Havent been to this location before. Maintenance was being done in one of the aisles and some of the shelves were more than half empty. To my understanding this location is closing at 8pm and will be closing permanently soon
This family fare has the basics, but there are times Ive shopped here and not found what I needed. That being said, the staff is courteous, the store is clean, and covid guidelines are followed. Great service.
Their employee Derrick is FANTASTIC!He has amazing work ethic. I legitimately look forward to seeing him every time I go!
I used to shop at this place because they had one kind of ice cream I really loved and the sherbert too
Just read this store is closing. I love shopping here.
I needed to pop in quickly for a small cake. The ONLY cake available was a 7-up cake which was not what I was hoping for. The freezer in the bakery only had cheesecakes with so much frost you couldnt see what they looked like. When I asked the deli employee of there were cakes anywhere I was told he didnt really know anything about the department that was in front of his counters. Irritating. The checkout lines were all into the frozen aisles and I was 4th in line to check out at the service deck which proved to be the fastest option. I will drive the opposite direction next time I need a quick pop in and try my luck at Meijer.
Produce is absolutely horrible. $1.59 for a head of lettuce that I ended up throwing 3/4 of it away because it was rotted inside. This store sure has gone down hill.in the past few years.
I received my vaccine here. Friendly service and easy peasy. In and out in 15 minutes
Every time I go here I seem to get a shopping cart with bad wheels. This time was no different. They were also out of many things I wanted, like smaller containers of sour cream and cottage cheese. At least in the brand I like. Checkout was slow even though they were not very busy. This usually is a pretty good store. Just bad timing maybe. Their carts do need maintenance though!
Clean grocery store. The long hair dude in the night shift is super chill and airways remembers me.
Very clean . nicely setup easy to find what youre looking for.
Its closing and it shows in the attitude of some employees and the few products available.
Very run down not very clean I was very uncomfortable entering the building.
Not really busy. Great service. Checked out immediately
Best checker. Ever Eric
This a great neighborhood grocery store,.
This store is very outdated and dirty and lack of meat and other necessities
The only the only good Family fare is the one that is in East Town all other Family fare grocery stores in Grand Rapids area are horrible!!!
Fresh food. Low prices. Polite staff
Easy to find stuff.
Nice store, clean, and organized.
The store has a funny smell when you walk in
I love to shop at family fare for years, but today’s experience made me not want to go there anymore. I was in hurry and choose to self checkout and throw away my receipts near by the counter. The security/ officer clearly saw me checking out and throw it away and stopped me by the door. I asked why and he said its because I used self checkout. There are plenty of people done self checkout and one lady in front of me also throw away her receipt too, but he didn’t stop her. He asked the lady at the counter and checked my receipt and she did and of course she found it. He didn’t even apologized or anything. I mean I know why he did because I’m asian and look like I’m in a rush. I shop there for more than 11 years and never got asked to show receipt that’s why I assume I don’t need it so i threw it away.
We met the finest and very hard working elderly gentleman at the deli when purchased chicken dinner meal today at noon. He was by himself and managed to smile and be pleasant amidst the group of people waiting to be waited on. We need more genuine and caring people like him.
Thats the store i miss....i moved away but work in the area...love the people there always so helpful!!! Thanks!!
