The staff is always so chill and kind. Great meeting spot. Wonderful selection of healing teas, top notch flavors for the kava, and all around pleasing atmosphere.

A little pricey, but was worth finding kava on this side of the state. I had never had kava with flavor added and sweetness, which changes the whole experience. Staff are knowledgeable of the types they carry and what flavor combos work. All around cute little shop and worth the stop!

This is such a gem. The drinks make an exotic and flavorful alternative to alcohol. The place seems like a cross between a bar and a coffee house. The customers are delightful and the drinks are delicious. Its awesome that theres a non-alcoholic late night drink spot in Grand Rapids.

Absolutely beautiful, warm and inviting inside. The caramel latte i had was delicious and fair price. The barista was very kind and considerate of what I would like. Was a joy and will be back!

What a unique little place! We did not really know too much about Kava and the employee there was a textbook of knowledge and was so helpful with our questions. The establishment has a very fun interior and is extremely welcoming. We tried the Rare Kava and it was very calming, the effects were almost immediate. I would recommend giving this place a try for sure!

Im from out of town and just wanted to get out of the hotel. Such a friendly and accepting atmosphere. There kava is great and presented in a very unique way.

They offer several coffees and teas in addition to the main draw, the Kava drinks.You can read all about Kava online, Im not gonna preach, so depending on who you read its anywhere between a cure-all wonder-plant or a passing tea fad. This is the kinda place that uses the word toxins unironically in their menu.I got the rare double, which is what they suggest for newcomers. Cost me around 14 bucks. Theres lots of options on how to prep it, just like a coffee shop. Its meant to be chugged, and it did indeed lighten my mood and numb my lips and mouth a bit.The staff were friendly and can walk a newcomer through, or serve a pro. This place is comfy and their social media pages have events listed, if you want to go to an open mic or a social club gathering.I give it 4/5 because the prices are a bit high, even for a specialty drinks place. Theres also a lot of dubious claims in their official handouts that could use some citations...

First time here yesterday and it was a great experience. The staff was very inviting, friendly, and she had a good vibe all around the service was amazing. The shop was quiet and not too busy which was nice and had a wide variety of stuff on the menu. First time trying kava and while taste wise it was a little weird for me my girlfriend actually loved it. Would definitely go again.

As previous reviews mentioned, not enforcing masks- if this is makes you uncomfortable I would suggest not visiting. Upon our visit, we were asking a couple questions while ordering our drinks (first time for one of us), and the staff member assisting us was very cold, dismissive, and did not provide a pleasant first experience at all. I will mention, the drink was good, but we unfortunately did not feel welcomed.

Not for everyone but worth a try to experience the drink and check out the regulars who are, for the most part, very friendly. I suggest reading a bit about kava before hand. I went in completely on a whim with coffee expectations and got a bit of a shock on the overall vibe.

I recently broke my foot and thought I would try something non-pharmaceutical to help me with bone pain/discomfort. A friend recommended I visit Kava Kasa and try one of their drinks. I did some research ahead of time, and then decided to try it out. I felt a bit nervous going in, as I had no prior experience with Kava, but the bartender Annie (sp?) was very welcoming and kind. She answered all of my questions and really made me feel at ease. I ended up ordering a double Premium, which I found pleasantly relaxing. I love the atmosphere here and I will certainly be visiting again! I highly recommend stopping in - this is a great spot to sit and read, study, relax, socialize, or whatever!

I never to rarely write bad reviews. If i could give this place 0 stars i would. First time in grand rapids, came in (wasnt busy) the woman was very rude as the reviews below also mention., Not helpful, when we said we have never been and what she recommended she first said “well what do your taste buds like?” And then recommended a 16 dollar drink and wasn’t helpful. No mask either although you’d think so as it gives off this hippy vibe... very strange. Overall, not welcoming and they used dairy when asking for almond milk.

I found it deeply disturbing none of the employees were wearing masks. We are at highest records of COVID-19 cases. This is irresponsible.You can say to not support the business if you dont like it. I am guilty for supporting this place by purchasing a drink here. Im not sure if this place is anti-science and believes alternative information; therefore, doesnt follow guidelines and perhaps even gets away with it. Regardless, it is unacceptable.Lastly, Im not sure why people are saying the vibe was welcoming from staff? I wouldnt say the employee was rude, rather, just cold. I felt like an annoyance from my lack of knowledge. Perhaps, they are welcoming if you appear to fit into their tribe. Or, maybe theyre just welcoming to anyone not wearing a mask?

