We catered a luau themed outdoor party for 30ppl this summer using Shaka Bowl which is was located 40 minutes away from our home and we were thrilled! We went with build your own and asked for the serving dishes to be included. It was so simple to set an elegant buffet with loads of toppings and sauces. Everything arrived carefully packaged and right on time by a Shaka Bowl Manager. Our guest were then served dumplings and egg rolls passed along with big portions of tacos before making their own poke bowls. Again, everything was fresh, colorful and tasty. The next day, the team came back to pick up their dishes and supplies. Big thanks to Kiersten and her team for the delicious food and for helping me host a such a memorable event!
Amazing Hawaiian place to have a healthy dinner! All staff is so friendly! All space is super clean, great atmosphere and good chill music. And design is pretty good!!! Everything reminds me Hawaii ♥️♥️ they have outlets next to the every table and 2 restrooms. I really like this place and recommend!
Love their Acai bowls, also tried the Poke bowl which was ok.
I had such high hopes for this bowl of poke. I live in the Heights by the Congress St. elevator, and I have tried Tidal, Pokay and Piki, and each has its plusses and minuses, and all can be very good - but Shaka Bowl was in walking distance to me, so no driving and no expensive delivery fees either. I felt like I had just discovered something great! The first time I went there, they had no salmon at all, so I decided to wait for another time. That time was today. Easily the worst bowl of Poke Ive had in the area, by a looooong mile.I got a large bowl and asked to pay for an extra scoop of fish - and make the whole bowl half tuna and half salmon. I picked my toppings and ponzu sauce. I didnt see spicy mayo on the menu so I didnt ask. I got my order then decided to ask for some spicy mayo on the side, figuring they must have it. The guy said it was not allowed. Turns out that sauce is called spicy shaka sauce, so you can order it, but apparently you can only get one sauce with your bowl. Every other place is not this stingy - you can get a shoyu for your bowl and top it with spicy mayo everywhere else. Whatever, I figured Id go home and mix up some Kewpie mayo with some sriracha and mix it in to my bowl.I got home and did so, but the portions were insulting. I asked for extra fish for the money, and there was less fish on this bowl than any of the other three places I mentioned, even if get a regular order, let alone pay for extra. They were even stingy with the pineapple and edamame, which there was little of compared to what I am used to, and I couldnt taste a single sweet onion or cilantro. I tried to find them visually and I couldnt see them either. They forgot two of my toppings.Everything seemed fresh. But whats the point?
Hands down best poke bowl around. great food, healthy options and super friendly staff. love the decor too! highly recommended....
Ok, so first of all I want to say I love this place for gf cookies and salmon bowl. But 15$ for regular fresh juice? I mean, its beyond even Manhattan prices. 15$ for fresh juice which you pay normally for two of them.
There’s such an amazing variety of options here! I love trying the various bowls available. They are delicious and thoughtfully made. I always add the coconut granola- it’s addictive. My fiancée adores the breakfast bowl with the eggs and Buffalo sauce - we order from here often and it always comes promptly and perfectly packagedHot tip: the matcha shake is so delicious- keeps me full all day !
For the slight premium this place has decent healthy food options. I usually order build your own bowl with seafood protein, rice, and an abundant amount of toppings. Resulting meals is pretty satisfying. Overall I think food here is fairly average and more expensive for Hoboken. However, I personally highly recommend the smoothies. Plenty of healthy, nutritious, and innovative options will satisfy people with variety of taste.
Shaka Bowl is great! Acai and poke bowls are extremely fresh, as are the smoothies (my go-to items). I highly recommend! One area of frustration I have is in ramping up for their second store opening on Washington, Shaka shrunk their bowls to a noticeably smaller size. Prices remained the same for the smaller bowls. For that reason, they get a 4 out of 5 from me.I still frequent Shaka, and appreciate the rewards program, friendly staff, atmosphere, cleanliness, and all, but those changes do not go unnoticed...
The food is great however the pricing is inconsistent every time I go. The menu says one thing, the display board says another, and the cashier doesnt know which is which. Quite disappointing!
Little pricey but great quality
One of my preferred places for tasty hawaiian food. Great hospitality. Next time Ill be back with my relatives. Bring your hunger - portions are filling. Food is like a restaurant in Louisville I loved.