I found the yogurt on their shelf that I like and normally buy had an expired date. I mentioned it to the checkout clerk. He seemed disinterested. I asked to speak with the store director. Nope. He is on vacation. A week or so later I returned to the store. I wanted to buy the yogurt. But the same yogurt with the expired date was still on the shelf! I asked to speak with the store manager. They referred me to the acting manager. She said she was the deli manager and I had talked to the wrong person about the issue. I explained that I had mentioned the expired yogurt to the checkout clerk. Today is October 20. I spoke with her a few days ago. The date on the yogurt is October 7. This is not the first time I have experienced this situation at this store. Why do I keep returning you ask? I live a couple blocks away and I do not have a car currently. The next nearest grocery store is miles away. This store is horrible. update 02/20/21I just came for shopping at the Family Faire at 4325 Breton RD SE. I noticed the facemask requirement is not being enforced there. I saw two different store patrons shopping without masks. One past me by in the isle and came within three feet of me - he was not wearing a mask. Another was up front socializing with store employees, check-out clerks, etc. I got the managers attention and told him what I noticed. I pointed out one of the maskless patrons and the store manager went to talk to him. I spoke with the store manager a few minutes later and the store manager told me that particular patron came in the store at least ten times a day. The store manager knew the patron personally and they addressed each other by first name. The manager said he cannot enforce the mask requirement because if the maskless person says that they have a medical issue that precludes wearing a mask then the store manager can do nothing more. As far as I know masks are required by the state of Michigan for shoppers in grocery stores. Nearly 500,000 Americans have died from covid so far. Now we have more transmissible variants of covid in our population. Is it safe for patrons to shop at this store?
This place is very unclean. It has a rotten vegetable smell everytime I have gone here. The staff isnt friendly at all. In fact all you see is the cashiers. I have yet to see anyone in the floor. Avoid this family fare at all cost. They expect the customers here to sanitatize their own cars before use too.
This is my goto store. The only thing that is interesting is that that you need a Yes card to get the reduced price . On todays shopping trip I saved $2.50. I guess it worth the hassle but I dont always use my yes card.
Very, Very poor response to customer phone reply.I was on hold for 21min just for her to check to see if they had any fresh rosemary that my wife needed for a dish. They never came back with the information. Now I am forced to go all the way to Meijers. 4miles away instead of around the block.it doesnt make sense!!!!!!
Employees are useless, expired product throughout the whole store, the whole store is disgusting. I a have given this store many chances and I am officially done.
Great store, good supplies nice people!
We always have to return whatever we buy. This last time there was mold in an unopened gallon of orange juice 😡😡😡 never shopping here again
I went into this Family Fare last night. I picked up a gallon of milk from the cooler section in front of cas registers. Got the milk home and the milk was curduled. My husband went back this morning to the same cooler, and found yellow containers that were bulging out. How gross.
Clean and easy to find what I needed.
This is a GREAT market. They have helpful employees, good products that we all know and enjoy, great personal brand of stuffs (Spartan brand)(theyre actually the biggest Spartan branded store, to be honest with you), even their robotic self-checkout machines are top notch. I dont live close to this store, but o pass it by on the way to and from work, so I often find myself stopping there to pick up products after Im done working. I work second shift, so I go there at night, and the gentleman that is usually there is extremely professional and helpful. I have no doubts in giving this location five stars, as they have And continue to earn it. As stated before, FIVE STARS, HANDS DOWN- TODD JAMISON
Prices on selected add items are good. Cleanliness is fair. Selections on produce is minimal and needs monitoring for over ripe items. Vendor support seems to be missing. ie: chips, soda, bread is limited in quantity or out of stock.
They didnt have what I wanted, but the store was nice and clean. Inviting. Good prices, as long as you have their club card. No waiting in line for checkout; I liked that very much!
A little more expensive than my usual meijer but very quiet and convenient.
Great ok lace, great people.
Local store always shop there always good kind people
Kinda rude employees over priced and not very much meat options
Very nice. Laid out in current style, easy to navigate and locate. Well-stocked, as it should be. I was pleasantly surprised!
Clean a little expensive but nice store
This is the only grocery store besides horrocks that is on my way home from work. If that were not the case I would not shop here. As grocery stores go it is a little dimly lit and there are rarely enough lanes open for checkout. The staff are helpful when asked, but always kind of seem like they really dont want to be there.
They are not keeping this store up, bottle return is antique! Fix it or close the store. Not up to Family Fare STDs.
Love the store great deals good customer service
The store is close. It has easy finding isles, the meat is fresh with butchers ready to help for all your needs. The prices are very reasonable the selection is amazing they also have some hard to find items.
