So I stumbled upon this little gem while doing a site visit from Columbus Ohio to San Francisco. upon entering I was greeted very nicely (and even had a great conversation while waiting on my food). I asked for the recommendation and was told the lobster bisque was great for starter. then was told I needed to try the ribs (common Im from the Midwest ribs in California why would I try that) so I said well you talked me into it so go ahead and do the ribs. boy was I in for a treat on both. The lobster bisque was to die for it was perfect! Then the ribs came out they were perfectly smoked and just fell off the bone. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!!! 5 stars easily

My husband and I love Spain and Spanish food, so we were excited to try their paella when we saw it on Google. We came for lunch and ordered the mixed paella (with clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari and chorizo). I have to say that it was just as good as any of the paella we remember eating in Spain where we made it our mission to find the best paella. Another couple walked in at the same time as us and left because they didnt want to wait the 35 minutes for their food, but we were so glad we waited! It was fresh, flavorful and piping hot right out of the oven. There was plenty of seafood and meat and the sauce on top was delicious. In addition, the restaurant was clean and the service was excellent—the owner was incredibly kind and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Well be back for sure!

What an amazing experience! We ordered the scallops, the seafood paella and the sangria, everything was so tasty, properly fresh cooked! As an european, definitely well impressed with the paella, havent had one like this in the US. And the gentleman who took care of us during our visit, what a fantastic service, felt really well taken care of, thank you! If you are a paella fan, bear in mind that good fresh paella takes a little while to prepare and they tell you in advance that might take around 35min for the paella to be prepared, and time flies, it is so worth it, definitely do it! We will be back very soon!

Wonderful place, with amazing service and even better food! Aziz is the most wonderful waiter we ever had! He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken cared of. He is the sweetest, nicest, most polite waiter we ever had… EVER! 10/10 on customer service. The food is unbelievable! We got the fish and chips and it was THE BEST fish and chips we ever ate (and yes, we had fish and chips in London… Evangeline’s is MUCH BETTER).Just go there and enjoy. You will not regret it!

1st time there. No reservations needed when we arrived. There are some tables outside, but we chose to eat inside. It was a bit chilly. The staff is very friendly and service was very quick. To start with we ordered one of the appetizers. We chose the Ghambas Al Ajillo it was delicious. For the entree, There are different paella choices. We chose the seafood. Another great tasting dish. To finish with a sweet taste we ordered the cheesecake. Very tasty. Nice presentation. Small portion but powerful in taste. I believe the portions are quite good. Not too large and not small. I also think the prices are adequate. My compliments to the chef and staff. I look forward to returning as well as recommending people. Enjoy the great meal.

We had reservations at some swanky place and at the last minute found this restaurant. Wo - just wow! The husband and wife team are amazing! they have a great story and Evangeline is the name of their angel that is yet to join them. The signature dish is the paella wish is sublime! The scallops were prepared better than Id ever had before. Edith is in the kitchen and her husband (didnt get his name) runs front of the house. An absolute MUST if in Half Moon Bay - in fact, it might be worth a trip there just to eat here.

I live in Burlingame Hills but come to HMB daily. Had been wanting to try this restaurant after a successive string of $$$ disappointing meals elsewhere. Its easy to overlook Evangeline since its not in tourist trap locations but today found the hidden gem.Menu is short but varied with enough mouth watering choices to make it difficult to decide. I opted for fish and chips. Not your typical greasy fish & chips. Batter crust perfection accompanied with homemade slightly spiced creamy dipping sauce and air light french fries. I told the owner I didnt know how bad I needed this, restored my faith in dining out. Treated to gluten free, delectable brownie with fresh whipped cream. I left feeling completely fulfilled and satisfied. All menu items fairly priced. Looking forward to returning with a friend to share one of several Paella options for 2. I am VERY selective, you will not be disappointed here.

We just had lunch today at Evangeline restaurant. We have lived on the coast for 47 years. We wanted to try somewhere different. I dont write reviews very often unless things are above average and worth noting. The service was great and we really enjoyed the food. There is a menu for two people portions and we ordered off that menu. It was a very beautiful presentation and above all tasted great. It was filling and a wonderful experience. We will definitely go back and look forward to meeting the owners again.

Amazing paella, one of the best Ive had, and now Im obsessed with figuring out how they did it. Everything is so tender and flavorful. Often rice dishes like this are gluey, but they totally nailed it. The silky creaminess gives just enough hold to get a good bite, but once in your mouth it melts across your tongue in this beautiful taste of fresh seafood, with a nice tang, and smoky spice that balances perfectly without any oily or fatty flavors getting in the way. The chorizo they use is delicious, the squid was more tender than Ive ever had, and just overall felt like a lot of thought and effort has gone into this dish. Take this to the beach across the street, and youll have a perfect meal!

It was empty when we got in there, our server and cook (the owner?) was very cordial so that was nice. The atmosphere is mediocre but the 2 stars are knocked off because of the selection: unless you were willing to wait 35-50min for paella, you had very few options. There were no salads, standard appetizers, nor were there standard soft drinks that you can get literally anywhere, just coke. Thats fine with me but the huge lack of simple menu items is annoying. We got a shrimp appetizer which was 6 shrimp for $15 (wayyy to much, especially being by the sea) and some fish and chips. The chips were excellent though nothing fancy, the fish and especially the breading was kind of strange but not bad. Its just overpriced for what you get overall and I dont think the owner has a real sense of what direction the restaurant is going since he doesnt have tons of business (at least for lunch that day, 0 people but us), the restaurant doesnt have a solid theme at all from my perspective. I cant understand how this is 4.9 stars unless hes asked a bunch of people (or some bots) to leave good reviews because even some 4.6 star places Ive been to recently blow this place outta the water.

From the lobster bisque to the caramelized scallops and the seafood paella, all was exceptionally prepared and supremely executed. My spouse and I were so glad we took a chance to stop and eat here when visiting Half Moon Bay today. We wanted to try something different besides our regular stops and ending up finding this gem of a restaurant. We ordered the fish and chips and were immediately impressed with the batter and taste of the fish. It was not your typical heavy and greasy batter. Even the chips were delicious! We also ordered the seafood paella. Neither of us had ever had paella and this dish did not disappoint. The paella has a wonderful rice base thats well spiced along with a creaminess to it, while being cooked to perfection and topped with a variety of delicious fresh seafood. We tried the paella with and without the aioli sauce and found we enjoyed it without the aioli as the aioli did diminish the spices a hair. The service was prompt and amazing. Our food came in a timely manner and while the paella does take some time to make, its well worth the wait! We will definitely be visiting again in the future!

Overpriced tourist trap. Did not want to wait 35-45 minutes for their seafood paella so we ended up ordering the Angus burger ($20), fish and chips ($20), and ribs ($25 for 6 small pcs). We were extremely underwhelmed to say the least. Honestly, food from Applebees would have been better. If we had known our food would take half an hour to come out, we would have ordered the paella. This wait was with just one other table there. Lesson learned!

Hes from Nepal. Shes from Mexico. Together, this sweet couple pours their hearts into this little cafe and makes magic -- with beautifully presented seafood dishes but especially with a level of warm, kind and spirited interaction with us that made for a memorable Sunday afternoon dining experience. Caramelized scallops, brandied shrimp and light, flavorful fish and chips made for a tasty meal, but the surprise pre-birthday treat for an 88-year-old lady and the owners willingness to share their unique story made a day trip to Half Moon Bay even more special after a brief visit to the cold, windy beach. Ajash and Edith have done all they could to survive COVID restrictions and have wonderful plans to recover and expand on their dream. Please pay them a visit and tell them I sent you!