Truly a unique experience. This is Michigans only Kava bar, however they have managed to become the greatest community-centered and well-staffed business in Grand Rapids. Stunning product, better environment!

I wasnt going to write a review but Google asked me to so here it goes.Firstly, and this is no secret, masks are not worn by staff or customers. Take from this what you will. If youre pro-mask, dont bother. Anti-mask, heres your place. They advertise as open (during the beginning of the 3-week restriction period instituted by Michigan Department of Health and Human Services) for carryout and outdoor seating, but everyone just sits inside, hush hush wink wink. So, like I said, if thats your thing, heres your place.Secondly, the prices. You can get your own kava locally or online for less. Its not fun squeezing and kneading the bag so maybe paying more is better for convenience sake. We used to treat ourselves to Kava Kasa regularly. We were happy to see on their website 30% off happy hour for students 2-6pm Mon-Fri. When we tried to use this discount we were told it was actually not available, due to lackluster business due to covid they couldnt afford discounts. Okay. Maybe a better-run and more honest business would remove this from their website; this was several months ago and it is still prominently displayed. We havent been back since.

Went in because it was across the street from where I was working - first thing that struck me was no one was wearing a mask - workers or clients. Second, even though the place was practically empty no one greeted me. Also, the place smelled like an old couch - I walked back out. Ill never go back.

We must have stopped by on an off day (Saturday). My wife and I inquired about the Kava and the server seemed annoyed by the question. He just gave us one word answers to our requests and questions. It wasnt like he was busy, there was only one other customer at the time. Maybe we werent hip enough for him. I ended up getting a decent cup of coffee.Doubt well be back.

Visited last night with a kava-experienced friend. Was a little weirded out by what kava is because I’d never tried it. The employee (I think owner?) explained all the different menu items, how they affect people, made suggestions, and explained the many benefits of kava. I was a little in denial of it really effecting me much, but after trying it, it’s a new favorite. Helped with chronic back pain and some anxiety relief. He also made sure to mention to me that the kava will numb my mouth when he gave it to me, and how it’s normal and okay.Overall I was just really impressed with the experience, the actual location is very cool, though we didn’t stay in, ordered to-go. Hoping to come back very soon.Highly recommend getting vanilla almond milk with lavender, though I’m sure there are tons of amazing combinations.Thank you!!

Stopped in on the recommendation of a colleague. As recommended ordered the premium double. What can you say, the taste is definitely not the best you will ever find, but that is part of the fun. As you drink you can feel the tingle in your mouth. After a while you start to get a numbing sensation and then the relaxation hits. That entire day of stress just washing away. I am truly sold on this wonderfully undeliscious concoction. No doubt I will be back for more soon.

Tonight was my second time there. THe staff and other guests were very knowledgeable and incredibly gracious. The kava is good stuff too!

Very interesting place. We were visiting Grand Rapids for a wedding and stumbled upon Kava Kasa. We all tried it with different chasers and add ons. Very interesting flavor and sensation in the mouth for a short time. Affects some different than others. Will definitely try again.

Came for lunch and it was packed! That didnt stop the 3 man kitchen from churning out great food in short(ish) time. As a college student, the prices are friendly and you really cant beat their Pulled Tea on a cold day.

Unique in Michigan and luckily in Grand Rapids! Kava is quite earthy in taste but wonderfully relaxing for mind and body.

Parking is limited,as is seating, but very nice place. Barista was very knowledgeable about Kava, and took his time to explain it to us. Will definitely revisit.

They will try to sell you by telling all of its advantages but as far as my experience goes, its just a regular kahwa. Seems the same one you can find at many Arabic coffee shops/restaurants. Nothing special, all the mind and body calmness stuff is ridiculous - it pretty much just seems like a marketing pitch. Overall, I would not go again unless Im in real need of a nice atmosphere to chill around with friends.

Friendly service. Only place in West Michigan that carries what I need. Saves me from having to order online. Their kava is primo quality as well.

Definitely interesting. I had a Cloud Chaser with milk, sweetener, and pumpkin spice flavoring. Wasnt terrible but its probably an acquired taste. My colleague had the same with just milk and could barely get it down. The mouth feel is that of Chloroseptic, tongue and lips were kinda numb and it definitely had a calming effect. A little expensive but never know until you try.

Change the lighting to be more intimate and the space would match the product.