Friendly people, great deli cafe,Pricey are a little height but when compared to Meijer or the dreaded Walmart. It is the.best around
This is a nice grocery store. They dont have everything but are usually well stocked.
Very efficient and not that busy.
Staff is always willing to help and they are customer friendly. Not a huge fan of only having one staff member at the checkout counter during the early morning shift.
Decent prices and a nice clean store. What keeps me coming back is the fast and friendly customer service I always receive from the employees, especially Jessica. If theres a problem, shell be there in 30 seconds to fix it.
The store needs a face lift. Also new bottle machines. My customer service was very good at the courtesy counter.
Went in to get a money order so I could pay my rent after I dropped my daughter off at school and was told by a cashier that the service desk is closed and the Manager does not have time to come up and assist regardless of the fact that there were no customers in the store and the cashiers were just standing around. NOT HELPFULL AT ALL. If you want a good reputation in the community, good customer service is key.
With high prices, 1 register open (always), slow and disrespectful staff, and not good produce I tend to go to Mejier even though this store is closer because of these things. If there were more lanes to get people in and out this place would be a lot better off.
Great customer service and location.
Very great store for groceries shopping
Another Horrible visit to this Family Fare store. At lunchtime, there is only 1 lane manned by a human along with the 3 lanes of self serve check out. All 3 self serve were once again bogged down with customers who were all having issues. We came in to get the salad bar and found out that they chose not to put it out because it is New Years Eve. No notice, just a decision made. No signage indicating Why until we tracked down an employee. While forced to stand behind 6 people who were waiting in line with the only working cashier, CHASE, called out on the PA system asking for another cashier to come up front. Her co-worker came, took one look at the line ( now 12 people deep ) and scooted back into oblivion. Cashier listed as CHASE or # 175864 on my receipt called out a second time asking for help. This time nobody came to help the 12 of us STILL standing in line. Poor management at this particular location. This store could certainly use some training with their employees to expedite the purchasing process their shoppers must go through. More lanes need to be open. Its been 1 lane open here for years. Please open more lanes during peak shopping hours!
Excellent service
My favorite Family Fare. Well managed
Always Happy with that 💯 store, I fine everything I need and the people are so happy and friendly 😊😊 😊😊 😊😊 😊
One checkout lane open on Friday before Christmas. The cashier was nice in the midst of a crash of her register computer. The management is obviously not taking care of employees nor the lanes. I appreciated the helpful staff.
Small but nice. Decent selection of grocery items. They had what I was looking for.
This is the last place I go for groceries. Usually buy one off items or onesies or twosies. Lacking In comparison to meijers prices and selection. The store aisles are old fashioned 70s style. Overdue for redecorating. I go here only for the convience to home and support for community.
Store NEEDS deep cleaning which is in the process. BUT the customer service, product selections, location and hours are great.
Good for local shoppers that dont want to go to Meijer. But a bit pricey
When they have sales its decent prices on groceries
Family Fare lacks the selection of other grocery stores and the prices are considerably more expensive. Shopping there is like visiting a large convenience store. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and drive to Meijer instead.
Hard to find your way around...expensive in my opinion...helpful and friendly help
I see potential..but needs some workThere was like 6people in the entire store..some shelfs were empty and the place inside didnt feel cozy
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I SAVE SO MUCH MONEY WITH MY YES CARD. THE CASHIER WITH THE DREADLOCKS IS SO HOT! I THINK HIS NAME IS SAM. HES REALLY HELPFUL. THE LADY WITH THE NOSE PIERCING IS REALLY FRIENDLY AS WELL.
I was shocked at the filth in this place. The bottle return area which is inside the store has filth everywhere. Gum that has been in the floor for a while. The restroom was even worse. No soap in the dispensers, trash was full, urine on the floor, fecies on the wall in the stall. I mentioned the restroom condition to a lady by the register and received an OK...If the areas that the general public see are this bad, imagine how the back cafeteria prep areas are. Where the heck is the health department?
