The planetarium are my favorite part of each visit! If you have a John Ball Zoo membership you can get free general admission this month (August) and then you only pay for extras, like the pop culture exhibit and the planetarium. The pop culture exhibit is highly interactive! Great for the kids!

They were so thoughtful about how to get younger kids to think about art and decide for themselves what they like and why. A great first museum experience for the little ones!

Great place to spend part of the day! They have a wide range of exhibits and things to do for all ages. The staff was very helpful, ticket prices were fair— especially for Kent County residents, and they’re stroller accessible!

We had a ton of fun at the museum. The planetarium and the popology exhibit were both worth the extra few dollars! My kids really enjoyed the VR Experience!

A pleasant surprise. The museum has several very interesting displays. There is a rotating display section so check what they have in advance of your visit.There is also a planetarium. Again, check in advance to see exhibits and times.On the ground floor, is a section showing a late 1800s street. Well done and worth some time to see.

Good size for an afternoon. We also did one of the planetarium shows and the kids loved it! I really appreciate that most of the exhibits were in working order or if they werent there was a note posted (we had a poor experience at a different museum in another state because nearly every exhibit was broken, so thank you!).

Super cheap admission comparatively (from Chicago). The popology exhibit was neat, lots of hands on things to do, and learn from. All the exhibits were fun to see. Definitely recommend going if you can.

We were a family of diverse ages (7 to 72) in town for the night and looking for something casual and inexpensive to do in the afternoon. This was the perfect place for all of us to explore with exhibits and interactive stations we all enjoyed.

Grand Rapids Public Museum is such a unique and fun wedding venue in Michigan. As a photographer, the museum provides unique and quirky backdrops for my portraits with the couple. Wonderful museum with so much to see and plenty for kids to do hands on. We stopped here on our way home from vacation with our kids and it was a hit!

Grpm has always been a great go to for my family for years. Our favorite part is definitely walking through old grand rapids and seeing all the little shops and products that were offered over a century ago.Another great note is they have a scavenger hunt that many people bypass simply because its not advertised.Needless to say we will be back soon to check out all their other exhibits.

Love this museum. It isnt huge so its easy to see everything on display in a single visit, but isnt so lacking that it doesnt feel worth it. Recently saw the POPnology exhibit they have right now and it was awesome.

We were in town attending a conference, and rented out the Museum for a welcoming reception. The catered food was fantastic! The Museum staff were most welcoming and the few exhibits I saw were engaging and entertaining. I would definitely return on a normal day to enjoy all of the exhibits!

Great place to go! Exhibits are well executed, interesting and good for kids. The carousel was closed for maintenance when we were there. We stayed for the Incoming! Planetarium show it and it was worth it.

The GRPM was a fun and informative experience. I definitely recommend paying extra to get inside the Popnology exhibit as it was a very cool experience (They have a VR set you can try on!). They also had a pretty thicc beaver (?) That was super cute lol

This museum really surprised me and my family. We spent the entire day here. Its not your typical new style museum where every exhibit is donated by some large corporation and theres only one way to enjoy it. Every section has really nice informative information to read. The exhibits are thought provoking and interactive for young minds.

This was amazing! I kinda wish the pop culture exhibit was included in the price for admission. I understand why they charge and all that. Its just harder to enjoy these things if you dont have the funds. But a great array of things to see and enjoy. I loved the old time section. It felt like you were transported.

This is an amazing place to go for the day! Three floors of interesting things to see. There is a LEGO exhibit there until May and it is so amazing! The staff was so friendly and helpful, too! Purchase your tickets online well in advance though. The planetarium was sold out so we missed out on that today.

This was a fun experience. Lots of hands on activities for kids. Reasonably priced. The cafe food was good and well priced. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Took my daughter here on her 5th BirthdayHad a lot of fun with her, only issue was the lack of rest area. Also, the carousel is being repaired and restored so we didnt get to see it.

Always a great place to visit. Especially in the summer when its too hot to be outside. Residents of kent county get free ramp parking and lowered admission prices. The prices for nonresidents are still very reasonable. If you get a chance, check out a show at the planetarium, they are spectacular. All the workers and security are kind, and will gladly chat you up if you want!

Liked it but we were rushed out of the special exhibit early because they were closing soon. A security guard gave us a warning of their impending close 45 minutes early. Then kept checking in to see if we were leaving. As we were heading out my youngest ran up to an interactive exhibit that was off to the side and he actually took an aggressive step towards her, as I was telling her no we are leaving. We left immediately afterwards, and were apparently the last ones there, because they locked up immediately, even though it was still 10 minutes before they officially closed.

Had so much fun! The staff was friendly and helpful. Will go again!!

Went to planetarium here. Such a cool thing to experience. Then museum has lots of great things to look at also. Highly recommend if in area. Also if u live in Kent county has a reduced admission rate

I went here by myself and I was very impressed. It would be a very nice outing for anyone of all age groups.