Traveled from the Bronx out to Hoboken (path train to light rail) because Nix (the birthday boy) and I like poke, but the girls are hesitant. Shaka Bowl offers acai, pitaya, parfait and poke bowls (snack or large size), so they were able to try something different. I had the zoodles in my poke, Nix had zoodles and rice with ahi tuna. Everything was delicious and the service was good. The only reason not 5 stars is because we all wanted mango in our bowls, but sadly no mango that day. Nix loved his smoothie afterwards and the coffee was delicious. We also took home monkey bread, which my girls have tried to recreate, because it was so tasty. Will definitely go back.
As my first time here, I was very pleased. The gentleman walked me through the entire menu & offered to answer any questions I had. I will definitely be coming back here to enjoy my acai bowl.
Great smoothies and the staff is always friendly!
Jesus is based af keep it going king
Love the poke bowls. I love to build my own and they get right every time. The staff is always super friendly and will even load the bowls with a little extra! Tons of healthy options, highly recommend.
These bowls were so good and healthy.
I have never had Poke before and am a bit skeptical of restaurants that promote themselves as healthy food, but today I went to Shaka Bowl and it was one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. I have only been there once and plan to go back a lot, but I had a Mauna Kea bowl of tuna, mango, pineapples, cilantro, hot pepper, rice, sesame seeds and more. It was a flavor explosion! It was kind of like great sushi, but with so much more to it.Feb 2018 update: I have been addicted to their poke, but tried their fruit bowls for the first time. Amazing! I had a Molokai Cocoa, which was a bowl of fruit, acai, a variety of nuts with nutella on the top. Absolutely fantastic.
Fresh food and friendly staff. The build your own smoothies and poke bowls are great! Wide selection of toppings for the poke bowls. Will be back!
Relatively fast little place to pick up a healthy lunch acai smoothie or a dinner poke bowl when on the run. Will only set you back $10-15...definitely worth it for better health and fitness!!!Only negative--trying to find parking may be a challenge during some times of the day.
The food, atmosphere and Staff are all great! Perfect place for a quick bite with lots of delicious options or even a date night! Their Vegan Brownies are so good! Enjoy!
Solid bowls. I will definitely go back. Im changing my review to 5 stars because of their zucchini noodles. The service is always fast and banana chocolate vegan cookies are excellent. Bowls are $14 but all the ingredients are very high quality
They make great poke bowls. Love anything with tuna and pineapple. You can build your own too!
Very good Hawaiian food.
The best things at this place (and the only things I have ever gotten) are the macaron ice cream sandwiches. The cookie is delightfully chewy, which is a great contrast to the smooth, flavorful ice cream. The flavors run a nice spectrum, from the usual (rocky road) to the wacky (fruity pebbles!). Definitely give it a try (but prepared to wait in a long line)!
Really good poke, with a good selection of smoothies and acai bowls. It definitely is not cheap, but you get a surprising amount of food for what you are paying for. What really makes this a 5-star rating is their customer service. My wife recently picked up some food, and a couple mistakes were made with the order (mistakes happen). After emailing Shaka Bowl about the mistake, they offered a free poke bowl on her next visit. They did not need to do that, but really helped make sure we go back.
I don’t know what happened to this place. It was awesome at the beginning, now everything looks extra spicy, expensive and it comes in a ugly plastic bowl with 60% rice. It used to be delicious and innovative, now it’s just another bowl place like any one of these you find in Manhattan, and it’s not even a bowl anymore, the plastic cans were the killer for me. Sad. Don’t come if you don’t want to pay around 10 bucks to eat rice with some toppings on it. The sweet things are good though, the pitaya bowl is good!
Love Shaka, my favorite bowls in Hoboken. They have gluten free granola. Plenty of options for sweet and savory bowls. Service is great too!
Acai bowls here are amazing, I highly recommend! They also have a cute atmosphere!
Love this place... most delicious acai bowl in town.. service is excellent.
Yummy! Super fresh ingredients combined for a delicious and healthy meal! Very friendly service to top it all off. Cant wait to go back.
It hurts me writing this review because the Madison Avenue location was my go to place when it first opened. On my last visit I ordered the Bannutry and what a disappointment it was. The bananas in this bowl were over ripen to the point there were slimy and not very please to eat. The shape of the container that this was all SQUISHED in did not make it any better. It was a one big mush by the time I got to the bottom of it - definitely not a good experience. I will try other options In town they offer this type of a bowl. Needless to say after 3 bites I threw it out in the trash. The bananas were simply not edible.