There are cleaner and better run Family Fare stores, but none with as surly staff as this one. Seriously- I go to many FF stores but loathe stopping in this one. It doesnt come close to the quality of their other stores. I only stop in when I really have to.
This store is so so so...in need of better management. They also need to rotate items on shelf and freezer regularly as well as knowing their store policies better at the courtesy desk because they change them like the wind
Nice place to shop!
The place is good, just always lacks the ability to handle even the slightest amount of high costumers checking out, not enough cashiers during the times it does count. Also I understand they want self checkout more, most of the time it is slower because most people dont know how to scan items fairly fast, and bag them.
This store was clean well-stocked and looked very attractive to the customer. I would recommend this store for anyone in this neighborhood, outstanding Deli/Bakery, Produce, Meat Depts., and customer service.
I always enjoy coming here! Always seem to have what Im looking for. Deli service spot on!
It is a larger Family Fare than those in Sparta & Grand Rapids (on Lake Michigan dr.). Very clean and well stocked, great deli and pleasant atmosphere. I definitely recommend shopping at this location.
You know my daughter really like the layout of the store she brought it up when we were walking in she find it very unique and everything was easy to get to!!
Almost always good service. This store is more expensive compared to others. I live right around the corner, so I’ll only shop here for last minute items I need
Prices here are more expensive than a Meier. I go here when I only need a few items. Most of the women staff is friendly, there is a very friendly blonde woman with glasses that always greets me. I’ve had a few men staff be rude or ask me out.
Great place.
Store is clean. The produce section was very sparse and the deli meat was quite a bit more expensive than other stores.
Service better and more promptly. My neighbor hood store. Been going there for years
This store is quite run down, starting to get trashy. Especially the entrance. Family Fare in general is decent, but their prices are 15-30% higher than Walmart. (Walmart is another story)
The new remodel is beautiful and spacious. Excellent customer service!
NOT COVID 19 safe location. No increases in check outs. People balled up. F grade store location.
My experience at Family Fare? Lets see... An African American women was getting reprimanded for wearing her hair the way GOD intended her hair to be. Myself I thought it looked very nice. It was on top of the head, not falling into her eyes nor was it a mess. She was very pleasant. But I heard the repremend which was uncalled for. This girl was written up for it. Come on Family Fare take a good look then at your other employees. I stop there at least 2x a week. I will now go somewhere else. Well you lost a customer with me. All it takes is 1 person to see my review and opps you loose another customer. I was a secret shopper and Family Fare gets 1 Star.
The lady was unprofessional about the bottle refunds argued with me about the amount of cans I had. Unprofessional conduct and low Morale Employees Im just being Honest They need sensitivity Training in this establishment specifically
Not bad if you get the good sales
The checkout process is ridiculous. Self checkout, pay with a card, put all your information in, screen says processing, but you still have to let the computer know that youre paying with a card? Please update the logistics on your checkout process!
Always great prices on powerade.
Closing in July 2021
You can smell the bottle room as soon as you go through the door. They closed their bakery in the store. No real on hand butcher in store. Not stocked with Monster products most often. My drink of choice. 30 plus years as a customer. Im not impressed in the Spartin Nash handling of the property.
They have a sign on the door stating mask must be worn and a security guard at the door, but multiple people without masks or gloves touching products, coughing, sneezing..if I have to go here I make sure its a FAST trip!
Just got doughnuts. Theyre great. Store is great also.
Super clean and well-lit the employees go out of their way to make sure you find everything okay I wont shop anywhere else!
This is probably one of the worst Spartan store that Ive shopped at. Lines are always, ALWAYS longer than the amount of time you spent shopping (only 1 cashier most of the time) and usually that cashier is running the very old and outdated self checkouts (which need overrides ALL THE TIME). With two other stores nearby, I would reconsider entering this one (Horrocks Market and Mediterranean International Market - go to one of them!)
I like this location. Very clean and nice.