The Lego displays were very impressive. Museum has a little bit of everything, something for all interests and ages.

Three floors filled with well curated exhibits. Plenty of hands-on things for the kids. We only spent 1.5hrs there, but had a really good experience.

I havent been to this place in years, and Im talking like highschool years lol. Very nice place and the exhibits are amazing. Took my daughter there and had a blast. We looked at every exhibit and spent like 5 hours there. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We absolutely loved our trip to the museum on June 13th. The joy we got from the planetarium experience was great. You could tell the lady doing it absolutely loves her job... it made my heart purely happy and made the experience 1 in a million. We also love how kind the security guy on duty was and how he was quick to assist with us when we had lost our cell phone. May I also add in that the girl working the snack area by the planetarium and the lady who led the planetarium talk were both more than helpful as well when it came to the lost cell phone. My experience was great and we will be returning.

Took our grandsons - 5 & 7 - to see the Lego exhibit. We spent at least 4 hours exploring and learning. We had trouble getting them to leave! They especially liked the dinosaur fossils and the military swords and uniforms

My daughter and love this museum. We took my granddaughter when she was 4 & again this year for her 11th birthday. She was sick so we had to cut short. A lot of maintenance going on. It was still beautiful educational and fun.

Family fun focused on local history. Fun, interactive exhibits for all ages. Free parking directly across the street. Carousel still under construction but we highly recommend the planetarium shows!

Was a great time as usual. The current Lego exhibit (same guy that had the animals at the zoo last year) didnt disappoint. Photo is one of the standard sights available, a trs-80 (aka trash80) from years ago.

This was my 1st trip to Grand Rapids and the museum did not disappoint. Friendly and fun staff, I would recommend highly. Lots of fun interactive exhibits aswell as great views of the river.

Awesome experience all around! We came in the fall for the LEGO exhibit (which was beyond incredible) but also enjoyed taking in every artifact and bit of history that the museum had to offer! I’d love to come back for a different featured exhibit one day.

We go here about once a year. Incredible lego display! Its the best exhibit Ive seen in along time. Great for all ages.

Wonderful museum, great for families and kid friendly. This is also a delightful venue to hold any type of event. I enjoy their changing exhibits and being reminded of some of their old ones. The location is great but the parking can be a bit tricky. It costs to park across the street in their parking garage. Convenient to other locations and popular spots in Grand Rapids downtown area.

We went today to have some family time out and about. It wasn’t very crowded especially for a Sunday afternoon. We were able to get tickets for the Lego art exhibit, but were too late to get Planetarium tickets. I would suggest preplanning the planetarium.The Sean Kenney lego exhibit was an add on to admission. It was very affordable at $4 for adults and seniors. (General admission pricing was $8 adults and $7 seniors) Students and children were less but I didn’t have any on my order. It was well worth it to go see something different. We did a quick walk through the exhibit but still enjoyed it. Kids in the room also seemed to enjoy it.There are some smaller lego exhibits as well as a large city scape exhibit that are free to view elsewhere in the museum.My favorite section is the arcade. I’m glad they kept this area after the special event they brought them in for. It’s fun for a quarter to play games like pinball, Frogger, Donkey Kong, Centipede and Asteroids. Also helps when you win the family pinball contest by a landslide!!! Mom still has skills, lol!Don’t miss the doll room or the room with Native American history. Both rooms are kinda tucked in and can be easily missed. We also enjoy the exhibit on cultures and immigrants around Grand Rapids.Currently the carrousel is down and gone so I am assuming being refurbished. But it’s also a do not miss when visiting.

Brought my wife and 2 year old here. We had a fun time. The museum was clean and the planetarium was fun. Wish they had more dinosaur exhibits, but im sure they change them or have feature exhibits roll through.

Impressive three storied museum, that is perfect for the whole family. Ive been coming to this museum since I was in grade school, and it always brings back memories. My girlfriend and I spent the entire afternoon here, and it was a blast! Highly recommend.

We went to the Public Museum on a Sunday while visiting Grand Rapids. We were unfamiliar with both the town and the museum, so we kind of went on a whim. It was very enjoyable because they have such a wide variety of exhibits and artifacts there. We particularly enjoyed the Toys exhibit, and we did check out Bodies. This was a great way to be entertained for a few hours. The gift shop has some great treasures to check out as well. Overall, a good time!

Its the Best museum in the city. The places offers a lot of variety and fun for all ages! Even the kids stuff (like the arcade) is fun for adults. I was surprised how much they fit into the small building. Great pieces of history are preserved here and its perfect for the general public

An absolutely wonderful time with the kids. Such awesome set-up, with lots of hands on stuff for the kids to do. Ive been to other science museums that seem to have more hands on things for the kids but this seemed like a mix of science and history museum. Overall we all had a great time.One word of advice, if you can avoid going when a school is there, youll be glad you did. It seems as though they use it as more of a babysitter for rambunctious kids than a learning experience for them. They were all over the place. Definitely not enjoyable at least when the last school was there. Hope this helps you. Youll be done in about 2-3 hours with kids. Youll have fun here for sure though!