Got a Tuna Taco and the tuna was rotten, I called to let them know what happened and they should change it, they hung up. I didn’t called to complain just to let them know.
Went to Shaka Bowl on their opening day and it was great! I got a make your own acaí bowl, it was lovely. The ingredients are super fresh and the staff so kind and welcoming. Cant wait to come back in a few weeks!
Me and my wife called because they say on their website dairy free. We were so excited to try dairy free bowls. We asked if the yogurt was dairy free they said it’s Greek yogurt. I said, is it Greek Vegan yogurt? They said, we don’t know. If the people answering the phones don’t know if the yorgurt is dairy free how can we order from you? Very disappointing.
Delicious and healthy food. I highly recommend the Poke. The Tuna is fresh and melts in your mouth. Fast, friendly service and great atmosphere too! I will be returning soon!
So healthy and light. Amazing
Love love love this place! Reasonably priced Poké bowls, I was only able to eat half. Also love that avocado isnt extra!
Update: I still really like the açaí bowls here, probably the best in town. The owner is quick to right any wrongs.I ’m honestly pretty disappointed. I really like the açaí bowls here but after being arbitrarily overcharged $6 I’m not sure that I’ll return. The funny thing is that I had a 20% off coupon, it seemed more like 20% was added.
This place has some amazing stuff poke bowls are delicious. Nutritious Nanners oatmeal breakfast is the best. Aloha smoothie is so tasty! And of course the acai bows with all you want in there. The food is healthy and delicious!!
I love their food. As a vegan, this is the best option in the area.
Great place!! I have had a lot of acai and poke bowls and this is by far some of the best I have had! Keep up the good work guys!
Tried it and loved it. Definitely a very good choice. A lil pricey but well worth it. The service was awesome. The owner herself prepared my bowl. Winning lmao
The food is very good, there is not a lot of sitting space and their portion sizes are very large.
We love Shaka Bowl! We are addicted to the acai/pitaya bowls and we also love the Poke bowls! The service is great and the food is always on point. The owners and staff are very friendly, and remember us every time we come in! Highly recommend!
Food is really good, great acai bowls. You can not order menu items of their website, you must make a custom bowl which is a little annoying. They dont pick up their phone for takeout orders, why have a listed number?
Delicious smoothies and poke bowls! Fast and fresh!
Really disappointed by the frozen berries in my açaí bowl today. Definitely not the quality I’m looking for at $9/bowl.
Açaí was flavorless and came in a weird looking container. I used to enjoy this place but it just downgraded
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED took over 20 minutes to make my 2 overpriced bowls for $30... Now I say overpriced not because of price but because what I received for it . Absolutely pathetic. And as I asked what was taking so long, the counter person had to clear their mouth of the wonton crisps they were so un elegantly shoving down their throat. 75 cents for avocado sure no prob .For a sliver thats 1/10th an avocado. Yeah thats nuts .fish the size of Pennys? Joke. Never gain will I come in here to throw away my money to these people. And on top of it all one of the two bowls was missing components.... NEVER AGAIN. BUYER BE WARE.If it was a regular restaurant and I hadnt paid with my card ahead of time I would have walked right out.
Great place for smoothies and bowls. Pretty quick usually but there may be times where the lines are long.
The food & the place are great, the patrons are even better :)
Fast service, great food, and wonderful atmosphere!
My first impression wasn’t very nice since while I was ordering, the cashier was chewing chips or something and her mouth was so full that the pieces of food were falling out of it (all in front of me). Unpleasant, unprofessional and disrespectful. Moreover, after having a poke bowl from them for dinner, I woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in my stomach and had to take a medication. I was nearly vomiting. My friend who also ordered a bowl is still feeling awful. I don’t think I’ll ever visit again.
Nice acai bowls and smoothies!
I ordered a poke bowl today, food arrived super fast!!!Everything was super fresh and tasted amazing!
This food is fresh and the service is prompt and pleasant.
Shaka is a great spot for a smoothy, lunch, or just a coffee on your break. It has unique character and high-quality food.
Great place. Clean, great presentation, good portion size, amazing food. Will definitely be going a lot.
