Not even worthy of stars.. the man was very rude. I have a Japanese right hand drive van and needed some wiper blades, I went to this store because every part store I’ve went to doesn’t have them. Upon first walking into the store, the smell is awful and the clutter is just unbelievable.. he proceeds to ask me can he help me and I tell him I need the wiper blades and he says I can’t help you today.. why be open if you cannot service the public that’s just insane.. Very bad business!!!

The person on the other end of the phone (I assume the owner) had very poor customer relation skills. He was very snappy and acted as he was not interested in doing business because I had an older vehicle. He answers the phone “Hello”, so you don’t know if it is a business or someone’s personal phone number. I asked about parts and was literally cut off with “Forget about it the parts are too old.” By the end of the conversation I was told “I don’t want to get involved with any of that.” How rude?!?

This is NOT your average auto parts store. The owner actually knows what he’s talking about, and as someone who has done business with this establishment for almost 25 years, the following statement is a fact: Customers can find what they need, learn a little something, and gain a friend by doing business with Japan Auto. Here’s how to do this:1.) LISTEN to the man that answers the phone. He will tell you what you need, and explain to you (in as much detail as you like) how he does business. If you approve, go to step two...2.) OPEN your EYES when you walk into his establishment. -Not just because there’s stuff everywhere, but because his policies for doing business are posted conspicuously. If you still approve, then step three below...3.) Approach the counter with ALL relevant info concerning the parts you need. The man is good, but he’s no mind reader. Your search will go much more smoothly and waste less of your time and his. During this process he will likely tell you anything you want to know about installing the part and give you a bit of an education. There’s your value add. -It’s true, the counter is probably dirty and the carpets came over on the ark. -Perhaps they were even used in the ark... Regardless, this is a parts house, not a Rolls Royce showroom. Your value here is the quality of parts George sells and the knowledge the man has to give. Probably at some point in the conversation he will explain to you his return policy. If you approve, go to step four...4.) Buy the part(s) you need, and take it home. BEFORE breaking open the packaging, getting the part greasy, and damaging it in the process of force fitting it, verify it is the correct part. Then install it PROPERLY. You’ve heard the store return policy several times by now and even had the chance to read it. IT IS YOUR FAULT, not the owner’s, if you damage the part during installation, find a cheap Chinese knock off elsewhere, or simply change your mind. You WILL NOT change the owner’s mind because you change yours.Large chains have the assets to spread out the loss created by returns. This is a small time operation with MUCH more to offer than the big guys. I’ve been doing business with the man since 1992 and we’ve gotten along well, because I can LISTEN and READ. -Not because I expect him to come around to my way of thinking and do business on my terms. If you need/want quality parts that will outlast just about anything you can buy at the chains, buy your parts here.If you want a little education along the way, buy your parts here.If you appreciate a straight forward approach to doing business, and want to support a local guy, buy your parts here. Thanks for all the help over the years George!