I had family visiting from out of town and was looking for something fun to do as a group. Being relatively new to the area, I googled local attractions in Grand Rapids and was directed toward the Grand Rapids Public Museum.My visiting family, including 2 children ages 7 and 10, had a blast at the museum! The alphabetical system for designating attractions and the special exhibits, especially the one focusing on pop technology, were interactive and educational in very focused and interesting ways! The price of admission was a bargain for the 4-5 hours of entertainment we received and the lifetime of memories we get to carry with us. I made a promise to my nephews that if they visit again we will definitely be visiting the GRPM again.

My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. It has been a couple of years since we had visited; well worth the stop again.

The wealth of knowledge from the museum staff was incredible. It was so much fun learning about the pharmacy!

We enjoyed the Grand Rapids Public Museum. The museum has a diverse array of exhibits that would surely please everyone in the family. My favorite part was the area of the museum on the first floor that makes you feel as though you have stepped back in time and entered into a town with a hardware store, grocery store, pharmacy, etc. We drove up to Grand Rapids from the South Bend area for lunch and the museum and went back home satisfied. A+ - Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed my experience at Grand Rapids Public Museum. It offers many interesting collections and exhibits that feature history and natural history. Its not too large so that you cant see it all in one day but not too small either. Very educational for kids and adults alike. Id highly recommend this museum to people of all ages and interests.

A fairly nice nice museum that was cheap to get into, there are 3 floors with lots of local history. Would have liked some of the exhibits to be less kid oriented, but oh well.

The Grand Rapids Public Museum is an excellent stop for anyone with an interest in Grand Rapids history. The modest admission price is well worth it for the size and variety of the collections on display. Small children may not enjoy the experience as much as older kids and adults. But there is a lot to see and learn. The planetarium show is worth the extra commitment.

POPnology exhibit was amazing!

Always fun with general admission but the popnology exhibit was really fun.

The Better Business Bureau hosted the 49th Annual Assembly here and it was fun for everyone and I admit I thought it was more for everyone else. Turned out to be a blast and cant wait to return when we have more time to see and experience everything. I felt all my ages from being a kid to a teen to a young adult and whatever that is that comes after. If you are even reading this far just go ahead and visit it.

Ive always loved our pu lic museum. Its a small version of the Field Museum in Chicago and does a great job of keeping things fresh.

As fun as its always been from the nostalgic exhibits you saw as a kid to the new traveling exhibits they had when I visited this time. Popnology was a great exhibit if you catch it and are into robots and nerdy ve tech stuff. Super affordable and can fill up a day with the family or on a date. If youre not from GR I recommend it as a spot to visit while youre in town.

Been to many museums, but I always come back to this one as one of my favorites. I love the design of this place the A-Z aspect is very unique and how the layout is ensures that you hit all spots in the museum just by following the path. Its not confusing or twisty like some others can be. The different exhibits are always a delight.

Pretty solid museum. A lot of good historical sections of the museum, especially the section of old Grand Rapids. I feel like it could be larger though. They usually setup a new special section of the museum every once in a while which are usually hit or miss.

This was a great museum! We took 2 small children and a teen, and they all had fun. So did us adults! The toy exhibit and 80s/90s style arcade with playable games they have up are particularly great. We spent too long on that one. The big windows overlooking the river are also a great feature, so pretty with lots of natural light. We spent about 3 hours there, and left exhausted, but still hasnt seen it all. So theres a lot to see! Great family outing.

Lots to see and do for kids and adults

A unique and satisfying experience for all ages. You may end up wandering the floors twice to take the elevator at the start of your search for interesting and fun facts, many of them are about the Grand Rapids area and the people that made it successful.

We had such a great time. Loved the variety that this museum had to offer. The layout and setup of the exhibits is spectacular. The Toys Exhibit and the Dinosaur Exhibit were both a ton of fun for the whole family. The Carosuel ride was a nice added bonus for our little one too! This place did not disappoint!

After attending the light show in the planetarium we enjoyed a beautiful walk around the museum grounds. Very nice affordable evening out. The light show was well done and a very different experience if you have never been. We look forward to returning with the kids during normal museum hours to see everything else the museum has to offer.

We love being members. We can go and stay for a couple hours and come again another day.

The museum was very detailed. Alot to take and are able to work with and see how it works. Virtual set up, grab a crane, 1980 Back To The Future original car, items made from soap, small area for food and drinks, 3 stories take elevator. I was exhausted!

A must see place on hand rapids. From the giant fin whale to mummies they have all the old stuff worth seeing! Joking aside its a lovely way to spend an afternoon and you wont even realize your learning something along the way! Wont regret it

Enjoyed every bit of it!! I really liked the exhibits on the original Native Americans that lived on the Michigan land and how their influences are still very relevant today there.