Place is always busy, delicious Poke & Pitaya bowls. The ingredients are always fresh! If you come here, expect to pay $14 per bowl- the cost of doing business in Hoboken nowadays. One of the employees working the front counter could be nicer.
They changed the menu which is okay but now you have to build bowls a la carte instead of having pre made suggestions. Theyve also changed their bowls from recyclable brown cardboard bowls to plastic which is concerning. The bowls still taste good but there is a lot of filler rice and not much fish. They also charge the same price for their new small version of the bowls as they used to for the old full size.
Good stuff. Great gluten free options
A nice place, but have had much better and fresher Poke elsewhere.
Weird vibe in here -- totally silent and some pretty distracted service, so not the most welcoming experience. But for a poke place the portions are generous, and the flavor is good (not great, but definitely good enough for a return visit).
Ive been here a couple of times and the food is always on point. Ive gotten the loco moco and the kalua pork rice plates. They give you tons of food and its the best type of savory comfort food you want after a busy day. The loco moco was drenched in a nice gravy. The kalua pork was good, but Id go with the short ribs.
Açaí bowl looks pretty but it has no flavor. Needs to be sweeter.
Some of the components were rancid in salad
Great food. Be prepared for a short line, this place has become very popular.
Beautiful interior but who cares when the staff’s attitude doesn’t match. The acai was flavorless to the point where I actually had to keep tasting it to see if I just wasn’t getting a good bite, but no it’s poor quality. Two stars for the fast service otherwise I’m sticking with my favorite local acai joint *rhymes with Schmaya Bowls*
After sometime, I find that this place is actually better than most of the poke I have tried later...I am a regular customer since I live near by. The food qualify is good, service is ok, price is ok based on the quality of the food. The problem is, the portion of food is getting smaller and smaller !! And it happened many times that they missed my selection in Poke bowl, really frustrating !!!
Absolutely one of my favorite places!!!!! Incredible service and beyond amazing acai bowls 💗💗💗💗
Found this little gem on my way to wine and paint. Their poki bowls are amazing!
Not horrible or Bad. I guess worth the shot
I love this place. Literally obsesssed. I sometimes get both breakfast and dinner there. I love food and I never feel the need to consider if it’s healthy. The food here tastes amazing AND it’s fresh and tastes healthy. I love the Poke bowls. I think the size is good and I love the grilled chicken option. I also love that you can mix rice with another base. The zoodles are so good. I also think the nutritious nanner bowl tastes like Nirvana. The avocado toast with hot honey tastes like ❤️. The bannutty pitaya Bowl is so fresh.I saw a couple of negative reviews about the staff and can only scratch my head. I’ve been there at least 50 times. They’ve been super nice to me and seemed to know what they were talking about.
I was in love with this place last year but I went last week and it was horrendous the taste was unexplainable it felt like Ice with flavoring not the original fruit went to many places and this is the last place to go for it. Anyways they need to step up the containers don’t even have their logos anymore just dollar store containers. I thought it was a well chain or franchise.
I have been here a couple of times. I love the new Acai and poke bowl movement. They are absolutely delicious and best of all you do not have to feel bad for eating one. I like the cacao Nutella Acai bowl; its super filling and a nice power breakfast/lunch. The Acai Bowls will run you 10$.I also enjoy the Poke Bowls, I usually just build my own. You can mix and match greens with a base and general protein. Add some sweet and spicy sauce to give it a nice kick. Poke Bowls are a bit more expensive running you 14$.Even though this place is a bit expensive it is still much cheaper then NYC spots. Good luck with parking in the area. Also it is a small seating area. They need to expand to Jersey City.
Fantastic poke. Had the Mauna Kea and it was great.
Unbelievable. Legendary. Pioneering healthy food thats amazing
Amazing poke and acai. However, the prices are high given the portion sizes, especially the poke.
Amazing food, menu, and very reasonably priced for what you get.
Great food. Wish it were a little bit cheaper, but thats with everything I like
The acai bowl with peanut butter is real nice..
Great food! Quick service
Excellent Place, nice to wind down and have an smoothie!!
This is a big thing in California, and really enjoyed it!
Acai and pitaya bowls are delicious! Need to go back and try the poke.
Good and healthy. Not to sugary which is great
Delicious and nutritious !
This place is the bomb. Absolutely delicious and healthy.
Bowl was good, toppings were a little light. Left hungry.
