They were friendly and assured me my furniture would be delivered promptly by said date. First problem.. My bedroom set arrives and it is not the color I picked which was black. The cherry set arrives with delivery guys and I call the store. Suddenly all the niceness and charm goes out the window and the manager says its nothing that can be done b/c his guys have already sent the furniture out. No apology no discount nothing. I should have canceled my book order right then. I decided to collect my furniture and they would never get my business again. Next problem comes when my living room furniture arrival date gets pushed back 4 times. Each time I have to call to inquire b/c no one notified me. They would state it would be delivered and I would stay all day waiting only to find out the furniture didnt come in. I only give them 2 stars b/c the price of everything was negotiated to a really fair price. However things turned into a nightmare afterwards. Everyones experience is different but I swore if I ever figured out how to post a review I would share my experience. If u find something in store that you can take right away on ur own u may avoid all of this. I just wanted them to be accountable and provide good customer service and they simply did not.
